Bills | Mecole Hardman on the bubble    Tue Aug 25, 12:17 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Mecole Hardman is currently projected to make the team's 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg, but she adds that the team could change course if they feel someone else, such as kick returner RB Ray Davis, can handle the punt return duties that currently belong to Hardman.

Bills | Skyler Bell back on field    Mon Aug 24, 03:24 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Skyler Bell (groin) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 24, after missing some time because of a groin injury.

Footballguys view: Bell has yet to play in a preseason game, missing both of the first two contests. He told reporters after practice that it was a groin injury he was dealing with, but felt "like a kid in a candy store" getting back on the field, especially because he said he had never missed that much time before playing football. The rookie has work to do after missing so much time. We'll see if he can gain ground in coming days.

Footballguys view: Bills HC Joe Brady did not elaborate on the injury. It could be something minor, but this is something to keep an eye on throughout the rest of the preseason. Shakir is going off the board around WR52 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bills | Keon Coleman has a sprained toe/foot    Tue Aug 18, 01:16 PM

Bills WR Keon Coleman has been diagnosed with a sprained foot/toe suffered in the preseason opener, a source told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.

Footballguys view: Coleman, who was seen in a walking boot today, will miss practice time, but head coach Joe Brady indicated he didn't have much concern. It's been a strong spring/summer for Coleman, who scored a TD Saturday. While he's clearly in a better spot than he's been in past seasons, Coleman has a way to go before being considered draft-worthy in most leagues.

Bills | Keon Coleman in a boot    Tue Aug 18, 10:44 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Keon Coleman (foot) is in a walking boot Tuesday, Aug. 18, after suffering a lower-body injury over the weekend.

Footballguys view: Coleman played in the Bills' preseason opener, catching three passes on four targets for 17 yards. While he got banged up during the game, head coach Joe Brady said that he expected the receiver to be fine. Several receivers aren't practicing on Tuesday, with Khalil Shakir also sidelined. But DJ Moore is participating in the session. We'll monitor Coleman and Shakir and report back as needed.

Bills | Josh Allen shines Saturday    Sun Aug 16, 04:26 PM

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen completed six of his eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Saturday, Aug. 15.

Footballguys view: If those numbers seem a bit aggressive for a preseason opener, you're not wrong. Allen came out and hooked up with new #1 receiver DJ Moore three times right away for 61 yards. Moore did get a little banged up, but Allen said that finding Moore early and often will be the plan every week (!), so don't let the injuries Moore and Keon Coleman (who caught Allen's touchdown on an extended play) dampen enthusiasm about this offense as a whole after it appears that it will be opened up under new head coach Joe Brady.

Bills | Two Buffalo receivers banged up on Saturday    Sun Aug 16, 04:26 PM

Buffalo Bills WRs DJ Moore (ankle) and Keon Coleman (lower body) were both tended to on the sideline, according to a source on Saturday, Aug. 15. Trainers attended to Moore's ankle area after the second drive, but he stood on sidelines for the rest of the game. Coleman was tackled on third offensive drive after his last catch favored the lower body.

Footballguys view: The injury mechanism for Moore looked like it could have been a high ankle sprain, but head coach Joe Brady said that Moore was "good to go" after the game. We'll wait to see his practice participation this week before closing the book on this injury scare. Coleman's injury is more mysterious, and maybe a bigger concern. Brady said he was okay after the game, but Coleman was wearing a walking boot while walking his dog in an instagram post made after the game. Coleman scored the first touchdown in the Bills new stadium and appeared to be gaining some momentum before the injury.

Bills | Josh Allen will play in preseason opener    Thu Aug 13, 10:47 AM

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will play in the preseason opener Saturday, Aug. 15, after head coach Joe Brady said everyone healthy will play Saturday.

Footballguys view: Some teams don't play their starters much if at all in the preseason, and certainly some don't play starting quarterbacks in the preseason opener. Allen is going to be out there, likely briefly, and we're excited about what he can do with new HC Joe Brady running the show.

Bills | Skyler Bell might struggle to routinely play    Mon Aug 10, 12:55 AM

Buffalo Bills WR Skyler Bell has shown good separation skills and releases at the line during scrimmages. However, Bell's ball skills have held him back, and he appears to be behind the top four WRs DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer at this point.

Footballguys view: While Bell is expected to be a roster lock, his game-day role is expected to be determined by how he finishes through the team's three preseason games. Especially if the Bills keep Mecole Hardman as a sixth receiver and their primary punt returner, the Athletic's Joe Buscaglia contends it wouldn't be stunning if Bell begins the regular season as a healthy scratch.

Bills | O'Cyrus Torrence lands big deal    Fri Aug 7, 09:40 AM

Buffalo Bills OG O'Cyrus Torrence agreed to a four-year, $78.4 million extension Friday, Aug. 7. The deal includes $46 million guaranteed, and he becomes the seventh highest-paid guard in the NFL.

Footballguys view: Torrence was a second-round pick in 2023 for the Bills and he has been everything the team hoped he would be. Their other starting guard from 2025, David Edwards, was signed to a big contract by the Saints this offseason. Alec Anderson and Austin Corbett are competing to replace Edwards at left guard, the only spot on the line that will have turnover from the 2025 lineup.

Bills | RBs more involved in passing game    Sun Aug 2, 01:34 PM

Buffalo Bills RBs James Cook, Ty Johnson and Ray Davis have been noticeably more involved in the passing game during the early part of training camp, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Alaina Getzenberg.

Footballguys view: We have heard a steady drumbeat about James Cook being more involved as a receiver this year after the team hired Pete Carmichael as offensive coordinator. Carmichael was one of the architects of Alvin Kamara's big seasons as a receiving running back in New Orleans. Cook has proven that he can put up RB1 numbers on the strength of his touchdown upside in 2024, and his rushing title winning productivity as a runner last year. We still haven't seen what he can with more work in the passing game, and Cook was drafted by the Bills in the 2022 second round in part because of his receiving skills. It's reasonable to take him in the second half of the first round, and maybe even ahead of Jonathan Taylor.

Bills | Skyler Bell could earn early role    Wed Jul 15, 04:09 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Skyler Bell has a chance to move in front of WR Joshua Palmer and WR Keon Coleman on the depth chart if he has a strong preseason, in the opinion of BillsWire's Justin DiLoro.

Footballguys view: It's easy to speculate about Day 3 rookies climbing the depth chart during the slow part of the offseason. More often than not, however, those hype trains derail once camp opens. Bell is a good receiver, cut from the same cloth as DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir. He's a dynamic mover who is aggressive at the catch point and with the ball in his hands. Coleman and Palmer have both been disappointing in Buffalo, which could make Bell worth a look in deep leagues. He's a name to know and watch in training camp, but there are probably better bets to make in the final rounds of fantasy drafts until he starts getting legitimate buzz when pads are on.

Bills | Keon Coleman isn't worried about his critics    Wed Jul 15, 02:10 PM

Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman is well aware that he's been the subject of much criticism from fans and the media. Coleman was even the subject of some offseason debate about whether ex-coach Sean McDermott deserved blame for wanting to draft him. But Coleman says the criticism doesn't matter to him, because it doesn't come from anyone who's on the field with him. "None of them is going to come lace them up and try to stand in front of me," Coleman said. "People are going to say what they want to say. At the end of the day, my job is to come out here, put my cleats on, strap them up, and prove my worth here."

Footballguys view: As Profootballtalk.com notes, through two seasons, Coleman's production -- 67 catches for 960 yards and eight touchdowns -- hasn't been what the Bills were hoping for when they selected him with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Coleman sees that changing this year. Fantasy investors aren't as sure. Coleman's current ADP, WR89, has him going outside Round 20.

Bills | Maxwell Hairston looking for bounce back    Sun Jul 12, 02:23 PM

Buffalo Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (knee) missed six games due to a knee injury coming out of training camp in his rookie season in 2025. He played 11 regular-season games, rotating with CB Tre'Davious White, posting two interceptions and 18 tackles with five passes defensed. 'I can't wait to see him on the field when the fall hits and camp hits and getting into the season,' cornerbacks coach Jay Valai said. 'You talk about somebody with tremendous upside and a high level of want-to. He's very intentional with everything he does. A lot of people have intent, but he's intentional at the doing aspect of it.'

Bills | Brandin Cooks hopes to return    Thu Jul 9, 04:07 PM

Free-agent WR Brandin Cooks (Bills) said he wants to re-sign with the Buffalo Bills.

Footballguys view: Cooks was largely a non-factor last year with Buffalo, and his lack of involvement was probably a motivator to trade for DJ Moore. He understandably wants to return. But going into what would be his age-33 season, Cooks' days as an NFL receiver may be behind him.

Bills | Tyrell Shavers a PUP candidate    Wed Jul 8, 02:16 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Tyrell Shavers (knee) is a candidate to start the regular season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of Syracuse.com's Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot.

Footballguys view: Shavers tore his ACL during the team's Wild Card victory against the Jaguars and could be heading for a redshirt season. In 2025, Shavers stepped into a larger role with the Bills after making the team's 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He appeared in all 17 games during the regular season, recording 23 catches for 245 yards and a touchdown.

Bills | Ray Davis worth keeping an eye on    Tue Jul 7, 02:43 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Ray Davis is 'an excellent backup' to James Cook III, according to ESPN's Aaron Schatz.

Footballguys view: While Cook deservedly gets the accolades, Schatz notes that Davis averaged 4.7 yards per carry and 8.6 yards per reception with two receiving touchdowns in his reserve role last year. He was also one of the top kick returners in the NFL. Davis is being drafted as RB64 in the 17th round. That's a great price for an insurance policy.

Bills | Keon Coleman putting in extra work ahead of make-or-break season    Tue Jul 7, 12:53 PM

Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman believes he's facing a "make or break" 2026 season, and his preparation for it has included work with former Bills star Stevie Johnson.

Footballguys view: Johnson reached out to Coleman after the end of a disappointing 2025 season. The 2024 second-round pick was benched at times for disciplinary reasons, and owner Terry Pegula noted his failure to develop after Sean McDermott's firing. Johnson said that Coleman has been "the opposite" of what he expected before meeting him and called the wideout "a masterful student" who is working on being more professional and on how to give Josh Allen exactly what he needs on a weekly basis. The Bills have expressed confidence in Coleman, and the team's offense would welcome that bet paying off.

Bills | James Cook could see more passing game looks    Tue Jun 30, 11:35 AM

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook could become a bigger part of the passing game with new offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, in the opinion of beat writer Matt Parrino.

Footballguys view: Parrino noted that Carmichael's time in New Orleans, working under Sean Payton, offers a clue: In his first five seasons as a pro, Alvin Kamara had the most receptions by a running back in any five-year span in NFL history. "I think one part of the evolution of this offense with Carmichael here now is getting Cook more involved in the passing game," Parrino said. Cook caught 44 passes in 2023, and Parrino believes that's a realistic total this year. Cook is being drafted as RB5 with the ninth pick overall. This news further solidifies that value.
