Bills | James Cook wants to stay with team    Fri Jun 13, 04:13 PM

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook said he hopes to receive a contract extension and wants to remain with the team for a long time. General manager Brandon Beane said he has talked with Cook several times this week and expects Cook to report for training camp.

Footballguys view: Cook showed up for OTAs, so we don't have to worry about a holdout here. His low RB1 value was based in part on a high touchdown rate, but he is being drafted as an RB2 and the Bills offense is still likely to be one of the highest scoring units in the league. Cook is a safe pick at his current ADP.

Bills | Dalton Kincaid draws praise for offseason work    Fri Jun 13, 03:42 PM

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid was a standout performer in practice on Thursday, June 12, and has 'worked his tail off' during the offseason, according to general manager Brandon Beane.'He's been here the whole time. I felt like I ... probably was a little over-critical (of his performance in 2024). I wasn't trying to be, but felt like maybe I could have done a better job (of talking about his last season). He's been here, he's worked his tail off. He's one competitive dude,' Beane told WGR Sports Radio 550.

Bills | Maxwell Hairston sidelined with hamstring issue    Fri Jun 13, 02:56 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in practice on Wednesday, June 11, and did not practice on Thursday, June 12. According to general manager Brandon Beane, Hairston is receiving treatment on the injury and expected to be ready for the start of training camp next month.

Footballguys view: Hairston was presumably drafted to match with the speedy receivers the Bills will have to face in the playoffs. We'll be watching to see if he's ready for the open of camp and can stay healthy so he can suit up for the highly anticipated season opener against Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of the Baltimore Ravens.

Bills | Laviska Shenault sits out    Wed Jun 11, 02:19 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Wednesday, June 11.

Footballguys view: Shenault spent the 2024 season with Seattle, and one of his best moments of the season featured a 97-yard return for a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers. Shenault is a capable receiver and rusher as well. He has 1,587 receiving yards, 253 rushing yards, and seven total touchdowns in five seasons. But expecting him to earn a fantasy-relevant role in Buffalo seems like a reach.

Bills | Ty Johnson sits out drills    Wed Jun 11, 01:16 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Ty Johnson (undisclosed) was present for practice Tuesday, June 10, but did not participate in any drills.

Footballguys view: As SI.com recently reminded readers, the Bills used Johnson as a scheme player in some matchups last season, leading to some big plays and touchdowns. He beat the Lions with five catches for 114 yards in Week 5 while also surprising in two other matchups (46 combined yards with a touchdown and three catches and 70 combined yards with a score and two catches). But in his other 17 games, Johnson had 283 yards with two touchdowns and 12 catches. That inconsistent week-to-week output limits his fantasy relevance.

Bills | James Cook in the building    Tue Jun 10, 10:16 AM

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook is attending minicamp Tuesday, June 10, but it's unclear if he'll participate as he seeks a new contract.

Footballguys view: Cook did not attend the team's voluntary portion of the offseason program. But the fact that he's in attendance for minicamp could be a positive sign of negotiations, even if Cook doesn't do much on the field. A second-round pick in 2022, Cook is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He has rushed for 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons and led the league with 16 rushing TDs in 2024. Cook's RB14 Average Draft Position and the associated late-third-round price aren't far off his RB11 finish last season.

Bills | Teammate talks up Elijah Moore    Mon Jun 9, 01:41 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Elijah Moore is 'going to be a big-time player for us,' according to teammate Tre'Davious White.'He's gonna be a big-time player for us. Route running is amazing, getting in and out, his breaks (are) amazing,' White told Bills Digest.

Footballguys view: Moore, who signed a one-year deal with Buffalo, caught a career-high 61 passes for 538 yards and one touchdown last season for the Cleveland Browns. Currently being drafted as WR107, Moore is the definition of a free-square play and it will take more than hyperbolic language from teammates to change that.

Bills | Dalton Kincaid played through two knee injuries    Sun Jun 8, 09:55 AM

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (knees) played through injuries to both knees during the 2024 season. He dealt with a posterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee and a Morel-Lavallee lesion, which resulted in bursitis, in his right knee.

Footballguys view: Kincaid missed time last year after initially suffering at least one of the injuries in Week 10. His performance did drop off after the injury and in the playoffs, but he was only TE16 in PPR leagues before Week 10. Kincaid is currently TE14 in our Footballguys consensus ADP, so it doesn't seem like the fantasy football hive mind is buying into a breakout year for him.

Bills | James Cook, Buffalo at stalemate    Sat Jun 7, 03:13 PM

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook is at a stalemate with the team in terms of a new contract, and it's unclear whether he will be present at mandatory minicamp, according to sources Saturday, June 7.

Footballguys view: Next week, we'll all be checking the attendance in Buffalo to see if Cook shows up for mandatory work. Cook can be fined over $100,000 if he does not report for mandatory minicamp. Deals get done at deadlines, and we feel something does get done before the start of the regular season. Right now, things may seem dire but it can all be smoothed over with a new contract that is mutually beneficial. Cook said a few months ago that he wants $15 million per year, but he's on the books to make $5.7 million in 2024. Stay tuned.

Bills | OC happy about Joshua Palmer addition    Sat Jun 7, 10:59 AM

Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady said he is excited that the team signed WR Joshua Palmer this offseason because of his intelligence and ability to play both outside receiver and in the slot.

Footballguys view: Palmer should be an outside threat for the Bills, and that means downfield targets from QB Josh Allen. He is basically a replacement for Mack Hollins in Brady's offense. Palmer is a player who won't get drafted, but keep him on your waiver wire speed dial because if he hits then there's 'what the heck flex' appeal in this system.

Bills | James Cook misses another workout    Wed Jun 4, 03:21 PM

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook was not present for the offseason workout Tuesday, June 3.

Footballguys view: Cook has made his desire for a new contract clear, but the Bills don't appear to have budged, even after his second straight 1,000-yard season, in which he averaged nearly five yards per carry and rushed for a league-high 16 touchdowns. So, Cook is staying away from voluntary OTAs. His absence will continue to draw attention, but at this point, there's no reason to believe Cook won't be on the field for the regular season.

Bills | James Cook Not In Attendance For Start Of OTAs    Tue May 27, 12:12 PM

Almost the entire Buffalo Bills roster is accounted for as the team begins organized team activities but running back James Cook is not in attendance, coach Sean McDermott said Tuesday.

Footballguys view: Cook is coming off his best year, finishing with a franchise record-tying 16 rushing touchdowns after scoring two in each of his first two seasons. Cook has publicly shared his desire for a new contract, including going live on Instagram and pinning "15 mill [per] year." General manager Brandon Beane has reiterated that Cook will be ready to go for the season, but the GM has also made it clear the Bills aren't ready to give Cook the deal he wants. The Bills will hold a mandatory minicamp from June 10-12. Cook will be subject to fines if he misses those sessions.

Bills | Joey Bosa injured    Tue May 27, 11:40 AM

Buffalo Bills EDGE Joey Bosa (calf) suffered a calf injury last week and will miss spring workouts. The hope is he'll be ready by training camp.

Footballguys view: Injuries were a concern when Bosa signed a one-year deal with the Bills this spring. The pass rusher, who will turn 30 in July, has dealt with multiple injuries in the last couple years. Over the last three seasons he has played in 28 of 51 games. We'll be watching for more.

Bills | Tre'Davious White contract details    Fri May 23, 01:47 PM

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills CB Tre'Davious White signed a one-year contract in April that could max out at $6.8 million. However, the deal will pay him a base salary of $1.56 million, a signing bonus of $1 million and guarantee him $2.2 million at signing along with some incentives and workout bonuses. All told, he will count only $2.88 million against the salary cap in 2025.

Bills | Elijah Moore excited about opportunity    Sat May 17, 04:03 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Elijah Moore said he is excited to play with QB Josh Allen because he has not played with a stable quarterback for most of his career.

Footballguys view: A second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft for the Jets, Moore was traded to the Browns in 2023. During his four pro seasons with those two teams, Moore has played with 10 different starting quarterbacks - so it's a huge chance for him to impress with one of the league's best now that he's with the Bills. Moore has stated he would be interested in returning kicks this year too as he tries to win a spot on the 53-man roster in Buffalo. He's competing for the no.3 spot on the depth chart behind Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir.

Bills | BUF signs six picks    Fri May 9, 11:36 AM

Footballguys view: Hawes is a player we will monitor in deep dynasty formats. A former high school linebacker, Hawes was mostly a blocker in college at Yale. He needs to develop as a route runner and we'll see if the Bills want to use him as more than a blocker. Prawther is an outside receiver with good ball skills, but he's not afraid to mix things up in the middle of the field.

Bills | Starting spot up for grabs opposite Taylor Rapp    Tue May 6, 02:10 AM

Buffalo Bills DBs Cole Bishop and Damar Hamlin will likely compete for the starting safety spot opposite S Taylor Rapp, according to The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, with Bishop, a second-round pick last year, having the 'inside track' on the job over Hamlin, who was re-signed to a one-year deal back in March.

Bills | Laviska Shenault Jr. still in the mix    Tue May 6, 01:48 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Laviska Shenault Jr., who signed with the club early in the offseason, 'can't be counted out' for a spot on the 53-man roster, in the opinion of The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, who notes that the team liked him when he was entering the NFL draft and believe he could be an option as the team's kick returner. He could push fellow newcomer WR Elijah Moore for WR5 or could stick if the team elects to carry six receivers.

Footballguys view: Though Shenault didn't carve out a significant role at receiver during his time as a Panther, Carolina's then-special teams coordinator, Chris Tabor, saw an opportunity for Shenault to become a special teams weapon with the ball in his hands. Ultimately, it was just nine total kickoff returns, but they allowed Shenault to reinvent himself -- to become a valuable asset for teams prioritizing special teams play. Tabor is now with the Bills, having joined the team this offseason. Shenault said that Tabor played a huge role in his signing a one-year contract to play with Buffalo. Fantasy managers should expect special teams to be Shenault's primary focus.

Bills | Elijah Moore likely to stick in Buffalo    Tue May 6, 01:23 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Elijah Moore is likely to have the 'inside track' for a spot on the 53-man roster, per The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, though he notes there figures to be competition for the fifth receiver spot. He considers WRs Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, and newly signed WR Joshua Palmer to be entrenched as the top four.

Footballguys view: Moore can play multiple receiver spots, which could help him carve out a possible role in a group that includes Laviska Shenault Jr. The Bills also picked Kaden Prather out of Maryland in the seventh round Saturday, their only selection at wide receiver in the draft. Josh Allen has proven he can put up points despite not having a star-studded wideout room. Moore should have every chance to carve out a role in this offseason. We'll watch for more on that as the season draws nearer.

Bills | Two veterans to compete behind Josh Allen    Tue May 6, 01:13 AM

Buffalo Bills QBs Mitchell Trubisky and Mike White are likely competing for one roster spot, in the opinion of The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, who notes that the team is unlikely to utilize more than two spots on the 53-man roster for quarterbacks. Both players are set to become free agents following the 2025 season, so there's no contractual element to the competition.

Bills | Elijah Moore officially in the fold    Mon May 5, 01:03 PM

Free-agent WR Elijah Moore (Browns) officially signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Monday, May 5. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: Moore also met with the media to discuss why he came to Buffalo. The list of reasons started with the player charged with getting him the ball this fall. Moore said quarterback Josh Allen's presence made it "very, very easy" to decide on the Bills as his next team. Moore also cited his fit with the offense when discussing what appealed to him about the Bills. Moore said he was looking for a club where his "talent isn't really there" and that he found it with the Bills. We'll watch in the coming weeks as the veteran wideout tries to carve out a role in Buffalo.

Bills | Elijah Moore agrees to deal    Wed Apr 30, 05:30 PM

Free-agent WR Elijah Moore (Browns) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday, April 30, worth as much as $5 million, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Moore, 25, caught a career-high 61 passes for 538 yards and one touchdown last season for the Cleveland Browns. Moore can play multiple receiver spots and joins a group in Buffalo that includes Joshua Palmer and Laviska Shenault Jr., who were added in free agency; 2024 second-round pick Keon Coleman; Khalil Shakir, who was signed to a four-year contract extension this offseason; and last year's free agent addition, Curtis Samuel. he Bills also picked Kaden Prather out of Maryland in the seventh round Saturday, their only selection at wide receiver in the draft. A second-round pick (No. 34) of the Jets in the 2021 NFL draft, Moore has caught 200 passes for 2,162 yards and nine touchdowns. He'll have a battle to be a fantasy-relevant asset, but Buffalo's offense is potent enough to make it worth watching for more.
