Link to storyGreen Bay Packers DE Micah Parsons (back) is dealing with a facet joint sprain in his back and may need an epidural injection before the Week 1 game, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Before trading Parsons last week, the Dallas Cowboys prescribed him a five-day course of prednisone, an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid to help him recover from back tightness. They also had him on a physical therapy program. Parsons has been practicing this week, and he is trying to play Sunday, although one source told ESPN's Adam Schefter it still is not certain if he will. We'll follow up as needed. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings (calf) is participating during the media-access portion of practice Monday, Sept. 1.
Footballguys view: Jennings missed most of training camp due to the injury. While speculation swirled that his absence could be tied to his ongoing contract dispute with the 49ers, GM John Lynch told reporters the team had moved past the wideout's trade request. We'll continue to monitor Jennings' progress ahead of this week's game against the Seahawks, but it seems like a reach to believe he'll be ready for full duty in this one. We expect Ricky Pearsall, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle to be Brock Purdy's primary targets in this one. |

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) has a significant quad strain, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Footballguys view: A report out of Carolina on Sunday suggested Coker, who is out at least four games, could end up missing six weeks because of this injury. Coker was poised to start in the slot after Adam Thielen was dealt to Minnesota, but that spot will go to Hunter Renfrow, who rejoins the team after an up-and-down training camp. It remains to be seen if any of the team's receiving assets beyond rookie Tetairoa McMillan emerge as viable fantasy assets, but we'll watch for signs that's happening in coming weeks. |
Updating an earlier report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Warren's two-year deal includes $7 million this year with $12 million total guaranteed.
Footballguys view: The deal also includes a $5.95 million signing bonus, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Warren gets $5.05 million in 2026 and $5.15 million in 2027 for a total of $17.25 million over three years, a source told Fowler. With Najee Harris allowed to move on as a free agent this offseason, Warren is left to lead a position group that also includes rookie third-round pick Kaleb Johnson and former Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell. |
Miami Dolphins TE Darren Waller is on track to play in Week 1, according to head coach Mike McDaniel.
Footballguys view: As USA Today reminded readers, Waller was once one of the top tight ends in the league during his back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Raiders in 2019 and 2020. Now, however, coming off a one-year retirement, expectations are low. Could they be too low? Waller is a proven pass-catching tight end and could benefit from defenses having to account for the deep threats of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. But Warren must be on the field to do that. So, assuming all goes well, this week will be the first step in regaining the confidence of fantasy investors. |

Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (oblique) is on track to play in Week 1, according to head coach Mike McDaniel.
Footballguys view: Hill suffered an oblique injury early last month, and the Dolphins took a very cautious approach with his recovery. Still, Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said a week ago that his client would be "ready to play" Week 1 when the Dolphins take on the Colts in Indianapolis. We'll continue to watch for more, but with McDaniel now confirming the news, it seems all systems are go. |

Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (calf) will practice Monday, Sept. 2.
Footballguys view: Today's practice should be the first step in Achane solidifying his availability for Sunday's season opener against the Colts. "We've been very aggressive with treatment, so there's no setback, head coach Mike McDaniel said. "And that will be the focus, if he doesn't have any setbacks, he'll be playing." The Dolphins issue their first injury report of the week on Wednesday. Assuming he's ready to go, Achane is a locked-in RB1. In 17 games last year, Achane rushed for 907 yards with six touchdowns and caught 78 passes for 592 yards with another six TDs. We'll be watching for more. |
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams wants to be a top-5 quarterback in the NFL, and head coach Ben Johnson is coaching him that way. 'The standard has been set, the bar has been set high,' Johnson said Sunday, Aug. 31. 'He has said he wants to not just be one of the best Top 5 quarterbacks in this league, but he wants to have a legacy that lasts for a long time. So, we're coaching him that way.'
Footballguys view: Fantasy managers have seen Williams produce at a high level. While he struggled under offensive coordinator Shane Waldron early last year, once Waldron was fired after Week 10, we got an immediate bump with Thomas Brown calling plays from Weeks 11 to 13. Williams was QB4 over that span, averaging 22.4 points per game. In Weeks 12 and 13 alone, he was QB3, putting up 25.5 per game. Williams finished the summer with a QB14 ADP right now, just behind his QB12 projection at Footballguys. The upside is there, but Williams still has plenty to prove on the field. |
Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) said Sunday, Aug. 31, that he is playing in the Week 1 regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Footballguys view: Brown missed three games last season with a hamstring issue. After he missed time in August with a similar problem, there was speculation surrounding his health heading into the opener. When asked whether he was healthy and ready to go, he would give a promising two-word update: "Hell yeah!" As USA Today noted, Brown is considered the Eagles' number one receiver on the depth chart, but if any absence occurs, Philadelphia has another star wide receiver in Devonta Smith. Still, having both on the field will be important heading into Thursday night's game against the Cowboys. |

New York Jets RB Braelon Allen said he is motivated to build off the success he had last season. 'I have a lot left to prove, not even to the outside world but still people in this locker room and people in this building and to myself,' Allen said.
Footballguys view: Allen, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, played in all 17 games for the Jets in the 2024 season. He totaled 482 yards and three touchdowns, and the incoming staff has talked about using him in a David Montgomery-like role alongside Breece Hall. While the team is "extremely high" on Allen, ESPN's Dan Graziano reports that coaches realize what they have in Hall, who can be a primary ball carrier, a receiving back, or some combination of the two. With the Jets likely to be a run-heavy offense, both backs could be viable fantasy assets. |
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix averaged 12.9 air yards per attempt when targeting WR Courtland Sutton last season compared to 5.3 air yards when targeting any other player.
Footballguys view: Sutton was tied for 21st in the league in tight-window receptions -- where the nearest defender is less than a yard away at the catch -- and was the only Broncos player among the league's top 90 in the category. He also finished with 135 targets, 65 more than the Broncos' No. 2 player (running back Javonte Williams) and 80 more than the Broncos' next-highest wide receiver (Devaughn Vele). It's safe to say that Sutton earned the trust of Nix, something that's likely to serve him well this season. |
Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff had the second-largest QBR decline last season when he was pressured compared with when he had a clean pocket.
Footballguys view: Goff's decline when under pressure has been a persistent knock on him throughout his career. But he did show signs of improving last year. Take the Week 6 blowout win in Dallas. Per Next Gen Stats, Goff completed six of his seven pass attempts while under pressure in that game. The six completions netted 178 yards and two touchdowns. A week later, against the Vikings, Goff experienced a season-high 51.7 percent of his dropbacks under pressure. He completed 10 of his 11 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns on those plays. Hopefully, he can build on those performances. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling explains why he chose the Niners and a practice squad spot over going to the Pittsburgh Steelers to reunite with QB Aaron Rodgers. 'I had to weigh my options and see which one I wanted to do, which was going to be better for my career at this point, and I was excited about it,' Valdes-Scantling said. He added that the playbook familiarity is similar with 49ers offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak and Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, his previous stop.
Footballguys view: While the 49ers hope to have Jauan Jennings (calf) on the field Week 1, he's missed almost all of camp, and it seems like a reach to believe he'll be on the field against the Seahawks next weekend. That means Ricky Pearsall is your likely WR1 for now, and we should expect Pearsall, McCaffrey, and George Kittle to dominate targets in the tough matchup at Seattle. Even if Valdes-Scantling might get some opportunities, it will be difficult for fantasy managers to rely on him. |

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Warren agreed to a two-year extension Monday, Sept. 1. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: Warren joined the Steelers after going undrafted in 2022, and he's played 48 regular-season games for the team. Warren has 346 carries for 1,674 yards and six touchdowns to go with 127 catches for 894 yards. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Najee Harris was the lead back in Pittsburgh over Warren's first three seasons, but Warren is on top of the depth chart this year. If things go well, he's on track to stay there in 2026 and 2027 as well, although rookie Kaleb Johnson hopes to have some say in that at some point. |
Dallas Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (knee) is questionable to be ready for Week 1, and he could be out until Week 4, according to team reporters.

The Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agents WR Luke Grimm and RB Amar Johnson to the practice squad Sunday, Aug. 31. OG Karsen Barnhart was released from the practice squad.

Buffalo Bills DT DeWayne Carter (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles tendon in practice earlier this week, and he is out for the season, a source confirmed Sunday, Aug. 31.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles QB Tanner McKee (thumb) said Sunday, Aug. 31, that he fractured his thumb hitting a helmet while throwing. He did not practice Sunday, and he would not say much about his availability for the Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, Sept. 4. If he cannot go, QB Sam Howell would be the primary backup to starter QB Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia Eagles CB Adoree' Jackson was spotted warming up with the starting cornerbacks during practice Sunday, Aug. 31, while other players at the position were participating in special teams drills. Head coach Nick Sirianni has been vague about starting jobs, but this appears to be a hint that Jackson has earned a starting job.

Philadelphia Eagles S Andrew Mukuba (groin) was on the practice field Sunday, Aug. 31. He appears to be trending in the right direction, as far as his groin injury is concerned, ahead of the Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys OT Tyler Guyton (knee) said Sunday, Aug. 31, that it is his plan to play against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Nothing is official, but he said he believes he'll be ready to go Thursday, Sept. 4 when the season officially kicks off.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (knee) said Sunday, Aug. 31, that he did everything in practice without any limitations. He would not commit to playing in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, however, saying it would depend on how his knee feels, but he didn't rule out the opener, either.

Philadelphia Eagles OG Landon Dickerson (knee) is trending toward being able to play in the Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys despite surgery several weeks ago. He was on the practice field Sunday, Aug. 31, and appeared to be a full participant.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles WR Terrace Marshall Jr. was re-signed to the practice squad Sunday, Aug. 31. He was one of the team's final roster cuts in training camp.

Philadelphia Eagles OG Kenyon Green was signed to the 53-man roster off the practice squad Sunday, Aug. 31. He takes the spot of OL Willie Lampkin, who landed on the Reserve/Injured list.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys RB Miles Sanders is listed as the primary backup to RB Javonte Williams on the team's first unofficial depth chart ahead of the Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Footballguys view: Fifth round speedster Jaydon Blue is the #3 back and seventh round power back Phil Mafah is on injured reserve with a designation to return because of a shoulder injury. Williams is the Cowboys back to play if you need to dig deep for a starter in Week 1, but don't expect much vs. the Eagles. This pecking order is subject to change, and Dallas could seek to trade for another back once they see this trio in action. |
Miles Sanders player page
Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue (ankle) is listed as the No. 3 tailback on the team's first unofficial depth chart ahead of the regular season. He had been dealing with an ankle injury late in training camp, and it is uncertain if that played into the decision making.
Link to storyWashington Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. spent a month and a half in Atlanta this offseason working to become faster and lighter, while focusing on strength and mobility training. Rodriguez shed weight, dropping to 222 pounds. He also worked on a program to improve his pass catching and route running. 'I like his fight,' head coach Dan Quinn said. 'I like that he really worked hard to change his body, and those are things that, when people continue to show you that, then you pay attention.'
Footballguys view: Rodriguez isn't flashy, but he has the hard-nosed downhill running style to become the first option in short yardage and to salt away wins in a committee backfield. He's the cheapest in drafts, but Rodriguez has the valuable goal line touches and could easily end up being the best fantasy option in the Washington backfield. |
New York Giants WR Beaux Collins had a 'spectacular' showing in offseason workouts and training camp, according to Bucky Brooks of NFL.com, and Brooks believes Collins could develop into a No. 3 receiver
Footballguys view: 2023 third round pick Jalin Hyatt had a poor summer, so Collins could be active on game days and even get a few snaps against Washington in the season opener. He reeled in a deep ball from Russell Wilson for an 80-yard gain in one of the highlights of the preseason. |
Tennessee Titans TE Gunnar Helm's toughness and hands have earned praise from the coaching staff, and ESPN's Matt Miller believes Helm could become the team's starting tight end this season.
Footballguys view: Chig Okonkwo finished last year strong and was in with the starters a lot earlier in the preseason, but the trend here favors the rookie Helm. Okonkwo doesn't add much as a blocker and Helm has been dependable for fellow rookie QB Cam Ward. |
Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks because of his quadriceps injury, according to a source. He was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Aug. 30.
Footballguys view: Coker will be on our waiver wire watch list when he returns, but this injury is concerning long term because it is the same injury that sidelined him for three games last year. Coker's conditioning was an issue with Dave Canales during the offseason, but the head coach praised him for his progress, which makes this injury even more disappointing. Coker was poised to start in the slot after Adam Thielen was dealt to Minnesota, but that spot will go to Hunter Renfrow now. |
Atlanta Falcons LB Jalon Walker (ankle) is doing good in his recovery from injury, according to head coach Raheem Morris.
Footballguys view: The Falcons used the 15th overall pick to land Walker, who most expected to go in the top 10 of the draft. He missed about half of the summer practices with groin and hamstring injuries, but the team said they have a plan for him in Week 1 and he will be ready to play. Walker's snap count against Tampa (who will be missing left tackle Tristan Wirfs) will be determined by head coach Raheem Morris "waves" approach, which sounds a lot like a hot hand backfield. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers OT Charlie Heck will start at left tackle until OT Tristan Wirfs (knee) is able to return to the lineup. Wirfs is expected to return at some point in September.
Footballguys view: Expect the Bucs to keep a tight end in to help Heck at times. Cade Otton is probably going to miss at least Week 1 with a hamstring injury, so the team will call on Payne Durham, Ko Kieft, and Devin Culp to play larger roles than usual. The offense won't be top form without Wirfs and Godwin against the Falcons to open the season, but the matchup is still favorable for Baker Mayfield and company. |
Tennessee Titans OT JC Latham (undisclosed) did not participate in practice this week, but head coach Brian Callahan is optimistic about Latham's availability for Week 1.
Footballguys view: The only detail we got from Callahan about the nature of Latham's absence was "general soreness". Callahan doesn't seem worried about it, so we're not worried about that in particular. We are generally worried, however, about Cam Ward facing the Broncos defense to open his NFL career, and if Latham ends up not ready to play, we will only be more worried. Don't be surprised if it's a long afternoon for the Tennessee offense. |
Dallas Cowboys DT Perrion Winfrey (back) left practice Sunday, Aug. 31 due to a lower back injury.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers TEs Devin Culp, Payne Durham and Ko Kieft might be thrust into bigger roles in Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons if TE Cade Otton (leg) is unable to go. It's uncertain which player would be tabbed to start, although Kieft probably has the most experience in the system, while Durham is seen as the best blocker of the triumvirate.
Link to storyPayne Durham player page
Minnesota Vikings WR Jalen Nailor (hand) is trending upward for the Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears, as the team is optimistic he'll be ready to play after missing time due to a hand injury. Per sources, barring any setbacks, Nailor should be ready to play.
Footballguys view: Nailor's role won't be as large as it would have been before the team acquired Adam Thielen, but he'll still be the complementary receiver more likely to get deep targets that can turn into big plays. Nailor isn't on our redraft radar, but his presence could help JJ McCarthy. |
Kansas City Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown (ankle) was able to practice Sunday, Aug. 31, and head coach Andy Reid said the veteran receiver 'should be fine' for the regular-season opener. Brown missed time in training camp and the preseason due to an ankle injury.
Footballguys view: Brown is worth drafting in typical leagues to see if he gets off to a hot start with Rashee Rice suspended and fourth round rookie Jalen Royals likely out for at least Week 1 with a knee issue. The Chiefs also have veterans JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton, so it's possible that he is eased back into the lineup in the season opener in Brazil vs. the Chargers. |

Dallas Cowboys DE Sam Williams is reportedly on the team's list for contract extensions, according to beat writer Calvin Watkins.
