Detroit Lions LB Romeo Okwara (Achilles) was not a full participant in team drills during minicamp.
Footballguys view: The Lions added Aidan Hutchinson at the #2 overall pick and Josh Paschal in the second round to bolster their defensive end group, and they also re-signed 2021 redemption story and former Dolphins first round pick Charles Harris. Okwara was their best edge rusher in 2020 with 10 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, and if he can return to form, the Lions will have their best edge group in years with an improved focus on stopping the run. |

Link to storyUpdating previous reports, New Orleans Saints DE Marcus Davenport (finger) had part of his left pinkie amputated in the offseason after breaking a plate from a previous surgery and suffering an infection. Davenport said the pinkie has been a nagging issue since he first tore ligaments in it during his junior year in college. After it became significantly bent over time, he finally had it surgically repaired in 2021. But then he broke the plate that was inserted this offseason and had three more surgeries, ultimately resulting in the amputation. Davenport doesn't believe it will affect his performance, noting that he had already learned to adjust to the bent finger.
Footballguys view: Jason Pierre-Paul remained effective after losing his right index finger, so this shouldn't change the outlook for Davenport. The Saints hope that their defense will carry the team again this year, a defense that will include Tyrann Mathieu in his return to Crescent City, where he grew up. |

Detroit Lions No. 2 overall pick DE Aidan Hutchinson was disruptive in team periods and nearly had an interception on a screen pass last week.
