Colts | Daniel Jones totals three touchdowns Sun Sep 7, 04:10 PM
Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 22-of-29 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, while adding seven runs for 26 yards and a pair of scores.
Footballguys view: Jones was the biggest surprise of Week 1, but we may look back and say this was more about Dolphins defensive ineptitude than a Jones renaissance. While he should be added on the waiver wire, Jones should not be in lineups because of the Broncos matchup next week. If he looks good against Broncos, then it is time to make a major adjustment to expectations. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown rushed for 43 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. He caught two passes for eight yards during the game.
Footballguys view: Brown couldn't get anything going in the running game and wasn't used much in the passing game on a very poor afternoon for the Bengals offense. The Browns defense is good and deserves credit, but the Bengals defense had trouble getting off of the field against an anemic offense led by 40-year-old Joe Flacco, which gave the Bengals offense fewer drives to work with. Brown is still an everyweek fantasy starter, but this was a very discouraging game. |

Miami Dolphins TE Tanner Conner and WR Malik Washington each posted two receptions for 20 yards apiece in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Conner had four targets, while Washington had five targets, while also running once for nine yards.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle registered three receptions for 30 yards on five targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Footballguys view: In addition to being sidelined briefly by a shoulder injury (he returned to finish the game), Waddle was a victim of a team-wide Dolphins performance that had the stink of a team that needs to be blown up. He's worth holding because his value could get a boost if Tyreek Hill is dealt at some point, but Waddle, isn't trustworthy in Week 2 lineups. |

Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill posted four receptions for 40 yards on six targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Footballguys view: Hill was also visibly frustrated on the sidelines. If he has another result like this next week, it might be time to bench him in fantasy leagues. Put together offseason trade rumors, the state of the Chiefs passing game, and the state of the Dolphins, and Hill should be traded to Kansas City any day now. |

Miami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II rushed twice for four yards in his NFL debut in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, while adding a catch for minus-1 yard on his only target.
Footballguys view: Gordon had a small role and didn't show much in it. The Dolphins aren't going to have much punch behind De'Von Achane in the running game until Jaylen Wright is back from leg surgery, and maybe not even then. Gordon can be dropped. |
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane ran seven times for 55 yards in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, and he added three receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown on four targets.
Footballguys view: Achane got the garbage time score and showed no effects from a multiweek preseason absence because of a calf injury. The Dolphins defense was bad, and their offense was even worse. Both are going to limit Achane's opportunity this year, but he is still an everyweek fantasy starter with big play upside. But you certainly would not have drafted him as high if you had seen this game in his future. |
Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 14-of-23 passes for 114 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. He was pulled in the fourth quarter with the game out of hand, as backup QB Zach Wilson finishes up.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins offense was worse than even the lowest expectations. They only scored in garbage time, and alternated turnovers and drives that had little chance of success before that. The Colts defense might be underrated, but this should not considered an indication that they are more responsible for this outcome than a Dolphins team that could be on the verge of implosion. There's no reason to carry Tagovailoa in one quarterback leagues. He'll face the Patriots next week. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow went 14-for-23 for 113 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.
Footballguys view: The Browns defense is pretty good and they tend to limit Burrow's production. He also started slow against the Patriots last year. Still, this is positively anemic, and the culprit is actually the Bengals defense. The Browns offense is underwhelming and destined to be a bottom five unit, but they still possessed the ball for almost 36 minutes against Cincinnati. What are actual NFL offenses going to do against the Bengals defense? What will the Jaguars do against them next week? If the game script is similar to this one, it's time to get worried. |

Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) left the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter due to a knee injury, and he is listed as questionable to return. Bowers had five receptions for 103 yards on eight targets before departing.
Footballguys view: This game started and ended with terrible news for Bowers fantasy teams, which bookended the typical brilliance from the second year tight end that made him the consensus #1 player at his position in fantasy leagues. The Raiders decided to limit Bowers to about 1/3 of the snaps on their early drives, which mimicked preseason usage that most failed to believe was a credible plan. Later, Bowers broke free for multiple long gains, and it felt like everything was going to be ok despite the Raiders hard-headed coaching decisions. Then, Bowers left late in the game because of a knee. Michael Mayer was an early second round pick and very capable, so pending the news on Bowers' injury, Bowers teams could be targeting Mayer (or Juwan Johnson or Harold Fannin or Jonnu Smith or Noah Fant) to have an option for their Week 2 lineup. |
