Commanders | Antonio Williams could move around Sun May 17, 05:58 PM
Washington Commanders WR Antonio Williams was used mostly as a slot receiver during his college career, but head coach Dan Quinn said Williams can line up at multiple spots for the team.
Footballguys view: Williams should be a contributor, but whether he does enough to matter in fantasy leagues depends on his adjustment to the NFL quality of cornerbacks. College corners gave his speed a lot of respect, while outside corners in the NFL won't be afraid of Williams and do a lot to disrupt his route close to the line of scrimmage. The Commanders could also trade for Brandon Aiyuk, wait for Aiyuk's release, or sign Stefon Diggs to slow down the Williams hype train.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph could be on 'borrowed time' with the return of QB Aaron Rodgers, and given the draft pick investment of QB Will Howard and rookie QB Drew Allar, the Steelers are unlikely to carry four quarterbacks, in the opinion of Joe Clark of Steelers Depot on Sunday, May 17.
Footballguys view: The Steelers would be smart to wait until training camp opens, when teams could become dissatisfied with the quality of their backup quarterback or suffer an injury to their backup, which would give Rudolph trade value. If the Steelers keep Rudolph into the season, it means they don't trust Will Howard yet - a bad sign for his development.

Undrafted free-agent RB Miles Davis (Utah State) will work out for the Carolina Panthers, according to a source.
Link to storyJacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter's role with the team has not changed despite rumors that he would have a greater role on the defensive side of the ball in 2026, according to head coach Liam Coen.
Footballguys view: Hunter is worth a late round pick to see if he gets enough involvement and makes enough plays to be relevant in fantasy leagues despite being a two-way player. He also makes Trevor Lawrence an even more attractive target to be your QB1 once 6-7 quarterbacks are off of the board.
Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (shoulder) will be a limited participant in organized team activities and should be completely healthy by the beginning of training camp.
Footballguys view: In the meantime, free agent pickup Kenneth Gainwell and RB3 extraordinaire Sean Tucker will get a head start in new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson's offense. Irving is still the most valuable fantasy running back on the Bucs, but after Robinson called the backs interchangeable, the ADP spread between him and Gainwell shouldn't be five rounds.
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $25 million on Saturday, May 16.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Beck could see some playing time during the second half of the 2026 season if the Cardinals are not competing for a playoff spot, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss.
Footballguys view: That would make sense if the rookie got out there in the latter half of the season. The Cardinals are in a rebuild mode (again), and Jacoby Brissett is their starter to open the year. When out of contention, the Cardinals can turn to Beck to see if anything is there long term. With a great quarterback class coming in 2027, the Cardinals could be in position to draft one with a premium pick.
Las Vegas Raiders RB Mike Washington Jr. should have a chance to earn a solid role as a change-of-pace back for the Raiders during his rookie season, in the opinion of Raiders.com's Levi Edwards.
Footballguys view: Washington has a great size/speed combination. He's a powerful back who can punish defenders or run by them. Washington needs to be better in pass protection and ball security if he's going to play as a change-of-pace option behind Ashton Jeanty.
Undrafted free-agent WR Sean Brown (Charlotte) did not sign with the Denver Broncos after the 2026 NFL Draft because of a failed physical.
Link to storyBaltimore Ravens RB Justice Hill will likely be the No. 2 running back for the Ravens in 2026 if he can show that he is healthy, in the opinion of BaltimoreRavens.com's Clifton Brown.
Footballguys view: Hill is a seasoned veteran who can be relied on as a three-down player. He won't get on the field much unless Derrick Henry is banged up or needs a breather. That means his fantasy value would be low unless the opportunity changes - and then Hill could at least be an RB3/flex option with a larger role. Rasheen Ali and rookie Adam Randall will push Hill for the no.2 job.

New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson is expected to increase his production in 2026, in the opinion of Matt Legros of Patriots Wire on Saturday, May 16.
Footballguys view: Stevenson will continue to work in tandem with TreVeyon Henderson, just like he did last season. In 2025, Stevenson finished the year as the no.22 fantasy back in standard-scoring leagues. Expect him to finish in a similar spot despite the speculation that he could see an increase in production.

Houston Texans RB Woody Marks said offensive coordinator Nick Caley has had him working on his route running this offseason.
Footballguys view: Marks has big-play ability anytime he touches the ball. It would make sense for the Texans to have him work on his receiving ability. David Montgomery was added to work with Marks in an RBBC. With Montgomery likely the lead back, and Marks playing more of a receiving-back role, we could see Marks settling in as a deep flex play for Fantasy GMs.
Cleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston said he has been working on improving his quickness out of routes this offseason.
Footballguys view: The big-bodied rookie can move around smaller defenders on contested catches. Working on getting in and out of his routes quicker will only make him better. The Browns' passing game is a bit of an unknown right now (is Deshaun Watson good anymore?), but we love Boston in dynasty formats.
Former USC WR Makai Lemon was almost selected in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 15th overall selection in the first round, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac. The pick belonged to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the two sides were close to finalizing a deal which would have allowed the Steelers to move up from the 21st overall pick but the Buccaneers instead selected former Miami (FL) LB Rueben Bain Jr., whom they had not expected to fall to them. The Philadelphia Eagles eventually chose Lemon with the 20th pick after moving up and the Steelers selected former Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor with the following pick.
Footballguys view: The Eagles moved up to no.20 to select Lemon, and they couldn't get him on the phone because he was talking to the Steelers. If you snooze, you lose, especially when Howie Roseman is always lurking around looking to make deals.
Free-agent WR Stefon Diggs (Patriots) 'would love' to re-sign with the New England Patriots this offseason but a deal with the team could be contingent on whether the Patriots are able to complete a trade for Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown, according to Albert Breer of SI.com.
Footballguys view: Brown to the Patriots has been a thing for a minute, but no deal has yet come to fruition. Now that his signing won't impact compensatory picks, Diggs should find a new home before training camp. We'll see if that happens with the Patriots or elsewhere for the 2026 season.

ESPN's Ben Solak thinks that Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka could lead the NFL in targets and receptions in 2026.
Footballguys view: Third round pick Ted Hurst is slated to play at the "X" receiver position vacated by Mike Evans, so Egbuka can move back to his best spot at "Z" receiver or flanker, which is the wide receiver spot that can be moved around the formation. Egbuka got off to a very hot start last year, but once he was playing more in Evans spot and Baker Mayfield got banged up, his production dropped off. Egbuka could be one of the biggest breakout players of 2026 and he should be a consideration in the fourth round of drafts.
Las Vegas Raiders head coach should be expected to use more 12 and 13 personnel plays to help out RB Ashton Jeanty in 2026, according to ESPN's Ben Solak.
Footballguys view: The Raiders best pass catcher is a tight end - Brock Bowers - and they also have 2023 second round pick Michael Mayer and experienced journeyman Ian Thomas. Jack Bech is a good blocker at wide receiver and he could be used all over the formation as both a blocker and receiver. We should trust Klint Kubiak to set Jeanty up for success, making him worth a late first or early second round pick even though the Raiders offense let him and his fantasy teams down last year.
Dallas Cowboys RB Malik Davis is believed to be the favorite to land the team's RB2 role, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Nick Harris.
Footballguys view: This is an important backup running back battle to watch. The Cowboys were among the league leaders in running back scores, with 16, and their offensive line had some bad injury luck. Their defense should also be improved, so this might be a plug and play situation if Javonte Williams misses time. 2025 fifth round pick Jaydon Blue and seventh round pick Phil Mafah are also contenders to be the top backup to Williams.
Undrafted free-agent WR Terrill Davis (Oklahoma State) signed with the Minnesota Vikings Thursday, May 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks WR Michael Briscoe was waived Thursday, May 14, with a failure to disclose physical condition designation.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers TE Luke Lachey (undisclosed) was waived Thursday, May 14, with a failed physical designation.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent WR Mante' Morrow (Upper Iowa) signed with the Los Angeles Chargers Thursday, May 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyHouston Texans second-round draft choice TE Marlin Klein signed a four-year contract with the Texans Thursday, May 14. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Born in Germany, Klein is the highest-drafted German player in NFL history. He's a big target with high-end speed and explosiveness (9.59 RAS). Klein was mainly a blocker, spending time at Michigan behind 2025 first-round pick Colston Loveland, so his production as a receiver in college was limited.
Undrafted free-agent WR Rashad Rochelle (Indiana State) and WR Trayvon Rudolph (Toledo) signed with the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, May 14. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent RB Jalen Berger (UCLA) worked out for the Indianapolis Colts Thursday, May 14, according to a source.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins said his goal is to record at least 1,000 receiving yards this upcoming season. He has not reached the number since the 2022 season.
Footballguys view: So long as QB Joe Burrow stays healthy, Higgins could easily hit that number. Fantasy GMs are excited about the Bengals' passing attack, as per usual, and Higgins is seen as a WR2 with upside.

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams was instructed to tweak his shotgun stance and put his left foot forward instead of his right. This was part of head coach Ben Johnson's tweaks during the season.
Footballguys view: The Bears' quarterback certainly responded to Johnson's coaching. They have the toughest strength of schedule in 2026, but with a year under his belt in Johnson's system, we could see Williams continue to thrive and grow.
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension worth $68 million - including $32 million guaranteed - to remain with the team on Wednesday, May 13.

Updating previous reports, undrafted free-agent QB Luke Altmyer (Illinois) and TE Miles Kitselman (Tennessee) officially signed with the Detroit Lions Tuesday, May 12. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Link to storyFormer Houston Texans TE Luke Lachey was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers Tuesday, May 12.
Link to storyPittsburgh Steelers K Chris Boswell signed his four-year contract extension with the team on Wednesday, May 13, worth $28 million.
Footballguys view: As previously reported here, the annual average of Boswell's new deal -- $6.22 million -- ranks fourth among league kickers. Brandon Aubrey of the Dallas Cowboys, who signed a four-year, $28 million deal last month, has the highest annual average. Boswell ranks fifth in NFL history in field goal accuracy at 87.7 percent. He is the only kicker with more than 10 career playoff attempts to convert every one, going 19 for 19. Boswell's Footballguys projection -- PK11 -- puts him in the starting tier.

Pittsburgh Steelers third-round pick QB Drew Allar is having everything he has learned 'uninstalled,' and the Steelers are teaching him new mechanics and footwork. Head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterbacks coach Tom Arth are working on widening Allar's base and keeping him off of his toes, which they believe will give him more time to process information for quicker decisions.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Brooke Pryor notes, at 6-5 with a wide arm span and nearly 10-inch hands, Allar possesses the raw traits McCarthy looks for in his West Coast-style quarterbacks. And as a three-year starter at Penn State with 61 career touchdowns and 7,402 career passing yards, Allar has the pedigree to be a top-tier signal-caller. Still, Allar's mechanics need work to make him a more consistent player. The real question here, of course, is whether Aaron Rodgers will show up and be the starter this year, or if the Steelers need to work on Allar and their other options.
Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young had his fifth-year extension picked up, but the Panthers are reportedly talking through an extension and GM Dan Morgan will be in touch with Young's agent, according to an interview on NFL Network on Tuesday, May 12.
Footballguys view: The Panthers have Young under contract for two more years. ESPN's Dan Graziano noted on Tuesday that the team "doesn't seem in a huge hurry" to work out an extension with the former first overall pick. The hesitancy on Carolina's part stems from the fact that the QB market got absolutely nuked with young quarterbacks signing record-setting deals, and it needs to adjust back. As AtoZSports' Ken Noble suggested, the Panthers are smart by letting the QB market cool back down before paying Young. For our purposes, Young remains a low-end QB2.

Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett was informed by the team that he is their starting quarterback, despite missing voluntary workouts, according to a source on Tuesday, May 11.
Footballguys view: Brissett wants a restructured contract for the final season of the two-year deal he signed in March 2025. He finished last season as the top-ranked quarterback from Week 6, when he was given his first start after Kyler Murray was injured, in terms of dropbacks, completions, and attempts. He was second in passing yards and fourth in completion percentage above expected. As Brissett had a career year, he brought along pass catchers Michael Wilson and Trey McBride with him. But the Cardinals went 1-11 in Brissett's 12 starts. It's fair to wonder if he'll get as many attempts this season.

Denver Broncos RB Deuce Vaughn was waived on Tuesday, May 12.
Footballguys view: Vaughn entered the league with the Dallas Cowboys as a sixth-round pick out of Kansas State in the 2023 NFL draft. He totaled 168 yards from scrimmage on 50 touches in 14 career games in Dallas before landing on Denver's practice squad last summer. He did not appear in any games last season.

Los Angeles Chargers LB Niles King, TE Tanner McLachlan, TE Thomas Yassmin and CB Jeremiah Wilson were waived by the Chargers on Tuesday, May 12, with Wilson receiving a waived-injured designation.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Le'Veon Moss was placed on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday, May 12.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka will reportedly settle in as the 'Z' outside receiver, or flanker, after playing numerous spots as a rookie, according to Buccaneers.com's Scott Smith on Tuesday, May 12.
Footballguys view: Incoming Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson used to coach Cooper Kupp with the Rams, and he said on Tuesday that Egbuka has a very similar approach and instincts. The coach also confirmed the plan is for Egbuka to settle into the flanker role in the team's base offense, but that his football instincts make it easy to move him around in order to exploit matchups and maximize the production of the passing game this fall. Egbuka, who was WR4 over the first five games last year, is currently being drafted as WR19.
The Buffalo Bills signed WR Skyler Bell and LB Kaleb Elarms-Orr to four-year rookie contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (shoulder) will be limited at the start of OTAs.
Footballguys view: Irving is recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. According to local reports, the hope is that he'll be fully cleared by training camp. While he has been participating in rehab, team officials are taking a cautious approach to his return to full practice. We'll be watching for more on Irving in coming weeks. In the meantime, free-agent addition Kenneth Gainwell will get more work as the team installs new coordinator Zac Robinson's scheme.
Free agent TE Shane Zylstra (Lions) signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, May 12. In a corresponding move, the team released K Maddux Trujillo.
Footballguys view: Zylstra has appeared in 35 games with six starts in his career, all for the Lions. He's caught 18 passes for 136 yards with four touchdowns. Primarily a blocker, Zylstra joins a depth chart with Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, and Jackson Hawes ahead of him.
The Detroit Lions signed OT Blake Miller, DE Derrick Moore, LB Jimmy Rolder, CB Keith Abney II, WR Kendrick Law, DL Skyler Gill-Howard, and DL Tyre West to their rookie contracts on Tuesday, May 12.
Link to storyTennessee Titans WR Carnell Tate signed his rookie deal with the team on Tuesday, May 12. The contract is a four-year, $51.1 million deal that includes a $33,649,028 signing bonus.
Footballguys view: As Footballguy Sigmund Bloom suggests, Tate will become Cam Ward's No. 1 receiver of the future and maybe present. Ward is an aggressive downfield passer, and Tate is a smooth separator and ball winner at all three levels of the field. Bloom advised readers to be willing to trade up for Tate, who should level off as a top 10-15 fantasy receiver as long as Ward's upward trajectory coming out of last season continues.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Zac Robinson told the media that RB Bucky Irving and RB Kenneth Gainwell, 'can kind of match each other in certain ways with what they can do in the pass game.'
Footballguys view: Gainwell, who was signed to replace the departed Rachaad White, rushed for 537 yards and five touchdowns on 4.7 yards per carry, and caught 73 passes for 486 yards and three touchdowns for the Steelers last year. He eclipsed 1,000 scrimmage yards on the season and was voted by his teammates as Steelers team MVP. With Irving coming off shoulder surgery performed earlier this year, Gainwell will get a chance to get a head start in the team's new offense. We expect a timeshare with Irving leading the way, but Gainwell's progress should be monitored.
Kenneth Gainwell player page
Tampa Bay Buccaneers third-round pick WR Ted Hurst could fill the X-receiver spot, according to offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Hurst can run, has great hands and is an instinctual player, according to Robinson.
Footballguys view: According to Tampa Bay Times staffer Rick Stroud, Hurst "owned" the Bucs' first rookie minicamp, drawing the most targets and making the most catches over two days of practice. Hurst has big shoes to fill if he's going to handle the vacated Mike Evans role. But he has the size (6-4, 210 pounds) and speed (4.42) to be a true X receiver like Evans, who can stretch a defense both vertically and horizontally. Still, keep expectations in check as Hurst starts his career behind Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr., and Jalen McMillan at the top of the depth chart.
Undrafted free-agent WR Brock Rechsteiner (Jacksonville State) signed with the New Orleans Saints, according to a source on Monday, May 11.
