Cardinals | LaFleur: good dialogue ongoing with Jacoby Brissett Tue May 12, 09:58 AM

Jacoby Brissett has not been taking part in the team's offseason workouts as he looks for an adjustment to his current contract. Coach Mike LaFleur was asked about where things stand regarding conversations that would lead to Brissett joining the team. "Ongoing. Everything's good from a dialogue standpoint," LaFleur said. "Like we said, this is voluntary. So that's where we'll leave it."

Footballguys view: LaFleur was also asked if he felt "behind the 8-ball" because Brissett is missing time in a new offense. "He's played a lot of football," LaFleur said. "We're in communication; he knows what the expectation is." All signs point to a new deal getting done and Brissett, who was QB6 in 12 games as the starter last year, opening the season in that same role. But the Cardinals also went 1-11 in Brissett's starts. Meanwhile, Carson Beck and Gardner Minshew will be getting more work as long as Brissett is away from the team. We'll continue to monitor the situation.

Footballguys view: Love has playmaker tendencies, and he's a player that can score from anywhere on the field. It's a crowded backfield in Arizona with Tyler Allgeier, James Conner, and Trey Benson, so projected Love's fantasy production in 2026 is somewhat complicated. With the right role, Love could be the Cardinals' version of Jahmyr Gibbs. Will that role materialize this year? That's yet to be determined.

Footballguys view: The Steelers' recent decision to apply the unrestricted free agency tender to Rodgers has sparked speculation as to whether Rodgers may be thinking about signing with another team. That speculation has centered on the Cardinals. But Josh Weinfuss of ESPN asked "a source" if the talk "was real." The response was this: "Not at all." As PFT noted, despite the links to LaFleur and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, the Cardinals face a stiff challenge in 2026 -- one that would make it difficult for Rodgers to cap his career with a playoff berth.

Cardinals | Carson Beck could sit and learn Sun May 3, 04:30 PM

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Beck might take a backseat in his rookie season, sitting and learning. Head coach Mike LaFleur said Sunday, May 3, that 'it won't be the worst thing for him' if Beck ends up sitting for part or all of his rookie season. 'It benefits anyone in any position to be able to sit back,' LaFleur said. 'Sometimes, guys don't have the choice because you have to put your best 22 out on the field there.'

Footballguys view: The Cardinals see a lot to like in Beck. He's run pro-style schemes throughout college. His arm strength, accuracy, and toughness are all evident on tape. He's 6-4 and 220 pounds. But ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss reports Beck's intangibles were a factor, too. Specifically, he has a level of experience that caught Arizona's attention. In addition to starting 43 games throughout his career, Beck played six years of college football. Although he's behind veterans Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew, Footballguy Sigmund Bloom believes Beck could get a chance to start by the end of the year.

Footballguys view: Beck has six years of college experience, with most of his time spent at Georgia. He finished his college career at Miami, and Beck has played some good football over the last few years. He'll get to learn and develop in a Cardinals' QB room that has Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew on the roster.

Footballguys view: The arrival of Jeremiyah Love, the third pick overall in last week's draft, puts Allgeier in familiar territory. He spent the past three years playing behind Bijan Robinson in Atlanta. Barring injury issues for Love, Allgeier has almost no path to a front-line fantasy role this season. All that said, Allgeier did benefit from a goal-line role in Atlanta. He scored a career-high eight touchdowns last season. We may see a similar role if the Cardinals find themselves near the goal line this fall. For now, Allgeier is RB48 on the Footballguys projections. Love opens as RB10.

Footballguys view: According to the Footballguys 2026 Rookie Draft Guide, Wallace is an experienced receiver best suited to a supporting role in the intermediate and deep areas of the field. He has performed in big moments and shown a willingness to work over the middle of the field. But Wallace is best suited for a supporting role down an NFL depth chart.
