Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride hauled in six of his team-high nine targets for 61 yards in Week 1 versus the New Orleans Saints.
Link to storyArizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. hauled in five of his six targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Harrison was the target by design on his second and goal score, and he was able to get free deep to reel in a long ball with excellent touch from Kyler Murray. It was a promising game if you were looking for the Cardinals to erase the disappointing lack of chemistry between Murray and Harrison last year. |
Arizona Cardinals RB Trey Benson rushed for 69 yards on eight carries and caught his only target for six more yards in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.
Link to storyArizona Cardinals RB James Conner carried 12 times for 39 yards and caught all four of his targets for five yards and a touchdown in Week 1 versus the New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Conner scored on a shovel pass to bail out what could have been a fantasy disaster despite a somewhat ideal play with the lead game script for the Cardinals. The running game never got on track with Conner, and Trey Benson was the finisher after he recorded the longest run of the day. This isn't quite a running back by committee backfield, but Benson's role will definitely be a limiting factor for Benson's ceiling going forward. We should still be optimistic about Conner next week against the Panthers defense that Travis Etienne lit up today. |

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray finished 21-of-29 for 163 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. Murray also rushed seven times for 38 yards.
Footballguys view: It wasn't a week-tilting matchup in fantasy leagues, but Murray looked sharp throwing downfield to Marvin Harrison Jr. and he had the juice as a runner that we hope to see week in, week out after a down couple of rushing production years for him. The Cardinals were leading comfortably for a lot of this game, so Murray will have a higher ceiling against better offenses. The Panthers are Arizona's opponent next week, and they didn't look any better than the Saints in Week 1. |

Link to storyFree-agent WR Andre Baccellia, RB Michael Carter, TE Josiah Deguara, WR Simi Fehoko and WR Tejhaun Palmer were signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Footballguys view: We still, perhaps foolishly, have interest in Carter but only in crazy deep dynasty. He's got a three-down skill set and can make plays as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield. The former fourth-round pick (Jets) in 2021 will now wait for an opportunity. |
