Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase caught six of his 10 targets for 110 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-24 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 5.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Chase and the offense got off to a slow start. The star wideout had only four catches on eight targets for 31 yards at halftime. That changed, as Chase took two second-half targets for 15 and 64-yard touchdowns. Although his weekly outlook is hurt by the subpar play of Jake Browning, Chase is capable of overcoming that and delivering high-end production any given Sunday. His next opportunity is against the Packers in Week 6. |

The Cincinnati Bengals continue to have 'unwavering' confidence in QB Jake Browning, according to head coach Zac Taylor, despite the Bengals' performance in a pair of blowout losses since he replaced injured QB Joe Burrow (toe) as the team's starting quarterback. The organization has also not engaged in trade talks with other teams for veteran quarterbacks such as Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins or New York Giants QBs Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, according to multiple sources.

Cincinnati Bengals DE Shemar Stewart (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 3, and has been ruled out for Week 5. WR Charlie Jones (Achilles) did not practice and is listed as questionable. TE Noah Fant (concussion), DT B.J. Hill (non-injury), CB Daxton Hill (knee) and C Matt Lee (ankle) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 3, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.
Footballguys view: We're worried about starting some of the Bengals' best players this week. Fant and Mike Gesicki split tight end duties when the two were healthy. He's off the fantasy radar even in the deepest leagues. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant (concussion) practiced on Thursday, Oct. 2.
Footballguys view: Fant missed Week 4 with this concussion but could be back this week. The Bengals need all the help they can get. Outside of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, we're not looking to the Bengals for much help on our fantasy teams. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase caught five passes (on eight targets) for 23 yards in a Week 4 loss to the Denver Broncos. It was his lowest yardage total since the final game of 2023 when the Bengals played Chase just long enough to reach 100 receptions on the season.
Footballguys view: The Bengals' offense packs zero punch without Joe Burrow, their offensive line can't protect Jake Browning, the running game isn't consistent or leaned on frequently enough to take any pressure off Browning, and their passing game has generally been reduced to taking sideline shots to Chase or Tee Higgins and hoping they win the 50-50 battles. On Monday night, even when they won those battles, penalties often negated them, another glaring issue with these Bengals, and the frustration is starting to show in expressions of players like Chase. His fantasy investors share that frustration. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant (concussion) did not participate in practice Saturday, Sept. 27, and has been ruled out for Week 4.
Footballguys view: Mike Gesicki is a viable desperation play with Fant out, although it's not clear that the Bengals offense will create any fantasy overachievers after their collapse against the Vikings last week. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant (concussion) missed practice on Friday, Sept. 26.
Footballguys view: Players must log a practice to complete concussion protocol, and Fant has been unable to do that this week. He'll likely be declared out later today. Mike Gesicki should see an increased workload. However, trusting a Jake Browning offense on the road against a stout Denver defense isn't easy. Gesicki only has appeal in leagues where you have to start multiple tight ends. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant (concussion) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.
Footballguys view: Fant is playing against the team that made him a first-round pick (Broncos) on Monday night, and they can't stop tight ends. We'll see if he can pass through the league protocol by Saturday. Mike Gesicki would get more work if Fant isn't out there splitting time with him. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Samaje Perine (thumb) may have a chance to play in Week 4 after an MRI on his injured thumb did not reveal any significant damage, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Footballguys view: Rapoport also said Perine is not yet ruled out for the team's Week 4 Monday Night Football contest against the Denver Broncos. That extra day of rest could be crucial in getting Perine healed enough to suit up. If not, the Bengals will be forced to elevate a running back from the practice squad or sign a free agent. Sixth-round rookie Tahj Brooks is the only other running back on the 53-man roster, and the Bengals can't go into a game with just two active running backs. |

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant (concussion) suffered a concussion in Week 3.
Footballguys view: The Bengals signed Fant on July 31. Fant's 14.7 percent target share through three games is tied with Tee Higgins for the second-highest on the team. With a Monday night game against the Broncos in Week 4, Fant will have an extra day to work his way through the NFL's concussion protocol. Mike Gesicki and Drew Sample move up in the rotation if Fant can't go. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki caught one pass for six yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He was targeted three times during the game.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins caught one pass for 15 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He was targeted two times during the game.
Footballguys view: It might not be this bad every week, but only poor tackling from the Jaguars kept Higgins from being a Week 2 bust, and this result will make you think twice before playing Higgins against the Broncos next week. You can't drop Higgins yet, with an easier part of the schedule coming up after a matchup with the Packers in Week 6, but he's probably riding your bench until then. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Drew Sample caught two passes for 20 yards and one touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He was targeted three times during the game.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Noah Fant caught five passes for 26 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He was targeted five times during the game.
Footballguys view: Fant also fumbled and left this game with a concussion. His short range routes to set up run after catch opportunities could be used more with Jake Browning and this offensive line's limitations, but Fant isn't a good pickup until he's back on the field. He'll have an extra day to clear concussion protocol with the Bengals facing the Broncos on Monday night. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase caught five passes for 50 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He was targeted six times during the game.
Footballguys view: Chase also lost a fumble in this one. After putting up a huge game in a stirring comeback win without Joe Burrow last week. Chase's value was deflated with the rest of the Bengals offense. He could see Patrick Surtain II a lot next week against Denver, but Chase has to stay in fantasy lineups. The sell high window has closed, so you're probably stuck with Chase if you took him early in your draft unless you want to sell him for .50 or less on the dollar. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown rushed for three yards on 10 carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He also caught four passes for 17 yards during the game.
Footballguys view: The Bengals just can't open holes for Brown, and defenses aren't playing with lighter boxes because Jake Browning doesn't threaten them the way Joe Burrow does. Things could get better when Cincinnati isn't facing defenses on the level of the Vikings, but right now Brown isn't an automatic start and might be in "leave him on the bench until he makes you regret it" territory in fantasy leagues. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Samaje Perine (thumb) rushed for 21 yards on four carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 before leaving the game because of a thumb injury.
Footballguys view: Perine went to the locker room before the rest of the team for halftime. The veteran running back, who fumbled on the Bengals' final offensive snap of the half, never returned. The Bengals will be on the road next week to face the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, so Perine will have an additional day of treatment. We'll watch for more on his progress. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Jake Browning went 19-for-27 for 140 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.
Footballguys view: Browning was a disaster this one, although we have to give an assist to a Vikings defense that isn't going to allow anything to be easy for opposing quarterbacks. The Bengals will travel to Denver next week for a Monday night game, so it might not be that much better for the Bengals offense and Browning in Week 3. After being a hot pickup in Week 2, Browning can probably be dropped in 1QB leagues this week. If he can survive the next three games, he could be a pickup again vs. a schedule that will get easier in late October. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (toe) is schedule to undergo a procedure to repair his Grade 3 turf toe at Birmingham's Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center, Friday, Sept. 19, sources say. It could be pushed back a few days if swelling is still present.
Footballguys view: There's a three month recovery time ahead of Burrow. If the Bengals are in the playoff hunt, Burrow could return in December. That's a big 'if' depending on their defense and the play of Jake Browning while Burrow it out. |

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (turf toe) will not be ruled out for the season, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Burrow's surgery to repair this toe injury has yet to happen, but it should be sometime here in the near future. When the Bengals get to the end of the regular season, Burrow could be ready for a return. However, if they're out of the playoff picture then there would be no need for him to play in mid-to-late December. Jake Browning is the starter for most of his year and we'll see how quickly Burrow can recover from surgery after a few months. |
