Broncos | Caleb Lohner to have cleanup procedure Sun Jun 7, 04:41 PM
Denver Broncos TE Caleb Lohner (lower body) is expected to miss the next two weeks of minicamp and organized team activities (OTAs) due to a routine lower-body cleanup procedure this offseason. He is expected to be ready in full for the start of training camp.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles QBs Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee are in a heated battle to serve as the primary backup to starter QB Jalen Hurts. The Eagles could try and trade McKee to a team in need of a quarterback this summer.
Footballguys view: The #3 quarterback will presumably be fifth round pick Cole Payton. He has some Taysom Hill usage potential, but is also a long term project who could be an option down the line if Jalen Hurts doesn't click with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Payton is an elite athlete and would generate a lot of fantasy value with his legs if he ever gets a shot. He also went to North Dakota State, like Eagles Super Bowl Champion Carson Wentz.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert will remain a big part of the offense, and his usage isn't expected to be impacted much despite the departure of WR A.J. Brown (Patriots).
Footballguys view: The Eagles could use more two tight end sets if second round Eli Stowers - a converted quarterback who is almost as impressive athletically as Jets first round pick Kenyon Sadiq, but a more functional receiver with length at the catch point. In any scenario, Goedert will outproduce his ADP, the only question is how much.

Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton said he is not worried about sharing targets with WR Jaylen Waddle. 'The targets will come,' Sutton said. 'I always say, the ball is going to find you no matter what, you just need to go out there and do your job.'
Footballguys view: Sutton will be the top red zone target in any scenario, and it is clear that Bo Nix has the best chemistry with Sutton of any of the returning Broncos receivers. Sutton is right that targets will come, especially in key game situations, because he has been so good at doing his job with Denver.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jalen Royals has performed well in his additional reps with the first-team offense during OTAs, according to head coach Andy Reid. 'He looks strong out here and is running well. It's great for him and the quarterbacks to see what he is all about on repeated reps,' Reid said.
Footballguys view: The 2025 fourth round pick was having a good first training camp but knee issues slowed him down at the beginning of the season. He has a similar skillset to Rashee Rice and the team could see him as a future replacement with Rice's unreliable off-field profile. Royals shouldn't be on the waiver wire in dynasty leagues and could become a consideration in redraft leagues if Rice has any problems getting back in action after spending time in jail following knee surgery in May.
Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley could be in line for more working catching the ball out of the backfield, thanks to the departure of WR A.J. Brown (Patriots). He was targeted just 50 times in 2025, and 43 times in 2024. In his final two seasons with the New York Giants, he had 136 total targets. Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion could look to use Barkley more in pass-catching situations to offset the loss of Brown.

Denver Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle is fitting in with his new team, and drawing praise from the coaching staff and teammates for his quick starting and stopping, and for his route running. 'I think his ability to make every route look the same is pretty important,' S Talanoa Hufanga said. 'As a defender, when you can make a 10-yard stop look like a go, a 10-yard dig (route) look like a go, a 10-yard out-route -- it's just, everything looks the same. And it puts pressure on your backpedal, as a DB.'
Footballguys view: Waddle could be a focal point of the Broncos pass offense right away if he and Bo Nix are on the same page and the team is creative with their usage of their big offseason acquisition to push for a Super Bowl while Nix is on a rookie contract. Waddle could get off on the right foot in the season opener against Kansas City, which will likely be #6 pick Mansoor Delane's first NFL start.

Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs will see a majority of the carries out of the backfield following the trade of RB David Montgomery to the Houston Texans during the offseason. 'He's going to be our bell cow now,' head coach Dan Campbell said. 'We're going to hang our hat on him quite a bit. We're going to do a lot of things we feel like he does well. I've mentioned this before, he can run everything that we've got. He can run every scheme that anybody's ever run.'
Footballguys view: Gibbs is neck and neck with Bijan Robinson for #1 pick in fantasy drafts. Robinson also saw his running mate and sometimes touchdown vulture Tyler Allgeier leave in the offseason, but Gibbs is in the better offense and is trending towards being the most common 1.1 pick this year.
Jahmyr Gibbs player page
New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte will be in attendance for the first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 9, despite recent trade rumors. He had not been present for the Patriots' voluntary offseason program last month.
Footballguys view: Boutte mostly played at the same outside X receiver spot that AJ Brown occupies. Hopefully the team moves Boutte around the formation (and Brown for that matter) to find a way to get the just turned 24 year old on the field in the last year of his rookie contract. Boutte could also be a midseason trade candidate if the Patriots just can't find snaps for him and want to recoup something before he leaves in free agency.

Arizona Cardinals PK Joshua Karty was released.
Link to storyKansas City Chiefs TE Jake Briningstool (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Wednesday, June 3.
Link to storyKansas City Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy has performed well during offseason workouts and seems to be more comfortable entering his third season, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Footballguys view: Worthy can fly down the field with blazing speed, but it takes more than that to make plays at the wide receiver position in the pros. Receivers usually take three years to get going in the NFL, so Worthy is certainly a player who could post better-than-expected numbers in 2026. Wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea said he has been impressed with how Worthy has been catching the ball during workouts.
Atlanta Falcons RB Bijan Robinson has been talking with the Falcons about a contract extension, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Both Robinson and Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs are set to get new contracts...and they'll both be resetting the market. Speculation abounds that Gibbs could get rewarded with a deal that pays him around $20 million annually. There is no doubt that Robinson will be in that same ballpark once his new deal is finalized.

Indianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren said he has been working on being more explosive out of routes this offseason. 'Getting in the break is one thing, but being able to accelerate out of it and still you create the space, but being able to hold that space if you are running across the field ... I think it's big,' Warren said.
Footballguys view: Warren is a dangerous player with the ball in his hands. His development is one to be watched and admired as he could be the next great tight end in this league. Fantasy GMs are expecting Warren to produce as a top-5 tight end in 2026.
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. has been making plays during the voluntary workouts and said he is feeling healthy after dealing with injuries in 2025.
Footballguys view: This matches earlier reports about Thomas. Jaguars HC Liam Coen wants to go deep a bit more, and that's where Thomas comes in. We'll be monitoring his chemistry with QB Trevor Lawrence throughout training camp and the preseason.
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas (undisclosed) suffered an injury during the mandatory minicamp, but head coach Jeff Hafley said Douglas will hopefully return to the field next week.
Footballguys view: Douglas, a third-round pick out of Texas Tech, is a player we are intrigued by in dynasty formats. He's a big receiver (6-feet, 4-inches tall) who can blaze down the field with 4.39 speed. Douglas has inconsistent hands and needs to learn how to use his frame better to box out smaller defenders, but the physical tools are there for him to be a weapon in this league. He will need time to hone his skills, but we see some Marquez Valdes-Scantling in his game when fully developed.
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix (ankle) is expected to have an increased role during the team's three-day mandatory minicamp, which begins June 16, according to head coach Sean Payton. Nix did not participate in the team's first full week of organized team activities but had thrown in pre-practice sessions.
Footballguys view: There have been some misconceptions, a dash of mystery, and sometimes straight-up misinformation about Nix's ankle this offseason. The current plan, according to Payton, is to have Nix do more in mandatory minicamp in 10 days or so. Does that mean full participation? While that seems unlikely, we're not too worried about the young franchise quarterback. Once August gets here and the Broncos are in training camp, we expect Nix to be near full strength and fully participating.
Las Vegas Raiders WR Malik Benson has 'flashed his potential' during OTAs, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Benson can absolutely fly, as evidenced by five touchdowns last year for Oregon coming from 40-plus yards out, and he posted a 4.37 40-yard dash at the combine. Even though he's not a big receiver (listed at 189 pounds), Benson knows how to haul in contested catches, and he only had one drop last year for the Ducks. The sixth-round pick can immediately contribute on special teams as a return man while he learns the nuances of the pro game on offense.
Las Vegas Raiders WR Tre Tucker has been a leader for the offense during OTAs, according to head coach Klint Kubiak. 'He's got to be a playmaker for us, and he has been,' Kubiak said. 'And now let's go see what else we can get out of him.'
Footballguys view: Tucker was primarily a boundary receiver for the Raiders in his pro career. Kubiak will have all the Raiders receivers moving around the formation, meaning Tucker will get some inside looks as well. With TE Brock Bowers gathering the attention of the defense on every snap, Tucker should be able to take advantage of coverage. For Fantasy GMs, Tucker has flex appeal as the no.1 wide receiver for the Raiders.

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has impressed head coach Kevin Stefanski. 'The physical skill set is obvious when Kyle is on the field and with how big he is and how he moves, but I've been impressed with how he is taking to what we're asking him to do and then a couple new things for him,' Stefanski said.
Footballguys view: Pitts signed his franchise tag earlier this year, and the Falcons may want to see how he fits in the new offense before committing to a long-term deal. Pitts said he will run "new routes" in Stefanski's offensive scheme this season. Stefanski is a coach who could get the best from Pitts, so he's clearly a TE1 for Fantasy GMs. However, his range of outcomes is anywhere from TE1 to TE12 in 2026.

Seattle Seahawks RB George Holani and Jadarian Price share snaps with the first-team offense during the voluntary workout Wednesday, June 3.
Footballguys view: With Zach Charbonnet (knee) recovering, and Kenneth Walker in Kansas City, the Seahawks are working out their RBBC. This is a competition that should last through training camp and the preseason. Price, the first-round pick out of Notre Dame, is an exciting prospect with speed and field-flipping ability. However, recent reports suggested he may not be the bell cow right away. Instead, the team may use an RBBC with Holani until Price is ready for a larger workload. Price does have flex appeal as the lead back in this committee, with the upside to be more if/when he takes a larger role.
Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs said he is only focusing on his play and will let his agent handle the contract extensions.
Footballguys view: Gibbs is the bell cow for the Lions, and he's set to get paid as one of the best running backs in the league. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Gibbs could sign an extension averaging $20 million annually (or more) this summer. He's not worried about it, and like Thanos, a deal is inevitable. Stay tuned.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield is not likely to stage a holdout from mandatory minicamp, which begins on June 16, even though the two sides are not believed to be close to finalizing a contract extension. According to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler, discussions are in the early stages but Mayfield will not negotiate a long-term deal once training camp has started.
Footballguys view: The two sides are not close on a contract agreement, and Mayfield seems to have a self-imposed deadline for negotiations to be done before training camp. With the deadline closer to August, there's no need for Mayfield to hold out during mandatory minicamp. While he may not be quite what he used to be, Mayfield is still an above-average starter, and he should get compensated as such.

Seattle Seahawks TE Elijah Arroyo (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Wednesday, June 3.
Link to storyPhiladelphia Eagles WR Brandon Hayes was waived Friday, June 5.
Link to storyHouston Texans TE Marlin Klein missed OTA practices this week due to a hamstring injury. It is not considered to make him miss an extended time.
Footballguys view: A second-round pick out of Michigan, Klein is likely third on the depth chart behind Dalton Schultz and Foster Moreau. Klein has speed for the position and soft hands, but it will take time for him to get learn the pro game. We do appreciate his skill set in dynasty formats.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray is making it 'make it hard to imagine' that he will lose the team's quarterback battle against QB J.J. McCarthy ahead of the 2026 season, according to Sports Illustrated's Will Ragatz.
Footballguys view: This is a competition that will go into training camp and the preseason. If Murray keeps impressing, the battle may not last long into August. McCarthy, a first-round pick in 2024, has been below average seemingly every time he's been on the field for the Vikings. It's a make-or-break season for McCarthy, and Murray might win the starting job for the Vikings in 2026.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield said he and the team aren't close in contract negotiations, and talks will end once the season begins.
Footballguys view: In the final year of his deal, Mayfield is looking for a new long-term contract. Mayfield is entering this season without WR Mike Evans, and he's coming off a season where he had 3,693 yards passing with 26 passing touchdowns. He may never get back to the 40-plus touchdown guy he was a couple of years ago, but Mayfield is a solid starter who should be able to get appropriate compensation.

Miami Dolphins QB Malik Willis' running ability will be incorporated into the offense, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: Willis is a runner, and it only makes sense for that to be a part of his game. Dolphins OC Bobby Slowik has a system that should work well with play-action passing and a rushing quarterback. We like Willis as a QB2 with upside, and his rushing ability means he could push for more fantasy points than some think.
Seattle Seahawks TE AJ Barner (undisclosed) said he had multiple surgeries over the offseason but will be 'ready to go' when training camp begins.
Footballguys view: Barner had calf, elbow, and hip injuries last year. He's feeling better now, and Barner should once again be a security-blanket target for Sam Darnold. We like him as a low-end TE2 from a fantasy perspective.
Seattle Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp said he 'never for a second' considered retirement this offseason.
Footballguys view: Kupp was the Seahawks no.2 receiver last year, and he finished with 47 catches for 593 yards and two touchdowns. This year, Seattle should move Rashid Shaheed into the no.2 role and Kupp gets demoted to more of a no.3 role. That makes Kupp more of a 'what the heck' flex in certain matchups for Fantasy GMs.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. and QB Trevor Lawrence have been putting in extra reps this offseason to improve their chemistry. 'We've put a lot of work in throughout all spring really of just trying to get the timing down, the chemistry, all those things, get on the same page, and it's starting to pay off,' Lawrence said.
Footballguys view: We love hearing this, and we'd love to see this chemistry continue into training camp and the regular season. Reports from Jaguars camp say they're going deep early and often with Thomas being on the receiving end of a lot of those passes. Per Jaguars HC Liam Coen, they did want to improve the deep passing and chemistry between Thomas and Trevor Lawrence.
Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (knee) has been more involved in the voluntary workouts as the offseason has gone on and is expected to do more when training camp begins.
Footballguys view: Good news for the Texans here, so long as Dell can stay healthy. Dell had been working off to the side with trainers as he comes back from another injury. Now, he's working in team drills with the idea he can do more later in the summer. Dell is a playmaker, but his injury history makes him a player to only monitor on the waiver wire from a fantasy perspective.

Miami Dolphins fifth-round draft choice TE Seydou Traore signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins Thursday, June 4. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: In dynasty formats we are monitoring Traore because of his "F" skill set. He's a receiving tight end who can work in the middle of the field effectively. A member of the NFL's International Pathway Program, Traore is a former goalkeeper and has soft hands as a receiver. Traore has plenty of work to do in terms of development, but he's an intriguing prospect.
Minnesota Vikings WR Joaquin Davis was waived Thursday, June 4.
Link to storyDenver Broncos WR Michael Woods II (undisclosed) and TE Caleb Lohner (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Thursday, June 4.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR George Pickens was not present for the voluntary workout Thursday, June 4, but is expected to take part in the mandatory minicamp next week, according to NFL Network's Jane Slater.
Footballguys view: The workouts are voluntary, so we're not too concerned. When the work becomes mandatory next week, Pickens should be in attendance. Pickens already signed his franchise tag earlier this year, so he's fully guaranteed $27.3 MM for the 2026 season. We'll see if a long-term contract can be worked out before the start of the regular season.
Undrafted free-agent WR Kyre Duplessis (Delaware) signed with the Detroit Lions Thursday, June 4. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyHouston Texans WR Jalen Walthall was waived Thursday, June 4.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Thursday, June 4, after suffering an injury Wednesday, June 3, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.

Link to storyFree-agent WR Gee Scott (Commanders) signed with the New York Jets Thursday, June 4. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyPittsburgh Steelers TE Chamon Metayer was waived Thursday, June 4.
Link to storyDenver Broncos QB Bo Nix was seen on the sideline at the team's OTAs on Thursday, June 4. Nix is working his way back from a broken ankle suffered in January.
Footballguys view: There are some who think we could see Nix out there at mandatory minicamp in just a couple of weeks. Nix injured his ankle in the Divisional Round win over the Bills, and he had to have a cleanup second surgery after it was initially repaired. So long as Nix is out there in training camp, the Broncos have no worries at the quarterback position. Nix with Jaylen Waddle could be quite fun for Broncos fans...and Fantasy GMs... in 2026.
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Darnell Washington reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $42 million to remain with the team on Wednesday, June 3.
Footballguys view: The third-round pick (2023) out of Georgia is a devastating blocker, and he's an integral part of what the Steelers can do on offense. As a receiver, Washington's output has been limited (57 catches, 625 yards and two touchdowns in three seasons) because he's relied on to be a blocker. Thus, Washington's fantasy value is much lower than his 'real football' value to the Steelers.
Darnell Washington player page
Miami Dolphins WR Tutu Atwell 'appears to be more than just a deep-ball threat' based on his performance at minicamp, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Atwell can fly down the field, so he could be a deep-ball threat for the Dolphins in 2026. What would more entail for the Dolphins no.3 receiver? It's unlikely that Atwell provides more than 'what the heck' flex value from a fantasy perspective, and that's only in deeper leagues.
Tutu Atwell player page
Miami Dolphins QB Malik Willis delivered some 'highlight' throws and displayed his arm strength during minicamp Wednesday, June 3.
Footballguys view: It's OTAs, so these things are going to happen but it's a good sign at least. We're listening for offseason 'drumbeats' and if you keep hearing Willis 'flashes' at OTAs, mandatory minicamp, training camp, and into the preseason then you'll know he's impressing with his new team. We're excited about Willis this year even though the Dolphins are unlikely to push for the playoffs in 2026. He's a mid-to-low-range QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs.
Chicago Bears WR Rome Odunze said he is '100% confident' in his ability to become the No. 1 wide receiver for the Bears in 2026.
Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs should be excited about what the Bears' passing game can look like in 2026 with Odunze as the no.1 receiver. His fantasy value is that of a low-end WR2/high-end WR3, but the upside is there for Odunze to produce at a higher rate if things click.
Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert said he has been working on overhauling his footwork under the guidance of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. 'Mechanically, it's a little different timing, he wants the ball out early,' Herbert said. 'We feel like that is going to help us get the ball out quicker.'
Footballguys view: Have we seen the best of Herbert? I think we can all say that answer is no. Does McDaniel get the best from Herbert this year? That's a possibility, and it will be fun to watch if that happens. He's one of the most naturally talented passers in the NFL, and now Herbert gets to run a potentially dynamic system. Stay tuned.

Free-agent QB Russell Wilson (Giants) announced his retirement from professional football Wednesday, June 3.
Footballguys view: Wilson is going to be an analyst with CBS, so his retirement comes as no surprise. A former Super Bowl champion (2012) with the Seahawks, Wilson will always be remembered for having one of the prettiest 'moon balls' in NFL history (him or Jeff Blake). With a championship and 10 Pro Bowl nods, the next stop of Wilson is the Pro Football Hall of Fame - although many debate his qualifications for the ultimate honor.
