Raiders | Devin White in on eight solo stops Sun Sep 7, 05:01 PM
Las Vegas Raiders LB Devin White logged 11 total stops, eight of the solo variety, and one tackle for loss in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Las Vegas WRs Jack Bech and Alex Bachman were each targeted one time in Week 1 against the New England Patriots. Bech had a 23-yard reception, while Bachman didn't have a catch.

Cleveland Browns WR Jerry Jeudy caught five passes for 66 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. He was targeted eight times during the game.

Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer registered four receptions for 38 yards on four targets in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. hauled in five of his six targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Harrison was the target by design on his second and goal score, and he was able to get free deep to reel in a long ball with excellent touch from Kyler Murray. It was a promising game if you were looking for the Cardinals to erase the disappointing lack of chemistry between Murray and Harrison last year. |
Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford rushed for eight yards on six carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. totaled two receptions for 45 yards on four targets in Week 1 against the New England Patriots.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders RB Zamir White ran three times for eight yards in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, and he was not targeted in the pass game.

Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers registered a game-high eight receptions and 10 targets in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, finishing with 97 receiving yards.
Footballguys view: Meyers was very reliable for Geno Smith and should be a steady everyweek WR2/WR3 start in PPR leagues. He could have an even higher ceiling next week if Brock Bowers can't go on Monday night against the Chargers. |

Updating a previous report, Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) left the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter due to a knee injury. He finished with five receptions for 103 yards on eight targets.
Link to storyArizona Cardinals RB Trey Benson rushed for 69 yards on eight carries and caught his only target for six more yards in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.
Link to storyCleveland Browns RB Dylan Sampson rushed for 29 yards on 12 carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. He also caught all eight of his targets in the passing game for 64 yards.
Footballguys view: Sampson outplayed veteran Jerome Ford, but his outlook for next week is clouded by the potential return of Quinshon Judkins after the second round pick signed his rookie deal yesterday. The Browns offense is also still low wattage, but the Bengals defense is even worse. Sampson will be an add in many leagues, but he is only a what-the-heck flex against the Ravens next week if Judkins is active. |
Las Vegas Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty ran 19 times for just 38 yards in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, although he did score his first NFL touchdown. He also had a pair of catches for two yards on his two targets.
Footballguys view: He displayed the advertised contact balance on his touchdown, but otherwise it was a very pedestrian day for Jeanty and the Raiders running game. Don't get too discouraged because it was a great day overall for the Raiders offense and very promising for everyone's outlook. A tougher matchup is up next week against the Chargers. |
Cleveland Browns QB Joe Flacco went 31-for-45 for 290 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
Footballguys view: Flacco was serviceable, and he doesn't have the most stellar group of wide receivers, but the Bengals are the worst defense he'll face this year. He's only a pickup in very deep leagues, but he can support the value of multiple pass catchers in this offense while the running game is stuck in neutral. |
Joe Flacco player page
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith completed 24-of-34 passes for 362 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, and he ran twice for 10 yards while taking four sacks. He had the most passing yards in a player's Raiders debut since Dan Pastorini set the team record with 317 yards in his debut in 1980.
Footballguys view: Smith had a big day against a Patriots secondary missing their #1 corner. It's not clear if Christian Gonzalez will be able to return from his hamstring injury next week, but the Patriots opponent is the Dolphins, so they may not need him. Smith was rejuvenated by being reunited with Pete Carroll in a Chip Kelly offense with Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers leading the way in the passing game. Smith will face a tough Chargers defense on Monday night next week. We'll see if Brock Bowers can play after leaving today with a minor knee injury before we make recommendations about Smith next week, but he should be picked up if you need a backup fantasy quarterback or otherwise were unhappy with the player(s) you drafted. |

Arizona Cardinals RB James Conner carried 12 times for 39 yards and caught all four of his targets for five yards and a touchdown in Week 1 versus the New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Conner scored on a shovel pass to bail out what could have been a fantasy disaster despite a somewhat ideal play with the lead game script for the Cardinals. The running game never got on track with Conner, and Trey Benson was the finisher after he recorded the longest run of the day. This isn't quite a running back by committee backfield, but Benson's role will definitely be a limiting factor for Benson's ceiling going forward. We should still be optimistic about Conner next week against the Panthers defense that Travis Etienne lit up today. |

Indianapolis Colts WR Ashton Dulin was not targeted in the passing game in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, but he had one run for 15 yards on his only offensive touch.
Link to storyAshton Dulin player page
Indianapolis Colts WR Josh Downs posted two receptions for 12 yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Footballguys view: The Colts passing game was reborn with Daniel Jones, but Downs was not one of the beneficiaries. With a tough matchup against the Broncos next week, Downs is a tough hold in short bench leagues. A hamstring injury from camp could also have contributed to his low production, but it is questionable whether Jones can support more than two fantasy options, and those will be Michael Pittman Jr. and Tyler Warren. |

Indianapolis Colts WR Adonai Mitchell absorbed both of his targets for 21 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Link to storyIndianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce had a single 36-yard reception on three targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray finished 21-of-29 for 163 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. Murray also rushed seven times for 38 yards.
Footballguys view: It wasn't a week-tilting matchup in fantasy leagues, but Murray looked sharp throwing downfield to Marvin Harrison Jr. and he had the juice as a runner that we hope to see week in, week out after a down couple of rushing production years for him. The Cardinals were leading comfortably for a lot of this game, so Murray will have a higher ceiling against better offenses. The Panthers are Arizona's opponent next week, and they didn't look any better than the Saints in Week 1. |
Kyler Murray player page
Indianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren gathered seven receptions for 76 yards on a game-high nine targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins in his NFL debut.
Footballguys view: The word has been that the Colts love Warren and want to feature him in the passing game from the moment they drafted him at #14, and so this wasn't that surprising. Daniel Jones playing well and the Dolphins defense (really entire team) being that bad was a bit out of the range of expectations. Warren will have a tougher matchup against the Broncos next week, but he should be projected as a fantasy TE1 going forward. |
Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase caught two passes for 26 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He was targeted five times during the game.
Footballguys view: No poor fantasy result from Week 1 hurt more than Chase's. He was the consensus #1 fantasy pick and barely made a dent in the box score. We'll have to keep him in the lineup no matter what - he and Burrow can make the most of small opportunity against less stout defenses than the Browns - but there's no way Chase would be drafted #1 if we picked our teams now. |
Ja'Marr Chase player page
Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant caught four passes for 26 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He was targeted five times during the game.
Footballguys view: Fant caught Joe Burrow's only touchdown and he was targeted more than Mike Gesicki. In fact, Fant tied Ja'Marr Chase for the team lead in targets. That could have been affected by the Browns making life hard for the downfield passing game, but Fant is still on our potential waiver wire pickup list with George Kittle and Brock Bowers not sure things for Week 2. |
Noah Fant player page
Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins caught three passes for 33 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He was targeted four times during the game.
Footballguys view: The Bengals struggled in the second half on offense, and for the entire game on defense. They only won because of the Browns self-inflicted wounds in the kicking game. No Bengals offensive player came in near expectations, including Higgins. We'll give him another shot against the Jaguars next week, but with Vikings and Broncos up in Weeks 3 and 4, we'll have to consider benching him if Week 2 is another dud. |

Indianapolis Colts WR Michael Pittman Jr. totaled six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown on eight targets in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.
Footballguys view: Once upon a time, Pittman was seen as a young #1 receiver on the rise. Anthony Richardson's play and a back injury torpedoed his value last year, but perhaps Daniel Jones will be able to remind us of what we once saw in Pittman for fantasy. The matchup is much tougher against Denver next week. If Pittman can put up a good line and Jones a good game against them, it's time to get excited. |
Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens rushed 12 times for 41 yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, and he was not targeted in the passing game.
Link to storyIndianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor rushed 18 times for 71 yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, while adding three receptions for 27 yards on three targets.
Footballguys view: DJ Giddens got 12 carries, but Taylor was the clear lead back. The fifth round rookie only got that many touches because this game was out of hand well before the clock read 00:00. If Daniel Jones can continue to play well against a much tougher Broncos defense next week, we should feel better about Taylor, although it keeps in play the possibility of Jones vulturing goal line scores, like he did twice today. |

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 22-of-29 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, while adding seven runs for 26 yards and a pair of scores.
Footballguys view: Jones was the biggest surprise of Week 1, but we may look back and say this was more about Dolphins defensive ineptitude than a Jones renaissance. While he should be added on the waiver wire, Jones should not be in lineups because of the Broncos matchup next week. If he looks good against Broncos, then it is time to make a major adjustment to expectations. |

Indianapolis Colts S Nick Cross, DL Samson Ebukam and DB Kenny Moore II each recorded one sack apiece in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. Cross tied for the team best with a total of six tackles, with four solo, and he had a tackle for loss and the quarterback hit, too.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown rushed for 43 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He caught two passes for eight yards during the game.
Footballguys view: Brown couldn't get anything going in the running game and wasn't used much in the passing game on a very poor afternoon for the Bengals offense. The Browns defense is good and deserves credit, but the Bengals defense had trouble getting off of the field against an anemic offense led by 40-year-old Joe Flacco, which gave the Bengals offense fewer drives to work with. Brown is still an everyweek fantasy starter, but this was a very discouraging game. |

Indianapolis Colts CB Camryn Bynum posted three total stops and one solo tackle with two passes defensed and an interception for 14 yards in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins.

Indianapolis Colts PK Spencer Shrader was busy in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, going 4-for-4 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points, finishing with a total of 15 points.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Dee Eskridge had a 9-yard catch on two targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, and he registered 109 yards on four kick returns.

Miami Dolphins WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine posted a 7-yard reception on his only offensive touch on two targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Miami Dolphins TE Tanner Conner and WR Malik Washington each posted two receptions for 20 yards apiece in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Conner had four targets, while Washington had five targets, while also running once for nine yards.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle registered three receptions for 30 yards on five targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Footballguys view: In addition to being sidelined briefly by a shoulder injury (he returned to finish the game), Waddle was a victim of a team-wide Dolphins performance that had the stink of a team that needs to be blown up. He's worth holding because his value could get a boost if Tyreek Hill is dealt at some point, but Waddle, isn't trustworthy in Week 2 lineups. |
Jaylen Waddle player page
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill posted four receptions for 40 yards on six targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Footballguys view: Hill was also visibly frustrated on the sidelines. If he has another result like this next week, it might be time to bench him in fantasy leagues. Put together offseason trade rumors, the state of the Chiefs passing game, and the state of the Dolphins, and Hill should be traded to Kansas City any day now. |
Tyreek Hill player page
Miami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II rushed twice for four yards in his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, while adding a catch for minus-1 yard on his only target.
Footballguys view: Gordon had a small role and didn't show much in it. The Dolphins aren't going to have much punch behind De'Von Achane in the running game until Jaylen Wright is back from leg surgery, and maybe not even then. Gordon can be dropped. |
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane ran seven times for 55 yards in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, and he added three receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown on four targets.
Footballguys view: Achane got the garbage time score and showed no effects from a multiweek preseason absence because of a calf injury. The Dolphins defense was bad, and their offense was even worse. Both are going to limit Achane's opportunity this year, but he is still an everyweek fantasy starter with big play upside. But you certainly would not have drafted him as high if you had seen this game in his future. |
Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 14-of-23 passes for 114 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. He was pulled in the fourth quarter with the game out of hand, as backup QB Zach Wilson finishes up.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins offense was worse than even the lowest expectations. They only scored in garbage time, and alternated turnovers and drives that had little chance of success before that. The Colts defense might be underrated, but this should not considered an indication that they are more responsible for this outcome than a Dolphins team that could be on the verge of implosion. There's no reason to carry Tagovailoa in one quarterback leagues. He'll face the Patriots next week. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow went 14-for-23 for 113 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.
Footballguys view: The Browns defense is pretty good and they tend to limit Burrow's production. He also started slow against the Patriots last year. Still, this is positively anemic, and the culprit is actually the Bengals defense. The Browns offense is underwhelming and destined to be a bottom five unit, but they still possessed the ball for almost 36 minutes against Cincinnati. What are actual NFL offenses going to do against the Bengals defense? What will the Jaguars do against them next week? If the game script is similar to this one, it's time to get worried. |

Miami Dolphins OT Austin Jackson (toe) left the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a toe injury, and he is considered questionable to return.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave (chest) suffered a chest injury during the Week 1 game and is considered questionable to return.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) left the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter due to a knee injury, and he is listed as questionable to return. Bowers had five receptions for 103 yards on eight targets before departing.
Footballguys view: This game started and ended with terrible news for Bowers fantasy teams, which bookended the typical brilliance from the second year tight end that made him the consensus #1 player at his position in fantasy leagues. The Raiders decided to limit Bowers to about 1/3 of the snaps on their early drives, which mimicked preseason usage that most failed to believe was a credible plan. Later, Bowers broke free for multiple long gains, and it felt like everything was going to be ok despite the Raiders hard-headed coaching decisions. Then, Bowers left late in the game because of a knee. Michael Mayer was an early second round pick and very capable, so pending the news on Bowers' injury, Bowers teams could be targeting Mayer (or Juwan Johnson or Harold Fannin or Jonnu Smith or Noah Fant) to have an option for their Week 2 lineup. |
Carolina Panthers DT Tershawn Wharton (hamstring) left the Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, this time due to a hamstring injury, and he has been ruled out for the game.
