Bears | Multiple players not cleared for practice    Sun Jul 26, 04:37 PM

Chicago Bears LB Keyshaun Elliott (undisclosed), CB Kyler Gordon (undisclosed), LB Noah Sewell (undisclosed), OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) and DE Shemar Turner (undisclosed) were placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 25. The team also placed LB T.J. Edwards (undisclosed) on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

Footballguys view: The most important name here is Trapilo, who emerged as the team's starting left tackle as a rookie second round pick last year. The team still has Braxton Jones, who he supplanted, and they signed former Browns first round pick Jedrick Wills as a reclamation project for depth. Trapilo tore a patellar tendon, so he's projected to miss most of the season, and there's no guarantee that he'll play at all.

Rams | LA not in a hurry for Puka Nacua extension    Wed Jul 1, 01:00 AM

Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua is eligible for a contract extension, but after trading for CB Trent McDuffie and DE Myles Garrett, the team doesn't seem to be in a hurry for any contract extensions, in the opinion of ESPN's Sarah Barshop on Tuesday, June 30.

Footballguys view: The Rams have a strong group of extension-eligible candidates from their 2023 draft class, and Nacua is at the top of that list. It remains to be seen whether the Rams get ahead of those contract extensions or focus instead on the 2026 season. The latter appears to be the way they are leaning. A deal could certainly get done -- one that makes Nacua the top-paid player at his position -- but Nacua's situation is further complicated by recent off-field issues. Of course, none of this changes Nacua's status as a consensus top-five fantasy pick.

Patriots | A 'hold-in' possible for Christian Gonzalez?    Tue Jun 30, 04:19 PM

Footballguys view: When Gonzalez met with reporters after the first day of mandatory minicamp on June 9, he was asked whether he would play this season without a new contract. The initial part of his answer was: "We got a long time to the season." The sides are expected to continue discussing an extension, with the next checkpoint coming July 24, when most veterans are scheduled to report for training camp. Gonzalez would face fines for not reporting, which would all but ensure a hold-in.
