Rams | Aaron Donald considering return to NFL Wed Jun 3, 12:15 AM
Former Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald told The Schultz Report on Tuesday, June 2 that he is considering a return to the NFL. 'I'm for sure flirting with the idea,' Donald texted Jordan Schultz. 'Helluva an opportunity with the Super Bowl in SoFi this year. If I can find the fire, it's a possibility.' Donald, 35, has not played since 2023 but started considering a return when the Rams traded for reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett on Monday.
Footballguys view: Donald, 35, has not played since 2023. Rams coach Sean McVay was asked Tuesday about the possibility of Donald coming back. "Listen, if he's interested," McVay said during Garrett's introductory news conference. "Here's what I'll say: You talk to Aaron, and you see what he's saying about that," McVay admitted he has talked to Donald since acquiring Garrett. The biggest problem for the Rams would be fitting Donald under their salary cap. But you can bet they would figure out a way to get the three-time Defensive Player of the Year on the roster if he wants to return.

Cleveland Browns DE Markees Watts was placed on the reserve/retired list by the team on Tuesday, June 2.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks DE Derick Hall agreed to a three-year, $42 million extension that could be worth up to $46.5 million and includes $21 million guaranteed on Tuesday, June 2.
Footballguys view: The Seahawks lost Boye Mafe in free agency to Cincinnati on a three-year, $60 million deal. Hall is more than two years younger than Mafe, but was slowed by oblique and ankle injuries last year. After Hall notched eight sacks (only one fewer than Mafe's career high) as a 23-year-old in 2024, expectations were high, and it's clear the Seahawks believe in Hall. This is another prudent move for GM John Schneider.

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett is being traded to the Los Angeles Rams Monday, June 1, in exchange for DE Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft choice and other undisclosed draft choices, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: The Browns claimed they had no interest in trading Garrett, and even told that to the Rams, according to ESPN's reporting. But the Rams refused to give up their "persistent pursuit" of Garrett. The Browns told the Rams that no deal would get done without including the 25-year-old Verse, the Rams' 2024 first-round pick, who has had 12 sacks and 22 tackles for loss the past two seasons. The Rams initially were not interested in moving Verse, but eventually began to consider a package with him as long as the draft picks were adjusted appropriately. Now the deal is done.

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett is being acquired by the Los Angeles Rams Monday, June 1, in exchange for DE Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft choice and other undisclosed draft choices, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com noted, the shocking trade is completely on brand for the Rams, who made a similarly seismic move in the 2021 offseason when they traded for QB Matthew Stafford in the season in which the Super Bowl was being played in Los Angeles before going on to win it. With Super Bowl LXI set to be played at SoFi Stadium again, the Rams once again are going all-in and living by their mantra, "F--- them picks," while trying to repeat history. The move doesn't have a huge impact on Garrett's IDP value, which will remain high.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) participated in LB Brian Burns' celebrity softball game on Saturday night, and he took part in all scheduled activities, from dodgeball to the home run derby to the game itself. He was seen backpedaling in the dodgeball game, and he was showing off a full range of motion. However, he still didn't show if he can start, stop or cut as his position requires, so it was just a glimpse of where he is at. Head coach John Harbaugh recently said the receiver is still working through rehab, and he is uncertain if Nabers will be ready for the start of training camp.
Footballguys view: Nabers didn't look too hobbled, but he didn't look like he was entirely comfortable either. It's still very unlikely he'll be ready for training camp, and nothing about this news item should change his uncertain status for Week 1.

Buffalo Bills LB Michael Hoecht (Achilles) continues to rehab from a torn Achilles tendon, and he was working off to the side during organized team activities (OTAs).
Link to storyBuffalo Bills DL Ed Oliver (knee) was limited to just three games in 2025 due to an ankle injury, and then a season-ending torn biceps injury. He isn't taking part in organized team activities (OTAs), as he takes it slow after having a knee scope on his left leg back in December. He also had a small setback recently. 'Yeah, I'm fully 100 percent ready to go,' he said. 'I got a little oops, oops, but it's fine. I probably could go if I wanted to, but I mean, what's the point of going now, and potentially (getting hurt), versus late in the playoffs, when I really need to be on go.'
Footballguys view: The Bills most impactful defensive lineman didn't help them much in 2025, so there is some hidden upside in this defense in its first year since 2016 with someone other than Sean McDermott at head coach. The Bills should be very conservative with Oliver's return and focus on creating the highest possible probability that he'll be healthy for postseason football. If Oliver is ready for Week 1, he'll help the Bills in what could be a playoff preview against the Texans in the season opener.

San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa (knee) is making his way back from a third torn anterior cruciate ligament, and the second on his right knee. He has developed ways to cope with adversity, stress and anxiety during his seven-year career, which he considered ending after his latest injury. 'It was rough early on, especially how good things (were) going for the defense and me personally,' Bosa said. 'I felt that was at a pretty high level to start the year. And then you start out (after you're injured) wanting to quit. Never play again. Never put your body in that position again. And then you slowly realize that you love this game, and you want to get back to it.' He fully expects to play in the regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 10 in Australia.
Footballguys view: Bosa is a very important player for a defense that was playing without him and Fred Warner for most of the season, and also lost defensive coordinator Robert Saleh when he was hired as the head coach of the Titans. The Rams offense could start out red hot against the 49ers defense still rounding into form down under in Week 1.

Tennessee Titans first-round draft choice DE Keldric Faulk signed a four-year contract with the Titans Wednesday, May 27. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: The Titans were high enough on Faulk to trade back into the first round to land him. Faulk has a very high ceiling because of his size, strength, and athleticism. He can play inside and outside on the defensive line and Robert Saleh's staff be able to develop him in multiple roles, which could be anywhere from putting his hand on the ground and lining head up on a guard to standing up at outside linebacker.

Cleveland Browns DT Mason Graham said he dealt with a broken rib during the end of the 2025 season.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals DE Myles Murphy did not have his fifth-year option picked up, so he enters the final season of his rookie contract. He didn't see any starts until the 2025 season, when he made 10 starts. He was good for a career-high 52 tackles with 5.5 sacks and six tackles for loss. Heading into 2026, he could have a big season, as he works for a future contract shot with either the Bengals or another organization.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints DT Christen Miller (undisclosed) did not see the field during rookie minicamp, as he has been dealing with an undisclosed injury. When he is healthy, his versatility is expected to get him on the field quickly. 'Big, powerful young man and adds to a great room, so we're excited to get him,' general manager Mickey Loomis said.
Link to storyChicago Bears DE Dayo Odeyingbo (Achilles) is expected to be ready for training camp after being limited to eight games due to an Achilles' rupture after signing a three-year, $48 million deal in March 2025. He will 'definitely be in the mix' at defensive end when training camp starts, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said.

Chicago Bears DE Montez Sweat had a team-high 10 sacks last season, while leading the team with 44 pressures. The team struggled in pass rush, but Sweat certainly did his part. However, he had 27 more pressures than the next best Chicago player, DT Gervon Dexter Sr. That difference of 27 was the fourth largest between a team's top two pressure generators last season.

Chicago Bears DT Jordan van den Berg was selected 213th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, in hopes of helping the team improve its pass rush. The Bears were 31st in the NFL in pass-rush win rate (29%) and 29th in pressure percentage (28%).

Kansas City Chiefs second-round draft choice DE R Mason Thomas signed a four-year contract with the Chiefs Thursday, May 21. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Thomas is an edge rush demon who might be limited to that role because of his size a la Bruce Irvin. He might be the best pure edge rusher in the 2026 draft, and could also make an instant impact on a team that is in a Super Bowl window. Whether that will translate to IDP league value depends on Thomas's ability to stay on the field on early downs.
New York Giants DT Roy Robertson-Harris (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles in organized team activities Thursday, May 21, and will miss the entire 2026 season.
Footballguys view: The Giants are trying to replace Dexter Lawrence after trading him to the Bengals for the #10 pick of the draft (used to take OT/OG Francis Mauigoa). They also signed DJ Reader and Shelby Harris, but this is a blow to a unit that was already coming into the season much weaker without its long-time leader.

Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby (knee) should be available for the start of training camp, according to head coach Klint Kubiak.
Footballguys view: It's been quite an unusual offseason for Crosby. He underwent knee surgery at the beginning of the offseason and was going to be traded to the Ravens. The deal was nixed due to concerns about his knee. Now, he's staying with the Raiders and focused on getting out there later this summer. Crosby's relationship with the Raiders seems to be better, but there are still many speculating he could be dealt around the trade deadline.

Baltimore Ravens second-round draft choice DE Zion Young signed a four-year contract with the Ravens on Tuesday, May 19. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyThe Cleveland Browns have signed WR Aaron Anderson, DE Markees Watts and LB Reid Carrico to contracts. The Browns have also cut WR Isaiah Wooden, Caden Prieskorn and DT Bernard Gooden, according to the NFL transaction wire on Tuesday, May 19.
Link to storyFree-agent DE Cameron Jordan (Saints) has received a contract offer from the New Orleans Saints this offseason, according to general manager Mickey Loomis.
Footballguys view: Jordan has talked about leaving the door open to returning to New Orleans for his 16th season, but he hasn't accepted that contract offer. That suggests Jordan is looking for something more from the Saints or someone else before making any commitment for the coming season.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is '100 percent' in the conservation of elite quarterbacks in the NFL, according to teammate DL Arik Armstead. 'The steps that he's taken this year to improve. A big area for me and what solidified it for me was that Denver game on the road,' Armstead said. 'Denver coming in, an elite defense, one of the best defenses in the leagues, pass rush, blitzes, playmakers all over the field. They were sending pressure at him, they were throwing zero looks, they were rushing with four with some great guys.'
Footballguys view: It's a fair assessment. After all, Lawrence played the best football of his five-year NFL career over the second half of last season. The Jaguars won eight consecutive games (and averaged an NFL-best 33.6 points per game over that span) to close out the regular season. Lawrence scored 24 total touchdowns, 19 of them through the air, with just five interceptions during that stretch. He finished the season as QB4 with 342.2 fantasy points, but was QB1 from Weeks 10 through 17. Lawrence is currently being drafted as QB10.

Carolina Panthers DE Tershawn Wharton will reportedly be out 'a while' after undergoing a neck procedure and is expected to begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list, according to Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer on Friday, May 15.
Footballguys view: This shouldn't be a big issue for the defense even though the team gave Wharton a three-year, $45 million contract last year because they drafted a top defensive tackle prospect - Lee Hunter from Texas Tech - in the second round. It's possible, if not likely, that the Panthers factored this injury into their draft plans.

Carolina Panthers DL Lee Hunter signed his rookie contract with the team on Friday, May 15. It is for four years, though financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Hunter will be a stout presence against the run and he can get after the quarterback, just like his new running mate Derrick Brown. They should make each other more effective and give opposing offenses trouble once Hunter is up to speed.
