Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and other big-name players will play several series in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 7, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Remember, preseason issues have led to slow starts in past seasons. Last year, Ja'Marr Chase's contract sidelined him until opening week while Burrow was coming off season-ending surgery on his right wrist. In 2023, a strained calf kept Burrow on ice through August. The year before? An emergency appendectomy cost Burrow almost all of training camp, and he spent the 2021 preseason recovering from a torn ACL. As noted earlier this year, seeing Burrow and this offense get off to a faster start would be a boost for fantasy investors. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki will be joined by veteran TE Noah Fant, as the latter was signed Thursday, July 31.

Cincinnati Bengals C Seth McLaughlin (Achilles) has passed a physical and is clear to practice. The former Ohio State center and 2024 Rimington Trophy winner tore his Achilles' in November, ending his college career.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals RB Tahj Brooks has a chance to climb the depth chart following the release of veteran Zack Moss (neck) on Thursday, July 31.
Footballguys view: Brooks should have no problem outshining Samaje Perine in the preseason. He's a Matt Waldman favorite and potential three-down back. If Chase Brown goes down this year, Brooks is the name you need to know. He's worth drafting late in deep leagues that have thin waiver wires. |
Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Noah Fant (Seahawks) signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, July 31. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Kole Taylor was waived Thursday, July 31.
Link to storyFree-agent TE Noah Fant (Seahawks) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, July 31.
Footballguys view: The Seahawks let Fant go, and now he lands with a much more high-powered offense with the Bengals. Fant will compete for the no.2 tight end spot on the roster behind starter Mike Gesicki. He's not much of a blocker, but Fant can be relied on as a receiving weapon. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Andrei Iosivas has had a 'dazzling' camp, per ESPN's Ben Baby, who writes that Iosivas has had 'very strong reps' in 1-on-1 drills. QB Joe Burrow said that Iosivas has turned contested catches into 'a strength of his game,' and classified the receiver's development as 'exciting.'
Footballguys view: This has been a consistent drumbeat during the offseason. The Bengals have a superstar in Ja'Marr Chase and a star in Tee Higgins. Behind those two dangerous weapons, a guy like Iosivas is there to compete for targets with a guy like TE Mike Gesicki. Entering his third season, Iosivas has the look of a future starter (likely with another team). That makes him a dynasty stash or target. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Zack Moss was released Wednesday, July 30.
Footballguys view: Rookie Tahj Brooks has been having a great training camp, and he could be working his way into the mix. Brooks could essentially take the spot of Moss on the depth chart, providing size/power (and receiving ability) behind starting RB Chase Brown. |

Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson plans to report to training camp Wednesday, July 30, ending his holdout, source said, despite being no closer to a new deal.
Footballguys view: We'll see if this is truly a "hold-in", where Hendrickson will be with the team to avoid fines, or if Hendrickson is going to practice, indicating that he will play even if he doesn't get a new deal. His stock should be down a bit in IDP leagues for now because of the continuing uncertainty. |

Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick DE Shemar Stewart could play in the preseason opener Aug. 7, despite missing the early stages of camp in a contract dispute, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals first-round draft choice DE Shemar Stewart agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Bengals Friday, July 25, worth $18.97 million. The deal also includes a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: And with this, one of the more pointless holdouts in recent memory comes to an end. Stewart will report to camp in time to be an impact player on the defensive line this year, while Trey Hendrickson is still away seeking a new deal after the division rival Steelers reset the market with their TJ Watt extension. |
Free-agent TE Noah Fant (Seahawks) had a positive meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, July 24, but will explore other options, according to sources. The Bengals are expected to keep in touch with Fant.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow will likely play more preseason games, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
Footballguys view: Last year, Burrow attempted less than 10 passes in the preseason. This year, Burrow should play more in exhibition games to prevent a slow start in the regular season. |

Cincinnati Bengals RB Zack Moss (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, July 22.
Footballguys view: Moss, a sixth-year player, played in eight games with six starts for Cincinnati last season. He went on injured reserve with a neck injury on Nov. 5. Bengal OC Dan Pitcher said on Monday that Chase Brown will be one of the focal points of the Bengals offense this year. Even if Moss gets back in the fray, expecting him to cut into Brown's workload significantly seems like a reach. |

Bengals Offensive Coordinator Dan Pitcher said that RB Chase Brown will be one of the focal points of the Bengals offense this year.
Footballguys view: After splitting reps with Zack Moss to open last season, Brown dominated the workload once Moss went on injured reserve on Nov. 5. In Week 9, the first week without Moss, Brown got 100 percent of the running back touches for the Bengals. Until he missed the last game of the season, Brown was on the field at least 80 percent of the time and up to 98.5 percent. From Weeks 4 through 17 (he didn't play Week 18), Brown emerged as a league-winning asset as he posted RB6 numbers. He's currently being drafted as RB11. |

Cincinnati Bengals TE Erick All (knee) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 19.
Footballguys view: All is unlikely to play this season after tearing the ACL in his right knee for the second time. The 2024 fourth round pick was performing well as a rookie and on his way to becoming a starter in the future before suffering the injury. The Bengals re-signed Mike Gesicki to a three-year, $25.5 million deal in the offseason and he'll be the starter for the foreseeable future. |
Free-agent QB Desmond Ridder (Colts) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced Sunday, July 20. In a corresponding move, QB Logan Woodside was released.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals C Seth McLaughlin (undisclosed) was placed on the Non-football injury list, the team announced Saturday, July 19.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals first-round draft choice DE Shemar Stewart did not make any progress in contract talks with Bengals this week and is not report for training camp with the other rookies, according to a source.
Footballguys view: This is an ugly situation with no end in sight. Stewart is unhappy with the language in his contract, so a lengthy holdout is expected. |
The Cincinnati Bengals agreed to terms with second-round draft pick LB Demetrius Knight Jr. on a four-year contract Saturday, July 19, according to multiple sources. Although financial terms were not disclosed, nearly 80 percent of his deal will be fully guaranteed at signing.
Footballguys view: Knight is the type of player that can seek-and-destroy a play. He's capable of being a 'green dot' guy in the NFL, and Knight's a natural leader on the field. Knight needs to improve his coverage ability or else teams will pick on him one-on-one. |
Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick EDGE Shemar Stewart has been training on his own at Texas A&M preparing for the season. Stewart is the only unsigned first-round draft pick.
Footballguys view: This situation is an absolute disaster, and it seems to be only getting worse. Reports suggest Stewart could go back to college for another year and then declare for the 2026 NFL draft. The Bengals would receive no compensation if Stewart does not sign with them. All of this drama is due to language the Bengals don't have in terms of protection in participation that other teams have. It looks like this thing is far from over. Stay tuned. |
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow is attempting to become only the seventh quarterback since the merger to lead the league in touchdown passes in consecutive seasons. He would join Terry Bradshaw (1981-82), Dan Marino (1984-86), Jim Everett (1988-89), Steve Young (1992-94), Brett Favre (1995-97) and Drew Brees (2008-09 and 2011-12).
Footballguys view: Burrow has the talent to do that, and he's got one of the league's best group of pass-catching weapons around him. Add in the fact the Bengals defense should struggle, and that means the offense is going to have to put their foot on the gas. Burrow has a current ADP of QB4 and is going off the board in the third or fourth round in many drafts. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Jermaine Burton has 'rebounded nicely' this offseason, in the opinion of Bengals Wire's Chris Roling.
Footballguys view: ESPN.com's Ben Baby reports the same, noting that Burton showed up with a new look and approach to the pro game. "This offseason, Burton has made all the right moves," Baby wrote. "He was attentive and engaged throughout the spring workouts. He earned praise from every person who was asked about him." Baby also reminded readers that Burton has the tools to become a big-play option in special situations. We'll see if that strong offseason can carry over into training camp. |
