Jaguars | Brian Thomas Jr. fine after injury scare    Wed Jun 11, 11:58 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. (shoulder) left practice early Wednesday, June 11, after landing hard on his shoulder. Head coach Liam Coen said it was precautionary, and Thomas could have gone back in.

Footballguys view: Thomas Jr. took a hard fall during team drills after a collision with Tyson Campbell. Though he went off the field with trainers and went inside the team facility, he was back on the field with his helmet later in the session -- though he did not go back in. Thomas is set to be a primary weapon for Jacksonville's offense in 2025. He caught 87 passes for 1,282 yards with 10 touchdowns as a rookie last year. He's WR7 on the Footballguys 2025 Projections.

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence working through minor soreness    Tue Jun 10, 02:52 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (arm), who was spotted wearing a throwing sleeve at the start of mandatory minicamp, is experiencing 'general soreness,' according to head coach Liam Coen.

Footballguys view: Lawrence went through the entire practice, throwing the ball during the session, but the sleeve raised questions from the media in attendance. "We threw a lot of balls last week," Coen explained. "He feels good. He said it wasn't really an issue . . . I think it was more just maintenance than anything that was really bothering him." Lawrence's 2024 season ended because of left shoulder surgery, but it doesn't appear that the current issue with his throwing arm is a risk to put him back on the sideline. We'll follow up as needed.

Jaguars | Travis Hunter has been working at WR    Tue Jun 10, 12:10 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter has been working exclusively at wide receiver during the three voluntary workouts open to the media this offseason, according to ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco.

Footballguys view: That said, Hunter has spent time at the corner in several closed workouts, and coach Liam Coen has been impressed. "The movement skills and some of the man coverages, the feel in zone [coverage], you can definitely see how natural it is for him," Coen said. "When you see him in the 7-on-7 and team settings, he does not look out of place by any means." Hunter's average draft position has risen to WR29. His play-making ability warrants that spot. Still, week-to-week consistency might be an issue, given the dual role.

Jaguars | Dyami Brown pushing for big role?    Fri Jun 6, 12:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dyami Brown has been working as one of the top receivers during OTAs, and 'it's increasingly apparent that he figures to play a huge role in the offense' in 2025, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars new regime loves Brown's ability to make plays downfield, enough to guaranteed $9.5 million on a one-year deal. The team also paid a lot to trade up for Travis Hunter and plan on playing him primarily at wide receiver, but Liam Coen's offense will deploy a lot of three-wide sets. Brown has late round value in best ball leagues, but could greatly outproduce that ADP if Hunter has some growing pains. Brown is also a possible upgrade from Gabe Davis, who the Jaguars released, and could help increase Trevor Lawrence's value.

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence showing improvement    Fri Jun 6, 12:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has shown drastically improved footwork during offseason workouts, according to head coach Liam Coen.

Footballguys view: Lawrence has a chance to be the breakout quarterback of 2025 under Coen's tutelage. Coen played a large part in Will Levis's draft stock and Baker Mayfield's career revival, and the team has been aggressive about improving the wide receiver room this offseason. He should be a target if you wait on quarterback or as a QB2 in superflex leagues.

Jaguars | Jacksonville not looking to move on from Travis Etienne    Mon Jun 2, 01:40 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne 'has done everything we have asked him to do and more,' according to head coach Liam Coen on Monday, June 2.

Footballguys view: Etienne missed his rookie season with a Lisfranc injury but had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons before rushing 150 times for 558 yards and two touchdowns last season. The Jaguars also have Tank Bigsby back along with fourth-rounder Bhayshul Tuten and seventh-rounder LeQuint Allen. Etienne, projected to finish as RB35, is our top fantasy prospect in this backfield.

Jaguars | Dyami Brown standing out    Tue May 27, 03:24 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dyami Brown has been 'really productive' throughout the early part of the team's offseason work, according to head coach Liam Coen.'He's made a lot of plays. He's been really productive throughout this whole camp so far. Showing versatility to maybe do some things that he hadn't put on tape in the past or wasn't asked to do from his skill set standpoint. I thought obviously very productive towards the halfway point of last year, into the playoffs, and then you see that confidence continuing to grow throughout this camp and this offseason,' Coen told reporters on Tuesday, May 27.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars signed Brown to a one-year, $10 million deal during free agency. GM James Gladstone said the Jaguars see an ascending player in Brown, who totaled 229 yards during Washington's playoff run last season, and someone who can take another step with the opportunities he can earn in Jacksonville. If nothing else, Brown adds another vertical presence to the Jaguars' offense, which will help free up Brian Thomas Jr. to impact other levels of the field more often. So, even though it's early, Brown getting off to a quick start is noteworthy.

Jaguars | Brenton Strange confident    Sun May 25, 03:16 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Brenton Strange said he believes he is ready to take over as the starting tight end this upcoming season.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars moved on from TE Evan Engram, who signed with the Broncos this offseason, so Strange moves into their TE1 position. New Jaguars GM James Gladstone expects Strange to "have a part in the offense, moving forward, in a way we haven't seen yet." Most Fantasy GMs consider Strange to be a mid-range TE2, but we'll see if he can provide a bit more value in 2025 with a larger role.

Jaguars | Dyami Brown making good impression    Sat May 24, 12:26 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dyami Brown has flashed during OTAs and could be a 'critical cog' of the offense, according to Kainani Stevens of Jaguars.com.

Footballguys view: Brown has always had the talent to get downfield in a hurry, but he's never played up to his potential in the pros. We'll see what he can do with his new team after coming off career highs with the Commanders in 2024. Last year, Brown had 40 targets, 30 catches, 308 receiving yards, and one touchdown. We'll see if he can light things up in the preseason and get on the fantasy radar.

Jaguars | Travis Hunter works at WR Monday    Tue May 20, 12:33 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter worked exclusively at wide receiver during practice Monday, May 19.

Footballguys view: Hunter has spent most of his time working with the offense since the Jaguars traded up to land him with the second pick overall in last month's NFL Draft. That said, he did participate in defensive meetings during rookie minicamp. Hunter also worked at cornerback last week, the final part of Phase 2 of the offseason conditioning program. During Monday's session, the rookie was the intended target on one of Trevor Lawrence's two interceptions, the result of a throw that sailed high. The two hooked up multiple times in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. It'll take some time to get everyone comfortable in head coach Liam Coen's offense, but Lawrence said Hunter is making progress, and the QB is eager to work with the two-way star. "Ball skills, running after the catch, he's very explosive," Lawrence said of Hunter after Monday's session. "Just didn't realize how explosive he was in and out of cuts. He's impressive to watch, and we've connected a couple of times." We'll be watching for more.

Jaguars | Trevor Lawrence picking up new offense    Mon May 19, 06:23 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has been impressive with his ability to pick up the new offensive scheme, according to head coach Liam Coen.

Footballguys view: "He's done a phenomenal job," said Coen about Lawrence learning the new scheme. Coen noted the work Lawrence has put in on his own time, and handling the workload and play calls. "I've been very impressed." Meanwhile, Lawrence feels stronger as he works his way back from shoulder surgery. He suffered the injury in Week 9 last season and missed Weeks 10 and 11. However, once he was placed on IR due to a concussion, he and the team thought it was best to get the shoulder surgery at that time rather than putting it off until the end of the season. When the Jaguars reconvened for Phase I of offseason programs in April, Coen said that Lawrence would be on a "pitch count." However, roughly five weeks later, Lawrence went through the team drills during Monday's practice. Regarding the new offensive system, Lawrence likes what he sees. "It's great," the QB said. "It puts a lot on the players; you have to know your stuff, but it gives you all the answers. Without going into too much detail, there are a lot of things I like about it." We'll be following along as Lawrence and the Jaguars work their way up to speed with Coen at the helm.

Jaguars | Two competing for buck linebacker role    Sun May 18, 10:12 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars LBs Devin Lloyd and Jalen McLeod are expected to compete for the buck linebacker position, according to general manager James Gladstone.

Footballguys view: Lloyd was a first-round pick of the Jaguars in the 2022 NFL Draft, while McLeod was a sixth-round pick for the team in the 2025 NFL Draft. McLeod is an interesting prospect coming out of Auburn, and he plays all over the field with a high level of versatility and violence. The Jaguars did not pick up the fifth-year option for Lloyd, arguably their best linebacker over the past two seasons, so he's set to be a free agent in 2026. This battle will take place in training camp with Lloyd the favorite to land the job.

Sources: The Jaguars are signing former Bills TE Quintin Morris to a one-year deal.

Footballguys view: As FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz noted, Morris, who had three touchdowns over three seasons in Buffalo, is especially valued for his blocking ability. That's a trait Jacksonville's new coaching staff prioritizes in tight ends. Fantasy managers? Not so much. Brenton Strange remains the fantasy target of interest at the position in Jacksonville.

Jaguars | Jacksonville has plans for LeQuint Allen    Wed May 14, 08:58 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars seventh-round draft choice RB LeQuint Allen is 'kind of an interesting player' who can play a little bit of slot, according to head coach Liam Coen.'Then you look at (LeQuint) Allen, kind of an interesting player. Can play a little bit of slot. Move him into the backfield. Obviously, he had 1,000 yards over the last two years, and then he can catch the ball out of the back field. Good in the screen game. Competitor, man,' Coen told SI.com.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars made two additions to their running back room in the 2025 NFL Draft, taking Bhayshul Tuten at the top of the fourth round and doubling up with Allen. While it is clear what Tuten offers in terms of game-breaking speed with his 4.32 40-yard dash, Allen brings something entirely his own to the table: his impact in the passing game. He was not just productive on screens and check-downs, either. He frequently lined up at wide receiver for Syracuse, proving his versatility as a weapon. Allen is one of only two players nationally with 1,000-plus rushing yards (1,021) and 500 receiving yards (521) in the 2024 season. Still, as a seventh-round pick, Allen has much to prove in a backfield with Tuten and veteran holdovers Travis Etienne Jr. and Tank Bigsby.

Jaguars | Tank Bigsby on the bubble?    Tue May 13, 12:41 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby is not 'guaranteed' a roster spot for the 2025 season, in the opinion of Jacksonville.com's Demetrius Harvey, who notes that Jacksonville has worked to reshape the offensive line and running back positions following the hiring of new head coach Liam Coen.

Footballguys view: In another effort to reshape the team's running backs room, the Jaguars took two backs in this year's draft. Bhayshul Tuten, drafted out of Virginia Tech, is the most likely to receive extensive playing time. According to Times-Union staffer Demetrius Harvey, head coach Liam Coen's scouting report indicates that Tuten could get some playing time as the team's change-of-pace back but can play all three downs if needed. Jacksonville is entering the year with top backs Travis Etienne and Bigsby on board. Still, given the extensive work the team has done to reshape the offensive line and their running backs room, Harvey contends neither player's roster spot should be guaranteed. We'll monitor this situation closely throughout training camp.

Jaguars | Rookie WR/CB Hunter will 'start to roll' on defense soon    Sun May 11, 02:18 PM

Josh Alper, from ProFootballTalk.com, reports Jacksonville Jaguars HC Liam Coen says no.2 overall pick WR/CB Travis Hunter will 'start to roll' on defense next week.

Footballguys view: Hunter is an amazing player with a ton of upside as a receiver in the Jagaurs offense. He began his rookie minicamp primarily on the offensive side of the ball, and Coen has previously said that the two-way Colorado superstar is going to mostly be on offense while getting some defensive work too. Hunter will play as large of a role as he possibly can on defense, and the preparation begins this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft choice CB Caleb Ransaw, sixth-round draft choice S Rayuan Lane III and seventh-round draft choice RB LeQuint Allen signed four-year contracts with the Jaguars Friday, May 9. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: We like LeQuint Allen in crazy deep dynasty formats. There's a dash of James Cook to his game, and he can make plays as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. With the future of Travis Etienne unknown, Allen is a player to monitor in training camp.

Jaguars | Travis Etienne not a lock for 2025?    Thu May 8, 02:16 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne is not 'guaranteed' a roster spot heading into the season, in the opinion of Jacksonville.com's Demetrius Harvey, who notes that the team has put a lot of work into reshaping the offensive line and running back rooms under new head coach Liam Coen. That includes drafting RBs Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen.

Footballguys view: Tuten has a ton of speed, and Allen is a player who could thrive on all three downs due to his athleticism and contact balance. If the team moves on from Etienne, those two rookies could play a larger role.

Jaguars | Gabe Davis released    Wed May 7, 10:42 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Gabe Davis was released Wednesday, May 7.

Footballguys view: Davis signed a three-year contract with the team as a free agent last offseason, but the Jaguars have changed their head coach and general manager since he arrived, and the move makes it clear he no longer had a spot in the team's plans. Jacksonville also released wide receiver Josh Reynolds and tight end Evan Engram in March. They traded wide receiver Christian Kirk and signed wide receiver Dyami Brown before trading up to take Travis Hunter with the second overall pick in the draft. Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. will be the top fantasy prospects in this offense. Davis had 20 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games for the Jags.

Footballguys view: Hunter was arguably the best wide receiver in this class while also being the best cornerback in this class. He wants to play on both sides of the ball full time, and that's a big dream. For now, it seems like Hunter will work mostly on the offensive side while getting defensive reps as a reserve corner.
