Browns | Denzel Ward TBD for start of camp    Fri Jun 24, 09:17 AM

Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward (foot) said he'd be ready for training camp, but he said 'we'll see' when he was asked if he'd be ready for the start of camp July 27.

Footballguys view: Ward is the the Browns #1 corner, so if he's not 100% to start the season, that could greatly help D.J. Moore's matchup in Week 1. The Jets, Steelers and Falcons also face the Browns in Weeks 2-4. We'll be watching this situation in training camp.

Patriots | Jack Jones could start at cornerback    Sun Jun 19, 10:09 AM

New England Patriots CB Jack Jones has emerged as a contender for the team's starting cornerback position opposite Jalen Mills, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss. In one recent mandatory minicamp practice, Jones worked with the first-team defense and consistently had tight coverage against starting-caliber wide receivers.

Footballguys view: Malcolm Butler was expected by some to win the starting spot vacated by J.C. Jackson when he left for Los Angeles in free agency to play for the Chargers, but Jones is obviously creating buzz. No matter who wins the job, the Patriots secondary will be more vulnerable without Jackson, who is a shutdown corner, and the change may force the Patriots to play less man coverage, a hallmark of the Belichick defense.

Broncos | Denver trying out five players    Mon Jun 13, 08:43 PM

Free-agent PK Elliott Fry (Bengals), TE Garrett Walston (49ers) and RB Max Borghi (Colts) are participating in the Denver Broncos minicamp this week on a tryout basis. Undrafted LS Daniel Cantrell (Boise State) and CB Mykael Wright (Oregon) are also trying out during the minicamp.

Footballguys view: Borghi plays like a poor man's Christian McCaffrey, and we thought he could be a late-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Instead, the Colts picked him up as a UDFA but he was cut when they signed RB Phillip Lindsay. Perhaps Borghi, a Colorado native who starred in college at Washington State, could impress enough to earn a spot in training camp later in the summer. In crazy deep dynasty formats we'll monitor him.
