Browns | Jerome Ford placed on IR Tue Dec 9, 04:10 PM
Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford (shoulder) was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Footballguys view: This was a sudden move, with Ford apparently sustaining his injury at some point during the Browns' 31-29 loss to the Titans this past Sunday. As CBSSports.com suggests, with just four games left on the Browns' schedule, Ford's 2025 campaign -- and perhaps his tenure in Cleveland -- will come to an end with his move to IR. Ford's absence over the next four weeks could clear the way for Raheim Sanders to step in as the No. 3 running back behind fellow rookies Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.
George Pickens' effort in last week's Dallas Cowboys loss to the Detroit Lions was a big talking point. Over the extended layoff, coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke with Pickens about the situation, but said he wasn't making a mountain out of a mole hill. "We talked a little bit about it," Schottenheimer said Monday. "In his words, he said, 'Hey Schotty, I didn't play my best game.' I think that, unfortunately, none of us played our best game. But again, I don't worry about George and his love for football and playing this game."
Footballguys view: Pickens generated five catches for 37 yards in the 44-30 loss in Detroit. The struggles were particularly notable after CeeDee Lamb left the contest with a concussion. After three roller-coaster seasons in Pittsburgh, which included questions similar to those that arose last week, Pickens has turned things around in Dallas, generating 78 catches, 1,179 yards, and eight touchdowns through 13 games -- all career highs. Schottenheimer isn't worried about last week's struggles bleeding into the rest of the season for the wideout, and fantasy investors should take that same approach in Week 15.
Rookie QB Riley Leonard's status for the Colts' next game, at the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, is still unclear. The team is hoping for more clarity on Wednesday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. When asked on Monday whether Leonard would play Sunday, coach Shane Steichen said, "That's the hope. We'll see how it goes." But source told Schefter on Monday night that Leonard had a strained knee ligament and was considered week-to-week.
Footballguys view: If Leonard can't play, Philip Rivers, who worked out for the team Monday night and was signed to the practice squad Tuesday, might enter the picture. Still remembered fondly at Colts headquarters following his one season with Indianapolis in 2020, Rivers will be reunited with his close friend Steichen. The two previously spent six seasons together in the Chargers organization while Steichen was an assistant coach and Rivers was the team's longtime quarterback. Riley starting would be the desired outcome in Indy, but clearly the team is going to great lengths to prepare if he's not.
Free agent QB Philip Rivers signed with the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Footballguys view: With starter Daniel Jones (Achilles) out for the season and backup Riley Leonard dealing with a knee injury, the Colts turned to Rivers as an emergency solution. Before the Colts can determine how soon Rivers can play, they have to see how he feels and practices Wednesday and Thursday. But Rivers played in this offense his entire career, and his relationship with coach Shane Steichen will be seamless. So this is more of a physical question than a mental one. The Colts believe Rivers could give them a realistic chance to stay competitive. Leonard's health will also be a factor.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Metcalf (stomach) could miss some practice time, but he should be able to play in Week 15, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
Footballguys view: Metcalf went to a Baltimore hospital after experiencing stomach pain. Tomlin said at his Tuesday press conference that the wideout was injured on a hit early in the game, and the pain got worse despite taking over-the-counter medication during the game. He added that Metcalf is "moving in the right direction." We'll continue to monitor this one as Monday night's game against the Dolphins draws nearer.

A report on Monday said that quarterback Philip Rivers would work out for the Colts on Tuesday, but things are moving more quickly in Indianapolis. Per multiple reports on Tuesday morning, Rivers actually had his workout with his former team on Monday night. Those reports indicate Rivers, who retired after the 2020 season, threw the ball well during the workout.
Footballguys view: As PFT notes, there's no word on an agreement, and the Colts are believed to be mulling over whether to bring Rivers in as an option to step in at quarterback in the wake of Daniel Jones' season-ending Achilles injury. Rookie Riley Leonard replaced Jones on Sunday, but is dealing with knee soreness that has clouded his availability for Week 15's game against the Seahawks. The Colts currently have Brett Rypien on the practice squad, and he's the only other in-house option, as Anthony Richardson is not a candidate to come off of injured reserve at this time. Stay tuned.
Los Angeles Chargers RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) had 13 carries for 56 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14. Hampton also had two receptions, 11 yards, and a touchdown.
Footballguys view: With Hampton back for the first time since Week 5, he and Kimani Vidal shared the workload, and both delivered. On the opening drive, they combined for 78 yards, capped off by a 4-yard receiving touchdown by Hampton. Their workload was similar -- Hampton with 13 carries and Vidal with 14 -- and both finished in RB2 territory. Low-end RB2 to flex outcomes seem like reasonable starting points for expectations here, but as ESPN.com's Kris Rhim suggested, the coming weeks will determine whether this is a timeshare or if Hampton will return to a featured role.
Retired QB Philip Rivers is expected to work out for the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, Dec. 9, to see if he can join the team's practice squad, according to sources.
Footballguys view: While it's unclear if Rivers, who last played in 2020 with the Colts, is in football shape after being away from the game for so long, he would have intimate knowledge of the Colts' offensive scheme and would be a seamless addition in terms of working with head coach Shane Steichen. The two worked closely together during Steichen's days as the Los Angeles Chargers' offensive coordinator before Rivers' one season with the Colts. Whether Rivers is a viable option remains to be seen. But the Colts believe his familiarity could give them a realistic chance. Monday is Rivers' 44th birthday. Stay tuned.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (eye) will not have his 21-day practice window opened this week, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: Richardson remains on injured reserve after sustaining an orbital fracture while warming up prior to a game earlier this season. A pole that was attached to a stretch band snapped and impacted Richardson around his eye. "He's still working through it," Steichen said of Richardson. "Obviously it's an eye, it's very delicate. So he's just resting it, and then once the doctors and trainers clear him to be activated - that's where it's at right now. Still just healing up." According to Profootballtalk.com, the Colts don't know when or if he'll be cleared at any point in 2025.

One week after undergoing surgery for a fracture in his left hand, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert rushed for the third-most yards in his career, stiff-arming the Eagles in a 22-19 overtime win Monday night that prompted L.A. coach Jim Harbaugh to call him a "superhero."
Footballguys view: Herbert's stats weren't that impressive: 139 passing yards, the sixth-fewest of his six-year NFL career, on a career-worst 46 percent completion rate. None of it mattered. What did matter was his playmaking, especially on the ground. He ran for a team-high 66 yards on 10 carries and produced three first downs on scrambles, giving him 18 for the season. That's fourth most in the NFL after Patrick Mahomes (24), Baker Mayfield (20), and Drake Maye (20). Herbert's 18 first downs on scrambles were also his most in any season. Herbert finished the week as QB17 with 14.2 fantasy points.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts completed 21 of 40 passes for 240 yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions in an overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Hurts, who ran four times for eight yards, also lost a fumble to become the first player to commit two turnovers on the same play.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Tim McManus noted, Hurts was protecting the football as well as anyone for the bulk of the season, but now has seven giveaways in two games. His receiving corps could have helped him out more -- an A.J. Brown drop over the middle in the second half led to a pick -- but Hurts held the offense back more than anyone against L.A. Fantasy investors were also probably held back by Hurts' QB29 finish with 2.4 points.

Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London (knee) did not participate in practice Monday, Dec. 8. The Falcons did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.
Footballguys view: Although coach Raheem Morris characterized London as "day-to-day" earlier, today was not the day. London has missed the last three games due to a knee injury he sustained back in Week 11. The Falcons play the Buccaneers on Thursday night this week. We'll be watching London's status closely, but early signs aren't good.
Now official: Chargers RB Omarion Hampton, who has been out since fracturing his ankle in week 5 against Washington, has been activated off injured reserve and is expected to play tonight vs. the Eagles.
Footballguys view: That's been the expectation since he worked fully in practice late last week. Hampton has been sidelined since suffering an ankle fracture in Week 5, but was off to a stellar start with 450 total yards and three touchdowns on 4.8 YPC. He also contributed to the passing attack as a receiver. It's reasonable to believe he'll give way to Kimani Vidal on occasion in his first game back, but Hampton is a solid RB2 play going up against an Eagles defense that will be without Jalen Carter.
Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson (hip, pelvis) is scheduled to undergo core muscle surgery this week and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Hendrickson is in the final year of his contract and set to become a free agent in March. He requested a trade in the offseason, before working out a one-year deal with the Bengals. Cincinnati gave him a $13 million raise, which got him back on the field ahead of the start of the season. The Bengals could sign him to an extension this offseason or use the franchise tag on him. The tag wasn't a concern for Hendrickson when he agreed to the re-worked contract. But it's also reasonable to think Hendrickson has played his last down in Cincinnati.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Sunday that "the early signals aren't good" about tight end Zach Ertz's knee injury, and further tests confirmed the team's fears about the nature of the injury. Quinn said at his Monday press conference that Ertz suffered a torn ACL. He will have surgery to repair the injury and will miss the rest of the season.
Footballguys view: Ertz had one catch in Sunday's loss to the Vikings before being carted off with his leg in a brace. He had 50 catches for 504 yards and four touchdowns for the season. Ertz signed a one-year contract with the Commanders for this season. If he plays in 2026, it will be his 14th NFL season. John Bates, Ben Sinnott, and Colson Yankoff all move up the depth chart with Ertz out.

Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell avoided a serious knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, coach John Harbaugh said Monday. Mitchell is considered day to day. He left the game in the third quarter after a 55-yard run. "We got good news," Harbaugh said. "So we'll see where we're at tomorrow and Wednesday."
Footballguys view: Mitchell, who had a season-high-tying six carries for 76 yards, indicated Sunday night on Instagram that the injury was not serious. "I'm good. we good. Can't stop won't stop," he wrote. After Mitchell's exit, starter Derrick Henry (25 carries for 94 yards) and reserve Rasheen Ali (one carry for 2 yards) split snaps in the fourth quarter. Justice Hill, the Ravens' top pass blocker at the position, was placed on injured reserve in late November. We'll follow up as needed.

Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is back in the concussion protocol. Higgins was evaluated for a concussion multiple times during Sunday's loss to the Bills and passed those tests, but head coach Zac Taylor said at a Monday press conference that the wideout reported symptoms after the game. That led to him being placed in the protocol.
Footballguys view: Higgins had six catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the 39-34 loss. He missed Week 13 with a concussion and said after Sunday's game that he had no concern about staying in the game despite hitting his head on the turf multiple times. The Bengals host the Ravens in Week 15. Higgins' progress through the protocol will be updated when the team practices on Wednesday.

Buccaneers WR Mike Evans has been pushing to play as soon as Thursday night against the Falcons as he works himself back into football shape from the broken clavicle he suffered earlier this season. There's a chance he will play then, and if not, then the Sunday, Dec. 21 game at Carolina would be realistic.
Footballguys view: Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Monday that Evans is in play for Thursday night's game. The veteran wideout has missed significant time this season due to injury. Early in the season, he missed three weeks with a hamstring injury, only for him to return in Week 7 and suffer the broken clavicle that landed him on injured reserve. His 21-day practice window was opened about a week ago, and he is working himself back to return to the field. It appears his efforts are paying off. Stay tuned.
Mike Evans player page
Cincinnati Bengals WR Jermaine Burton was waived Monday, Dec. 8.
Footballguys view: Burton did not travel with the team to Buffalo for their NFL Week 14 loss to the Bills at Highmark Stadium, and he was ruled out for non-injury-related reasons, per the team's injury report. The Bengals announced before the game that Burton was suspended for that game. Burton, a third-round pick of the Bengals in the 2024 NFL draft who attended Georgia and Alabama, didn't play in a regular-season game during the 2025 season. Burton played in 14 games as a rookie, recording four catches for 107 receiving yards.
Baltimore Ravens WR DeAndre Hopkins is a player that head coach John Harbaugh would like to have more involved in the offense.
Footballguys view: According to Pro Football Focus, Hopkins played 13 offensive snaps against the Steelers, his fewest in a game since Week 5. He played 92.8 percent of the 11-personnel snaps from Weeks 5-13 but only 50 percent in this game, rotating with LaJohntay Wester, at times. Even with an increased role, Hopkins' days of being fantasy-relevant are over.

Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London (knee) is still considered day-to-day because of his knee injury, according to head coach Raheem Morris.
Footballguys view: "Drake is still day-to-day," Morris told reporters. "We'll get a feel there." London has missed the last three games due to a knee injury he sustained back in Week 11. The fourth-year wide receiver was having a great season before suffering a PCL sprain. Over nine games, London has recorded 60 receptions for 810 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Morris sounded somewhat optimistic about London returning in Week 15. The Falcons play the Buccaneers on Thursday night this week. We'll be watching London's status closely.
Indianapolis Colts QB Riley Leonard (knee) is dealing with a knee injury, and his availability for Week 15 is uncertain at this point, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: This news comes on the heels of Steichen confirming that Daniel Jones did suffer a torn Achilles and will be out for the remainder of the season. Steichen said that Leonard is "working through" the injury, and the "hope" is that he will be able to play Sunday against the Seahawks. However, Steichen cannot say that for sure just yet. Anthony Richardson remains on injured reserve, which means the only fully healthy quarterback for the Colts right now is practice squad QB Brett Rypien. He has appeared in 11 games with four starts since entering the NFL in 2019.
Rookie Shedeur Sanders will remain the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns' final four games of the season, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced Monday.
Footballguys view: Sanders started the previous three games. He is coming off the best game, accounting for 394 total yards and four touchdowns in the Browns' 31-29 home loss to the Titans. His QB2 finish overall in Week 14 was a pleasant surprise. He has completed 52.4 percent of his passes (54-of-103) for 769 passing yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown on eight carries. The hope for fantasy managers is that he'll keep the offense on schedule and give the pieces we're invested in a chance to deliver for us.
Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the 2025 season, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: Jones was playing through what was reported to be a hairline fracture in his left fibula when he went down in the first quarter on Sunday with an injury to his opposite leg. Although a torn Achilles is easily diagnosed, Jones underwent an MRI on Monday to confirm the injury. Jones is headed to free agency and might not be ready to play in Week 1 next season. The Colts and Vikings were both rumored to be in on signing Jones, but the nine-month recovery adds enough uncertainty to cloud the issue.
Daniel Jones player page
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (rib) underwent an MRI on the rib injury he suffered during the Week 14 game, and it did not show any serious issues. He may miss some practice time this week but seems to have a good chance to play in Week 15.
Footballguys view: As The Sporting News suggests, one of the best dual-threat running backs should be good to go going forward. Achane has 193 carries for 1,126 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He's caught 55 of 73 targets for 383 yards and four touchdowns. Still, it's worth noting Jaylen Wright saw the bulk of the touches after Achane's injury, finishing with 107 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. We'll monitor Achane's status this week, but Wright should be a waiver priority for this week's game at Pittsburgh.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan (neck) has a chance to be available for the Week 15 game, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: McMillan, who has yet to play this season after injuring his neck this summer, returned to practice last week, but he was not officially activated. He'll have a chance to return on a short week against the Falcons.
With Colts starting quarterback Daniel Jones out for the season after tearing an Achilles tendon on Sunday, the next question becomes whether Anthony Richardson will be able to step in. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Richardson -- who suffered an orbital fracture before the Week 6 game against the Cardinals -- has not been cleared to return. Moreover, the Colts don't know when or if he'll be cleared at any point in 2025.
Footballguys view: That leaves rookie Riley Leonard as the starter. Brett Rypien is on the practice squad. On Sunday, the emergency option was tight end Tyler Warren. The fourth overall pick in 2023, Richardson started four games as a rookie and 11 in 2024. The Colts signed Jones to compete with Richardson, and Jones won the job. Richardson remains under contract through 2026. But it's up in the air, at best, as to whether he'll be able to play in any of the final four regular-season games or any postseason games.

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (concussion) is progressing nicely through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Footballguys view: In addition to Schottenheimer's positive comments, Lamb offered a positive update on his status in an Instagram post. "Blessed in an understatement. Love yall," Lamb wrote. That said, Lamb must work his way through the protocol with the Dallas medical staff evaluating the All-Pro receiver over the coming week. The long turnaround from a Thursday kickoff will work in his favor. On the off chance Lamb, who has 57 catches, 895 yards, and three touchdowns this season, isn't ready to play the Vikings this week, George Pickens, Jake Ferguson, Ryan Flournoy, and KaVontae Turpin will be standing by.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Metcalf (stomach) was hospitalized after leaving a flight due to stomach pain Sunday, Nov. 7. Out of an abundance of caution, he stayed overnight in a Baltimore hospital and is flying back to Pittsburgh Monday, Dec. 8.
Footballguys view: Metcalf, who had a season-high 148 yards on seven catches in the win against the Ravens, was sent to a Baltimore-area hospital for evaluation by team medical personnel. We'll continue to monitor this one. The Steelers host the Miami Dolphins on "Monday Night Football" in Week 15, giving Metcalf a longer week before he's scheduled to be back on the field.

Houston Texans TE Brevin Jordan agreed to a one-year extension Monday, Dec. 8. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: Currently on season-ending IR, Jordan has appeared in 36 games and had 12 starts in his four seasons with Houston. He has 53 catches on 80 targets for 532 yards and five touchdowns. For now, the Texans will continue to roll out the duo of Dalton Schultz and Cade Stover at the position for the final four weeks of the season, and for any playoff run that might ensue. Schultz has emerged as the leader in the tight end room, being their second-leading receiver on the year behind only Nico Collins.
Brevin Jordan player page
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 14 of his 33 passes for 160 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions in a Week 14 loss to the Houston Texans. Mahomes ran the ball seven times for a team-high 59 yards as well.
Footballguys view: Mahomes was QB25 through Sunday night. He's now come up short in four of his last five outings: Mahomes was QB25 against Buffalo in Week 9, scoring just 8.5 points; he was QB15 against Denver in Week 11, with 13.3 points; and QB14 against the Colts in Week 12, with 15.1 points. His QB1, 29.4-point Week 13, reminds us the upside is there, but with injuries along the offensive line and a poor rushing attack, opposing defenses are able to focus on Mahomes and the passing attack. He'll try to turn things around against the Chargers in Week 15.

Commanders tight end Zach Ertz left Sunday's 31-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with what is believed to be a torn ACL, according to coach Dan Quinn. "Early signs say a serious injury," said Quinn, who added that Ertz will undergo imaging on Monday.
Footballguys view: Ertz was hurt in the third quarter and had to be helped off the field. He was unable to put pressure on the leg. He was soon carted to the locker room, a towel draped over his head, and was ruled out with the injury early in the fourth quarter. Ertz, 35, has 49 receptions for 493 yards and four touchdowns this season. Last week, he moved into fifth place on the all-time receptions list for an NFL tight end. He now has 825. John Bates, Ben Sinnott, and Colson Yankoff are the other tight ends on the roster.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels did not return after aggravating his left elbow injury in the third quarter Sunday. Coach Dan Quinn said after the 31-0 loss to the Vikings that Daniels could have returned, but a coach decided to keep him out. Marcus Mariota finished the game.
Footballguys view: The Commanders trailed only 14-0 when Daniels' elbow slammed against the turf as he was pursuing Vikings LB Andrew Van Ginkel after an interception. Quinn added that he plans for Daniels to continue playing this season despite the Commanders being eliminated from playoff contention. Daniels dislocated his left elbow while bracing a fall during a sack in Week 9. He missed three games before returning to start Sunday's game. Daniels went 9-of-20 for 78 yards and an interception and ran for 16 yards on four carries. We'll be watching for more on this in coming days.

Broncos RB RJ Harvey ran for 75 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and added six catches for 25 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Raiders.
Footballguys view: Harvey's three-yard scoring run late in the third period gave Denver what seemed like an almost insurmountable two-touchdown lead. Harvey has five TD runs this season and four through the air. After being thrust into a starting role following J.K. Dobbins' season-ending injury, Harvey has steadily earned a larger workload and the trust of the coaching staff in big moments. Harvey has been great all year through the passing game and in the red zone, but Sunday marked the first game he was able to run the ball effectively. The Broncos host the Packers in Week 15.
Packers WR Christian Watson continued his dominant run with 89 yards and two touchdowns on four catches in Sunday's 28-21 win over the Bears.
Footballguys view: Watson is now up to 452 yards in the last seven games, a pace that would put him on track for 1,100 yards over a full season. He's shown no signs last year's torn ACL has slowed him down. After catching a 23-yard touchdown in the second quarter, he caught a quick slant and ran 41 yards to the end zone in the third quarter. He reached 21.6 mph, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. That was the top speed by a Packers ball carrier since Watson hit 21.7 mph in 2022. The Packers play the Broncos in Week 15.
Rams RB Blake Corum rushed for 128 yards on 12 carries in Sunday's 45-10 win over the Cardinals, scoring two touchdowns after having only two in his previous 12 games combined.
Footballguys view: Corum had runs of 14 yards, 17 yards, 18 yards, and a knockout blow of 48 yards. On those four carries alone, he had 97 yards. To put those big plays into perspective, starter Kyren Williams only had six runs of 17-plus yards on 316 carries last season. Corum had four on just 12 carries Sunday. Corum's 26.1 fantasy points were the third-most by a running back through Sunday's late-afternoon games -- with Williams also finishing inside the top 10. The Rams host the Lions in Week 15.
Blake Corum player page
A master of tough catches, Puka Nacua put on a show while finishing with seven receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the Rams' 45-17 thumping of the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Footballguys view: Nacua's monster season continued at pace. Despite missing a game with a foot injury, Nacua arrived in Arizona tied for second in the NFL with 86 catches and was third with 1,019 yards. With his big day against the Cardinals, Nacua passed New Orleans' Michael Thomas for the most career receptions through 40 games with 277. He also moved up to 13th in Rams history for receptions and 14th in receiving yards -- in just his third season. Nacua's 35.7 fantasy points ranked second only to Arizona's Michael Wilson through Sunday's late-afternoon games. The Rams play Detroit in Week 15.
Puka Nacua player page
Cardinals WR Michael Wilson caught 11 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss suggested, all Wilson does when he's WR1 is go for 100 yards. On Sunday, with Marvin Harrison Jr. out with a heel injury, Wilson put up 37.2 fantasy points, leaving him as WR1 through Sunday's late-afternoon games. That's the third time he's been a WR1 and had 100 yards this year. The Cardinals will face a tough test in Week 15 when they take on the Texans.
Michael Wilson player page
Rams QB Matthew Stafford threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams (10-3) scored 35 unanswered points to bounce back from last week's turnover-filled loss to Carolina. Los Angeles won for the seventh time in eight games to stay tied with Seattle atop the NFC West, one game ahead of San Francisco.
Footballguys view: There were MVP chants in the postgame locker room for Stafford, who was taken out of the game early in the fourth quarter. "It's fun," Stafford said of hearing the chants from his teammates. "I don't play the game for that, but it's cool." Stafford had his seventh game of the season with three or more passing touchdowns Sunday (most in the NFL). Stafford was QB4 with 23.2 fantasy points through Sunday's late-afternoon games. The Rams host the Lions in Week 15.
Matthew Stafford player page
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. registered three receptions for a game-high 87 yards on six targets in Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts.
Footballguys view: Thomas Jr. had issues with drops early in the season (and an ankle injury), but he has been solid since he returned two weeks ago. Against the Colts, he delivered fantasy WR2 production with Trevor Lawrence taking downfield shots when Thomas had one-on-one coverage. The Jaguars needed Thomas to step up with Parker Washington inactive (hip), and he did, notching his first game with multiple 30-plus-yard catches. The Jaguars play the Jets in Week 15.
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) will undergo surgery for his torn Achilles. He suffered the injury in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He could face a nine-month recovery period which puts him up against the start of the 2026 season.
Footballguys view: The injury leaves the Colts in dire straits at the position. With backup Anthony Richardson Sr. on injured reserve with a facial fracture, rookie Riley Leonard replaced Jones in Jacksonville. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 145 yards and an interception. He ran for a score late. Jones is a pending free agent, though Indy wants him back. We'll be watching for more.

New Orleans Saints QB Tyler Shough completed 13 of his 20 passes for 144 yards and an interception and ran seven times for 55 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14.
Footballguys view: There were rookie mistakes, as Shough was sacked three times and had an interception after a miscommunication with WR Chris Olave. But with his second win. Shough is giving the Saints hope. In addition, his 21.3 fantasy points ranked sixth at his position through Sunday's late-afternoon games, and the running plays were impressive. Shough's 34-yard rushing touchdown was the longest by a non-Taysom Hill Saints QB in franchise history. Shough is also the first non-Hill Saints QB with multiple rushing TDs in a game since Drew Brees in 2018. The Saints play the Panthers in Week 15.
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (hand, shoulder) left the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos due to a right shoulder injury, as well as a cut to his right hand. Head coach Pete Carroll said Sunday, Dec. 7 that the shoulder 'locked up', but tests did not show any damage. He was 13-of-21 for 116 yards, one touchdown and four rushing yards before departing.
Footballguys view: Smith and the Raiders had managed 131 yards of offense before his exit. He was 13-for-21 for 116 yards and a touchdown but had not led a scoring drive since the end of the first quarter. Smith has faced heavy criticism this season as the Raiders built a 2-10 record under Carroll entering the game. The Raiders recently fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, and the NFL fined Smith for flipping off spectators after a recent loss. Kenny Pickett replaced Smith against the Broncos and would start against the Eagles in Week 15 if Smith isn't ready.

Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers caught eight of 11 targets for 124 yards in Week 14 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Footballguys view: Flowers was free on multiple plays and helped move the Ravens offense with Derrick Henry not finding big roles to create runways for big plays. He has been a wildly inconsistent boom/bust play in fantasy this season, but you have to put him against the Bengals next week in what should be a shootout.

Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell ran six times for 76 yards in Week 14 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Footballguys view: Mitchell's 55 yard run was crucial to rekindling the Ravens' hopes in this game, but he left with a knee injury soon after. The speedster was making an impact, so hopefully this will only be a minor injury and we will see him return soon, if not in Week 15 against Cincinnati.

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle registered five receptions for a team-best 50 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Week 14 against the New York Jets.
Footballguys view: Thankfully Waddle scored early in this game, because the Dolphins once again leaned on the running game in their fourth consecutive win. Consider him a high ceiling WR3/Flex next week against a Steelers secondary that lost track of Zay Flowers a few times in Week 14.

Miami Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright rushed 24 times for a career-high 107 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the New York Jets, and he did not have a reception on three targets in place of the injured RB De'Von Achane (rib).
Footballguys view: It sounds like Achane will be able to play next week, but Wright is still worth a pickup if bench size allows with the Dolphins running game clicking. He has supplanted Ollie Gordon as the backup and finally showed promise for dynasty teams that have been holding him.
Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson completed 19 of 35 for 219 yards with a touchdown passing, a touchdown rushing and an interception in Week 14 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jackson finished with 43 yards on seven carries.
Footballguys view: Jackson wasn't always that effective as a passer, but he was more useful as a runner this week, and only a late pass breakup by Joey Porter Jr. prevented a go-ahead touchdown to Isaiah Likely in the final minutes. The Steelers tend to give Jackson fits and he was still able to post his first strong fantasy performance in over a month, so you can feel confident plugging him back in against the Bengals next week.

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (rib) left the Week 14 against the New York Jets due to a rib injury, but head coach Mike McDaniel said Sunday, Dec. 7 that Achane was available to re-enter the game in the event of an emergency, but he never felt the need to risk it. McDaniel confirmed there was no fracture to the ribs. 'You worry about breaks. That takes time. Didn't see that, but he'll get treatment,' McDaniel said, 'He was available to go back in the game. I just decided not to put him in.'
Footballguys view: This is the good news you were looking for if you have Achane. Jaylen Wright is still worth a pickup in all leagues, but it sounds like you'll be able to play Achane next week at Pittsburgh in the first round of many fantasy playoff brackets.
Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid caught four passes for 41 yards and one touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. He was targeted five times during the game.
Footballguys view: Kincaid wasn't a big factor in the game, but the Bengals are so bad against tight ends that he still had a short score and a long gain to post a very good TE1 game for anyone who trusted him because of the matchup even though he was a game-time decision and only characterized as someone who was going to "try to play" this week by Schefter and Rapoport. Kincaid is a boom/bust TE1 against the Patriots next week. Hopefully he'll get in a full practice to boost confidence in him in fantasy circles.
