Texans | Kirk A Big Believer In C.J. Stroud    Mon Jun 16, 02:52 PM

It hasn't taken long for Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk to become impressed with quarterback C.J. Stroud. Kirk believes Stroud can lead the Texans to a championship. "He's going to take this team as far as we want to go, with him being at his best," Kirk said.

Footballguys view: Appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Kirk told listeners that the 23-year-old Stroud runs the offense like a seasoned veteran. "The thing that sticks out about C.J. is he's super mild-mannered, but he has a lot of confidence, he's smart, he sees things well," the wideout said. Kirk, who has previously played four years with the Cardinals and three with the Jaguars, was traded to the Texans in March. He thinks he's in the right place with the right quarterback. Fantasy investors who agree with Kirk will find Stroud available as QB20 in current drafts.

Vikings | Trial date set for Jordan Addison    Mon Jun 16, 02:35 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison reportedly attended a hearing in a California court on Monday, June 16, in connection to his DUI citation in 2024. Addison, who pleaded not guilty in December, is now scheduled to appear in court again on July 15.

Footballguys view: As Athlon Sports noted, the 23-year-old receiver is facing DUI charges for an incident where he was found asleep behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce in Los Angeles last summer. Addison pleaded not guilty in December. There has been continued speculation about when and if Addison might face a suspension from the NFL, which is awaiting the ruling of his trial. If the July 15 date is a jury trial, that would speed up resolution. We'll be watching for more, but the buzz around the league has suggested a three-game suspension would be likely if Addison is found guilty.

Patriots | Ja'Lynn Polk on the roster bubble?    Mon Jun 16, 01:24 PM

New England Patriots WR Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) was limited during offseason practices after undergoing shoulder surgery and could be a candidate for the Physically Unable to Perform list if he makes the team, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss.

Footballguys view: Per Reiss, Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, and rookie Kyle Williams are locks to make the final roster. The next tier, all of whom made consistent plays in OTAs: Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Efton Chism III. Reiss went on to suggest that Polk's status as a 2024 second-round pick could help buy him another year -- assuming he buys into the â€"effort and finish” mentality of the new staff. But even at that, Reiss believes Polk would open the season deep on the depth chart if he makes it.

Jets | Josh Reynolds entering camp as a starter    Mon Jun 16, 01:08 PM

New York Jets WR Josh Reynolds is the 'clear favorite for the WR2 job,' according to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.

Footballguys view: This isn't a huge surprise, given the competition. Allen Lazard was the WR2 when healthy last year, but the veteran has been the subject of trade rumors. Most notable among potential suitors would be Pittsburgh, where Aaron Rodgers landed as QB. Otherwise, second-year man Malachi Corley has been sidelined for more than a month with an unspecified injury. Meanwhile, Reynolds was in Detroit with new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. He has the most experience with the coaching staff of anyone on the offense.

Dolphins | Jonnu Smith's Situation In Miami Still Fluid    Mon Jun 16, 10:34 AM

Jonnu Smith did not attend the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp last week, but that doesn't mean the tight end will definitely be playing elsewhere this fall. During an appearance on WSVN on Sunday, Smith's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the situation is "still fluid."

Footballguys view: The Dolphins have talked with other teams about trading Smith, who is looking for a new deal after signing a two-year, $8.4 million contract With Miami before last season. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has stated that the Dolphins aren't looking to move Smith, but they haven't given him a new contract, so it remains a possibility. As PFT reminded readers, Smith was one of the few bright spots for Miami last season, with 88 catches for 884 yards and four touchdowns. It will be a bit longer before we know whether he'll have a chance at an encore.

Jets | Justin Fields more confident    Mon Jun 16, 12:31 AM

New York Jets QB Justin Fields said he feels more comfortable taking command of the offense this year than he did last season in Pittsburgh when he was involved in a quarterback competition. 'It's definitely easier,' Fields said. 'I think last year was - it was kind of weird a little bit.'

Footballguys view: According to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini, the full Fields experience was on display during Wednesday's minicamp session. He overthrew a couple of open receivers, hit Garrett Wilson with a 50-yard dime, placed the ball perfectly on a 6-yard corner route to Josh Reynolds for a touchdown, and showed his speed on some designed runs. The goal when training camp opens will be to gain consistency, which has been an issue for Fields throughout his career. Fortunately for Fields, he's the undisputed QB1 and will get all the reps this summer.

Buccaneers | Emeka Egbuka impressing teammate    Mon Jun 16, 12:30 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka has impressed WR Mike Evans during workouts and minicamp. 'He looks like a running back, but I mean, he catches like Chris Godwin,' Evans said. 'He's a very polished, very well-rounded player.'

Footballguys view: In Evans and Godwin, the Bucs have one of the top tandems in the league. Evans, a six-time Pro Bowler, can still dominate opponents. Godwin was fantasy's WR2 when a dislocated ankle ended his 2024 season in Week 7. Jalen McMillan flashed scoring potential last season, coming on strong down the stretch. The additions of Egbuka and seventh-rounder Tez Johnson give Tampa more wideouts than it can get on the field at once. Short-term investors may want to temper expectations for Egbuka. But he's is WR4 on the Footballguys Rookie Rankings, so the long-term value is there.

Steelers | T.J. Watt holdout not contentious    Mon Jun 16, 12:29 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt was absent from mandatory minicamp due to contract concerns, but the holdout is not considered contentious, according to sources Sunday, June 15.

Footballguys view: USA Today's Andrew Vasquez added to this by suggesting that despite concerns over whether or not the Steelers are even close to the number Watt is looking for, there seems to be an overreaction stemming from his minicamp absence -- one that can be easily alleviated if the star pass rusher shows up at training camp next month.

Jaguars | Travis Etienne loves new offense    Sun Jun 15, 01:27 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne said he thinks he will be a good fit for head coach Liam Coen's offensive system. 'He's been getting me in a lot of space,' Etienne said.

Footballguys view: Liam Coen said there was nothing to reports that the new regime didn't like Etienne. Combine that with another report now that Etienne will be getting the ball more in space in Coen's offense, and it's possible that Etienne plummeting in drafts after the team took Bhayshul Tuten in the fourth round was an overreaction. As we head into the NFL news dead zone, it might be time to move Etienne up and Tuten down until we start to get training camp reports. Etienne should get incumbent treatment to open camp despite being under a new regime.

Bills | Keon Coleman struggling with drops    Sun Jun 15, 01:27 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Keon Coleman has to answer some 'consistency questions' after struggling with drops during minicamp, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: The team added Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore to the "everyone eats" pass offense, so there's not a clear path to consistent production for Coleman, especially if he's not showing clear improvement from a typically uneven rookie year. It's possible that no Bills receiver is trustworthy in lineups other than Khalil Shakir.

49ers | Brandon Aiyuk embracing recovery    Sun Jun 15, 01:27 PM

San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee) is doing a 'tremendous job' with his recovery from knee surgery, according to general manager John Lynch.

Footballguys view: Offseason comments about Aiyuk have outlined a wide range of outcomes in his return from ACL surgery. Anything from a Week 1 return ("a chance" per Kyle Shanahan) to beginning the season on the PUP list and missing the first 4 games is in play. Aiyuk won't be trustworthy in lineups in his first week back and it could take some time for him to knock off of the rust, especially if he misses all of training camp. It will be 10 and a half months since his ACL tear (October 20, 2024) when the season opens. Aiyuk is going after Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall in drafts, but he could be the most valuable of the three in the second half of the season.

Broncos | Bo Nix more comfortable    Sun Jun 15, 01:27 PM

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix appears to he more comfortable this offseason and seems to be doing things with more confidence, according to head coach Sean Payton. 'Less pause, less hesitation with the play call in the huddle,' Payton said. 'Less pause, less hesitation in the pocket. He's playing fast. Again, protecting the ball. He's hard to sack. He was hard to sack in college. You're seeing him play faster with more confidence.'

Footballguys view: Nix got better as the season went on last year, in both fantasy and NFL teams. The team added Evan Engram in the offseason in addition to Nix being more comfortable in Sean Payton's offense. Nix's arrow is pointing up from a place at the end of last season that already justifies his ADP as a low QB1.

Saints | Cam Akers contract update    Sun Jun 15, 01:27 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Cam Akers (Vikings) signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints Friday, June 13. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Akers will be competing to back up Alvin Kamara. This is not a sign of confidence in the backs the team currently has on the roster behind Kamara, most notably Kendre Miller, who was in the doghouse during the Dennis Allen era.

Saints | Alvin Kamara to continue to have big role    Sun Jun 15, 01:23 PM

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara will continue to be a significant part of the running and passing game in the new offensive scheme, according to head coach Kellen Moore.

Footballguys view: Kamara was a top five PPR back last year, but he is falling to the fourth round or later in drafts right now. There's not a lot of confidence that he will maintain his level of play and production from last year going into his age 30 season with Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shough at quarterback, but that creates enough of a discount to keep him in consideration at his current ADP.

Jets | Breece Hall ready to compete for work    Sun Jun 15, 12:10 PM

New York Jets RB Breece Hall said he understands he is not entitled to play time and is ready to compete for playing time during training camp. 'I'm around a new GM, new coaches, a lot of new faces. So for me, I've got to prove that I'm 'the guy' every day. I feel like my skill set, I'm a three-down back and second-to-none to a lot of backs in the league,' Hall said.

Footballguys view: This gives credence to the idea that Aaron Glenn wasn't engaging in pure coachspeak when he said the team will rely on all three of Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis this season. While that puts a damper on expectations for Hall, he could rise above the second year backs when the games count in September and make letting him fall out of the first two rounds in fantasy drafts look foolish. Hall has one of the widest ranges of outcomes in fantasy this year.

Commanders | WAS wants Terry McLaurin to remain    Sun Jun 15, 11:02 AM

The Washington Commanders reportedly would like for WR Terry McLaurin to remain with the organization for the rest of his career. He is entering the final season of his current contract and has been frustrated with the deliberate pace of contract extension talks, choosing to skip the team's mandatory minicamp last week.

Footballguys view: Expect this deal to get done, as the Commanders are clearly in a Super Bowl window. McLaurin is being drafted at his ceiling, but there's good reason to think he'll be there, or even a tick higher if Jayden Daniels takes a step forward this year.

Browns | Cleveland open to having 4 QBs on roster    Sun Jun 15, 10:18 AM

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said that the organization is 'absolutely, absolutely, absolutely' open to keeping all four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster (Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders) if each of them plays well enough.

Footballguys view: It's very difficult to project the Browns pass offense this year. Flacco is the favorite to open the season as the starter, and he would be good for Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, David Njoku, and really the whole offense. If the team is out of contention or Flacco plays the way he did at times in Indianapolis last year, the Browns could look to a rookie or Pickett. If that rookie is Shedeur Sanders, the passing game could be ok, but the team preferred Gabriel in the draft. Good luck predicting how this will go.

Steelers | Jaylen Warren made changes to offseason routine    Sun Jun 15, 09:35 AM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Warren made adjustments to his offseason workout routine, in anticipation of shouldering a heavier workload at running back than he has in previous seasons, due to the departure of RB Najee Harris via free agency. 'I did a lot more things for longevity wise, instead of my old-school training like just getting the cleats on and running 30 hills,' Warren said. 'I had to adapt. This game is about longevity. And like they say, the best ability is availability.'

Footballguys view: The wind went out of the sails of Warren's ADP after the Steelers took Kaleb Johnson in the third round. The mystery box appeal of rookie running backs immediately vaulted Johnson rounds ahead of Warren in ADP, but perhaps that was too hasty. It sounds like Warren will be treated as the starter to open camp, and while rookies can impress with their fresh legs, they can also be unreliable and suffer injuries adjusting the NFL grind. Warren might be underrated in fantasy drafts.

Giants | Graham Gano has slight edge    Sun Jun 15, 09:25 AM

New York Giants PK Graham Gano appears to have a slight edge in the competition for against PK Jude McAtamney.   Commanders | Michael Gallup may be ready for camp    Sat Jun 14, 03:28 PM

Washington Commanders WR Michael Gallup (hamstring) did not participate in any drills during the mandatory minicamp because of a hamstring injury, but the team hopes he will be ready for training camp.

Footballguys view: Gallup has battled various injuries over his seasons with the Cowboys. He came out of retirement to play with the Commanders this year after hanging up his cleats during a brief stint with the Raiders in 2024 (just in the offseason, training camp). Gallup is not the same player he used to be before his ACL injury back in 2021. He's going to be competing for a depth spot on the Commanders depth chart and may not make the 53-man roster.

Vikings | OC optimistic about Jalen Nailor    Sat Jun 14, 02:45 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Jalen Nailor is still moving well on the field despite adding some weight this offseason, and offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said he expects big things from Nailor in 2025 after having a productive 2024.

Footballguys view: He's looking to do more after catching 28 passes for 414 yards and six touchdowns during the 2024 regular season. Nailor is the Vikings no.3 receiver behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. The Vikings added Tai Felton in the third round to compete in the room with guys like Nailor. Addison has a jury trial scheduled for June 16 in California in connection to his DUI citation in July of 2024. If he's suspended by the league for a few games, Nailor will be tasked with doing more.

Vikings | Giovanni Ricci signed    Sat Jun 14, 02:40 PM

Free-agent TE Giovanni Ricci (Patriots) signed with the Minnesota Vikings Tuesday, June 10. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Western Michigan in 2020, Ricci has bounced around to four teams during that time. He's a converted wide receiver who is running out of time to prove himself at the pro level.

Titans | Kalel Mullings back on field    Sat Jun 14, 02:19 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Kalel Mullings (undisclosed) participated in the mandatory minicamp after dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick out of Michigan, Mullings was a converted linebacker who has the ability to beat up defenders on the ground. He's still developing as a running back, and Mullings needs to show he can catch passes out of the backfield too. He's buried on the Titans depth chart, but we'll monitor Mullings in super deep dynasty formats.

Colts | Good news for Anthony Richardson    Sat Jun 14, 12:35 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp after receiving a second opinion on his injured shoulder.

Footballguys view: That's the news Richardson wanted to hear, and that's why he went for a second opinion. The Colts have Daniel Jones there to start if Richardson is not healthy...again. Richardson has talent, but he's injured far too often and is in a make-it-or-break-it year. We'll see how much Richardson can do in training camp and the preseason.

Browns | Big role for Cedric Tillman?    Sat Jun 14, 12:35 PM

Cleveland Browns WR Cedric Tillman is a 'locked-in starter' when healthy, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: We'll see who wins the Browns quarterback job before we get too excited about pass catchers not named Jerry Jeudy or David Njoku. Tillman has Diontae Johnson as his primary competition for the no.2 receiver job. If/when Tillman wins that job (and if the quarterback thing is somewhat stable), there will be some flex appeal with him for Fantasy GMs in deeper leagues.

Broncos | Limited role for RJ Harvey?    Sat Jun 14, 12:35 PM

Denver Broncos RB RJ Harvey could have a 'situational role' in the offense this season, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Many are thinking Harvey could be Sean Payton's new version of Alvin Kamara. While that's certainly a possibility, there's more of a chance that he's more Darren Sproles this year...with newly signed JK Dobbins playing the Mark Ingram role. This is going to be a 2-headed RBBC in Denver, and we could see Dobbins getting more touches because he's trusted in pass protection. Harvey is dynamic, and he could catch a lot of passes from Bo Nix this year. We'll see how he does in pass protection during the preseason, and that will help determine who much playing time he takes away from Dobbins.

Browns | Cleveland QBs impress during minicamp    Sat Jun 14, 11:18 AM

Cleveland Browns QBs Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders each received plenty of touches during the team's recent minicamp and all performed well in various situations, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.

Footballguys view: Ah yes, the cluster you-know-what continues in Cleveland at the quarterback position. They all have different skill sets, but we think this competition could come down to Flacco versus Sanders. Flacco has the experience, but Sanders might be the best pure passer of the bunch. Forget that Sanders was a fifth-round pick, as the talent is there for him to at least get a chance as a starter in the NFL. The Browns might decide to give Sanders the job if he continues to impress in training camp and the preseason. However, they could always roll with one of the other three because, ya know, Cleveland.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce loses weight    Sat Jun 14, 09:38 AM

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce did not participate in optional organized team activities earlier this week but he will be in attendance for mandatory minicamp next week. He has told people close to him that he lost approximately 25 pounds this offseason, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Footballguys view: Father Time is undefeated, and Kelce is not the player he used to be. However, losing the weight will help him feel better and move faster. We'll see if the lost weight prevents Kelce from taking the NFL beating he's endured for years. Patrick Mahomes said he thinks Kelce â€"feels better than even last year before going into last season.” Fantasy GMs can look to Kelce as a low-end TE1 in drafts this year.

Saints | Cam Akers joining Saints    Fri Jun 13, 06:08 PM

Free-agent RB Cam Akers (Vikings) agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints Friday, June 13, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Akers participated in the team's minicamp this week on a tryout basis. He joins Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, Devin Neal, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the running backs room. Akers, 25, spent last season with the Texans and Vikings. Between the two teams, he rushed for 444 yards and two touchdowns on 104 carries and added 14 catches for 68 yards and three touchdowns. Akers is unlikely to cut into Kamara's workload, but he could move into the rotation behind the starter. We'll watch for more when camp opens.

Browns | Harold Fannin Jr. impressing    Fri Jun 13, 04:57 PM

Cleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. has stood out during OTAs, according to tight ends coach Christian Z. Jones. 'The guy catches everything, tracks the ball well and really adjusts to the ball in the air,' Jones said.

Footballguys view: Fannin could be on the field a lot this year, along with stalwart David Njoku, limiting the number of three wide receiver sets - which is the main way Diontae Johnson can get on the field. The passing game could have a pulse if Joe Flacco starts, but don't expect him to remain the starter all year as the Browns will want to see what they have in draft picks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. While Fannin is worth stashing in dynasty leagues, it's difficult to see him mattering in redraft leagues.

Jets | Breece Hall to stay busy?    Fri Jun 13, 04:57 PM

New York Jets RB Breece Hall could be the 'No. 2 option' in the passing game, in the opinion of Zack Rosenblatt.

Footballguys view: Hall has fallen from the top five of 2024 drafts to the third round of 2025 drafts, largely because of the suggestion by head coach Aaron Glenn that there will be a three-headed backfield with Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis. He also said today that he was playing through a "pretty serious" knee injury last year, but one that did not require surgery. So it's possible we still haven't seen him return all the way to form after a 2022 ACL tear. If Hall can separate from the younger backs and become the clear lead back again, he could be one of the best picks of the draft, but if he doesn't, he might not even be startable. While this is an optimistic report, it might not be difficult to be the second option in the Jets passing game this year with lackluster options at wide receiver behind Garrett Wilson.

Colts | Coach happy with Daniel Jones    Fri Jun 13, 04:57 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones has performed well during the mandatory minicamp this week and has picked up the offense very well, according to head coach Shane Steichen.

Footballguys view: Don't scoff at the possibility of Jones having fantasy value this year. He was QB10 a few years back with the Giants on the strength of his running ability, and he'll have a lot better receivers than he had back then. Jones might have also benefitted from a few months to learn from QB guru Kevin O'Connell when he was with the Vikings.

Steelers | Calvin Austin in line for big role    Fri Jun 13, 04:57 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Calvin Austin is the team's No. 2 receiver at this point, according to wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni.

Footballguys view: The Steelers passing game is not a good place to look for hidden gems, although if there's going to be one, it's likely Austin. He has the speed to take short targets delivered on time and accurately from Aaron Rodgers to the house, and he can benefit on his deep routes from safety attention on DK Metcalf. He's worth a late round pick in best ball leagues.

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook said he hopes to receive a contract extension and wants to remain with the team for a long time. General manager Brandon Beane said he has talked with Cook several times this week and expects Cook to report for training camp.

Footballguys view: Cook showed up for OTAs, so we don't have to worry about a holdout here. His low RB1 value was based in part on a high touchdown rate, but he is being drafted as an RB2 and the Bills offense is still likely to be one of the highest scoring units in the league. Cook is a safe pick at his current ADP.

New England Patriots WR DeMario Douglas 'looked at home' working out of the slot this spring and was Drake Maye's favorite receiver in the final two practices of the late spring, according to Evan Lazar of the team's website.

Footballguys view: Douglas has been the favorite target of Drake Maye in OTAs, and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels made fantasy stars out of slot receivers in New England in the past. Stefon Diggs is currently the highest drafted Patriots receiver coming off of an ACL tear, and Douglas is available in the late rounds. That could change as the summer goes on.

Saints | Chris Olave not worried about injury history    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave has suffered four concussions since entering the NFL but said he is not worried about his injury history.

Footballguys view: He might not be, but fantasy players are letting the #1 target for the Saints fall to the fifth round (or later) of drafts in part because of his injury history. Lack of trust in Spencer Rattler or second round pick Tyler Shough to make Olave a consistent fantasy presence could also be dragging down Olave's ADP.

Panthers | Derrick Brown may be ready for camp    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Carolina Panthers DT Derrick Brown (knee) said he hopes he will be able to be ready for the start of training camp.

Footballguys view: Derrick Brown is a force against the run. The Panthers rush defense basically collapsed without him last year after his season was ended by a meniscus injury in Week 1. We'll be watching his progress in camp to help project the Week 1 matchup against the new-look Jaguars offense.

Vikings | J.J. McCarthy confident in knee    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (knee) told reporters on Thursday, June 12, that he received full clearance to practice on his surgically repaired knee from the team's medical staff right before the start of training camp. McCarthy also added that his knee feels 'stronger than ever.'

Footballguys view: This will be one of the most important storylines to watch in camp and the preseason. McCarthy and the Vikings offense has a wide range of outcomes, hinging on how ready the second year player is ready to pilot the offense after missing almost all of 2024. He was reportedly on the verge of pushing Sam Darnold to start as a rookie before suffering the season-ending knee injury, so we should expect the more optimistic side of the outlook, but we'll be watching the reports out of camp closely.

Commanders | Noah Brown set for MRI    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Washington Commanders WR Noah Brown (undisclosed) is scheduled to undergo an MRI after being carted off the field during practice Wednesday, June 11, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Footballguys view: We're still waiting for the results here. The team traded for Deebo Samuel to be the #2 receiver, but also gave Brown almost $2.5 million guaranteed on his one-year deal to return and be the #3 receiver. Any time he misses will give 2024 third round pick Luke McCaffrey and 2025 fourth round pick Jaylin Lane a chance to shine. Both have had good offseasons to date and should have momentum going into training camp. Veterans KJ Osborn and Michael Gallup are also vying for roster spots at wide receiver.

Texans | Jimmie Ward in trouble with the law    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Houston Texans DB Jimmie Ward is facing a felony assault family violence charge following an incident at his home on Thursday, June 12.

Footballguys view: As we've seen in recent years, the NFL prefers to wait to suspend players for off-field incidents until after the legal system has concluded its process, which can take years. Ward opened last season as a starter for the Texans, but missed almost half of the season and the playoffs. The team traded for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and has Calen Bullock and Jalen Pitre youthfully ascending at safety, so Ward is not essential if he does have to sit out at some point in 2025 because of this.

Packers | MarShawn Lloyd pronounces himself healthy    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Green Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd played only one game last season due to multiple injuries but told reporters on Thursday, June 12, that he has been 100% for 'some time now.'

Footballguys view: Lloyd's health and performance in camp and the preseason will be a big part of sorting out who we need to target as the player who would benefit the most in fantasy leagues if Josh Jacobs misses times. Lloyd is the most talented, and the Packers liked him enough to take him in the third round last year. Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks both went undrafted when they entered the league, but they performed well for the team down the stretch last year and complement each other well, with Brooks playing on passing downs. The Packers might be forced to keep four backs, and if they don't expect whomever they release to be claimed on waivers before Week 1.

Bills | Maxwell Hairston sidelined with hamstring issue    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in practice on Wednesday, June 11, and did not practice on Thursday, June 12. According to general manager Brandon Beane, Hairston is receiving treatment on the injury and expected to be ready for the start of training camp next month.

Footballguys view: Hairston was presumably drafted to match with the speedy receivers the Bills will have to face in the playoffs. We'll be watching to see if he's ready for the open of camp and can stay healthy so he can suit up for the highly anticipated season opener against Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of the Baltimore Ravens.
