Eagles | Philly adds Jaquiski Tartt Fri Jun 17, 05:14 PM
Free-agent S Jaquiski Tartt (49ers) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles Friday, June 17. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Philadelphia Eagles may add to their running backs room before the start of the season, Adam Caplan of Inside The Birds speculates. 'They need a guy with size. My sense is that they probably would bring someone in at some point in August if not by the start of camp. The problem with Jordan Howard is he has had neck issues, so you wonder about him. He's always on call. If they need to sign him, they'll sign him.'
Footballguys view: The Eagles have Miles Sanders as their top back with guys like Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott backing him up. Perhaps they'll go for a big back after cutdowns begin in August during training camp and the preseason. Adding a big back may not cut into the fantasy potential of Sanders or any other back who gets on the field for the Eagles. |

Philadelphia Eagles OG Isaac Seumalo (foot) said he is ahead of schedule in his recovery from the Lisfranc injury that ended his 2021 season.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is impressing head coach Nick Sirianni so far this offseason. 'I'm noticing a big difference,' Sirianni said. 'What I see is a crisper ball. The accuracy I've been very pleased with. You can just see him taking strides every single day with his accuracy because of the fundamentals he has with his feet and his upper body.'
Footballguys view: Hurts looked serviceable running an offense that featured his running ability and the ground game. In order for the Eagles to push for a playoff run, Hurts needs to be better as a passer. Adding a superstar WR like A.J. Brown will help, and so will his improved mechanics. |

Philadelphia Eagles S Marcus Epps is the favorite to land a starting role at safety, The Athletic's Bo Wulf writes.

Philadelphia Eagles OG Brandon Brooks was placed on the Reserve/Retired list Friday, June 3.
Link to storyJeff McLane, from the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles OC Shane Steichen will continue calling plays in 2022. Head coach Nick Sirianni said that the midseason change last year played a vital role in the offensive turnaround.
Footballguys view: Steichen took over playcalling duties last year around the midpoint of the season, and he implemented a run-heavy offense to help QB Jalen Hurts (who was struggling when the Eagles were trying to be pass-happy). With the addition of WR A.J. Brown, it will be on Hurts to be better when it comes to his passing skill. However, the Eagles should still run the ball early and often - just expect a slight uptick in the passing game if Hurts shows strides in that department. |

The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the teams with interest in Indianapolis Colts QB Nick Foles before he signed his two-year contract, per source.
Footballguys view: The Eagles have Garnder Minshew and Carson Strong as the primary backups behind Jalen Hurts. They have gone all in around Hurts this offseason, so having a seasoned veteran like Foles would've been nice insurance. Apparently, their interest only went so far financially and Foles signs with Indianapolis. |

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles CB James Bradberry's one-year, $10 million contract will include $7.25 million in guaranteed money, and another $2.5 million in incentives, according to a source.
Link to storyJames Bradberry player page
Free-agent CB James Bradberry (Giants) agreed to a one-year, $10 million deal Wednesday, May 18, with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Footballguys view: Bradberry gives the Eagles a big corner to match up against size at wide receiver while Darius Slay ties up #1 receivers and Avonte Maddox does his typical excellent work in the slot. The Eagles have improved on both sides of the ball and should push the Cowboys for the division title. |

The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring former Denver Broncos vice president of player personnel Matt Russell, The Athletic's Bo Wulf reported on Tuesday, May 10. Russell's exact position is not yet known but he's expected to take on a senior personnel role, according to a source.

Updating a previous report, undrafted free agents LB Ali Fayad (Western Michigan), OL William Dunkle (San Diego State) and OL Josh Sills (Oklahoma State) signed undisclosed contracts with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced on Friday, May 6.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles sixth-round draft choices LB Kyron Johnson and TE Grant Calcaterra signed four-year contracts with the Eagles Thursday, May 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Calcaterra was once considered one of the best receiving tight ends in college football. He retired due to concussion issues, but returned to play last year for SMU after beginning his college career at Oklahoma. The Eagles doctors gave the team the thumbs up to draft Calcaterra in the sixth round, which is enough for us to monitor his development in dynasty leagues even though Dallas Goedert will be holding down that position for Philadelphia for the foreseeable future. |
Philadelphia Eagles first-round draft choice DT Jordan Davis signed a four-year contract with the Eagles Thursday, May 5, worth $17 million, according to a source. The deal includes a $9.55 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: Davis's contract shows just how cheap first round picks are locked in. If he was on the open market, he would get at least 8-10 million a year on speculative value alone. He'll be holding down opposing running games on early downs with a chance to develop into a pocket collapsing presence when teams choose to pass. |
Zach Berman, from The Athletic, speculates that Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor could be a candidate to be traded. With the trade for superstar receiver A.J. Brown, Reagor - a former first-round pick - has been pushed further down the depth chart.
Footballguys view: A fresh start could do good for both sides. Reagor has been a bust so far in two seasons with the Eagles. They could move on without him, and he could get a new chance with a different team. Eagles GM Howie Roseman is adamant that Reagor is staying with the team but that's likely posturing. Sure, Reagor could stay as depth for the team but he won't be in line for many snaps. A trade later in the year could materialize. |

Brandon Lee Gowton, from Bleeding Green, reports Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is feeling good after his ankle surgery. "I'm good now. That's all that matters." Hurts said.
Footballguys view: After the Eagles lost in the playoffs, Hurts went under the knife to repair his ankle problem. He played with it down the stretch and did not look the same. Now healthy, and with much better weapons around him, it's time for Hurts to lead the team further into the postseason. He'll be one of the best quarterbacks for Fantasy GMs in 2022. |

Philadelphia Eagles OL Nate Herbig was released Monday, May 2.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles WR Jalen Reagor is expected to remain with the team following the addition of WR A.J. Brown, according to general manager Howie Roseman.
Footballguys view: Of course Roseman is going to say that now, but if they got the right offer they'd move on from the 2020 first-round pick. There's a chance that Reagor does not make the 53-man roster after training camp. If he remains with the team, there is no doubt that Reagor is in a make-or-break year. |

Undrafted free agents WR Britain Covey (Utah), S Reed Blankenship (Middle Tennessee State) and OL Jarrid Williams (Miami, Fla.) are signing undisclosed contracts with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Link to storyThe Philadelphia Eagles signed undrafted free-agent QB EJ Perry (Brown) Saturday, April 30.
Footballguys view: Perry is an interesting quarterback to monitor but only in crazy deep dynasty formats. He's a helluva athlete who has the mobility to make defenders look silly. Perry loves to compete and will attack a defense with his legs and arm. However, he does have a weaker-than-ideal arm and is known to carelessly throw into coverage. |
Undrafted free agents RB Kenny Brooks (Oklahoma), CB Josh Blackwell (Duke), CB Josh Jobe (Alabama) and DT Noah Elliss (Idaho) signed undisclosed contracts with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, April 30.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent QB Carson Strong (Nevada) agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, April 30.
Footballguys view: It's interesting that Strong fell undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft. He's a tall pocket passer but is more athletic than some give him credit for. Strong has a strong arm, but he does have a tendency to mechanically break down under pressure. He's very interesting as a developmental prospect, and of course we'll be monitoring him in dynasty formats. |
Undrafted free-agent CB Mario Goodrich (Clemson) agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, April 30, according to his agents.
Link to storyGeorgia LB Nakobe Dean was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 83rd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had been whispering to the Eagles front office to try to acquire WR A.J. Brown before a deal was made. Hurts and Brown have a tight relationship.
Footballguys view: Eagles GM Howie Roseman is addicted to trading, so he had to be over the moon when Hurts came to him requesting Brown. The Eagles made it happen and now have a nice trio of weapons around Hurts in Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. One of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL, the Eagles could now have more balance with such a strong group of pass-catchers. |
Jalen Hurts player page
Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown will receive a four-year, $100 million extension with $57 million guaranteed, according to a source.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. That was part of the deal when the Eagles went after Brown - they knew a big payday was soon to follow. Reports indicate QB Jalen Hurts asked Eagles GM Howie Roseman to go after Brown and the deal got done. Now, Hurts has no excuses to post better passing numbers in 2022. |
A.J. Brown player page
The Tennessee Titans traded WR A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the 18th overall pick and 101st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Eagles get the upgrade at wide receiver they wanted with a big trade in the draft. Brown is a superstar and gives QB Jalen Hurts a run-after-the-catch threat he can hit on all three levels of the field. With Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert we should see more balance from the formerly run-heavy Eagles offense. |

Link to storyOregon DE Kayvon Thibodeaux is believed to be a target for the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, according to NFL Network's James Palmer.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles restricted free-agent OG Nate Herbig signed his one-year tender offer Monday, April 25, and will make $2.433 million in 2022, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Link to storyJimmy Kempski, Philadelphia Eagles writer for the The Philly Voice, is reporting that J.J. Arcega-Whiteside will be moving from wide receiver to tight end in 2022.
Footballguys view: After being drafted with high expectations as the 57th overall pick in 2019, Arcega-Whiteside has been a massive disappointment in the NFL. The Eagles selected wide receivers in the first round the next two seasons, making Arcega-Whiteside an afterthought in their offense. Despite being healthy all year, the former second-rounder was relegated primarily to special teams duties, seeing just five targets over the entire season. This move to tight end is probably a last-ditch effort to save his NFL career, but 2022 is likely to be the last year in the league for Arcega-Whiteside. |

Free-agent WR Andre Roberts (Chargers) appears to have generated interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Adam Caplan and Geoff Mosher of Inside the Birds podcast. 'He's still got it, the Chargers I am told wanted him back but they didn't want to guarantee any money or very little so they signed DeAndre Carter, another former Eagles you might remember. So yeah, our understanding is they have interest in Andre Roberts but he is gonna want to get some money. The guy's been to the Pro Bowl before. He's gonna want some money, he's a veteran, he's well into his 30s. Still is good, so we'll see where it goes,' said Caplan.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Kenneth Gainwell envisions himself having a big year in 2022. 'I'm trying to go into Year 2 and go crazy,' Gainwell said. 'Year 1 was good for me. But I feel like coach [Nick] Sirianni, he knows what he got out of me. I'm coming back and I'm going to go off.'
Footballguys view: A fifth-round pick out of Memphis in the 2021 NFL draft, Gainwell played 298 snaps on offense - mainly as a reserve for the Eagles. He did get an opportunity to be the lead back in Week 18 due to injuries and looked good. However, Gainwell will be buried on the depth chart again in 2022. He'll have to patiently wait for his opportunity and be ready to produce when called upon. |

Ohio State WR Chris Olave is meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, April 14.
Footballguys view: Olave, a three-time All Big Ten wide receiver, might be the best wide receiver in this draft class. He's not the biggest or the fastest, but Olave has plenty of savvy to his game. Olave can run routes with the best of them, and he knows how to find soft spots in a zone plus sideline awareness. We should see him selected in the top 20 picks of the 2022 NFL draft. |
Alabama WR Jameson Williams met with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, April 12.
Footballguys view: Williams is arguably the best receiver in this draft - even coming off an ACL injury from the National Championship Game. He was buried on the depth chart with Ohio State, but a transfer to Alabama paid off with a huge season in 2021 - his only season with the Crimson Tide. We should see Williams as a top-20 pick in the 2022 NFL draft. |
Cincinnati CB Sauce Gardner and Georgia WR George Pickens met with the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, April 11.
