Bills | Matt Prater might practice more this week Tue Jan 13, 12:40 AM
Buffalo Bills PK Matt Prater (quadriceps) 'is in a good spot', head coach Sean McDermott said Monday, Jan. 12, as he recovers from a quadriceps injury. Prater is expected to practice somewhat similar to last week, though he might increase reps a little more this week.
Footballguys view: Prater was limited to field goals and extra point attempts in the AFC Wild Card game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Punter Mitch Wishnowsky handled kickoffs. We'll be watching for more.

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (undisclosed) was wearing a walking boot after the Wild Card playoff game, but head coach Sean McDermott said Kincaid should be fine for the Divisional Round game.
Footballguys view: Great news considering the potential outcomes. The tight end has missed five regular-season contests in total due to various injuries, including to his oblique and hamstring. Still, Kincaid has remained as one of the Bills' top targets in the passing game, finishing the regular season second on the team in yards receiving (571) and first in touchdowns receiving with five. During Buffalo's win over the Jaguars in the Wild Card Round, he recorded three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown. We'll see if he's ready with a short turnaround to a Saturday game in Denver.

Buffalo Bills WR Tyrell Shavers (knee) is being evaluated after injuring his knee during the Wild Card playoff game, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
Footballguys view: Shavers got hurt while returning a punt in the second quarter. He stayed down on the field after the play and was clearly in pain, but he was able to return to action. The 26-year-old wide receiver has appeared in every game for the Bills since the start of the regular season. We'll see if he can keep that streak going on a short week, with the Bills playing in Denver on Saturday.
Buffalo Bills S Jordan Poyer (hamstring) is considered week-to-week because of the hamstring injury he suffered during the Wild Card playoff game and is not expected to be available for the Divisional Round playoff game, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

Bills HC Sean McDermott told reporters that WR Gabe Davis suffered a torn ACL vs. the Jaguars.
Footballguys view: With Davis out, Keon Coleman and Tyrell Shavers could be asked to play greater roles against the Broncos on Saturday. Remember, the Bills were without RB Ty Johnson (ankle) in Jacksonville, and the team placed wide receiver Joshua Palmer on IR last week. In addition, CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson reported that Shavers (knee) got banged up. None of this is great news for a team playing on a short week.

Buffalo Bills WR Gabe Davis (knee) will have an MRI Monday, Jan. 12. His knee was so swollen that an initial diagnosis was difficult.
Footballguys view: We'll be watching for more on Davis after the MRI. But even if it's not a season-ending injury, it'd be nearly impossible to imagine the six-year pro making a return in time for the AFC Divisional Round, as the Bills are set to play the Broncos in just five days in Denver.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen went 28-for-35 for 273 yards and one touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card playoff game and also rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries during the game. RB James Cook rushed for 46 yards on 15 carries and also caught two passes for five yards. WR Khalil Shakir caught 12 passes for 82 yards on 12 targets. WR Brandin Cooks caught three passes for 58 yards on five targets, while WR Keon Coleman caught one pass for 36 yards on one target. TE Dawson Knox caught three passes for 30 yards on three targets, while TE Dalton Kincaid caught three passes for 28 yards and one touchdown on five targets. LB Shaq Thompson recorded six solo tackles, eight total tackles and one interception during the game.
Footballguys view: Allen was his typical superhero self in the postseason despite two trips to the medical tent. His decision making was cold-blooded and he created many of the best plays for the Bills pass offense with creativity and toughness. The Jaguars defense didn't have many lapses, but Allen had the look of a quarterback who is not going to be stopped on potential game-winning drives. The Jaguars excellent run defense predictably bottled up Cook, but he could have a big game against Denver next week. Shakir was "what the defense gave" Allen on many dropbacks, and he converted a few first downs with grit and guile. The team lost Gabe Davis to an injury during the game, but that didn't stop Allen from carrying them to victory. This might have been the toughest opponent they will face on the AFC side of the bracket.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (foot) has been dealing with an aggravation of an old bone injury on the side of his foot for most of the second half of this season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. However, the injury is reportedly as good as it's been in quite some time. For Allen, it is a matter of pain tolerance and he is not at risk of sustaining further injury.

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid led the team with five touchdown receptions and 13 receptions of 20-plus yards despite missing five games during the regular season.
Footballguys view: The Bills don't have an alpha no.1 receiver but they do have a playmaker at tight end in Kincaid. They'll pound the rock against the Jaguars on Sunday, but when they need to go through the air we're sure Josh Allen will be looking for the veteran tight end.

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook faces the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round, and the Jaguars allowed a league-low 85.6 rushing yards per game in the regular season.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars might be the toughest team in the playoff bracket on either the AFC or NFC side. The Bills have their work cut out for them, and Cook is going to be the centerpiece of what they do. We'll see if Cook (and Josh Allen as a runner) can break the Jacksonville rush defense.

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (knee) practiced in full on Friday, Jan. 9, and no longer appears on the injury report.
Footballguys view: Kincaid was limited every day this week, making his outlook for Sunday a bit murky. When healthy, Kincaid has proven to be a dominant wide receiver. When nursing an injury, though, he often comes up short.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (foot) practiced in full all week and no longer appears on the injury report.
Footballguys view: Allen will have a tough matchup against the Jaguars, but he's arguably the most valuable quarterback to start in Wild Card Weekend. He's been a bit limited with this foot injury over the last couple of weeks, but his ceiling is undeniable.

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (knee) was limited in practice on Thursday, Jan. 8.
Footballguys view: Limited may be all we can get from Kincaid as he continues to deal with this knee injury. You can move the ball regularly against the Jaguars with a tight end, so Kincaid could have a big game if he's able to play on Sunday.

Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid (knee) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The Bills held a walk-through on Wednesday, so the report is an estimation.
Footballguys view: The Bills need all hands on deck against the Jaguars in the Wild Card Round. Tight ends thrive against the Jaguars, so having Kincaid (and Dawson Knox) gives the Bills an advantage others don't have.

The Bills have signed K Matthew Wright to their practice squad.
Footballguys view: The team's regular PK, Matt Prater, is considered day-to-day because of his quadriceps injury, according to head coach Sean McDermott. McDermott said the team planned to try out kickers this week. Wright gets the nod. Wright is on his fourth team this season, having also kicked for the Titans, Commanders, and Texans. He's 5-for-5 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points this year.
