Chargers | Khalil Mack uncertain about his future    Sun Jan 12, 08:29 PM

Los Angeles Chargers impending free-agent LB Khalil Mack said Sunday, Jan. 12 that he is unsure about his football future. 'Man, it's a lot of different thoughts in my head right now,' Mack said. 'I can't really speak on a definitive decision in terms of what I'm going to do because I don't know if I'm going to play football moving forward, so there's some things I gotta talk through with my wife, spend some time with my kids and try not to make a rash decision after a (playoff) loss.'

Footballguys view: Mack passed Too Tall Jones, Elvis Dumervil, and Dexter Manley on the all-time sack leader list to move into the top 50 and certainly has been one of the best edge defenders of his era. Joey Bosa has a $12.36 million roster bonus due in March, so edge is going to be a top priority this offseason in the draft and free agency.

Patriots | Mike Vrabel agrees to terms    Sun Jan 12, 10:59 AM

Confirming a previous report, the New England Patriots agreed to terms with former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel on a multi-year deal Sunday, Jan. 12, to make him the team's next head coach, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: This one wasn't hard to see coming after Jared Mayo was fired. Vrabel had a great career with the Patriots and his teams mostly overachieved in Tennessee. For fantasy, we'll be very interested to see who Vrabel brings in as his offensive coordinator. Josh McDaniels' name has already come up, which would probably not a bad thing for Drake Maye.

Raiders | Mike Vrabel, Liam Coen likely of interest to Vegas    Wed Jan 8, 12:53 PM

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen are expected to be 'persons of interest' to replace Antonio Pierce as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Footballguys view: Tom Brady is going to be heavily involved in the search for a new head coach. In addition to finding a leader for the coaching staff, the Raiders must find a quarterback. It's all about 'fit' between head coach and quarterback, and the Raiders may only be able to get one of those properly installed this offseason.

Patriots | Patriots set Mike Vrabel interview    Wed Jan 8, 12:48 PM

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will interview with the New England Patriots for their head coach vacancy Thursday, Jan. 9.

Footballguys view: The Patriots fired Jerod Mayo after one year, and most think it's because they are going to get Vrabel. He's got a ton of interest from teams, so expect a bidding war for Vrabel's services. The former Titans head coach can rebuild a culture and win games regularly. The Patriots are an attractive landing spot for any head coaching candidate because of QB Drake Maye.

Bears | Mike Vrabel meeting with Bears Wednesday    Tue Jan 7, 09:19 AM

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will interview for the Chicago Bears head coaching vacancy Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Footballguys view: NFL Network's Ian Rappaport notes that the consensus has been that Vrabel will land the Patriots job. New England fired Jerod Mayo on Monday. But this will be his second interview with a different organization: First the Jets, now the Bears. Despite being defensive-minded, Vrabel is a highly regarded coach in the NFL, and his firing from Tennessee was a mild surprise. Most Bears fans may prefer an offensive-minded head coach to pair with ascending quarterback Caleb Williams, but SI.com contends if Vrabel ends up being the guy, it's hard to fault the Bears for that. He has head coaching experience and can be the kind of culture setter the players have openly demanded. The Bears also added one more interview to their docket late Monday. They requested an interview with David Shaw, the former head coach of Stanford and current executive for the Broncos. We'll continue watching.

Patriots | Jerod Mayo fired by New England    Sun Jan 5, 05:30 PM

New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo was fired following the Week 18 victory against the Buffalo Bills. Mayo ended up coaching the team to a 4-13 record in his first and only season at the helm.

Footballguys view: Mayo never seemed to be completely in control of big decisions, or at least he was too reactive and not consistent with his approach to big decisions week-to-week. This is probably the right move even with owners becoming more aware of the value of continuity and damage done when teams are making changes before a program can fully be implemented. Mike Vrabel should be a strong candidate for this job.
