Denver 17 - Seattle 14

  • This was a truly offensive game, offensively speaking. Both running games and quarterbacks were mostly ineffective in a rockfight of a game
  • Bo Nix's unwillingness to throw downfield is painful to watch. Jaylen Waddle is a what-the-heck flex against Arizona, and Nix is only a desperation QB2/Superflex despite a good matchup on paper. Hopefully the easier second-half schedule will get this offense going.
  • J.K. Dobbins is still running in wet cement, and RJ Harvey is a one-dimensional receiving back. If you can find a place for Jonah Coleman, who is due back this week from injured reserve, add him. It might take patience to collect value here, but he's the best runner in this backfield.
  • Emanuel Wilson was a pedestrian plodder and he was on the field less than George Holani, who did score a rushing touchdown. This team needs Zach Charbonnet back yesterday.
  • Sam Darnold was shaky enough for people to wonder aloud if the team would turn to Drew Lock, who played mostly clean, if unspectacular football when Darnold was sidelined in Weeks 1 and 2. It will take at least 2-3 consecutive Darnold meltdowns for that to happen, but know that Darnold is only a desperation play in 2QB/Superflex until further notice.

Houston 34 - Jacksonville 31

  • C.J. Stroud's game got to a new level with the addition of college teammate Marvin Harrison Jr. He is a high-floor QB1 going forward and should be considered an every-week starter in fantasy because the Texans will rely on him over a subpar running game, and their defense is not keeping games low-scoring against good opponents.
  • Woody Marks got the start and most of the backfield work with David Montgomery out, but Jawhar Jordan broke away from the 25-yard score on a long-awaited chunk play from this running game. Marks is a flex play against the Giants, while Jordan has situated himself on our waiver wire watch list. He had a 100-yard game last season for a similarly struggling Texans run game.
  • Jaylin Noel caught all four targets for 107 yards and a score. He has caught all 12 targets thrown his way over the last three games for 233 yards and two scores. He's not a full-time player, but Noel has been so productive in his role that he should be one of the priority pickups of the week if he is on the waiver wire.
  • Harrison caught three balls on only 12 snaps, and he is worth an add if bench size allows, but he still did not look like the big-play threat he was supposed to be coming out of Ohio State
  • Nico Collins didn't put up big numbers, but he drew a big pass interference penalty and should also benefit from Harrison's presence opening up the passing game and Stroud playing at a higher level. Don't worry about him.
  • Trevor Lawrence is playing at a very high level in his own right as he threw for four scores against a defense that has given him trouble in the past. He goes into his bye as a high-ceiling QB1 who has already gotten some of his tougher matchups out of the way.
  • Bhayshul Tuten's speed and tackle-breaking ability were on display on one catch-and-run score, and he caught another short touchdown after Chris Rodriguez Jr. was in on second and goal. Tuten showed he can still post RB1 fantasy numbers even when he is bottled up as a runner, and Rodriguez was effective enough to be high on our list of injury upside #2 backs to roster once we get through the bye week gauntlet.
  • Parker Washington only posted a 4-64 line, but he led the team with 11 targets. There will continue to be ups and downs, but the ups more than make it worth the ride.
  • Jakobi Meyers was second with ten targets, and he caught five of them for 83 yards. He, too, is up and down for fantasy, but without Washington's peaks and with more frequent valleys. He's worth carrying through the bye in PPR leagues.
  • Travis Hunter was on the field for nine offensive snaps, and he caught four balls for 59 yards and a score. If anyone can be fantasy relevant on so few snaps, Hunter can in this offense. He's just as compelling of a carry through the bye as Meyers, if not more if you like to put your faith in pure talent.
  • Brian Thomas Jr. was on the bench for the whole second half. He could get dealt during the bye (reunion with Jayden Daniels in Washington?). Sixth-round rookie Josh Cameron will have a larger role after the bye and could be a deep league add. This development also creates another path to value for Hunter.

New England 26 - NY Jets 19

  • Drake Maye played well for the third straight week even though he lost Romeo Doubs early in the game to a shoulder injury suffered on a diving 42-yard touchdown, and A.J. Brown was ineffective upon his return, catching only 3 of 10 targets and losing control of an onside kick late in the game.
  • DeMario Douglas and Hunter Henry are the trusted targets for Maye right now. Douglas led the team in catches and receiving yards and scored to top off a 7-86-1 line, and Henry posted a 4-48-1 line. Both players are good streaming options off of the waiver wire in what could be a high-scoring Thursday night game against the Bears.
  • Corey Kiner got eight straight carries to close out this game, drawing praise from head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel used the words "hot hand" to describe the backfield and defended his use of Kiner, so we could have a three-headed committee here. TreVeyon Henderson has never seemed to be one of Vrabel's favorites. He's not an essential hold in short bench leagues, while Kiner is on our waiver wire watch list and might even be a pickup in deep leagues.
  • Geno Smith had his first interception of the season, but played better than the outcome indicated. The Jets were stopped on fourth down twice in Patriots territory and were never able to make up for the lost points. Smith is a low-end bye QB1/QB2/Superflex against the Dolphins.
  • Omar Cooper Jr. made a huge impact right away with a long touchdown against a busted coverage to highlight a 6-103-1 day. He's one of many possible waiver adds this week at wide receiver. The glass half full take is that he has made a huge impact immediately, while the glass half empty take is that Adonai Mitchell will be back soon and Garrett Wilson had Christian Gonzalez in his hip pocket in Week 6.

Carolina 25 - Philadelphia 14

  • Bryce Young and the Panthers offense passed their toughest test yet on the road against the Eagles. Young has established himself as a high-ceiling QB1 worth starting every week, with the underrated Bucs defense on tap in Week 7.
  • Chuba Hubbard got the dirty work yards to help finish off the Eagles. He is a solid fantasy RB1 and might end up being the biggest value pick at any position this season.
  • Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan have the look of a dynamic duo that will trade off big games week-to-week. Coker is an every-week WR2, and his value is very close to McMillan's.
  • Tommy Tremble caught two scores, so we can cool down on the Darren Waller red zone specialist angle after his hot start to the season. Waller can be dropped, but Tremble isn't a compelling pickup as an athletic, good-enough, pass-catching, blocking tight end more in the AJ Barner mold than Tucker Kraft/Brenton Strange.
  • Tanner McKee wasn't terrible, but his offensive line issues had him overwhelmed at times. He's just a desperation play in 2QB/Superflex leagues, but he could support the value of DeVonta Smith, who rallied to play as a game-time decision and got a little banged up in this one, and Dallas Goedert, especially in PPR leagues because of McKee's penchant for short-range passing.
  • Dameon Pierce wasn't particularly effective, but he was on the field for 95% of the offensive snaps as Carson Steele only got one touch before getting hurt. Pierce is a what-the-heck flex against the Cowboys. There have been trade rumors about Saquon Barkley since Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve, so Pierce's window of opportunity might be longer than expected with Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley both on injured reserve right now.

Pittsburgh 26 - Tampa Bay 19

  • The Steelers had a highly concentrated target tree in their pass-first offense with three wide receivers hurt and Pat Freiermuth a late add to the injury report with a calf injury. DK Metcalf and Germie Bernard both caught 11 balls, and Bernard added a touchdown. Both are strong plays in a U.S. Sunday morning start time game in Paris against the Saints.
  • Even though Jaylen Warren was their offensive MVP while Rico Dowdle was out, the Steelers seemed intent on splitting the backfield somewhat evenly in this game. Warren did power the team in overtime, and the team may have come to their senses, but it was disappointing to see Warren go back to being part of a split backfield. Keep him in as an RB2/Flex and hope for Mike McCarthy to see the light.
  • Jalon Daniels fought hard and led a game-tying drive after the Bucs blew a 16-3 lead. He can support WR3/Flex value for Emeka Egbuka, who scored for the second straight week.
  • Bucky Irving was contained by the Steelers' stout run defense. He's still a solid RB2 play against the Panthers in Week 7.
  • The team is preparing for Daniels to start against Carolina, but Baker Mayfield is going to return to practice and could start if he shows the team what they need to see in practice.
