Ravens | Lamar Jackson not interested in talking deal    Wed Jun 18, 06:47 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson said he is not interested in talking about his contract situation at this time.

Footballguys view: GM Eric DeCosta said earlier this month that contract negotiations have started with Jackson, including during OTAs. Minicamp would be a convenient time for the two sides to continue those conversations. Jackson signed a five-year, $260 million deal during the 2023 offseason that made him the NFL's highest-paid player at the time. Dallas' Dak Prescott currently tops the NFL with a contract averaging $60 million per season. Head coach John Harbaugh said in March that Jackson's next contract will again put him at the top of the salary scale. "Sounds good," Jackson said when asked about Harbaugh's comments.

49ers | George Kittle may see more targets    Wed Jun 18, 05:39 PM

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle may receive more routes this upcoming season because the team can use TE Luke Farrell as a blocking tight end in two-tight end sets, according to general manager John Lynch.

Footballguys view: Last year, Kittle stayed in to pass block on 11.6 percent of the team's passing plays -- his highest mark since 2021. In 2023, when they played more multi-TE personnel, he was on pass blocking on 7.0 percent of the team's pass plays. As USA Today's Kyle Madson suggests, with question marks at wide receiver, having Kittle, who led the team with 1,106 receiving yards and eight touchdown catches last year, available as often as possible makes sense. His consistent production over time makes his TE3 average draft position and fourth-round price this summer appealing.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce Says Decision To Return This Year Was Easy    Wed Jun 18, 04:50 PM

While there was plenty of speculation that Chiefs TE Travis Kelce could retire a few months ago, the 35-year-old elected to stick around for at least one more season. In his Wednesday minicamp press conference, Kelce told reporters that the decision to return wasn't that hard for him. "I love football," Kelce said. "It wasn't a very tough one for me. I know I'm getting older, but at the same time, I still feel like I got a lot that I can prove in this league. With that being said, it really wasn't that hard of a decision for me."

Footballguys view: The next question is whether 2025 will be the last season for the storied tight end, who will turn 36 in October. "I got one year on this contract, I know that," Kelce said. "And we'll try and figure out something for next year." This year, Kelce's TE6 ADP keeps him in starter territory while reflecting his disappointing 2024 season. For the record, Kelce remains one of the most prolific tight ends in the NFL. His 97 catches ranked third among all tight ends.

Ravens | DeAndre Hopkins Making A Strong Impression On His Quarterback    Wed Jun 18, 04:42 PM

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is wrapping up his first offseason program with the Ravens, and he's made a strong impression on at least one of his new teammates. It's an important one. â€"That guy is dope. He is different,” quarterback Lamar Jackson said via the team's website.

Footballguys view: Hopkins made a sliding, one-handed grab of a pass that Jackson threw behind him in Tuesday's minicamp practice, and Jackson raved about what would come from Hopkins' ability to make plays like that when he spoke to reporters after the session. "That's some super vet type of stuff," Jackson said. "I am looking forward to throwing a lot of touchdowns to him this year." As PFT notes, Hopkins, currently being drafted as WR72, and Jackson will continue working on theirs at training camp before hitting the field against the Bills on the first Sunday night of the regular season.

Giants | Darius Slayton has good offseason    Wed Jun 18, 04:38 PM

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton was one of the standout performers during offseason workouts, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.

Footballguys view: As Newsweek noted, Slayton has been consistent for the Giants since being drafted in the fifth round in 2019. That said, shifting starting quarterbacks last season resulted in his production taking a hit. Across 16 appearances, he totaled 573 yards (his lowest since 2021) and two touchdowns (ties career-low). This year, Slayton seems excited to get to work with former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson. With a more reliable talent like Wilson under center, it could result in a rebound as Slayton, currently carrying a WR78 average draft position, works alongside talented youngster Malik Nabers.

Commanders | Noah Brown may not miss much time    Wed Jun 18, 04:05 PM

Washington Commanders WR Noah Brown's (undisclosed) injury is not believed to be serious but there is no official word on the injury, in the opinion of ESPN.com's John Keim.

Footballguys view: As USA Today notes, Washington isn't required to report on injuries during the offseason, so information is thin. Considering the medical cart came onto the field for Brown, many assumed it was a serious injury, at least initially. While his comments suggest things may not be as bad as they appeared, it's important to note that Keim had no specific news on the injury and that it was only his belief that it was not serious. Brown was Washington's second-leading receiver last year before he injured his kidney in Week 13 and missed the remainder of the season. We'll follow up when camp opens.

Broncos | Marvin Mims in line for solid role    Wed Jun 18, 03:29 PM

Denver Broncos WR Marvin Mims will be used on kick and punt returns this upcoming season and is also expected to have a role in the offense.

Footballguys view: While Mims struggled to find his place on offense as a rookie in 2023, that started to change last year when he caught 39 passes for 503 yards and six touchdowns while rushing 13 times for 42 yards. With Mims playing at a high level on special teams, the Broncos will continue to use him on kickoffs and punt returns but expect him to play a greater role on offense as well. That doesn't make him a draft-worthy fantasy prospect, but he'll be a player to watch once the season starts.

Titans | Coach happy with Kalel Mullings    Wed Jun 18, 02:57 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Kalel Mullings (abdomen) was limited this offseason because of an abdomen injury, but running backs Randy Jordan said Mullings was impressive in the classroom.

Footballguys view: The Titans talked openly about adding a physical, downhill runner to their stable early in the offseason and followed that by selecting Mullings in the draft. Mullings plays with a physicality that Tennessee lacked and could be a perfect power complement to Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears in the backfield. We'll be watching for signs that the rookie's role is developing as training camp unfolds.

Jaguars | GM explains Travis Hunter WR offseason work    Wed Jun 18, 02:46 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter received more time at wide receiver during offseason workouts because the team believes his more natural position is cornerback, according to general manager James Gladstone. 'Our understanding that Travis is most naturally comfortable, most naturally in-tune on the defensive side of the ball.' Gladstone said. 'We wanted to load him offensively throughout this window to ensure that by the time we got to training camp, we had a runway built up on that side because there is so much more nuance.'

Footballguys view: As USA Today's Paul Bretl explained, once training camp arrives, we will start to see a lot more of Hunter playing both sides of the ball during a single practice. As we explained in an item published here Tuesday, when it comes to how much time Hunter will spend at receiver versus cornerback in-game once the regular season arrives remains to be seen. As Gladstone mentioned, the Jaguars will remain fluid in that regard, with the opponent and week-to-week game plans dictating where Hunter's playing time could come from. Despite that uncertainty, Hunter is being drafted as WR29.

Giants | Cam Skattebo reaches agreement on deal    Wed Jun 18, 02:38 PM

New York Giants fourth-round draft choice RB Cam Skattebo agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Giants Wednesday, June 18, according to sources. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Upon arrival, Skattebo was viewed as an ideal complement to Tyrone Tracy Jr., who finished his rookie campaign last year as the Giants' lead back. While he's a tough runner, NorthJersey.com's Art Stapleton contends the newcomer's value as a receiver has been overlooked throughout the pre-draft evaluation process. Stapleton further believes the more opportunities Skattebo gets this summer, the more likely he'll get an immediate role in the backfield with Tracy and veteran Devin Singletary. It's worth noting that Tracy has an early average draft position of RB31; Skattebo is already RB33. They're going in Rounds 8 and 9, respectively.

Jets | Anders Carlson off roster    Wed Jun 18, 01:27 PM

New York Jets PK Anders Carlson was released Wednesday, June 18.

Footballguys view: Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick with the Packers, kicked in five games for the Jets and went 8-for-10 on field goals. His release comes after the team signed Harrison Mevis, widely known as the â€"Thiccer Kicker.” Kicking was one of the many problems that plagued the Jets' 2024 campaign, with the club continuously rotating at the position as far into the year as January. A 6-foot, 242-pound kicker out of Missouri -- where he earned his infamous nickname -- Mevis made 20 of 21 attempts during the 2025 UFL season with the Birmingham Stallions.

Chiefs | JuJu Smith-Schuster impressive at practice    Wed Jun 18, 01:12 PM

Kansas City Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster was one of the standout performers during practice Tuesday, June 17, with impressive catches, in the opinion of Chiefs.com's Matt McMullen.

Footballguys view: McMullen's reporting has been echoed by other observers, who suggest Smith-Schuster's strong showing could solidify his role in the offense. In the 11-on-11 part of Tuesday's practice, Patrick Mahomes reportedly threw four passes to Smith-Schuster, more than any other receiver, opening the door to more interest in his potential role this season. That said, it's one practice. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy remain the fantasy prospects of interest at the position here. But we'll keep an eye out for more on Smith-Schuster as the season draws nearer.

Ravens | Baltimore adds Jaire Alexander    Wed Jun 18, 01:06 PM

Free-agent CB Jaire Alexander (Packers) signed with the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday, June 18. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Subsequent reporting indicates Alexander signed a one-year contract for $4 million with $2 million in incentives. Alexander boosts a corner crew that includes All-Pro Marlon Humphrey, 2024 first-rounder Nate Wiggins and veteran Chidobe Awuzie. If he remains healthy, Alexander and Wiggins outside and Humphrey in the slot make for a very good trio. Of course, health has been an issue for Alexander. With the Packers unable to count on him week in and week out, they didn't want to pay $16.5 million in base salary. Now, however, the Ravens get Alexander at a considerable discount.

Bengals | Demetrius Knight Jr. shines in OTAs    Wed Jun 18, 01:08 AM

Cincinnati Bengals LB Demetrius Knight Jr. has been the '[run] away' winner among the team's rookie class thus far, in the opinion of The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr., who writes that Knight has been slotted into a starting role opposite LB Logan Wilson. Dehner adds that Knight 'already feels like a leader of this defense.'

Bengals | Joe Burrow poised for fast start    Wed Jun 18, 12:17 AM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow has received a lot of support from the organization, including new deals for WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, as well as TE Mike Gesicki, and he's headed into his second season under offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher. All of that has Burrow looking 'dialed in,' according to The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr., who writes that the continuity along with Burrow's health is a 'recipe for him to finally start fast.' The Bengals have gone 1-7 in Weeks 1 and 2 over the past four seasons.

Footballguys view: Burrow's health and contract issues have been obstacles in past seasons. Last year, Chase's contract sidelined him until opening week while Burrow was coming off season-ending surgery on his right wrist. In the summer of 2023, a strained calf suffered on the second day of camp kept Burrow on ice through August. The year before? An emergency appendectomy cost Burrow almost all of training camp, and he spent the 2021 preseason recovering from a torn ACL. Seeing Burrow and this offense get off to a fast start would be a boost for many fantasy investors.

Giants | Malik Nabers injury not long term    Wed Jun 18, 12:03 AM

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (toe) is not considered to be dealing with a long-term injury, head coach Brian Daboll told reporters Tuesday, June 17. He also participated in the walkthrough with the second-team offense.

Footballguys view: As AtoZSports.com suggested, a productive rookie season in a limited offense has many wondering how high Nabers might be. But if he's going to build on that fast start, Nabers has to put this lingering issue behind him. So, while Daboll inferred that the team doctors have a plan, that Nabers didn't have a procedure this offseason, and that the wideout is expected to be ready for training camp, we'll all be watching for him to hit the field in August. Meanwhile, Nabers is still being drafted as WR5 in Round 1.

Rams | No update on Kyren Williams extension    Wed Jun 18, 12:02 AM

Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams is still making progress on a new contract with the team, but there's still no timetable for when that deal may take place, head coach Sean McVay said Tuesday, June 17.

Footballguys view: As SI.com recently suggested, Williams might need another big season for him to earn a big payday. His numbers have increased each season, and it wouldn't be entirely shocking if he were to do so again. A strong season could give Williams a contract in the $10 million average annual value range, putting him among the highest-paid running backs in the NFL. For fantasy investors, Williams making good on his Footballguys 2025 Projection -- RB8 -- would be great since he's being drafted as RB12 in the third round of early drafts.

Giants | Jalin Hyatt suffers apparent injury on Tuesday    Wed Jun 18, 12:01 AM

New York Giants WR Jalin Hyatt (undisclosed) was unable to finish mandatory minicamp practice after suffering an apparent injury on Tuesday, June 17.

Footballguys view: While Hyatt left the field to get his left leg stretched out, it appears to be a minor issue. According to USA Today, the former third-round pick showed up with an additional 15-20 pounds of muscle. He also earned a ringing endorsement from new quarterback Russell Wilson, whom he had been working out privately this offseason. "I saw him do it in college. I also saw him make some big-time plays in the National Football League . . . He's made some great plays," Wilson told reporters. We'll be watching to see if that carries over to camp.

Raiders | Michael Mayer poised to break out?    Tue Jun 17, 03:44 PM

Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer has been 'outstanding,' according to offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

Footballguys view: In two seasons, Mayer, a second-round pick in 2023, has totaled 460 yards and two touchdowns on 48 catches. He had just 21 catches for 156 yards as he was absent seven weeks last year for personal reasons. While it's true the offense opens up even more if Mayer is productive and the team can play more two-tight end sets, it hardly guarantees fantasy relevance. As long as Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers are healthy, Mayer will be battling for targets in a group that Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, Ashton Jeanty, and Raheem Mostert.

Vikings | Wes Phillips handed one-year extension    Tue Jun 17, 02:44 PM

Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Wesley Phillips reportedly signed a one-year contract extension recently to keep him tied to the franchise through the end of the 2026 season. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: As the Star-Tribune notes, the deal with Phillips extends the tenure of one of Kevin O'Connell's key confidants, who helps organize the team's game plan during the week and provides a crucial voice for the coach as he calls plays on Sundays. Phillips turned down a job calling plays for the Chargers after the 2022 season, deciding to stay in Minnesota on O'Connell's staff; he will work with the head coach and the Vikings' offensive staff in 2025 as the team prepares 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy to take over as starting quarterback.

Giants | HC pleased with Jaxson Dart so far    Tue Jun 17, 02:06 PM

New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart has been 'excellent' in spring practices, according to head coach Brian Daboll. Per Daboll, Dart has impressed the team with how quickly he has learned and how well he has retained information.

Footballguys view: According to Evan Barnes of Newsday, Daboll added that Dart has taken reps with the ones, twos, and threes so that the club can see how he handles the situations. Generally, Daboll has been giving Dart plenty to handle on offense, knowing that by the third time a young player hears it, he's a lot more comfortable. Of course, with Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston also on the roster, Dart should have plenty of opportunity to sit back, learn, and make steady incremental progress as a rookie in 2025.

Chargers | Oronde Gadsden draws lofty comp    Tue Jun 17, 01:31 PM

Los Angeles Chargers TE Oronde Gadsden II reminds tight ends coach Andy Bischoff of a former pupil of his, Darren Waller. 'I know it's a huge, huge forecast, but I was fortunate to coach Darren Waller and Darren Waller was a receiver in college. We turned him into a tight end. He's got some of those traits. It's way early. Way early, but he's twitchy. He separates, he does some really good things in the pass game. I think as he's become more comfortable in our system in the last four or five days, I think people are beginning to see that,' Bischoff said Tuesday, June 17.

Footballguys view: Gadsden transitioned from wide receiver to tight end while he was at Syracuse and capped his college days with an All-ACC season. He posted 73 catches for 934 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. While Gadsden's blocking skills are not as well developed as his receiving chops, the willingness to mix it up has been there so far. Still, Gadsden has work to do before he's fantasy-relevant. At this point, free-agent addition Tyler Conklin is the first Charger TE being drafted -- as TE34. Investors don't see much value at the position on this depth chart.

Jaguars | Travis Hunter possesses endless endurance    Tue Jun 17, 01:05 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter 'does not tire' and has 'the capacity' to play on both sides of the ball for four quarters, according to general manager James Gladstone. 'He does not tire. He's got a spark, he's got the energy, the capacity from a physical standpoint to be able to do it is certainly there,' Gladstone told Andrew Siciliano on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday, June 17.

Footballguys view: Gladstone wouldn't commit to a certain number of offensive or defensive snaps per game but indicated the Jaguars are confident that whatever number they ask of Hunter, he'll deliver. "Certain game plans might dictate usage differently," Gladstone said. We'll be watching closely during training camp and the preseason for more insight on usage. But the week-to-week uncertainty surrounding his playing time is baked into Hunter's WR29 average draft position. Those who invest in a pair of high-volume options ahead of him at the position will likely be willing to deal with some down weeks if Hunter's peaks are high enough.

Steelers | George Pickens wasn't a fit with Aaron Rodgers    Tue Jun 17, 10:57 AM

Dallas Cowboys WR George Pickens was evaluated to be someone Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers wouldn't gel with, and that's one of the reasons he was traded to the Cowboys, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The good news is Pittsburgh's concerns about Pickens and Rodgers hitting it off played into the Cowboys' willingness to relinquish draft capital to land high-upside talent on rookie contracts. In Pickens' case, Dallas lands a player they believe has the talent to become a top-10 receiver. At the very least, the Cowboys have a player who can keep opposing defenses from focusing all their attention on stopping CeeDee Lamb. And if Pickens can make good on his potential, fantasy investors could get a bargain given his WR31 ADP heading into the summer.

Steelers | Aaron Rodgers gets rave review    Tue Jun 17, 10:54 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has drawn rave reviews from a couple of NFL scouts. 'Look, the mobility is an issue, there's no doubt,' an AFC executive said. 'But where he helps them is with the plus arm strength and the field vision from the pocket. They haven't had that. I'm not sure that will be enough, but the offense will be at least respectable.' 'He's still throwing the (crap) out of the ball, honestly,' a veteran NFL offensive coach said. 'He's the best quarterback they've had since (Ben Roethlisberger). We will see how the body holds up, but I think he's going to help them immensely.'

Footballguys view: As things stand, it's hard to argue against the notion that Pittsburgh went with their best option at quarterback: A 41-year-old Rodgers on a team-friendly contract that pays $13.65 million and pushes toward $20 million with incentives. Remember, despite playing for a lame-duck staff in New York and lacking chemistry with his best receiver, Garrett Wilson, Rodgers still threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns with the Jets last season. From a fantasy perspective, Rodgers' 16th-round price tag (as QB29) offers a lot of flexibility for those waiting as long as possible for their QB2.

Vikings | J.J. McCarthy impressing with arm strength    Tue Jun 17, 09:58 AM

Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy's arm has looked especially lively on throws down the middle of the field. 'He definitely has an arm,' receiver Justin Jefferson said. 'That's for sure. He can definitely zip it whenever he needs to.' Jefferson noted that McCarthy threw the ball the same way, hard and straight, last year. McCarthy said he was experimenting with his throws 'every single day' this spring and added: 'I believe I've grown the most on just the different level of trajectories of throw. At Michigan, I was kind of a one-speed pitch kind of guy. I had a couple deeper balls with level-three throws and stuff like that, but [I'm] just working on that two-ball and different paces to the 'pitches' and ball location.'

Footballguys view: In addition to being able to make all throws, McCarthy has a strong supporting cast of skill players, including Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Aaron Jones. Throw in an aggressive play-caller in head coach Kevin O'Connell, and there's a lot for fantasy investors to like here -- including a QB20 average draft position. The 12th-round price tag is especially appealing given McCarthy's QB12 Footballguys Projection.

Packers | Matthew Golden poised for big year?    Tue Jun 17, 12:46 AM

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden is likely to 'get plenty of playing time right away,' in the opinion of ESPN's Rob Demovsky, who notes that WR Christian Watson (knee) is set to miss the start of the season while recovering from a torn ACL. Demovsky also writes that Golden 'seemed to immediately jell' with QB Jordan Love during offseason activities.

Footballguys view: Beyond all that, Demovsky suggested when you're the first receiver your team has drafted in Round 1 since 2002, you'd better show it was worth it. The fact that Golden has an opportunity to do just that makes him of interest to fantasy investors. Golden's ninth-round average draft position -- he's being drafted as WR47, behind teammate Jayden Reed (WR44) is plenty reasonable given the circumstances.

Vikings | Jordan Addison shows connection with QB    Tue Jun 17, 12:32 AM

Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison appeared to have a good connection with QB J.J. McCarthy during the mandatory minicamp last week. McCarthy said he plans to work out with Addison leading up to training camp.

Footballguys view: Addison has proven his rookie season was not a fluke and that the production could be replicated, even without Kirk Cousins. Of course, as previously noted, Addison faces a July 15 trial on a DUI charge. A guilty verdict -- or an admission of guilt by way of a plea agreement -- will likely lead to league punishment. The Vikings are expecting a three-game suspension, which might suppress Addison's draft value to a point where the discount becomes appealing. We'll be watching for more on that in coming weeks.

Raiders | Tre Tucker performs well at minicamp    Tue Jun 17, 12:30 AM

Las Vegas Raiders WR Tre Tucker was a standout performer during the mandatory minicamp last week, in the opinion of Levi Damien.

Footballguys view: Tucker possesses the elite speed needed to stretch the field and score quickly. As AtoZSports.com's Justin Churchill recently noted, Tucker has consistently been the only guy on the offense the last two years who has been able to create problems downfield for opposing defenses. Worth noting, the 5-9 Tucker bulked up this offseason after coming into the league at 182 pounds. With a new quarterback, Geno Smith, capable of getting the ball downfield, it will be interesting to see if Tucker can keep improving in year three with the Raiders.

49ers | GM confident in Ricky Pearsall    Tue Jun 17, 12:29 AM

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said WR Ricky Pearsall is an ascending player and that he is confident that Pearsall will play well this upcoming season.

Footballguys view: As Fansided.com noted, a crisp route runner with a quick first step and solid burst, Pearsall has excellent hands and thrives after the catch. Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel Sr. was traded to the Commanders, and Brandon Aiyuk is set to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, coming off a torn ACL suffered last October. That puts Pearsall in line to open the season as the starter opposite Jauan Jennings. So even if Pearsall's WR41 price seems high, he'll have ample opportunity to build on his strong finish last season.

Titans | Chig Okonkwo productive this offseason    Tue Jun 17, 12:27 AM

Tennessee Titans TE Chig Okonkwo caught multiple passes during the workouts open to the media this offseason and showed a good connection with QB Cam Ward, in the opinion of TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt.

Footballguys view: According to Wyatt, in the five open practices, no player caught more passes than Okonkwo, who tallied 13. Wyatt added: "Okonkwo looks fast, and he appears to have good chemistry already with Ward." For our purposes, Okonkwo's failure to live up to expectations last year has him priced as TE25 in Round 16. He'll more likely be on your waiver-wire watchlist than a roster, barring a fantastic training camp and preseason.

Bears | Big expectations for Colston Loveland    Tue Jun 17, 12:06 AM

Chicago Bears TE Colston Loveland (shoulder) was named as the choice for 'best rookie in the NFC North' by three of the four ESPN writers that were polled. All three drew parallels to Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta, who had 86 receptions and 10 touchdowns during his rookie year when new head coach Ben Johnson was the offensive coordinator in Detroit, though ESPN's Kevin Seifert suggested Loveland could get off to a slow start due to veteran TE Cole Kmet being an established contributor.

Footballguys view: ESPN Bears' beat writer Courtney Cronin noted that teams don't draft tight ends in the top 10 without expecting them to make an immediate impact. Even if Kmet is a factor in two-TE sets, the outlet Loveland will provide Caleb Williams in the passing game is critical for the quarterback making a leap in his second season. Even if he falls short of LaPorta's remarkable rookie season, Loveland's TE13 average draft position and 10th-round price tag make it easier for those looking to take a shot on the upside.

Cardinals | Trey Benson Hoping For An Expanded Role This Season    Mon Jun 16, 04:05 PM

Trey Benson is seeking a bigger role in Year 2. The 2024 third-round running back didn't make a huge splash as a rookie, logging just 63 rushing attempts for 291 yards and a touchdown behind workhorse James Conner, but he believes a higher share of carries could be in order moving forward. "I feel like I'll get more opportunities and help James out more," Benson said during mandatory minicamp. "I feel like we can have two RB1s on this team, and that's my mindset this year is two RB1s."

Footballguys view: As NFL.com noted, it remains to be seen how many carries the 30-year-old Conner would actually end up losing. The veteran averaged a career-high 5.0 yards per carry in 2023 with a career-high 1,040 rushing yards to match. He then bested that mark with 1,094 yards on 236 carries in 2024. His 47 catches and 414 receiving yards were his most since 2018, his second season in the league. It seems unlikely a healthy Conner will be coming off the field much, but we'll watch for more on Benson's chances of earning more work during camp.

Texans | Kirk A Big Believer In C.J. Stroud    Mon Jun 16, 02:52 PM

It hasn't taken long for Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk to become impressed with quarterback C.J. Stroud. Kirk believes Stroud can lead the Texans to a championship. "He's going to take this team as far as we want to go, with him being at his best," Kirk said.

Footballguys view: Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Kirk told listeners that the 23-year-old Stroud runs the offense like a seasoned veteran. "The thing that sticks out about C.J. is he's super mild-mannered, but he has a lot of confidence, he's smart, he sees things well," the wideout said. Kirk, who has previously played four years with the Cardinals and three with the Jaguars, was traded to the Texans in March. He thinks he's in the right place with the right quarterback. Fantasy investors who agree with Kirk will find Stroud available as QB20 in current drafts.

Vikings | Trial date set for Jordan Addison    Mon Jun 16, 02:35 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison reportedly attended a hearing in a California court on Monday, June 16, in connection to his DUI citation in 2024. Addison, who pleaded not guilty in December, is now scheduled to appear in court again on July 15.

Footballguys view: As Athlon Sports noted, the 23-year-old receiver is facing DUI charges for an incident where he was found asleep behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce in Los Angeles last summer. Addison pleaded not guilty in December. There has been continued speculation about when and if Addison might face a suspension from the NFL, which is awaiting the ruling of his trial. If the July 15 date is a jury trial, that would speed up resolution. We'll be watching for more, but the buzz around the league has suggested a three-game suspension would be likely if Addison is found guilty.

Patriots | Ja'Lynn Polk on the roster bubble?    Mon Jun 16, 01:24 PM

New England Patriots WR Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) was limited during offseason practices after undergoing shoulder surgery and could be a candidate for the Physically Unable to Perform list if he makes the team, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss.

Footballguys view: Per Reiss, Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, and rookie Kyle Williams are locks to make the final roster. The next tier, all of whom made consistent plays in OTAs: Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Efton Chism III. Reiss went on to suggest that Polk's status as a 2024 second-round pick could help buy him another year -- assuming he buys into the â€"effort and finish” mentality of the new staff. But even at that, Reiss believes Polk would open the season deep on the depth chart if he makes it.

Jets | Josh Reynolds entering camp as a starter    Mon Jun 16, 01:08 PM

New York Jets WR Josh Reynolds is the 'clear favorite for the WR2 job,' according to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.

Footballguys view: This isn't a huge surprise, given the competition. Allen Lazard was the WR2 when healthy last year, but the veteran has been the subject of trade rumors. Most notable among potential suitors would be Pittsburgh, where Aaron Rodgers landed as QB. Otherwise, second-year man Malachi Corley has been sidelined for more than a month with an unspecified injury. Meanwhile, Reynolds was in Detroit with new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. He has the most experience with the coaching staff of anyone on the offense.

Dolphins | Jonnu Smith's Situation In Miami Still Fluid    Mon Jun 16, 10:34 AM

Jonnu Smith did not attend the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp last week, but that doesn't mean the tight end will definitely be playing elsewhere this fall. During an appearance on WSVN on Sunday, Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the situation is "still fluid."

Footballguys view: The Dolphins have talked with other teams about trading Smith, who is looking for a new deal after signing a two-year, $8.4 million contract With Miami before last season. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has stated that the Dolphins aren't looking to move Smith, but they haven't given him a new contract, so it remains a possibility. As PFT reminded readers, Smith was one of the few bright spots for Miami last season, with 88 catches for 884 yards and four touchdowns. It will be a bit longer before we know whether he'll have a chance at an encore.
