Giants | Darius Slayton meshing with QB Sat Jun 21, 10:00 AM
New York Giants WR Darius Slayton has developed a 'quality connection' with QB Russell Wilson, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Slayton has 'what the heck' flex appeal for Fantasy GMs. Wilson should be the starter Week 1 for the Giants, and he may be starting the entire season if 2025 first-round pick Jaxson Dart isn't yet ready to take over. Let's see what this connection looks like in the preseason, but it sounds like Slayton could be a late-round flier in deeper drafts. |

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton was one of the standout performers during offseason workouts, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.
Footballguys view: As Newsweek noted, Slayton has been consistent for the Giants since being drafted in the fifth round in 2019. That said, shifting starting quarterbacks last season resulted in his production taking a hit. Across 16 appearances, he totaled 573 yards (his lowest since 2021) and two touchdowns (ties career-low). This year, Slayton seems excited to get to work with former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson. With a more reliable talent like Wilson under center, it could result in a rebound as Slayton, currently carrying a WR78 average draft position, works alongside talented youngster Malik Nabers. |

New York Giants impending free-agent WR Darius Slayton could receive interest from the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers if he hits the free-agent market, in the opinion of New York Daily News' Pat Leonard.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR George Pickens is not expected to be available via trade, according to sources, and the organization views any additions at the position as complementary to him. It is believed the Steelers will not add any wide receiver salaries without settling the quarterback position first, but addressing the position will be a top priority. Pittsburgh could pursue Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton via trade if contract talks with Denver break down, sources said. Last year, the Steelers showed interest in Jacksonville Jaguars WR Christian Kirk and WR Darius Slayton (Giants) at the trade deadline, and both could be in play again provided Kirk is released, in the opinion of PennLive's Nick Farabaugh.

New York Giants impending free-agent WR Darius Slayton is expected to have no shortage of suitors in free agency, according to comments he made recently on the Talkin' Ball Podcast with Pat Leonard.'When you look at that, my ability to stretch the field becomes more valuable because that leads to shorter drives, one-play touchdowns. You need chunk plays to score in this league. We know we have a lot of interest out there. And when free agency opens up, we'll have a lot of different conversations to have with a lot of different people,' Slayton told Leonard.

New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is in the concussion protocol.
Footballguys view: It's his second concussion of the season, with the first coming in the opener. Slayton left late in the fourth quarter of the Giants' 27-22 loss to the Commanders. He seemed to suffer the injury when he hit the ground hard after being interfered with by a Commanders' defensive back. The Giants face a shortened timeline to get Slayton back before Week 10. The Giants will travel to Germany to face the Carolina Panthers. It's a long way from New York to Munich, and it's unknown if Slayton will be healthy enough for the trans-Atlantic flight. We'll follow up as needed. |

Giants receiver Darius Slayton caught eight of 11 targets for 122 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-20 win over the Seahawks.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Slayton stepped up in the absence of Malik Nabers (concussion), matching the 122 yards Slayton posted in the first four games of the season. Most of his production came during a third-quarter drive on which Slayton made a 41-yard catch down the right sideline, then scored a 30-yard touchdown on the left side three plays later. Slayton will retain a starting role on the outside for Week 6 against the Bengals regardless of Nabers' status, but Slayton's target share would likely dip if Nabers gains clearance to return. |

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton (thumb) had three catches for 56 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Slayton was targeted five times.
Footballguys view: Slayton could have had a much bigger game if Daniel Jones was more accurate on his deep passes. He is still only rosterable in very deep leagues, but if Jones can get his legs under him on deep passes, or if Drew Lock eventually gets a shot, Slayton could come alive. |

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton (concussion) is progressing through the protocol and could be available to play in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders, according to sources Thursday, Sept. 12.
Footballguys view: Let's see what Slayton can do on the field before we get too excited about his fantasy prospects. The Giants still have Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback, and the passing game is not that enticing (outside of Malik Nabers) from a fantasy perspective. |

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton (concussion) is in the concussion protocol, head coach Brian Daboll said Monday, Sept. 9.
Footballguys view: Slayton, who caught three of four targets for 27 yards, appears to be in line for a significant role this season after playing 50 of the team's 70 offensive snaps during Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Vikings. Now, Slayton will have to go through the protocol, which requires a gradual increase in activity with testing between each step. If Slayton can't go against the Commanders this weekend, Jalin Hyatt would move up in the rotation alongside Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson. |
