Ravens | Nnamdi Madubuike cleared to return, placed on PUP list    Sun Jul 26, 04:37 PM

Baltimore Ravens DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 25.

Footballguys view: This is big news for the Ravens, as Madubuike is the team's best interior defensive lineman. It wasn't certain that he would be cleared to practice, but he was by independent spine/cervical doctors after only playing in two games last year before his season was over due to a neck injury. He could practice as soon as next week if everything in his return to the field goes well.

Bears | Multiple players not cleared for practice    Sun Jul 26, 04:37 PM

Chicago Bears LB Keyshaun Elliott (undisclosed), CB Kyler Gordon (undisclosed), LB Noah Sewell (undisclosed), OT Ozzy Trapilo (knee) and DE Shemar Turner (undisclosed) were placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, July 25. The team also placed LB T.J. Edwards (undisclosed) on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

Footballguys view: The most important name here is Trapilo, who emerged as the team's starting left tackle as a rookie second round pick last year. The team still has Braxton Jones, who he supplanted, and they signed former Browns first round pick Jedrick Wills as a reclamation project for depth. Trapilo tore a patellar tendon, so he's projected to miss most of the season, and there's no guarantee that he'll play at all.

Cardinals | Injury updates for two players    Fri Jul 24, 05:29 PM

Updating previous reports, Arizona Cardinals OT Paris Johnson Jr. (knee) and LB Josh Sweat (knee) are both on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list because of knee injuries, but neither injury is considered serious. Head coach Mike LaFleur said both could be back at practice next week.

Footballguys view: Now we have expectations set by the team. If Johnson and Sweat are back next week, we can take this off of our list of situations to monitor. If not, then we'll have consider what this team would look like without their starting left tackle or best pass rusher.

Panthers | Serious injury for Nic Scourton    Fri Jul 24, 05:29 PM

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers DE Nic Scourton (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during practice Thursday, July 23, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Cameron Wolfe. He is scheduled to receive a second opinion to confirm the injury and is expected to have surgery in a few weeks if it is confirmed.

Footballguys view: The Panthers have lost their #2 defensive end - an ascendant 2025 second round pick - in addition to being without their starting left and right tackles to open the season. One of their starting guards and starting corners are going for scans to have back issues checked out. After it felt like the team was turning things around after pushing the Rams to the brink in the wild card round of the playoffs, Carolina has a lot of adversity to overcome before most teams have even started training camp.

NFL | Aaron Donald testing his limits    Fri Jul 17, 01:07 PM

Retired DL Aaron Donald is putting himself through football workouts to gauge his level of readiness for the 2026 season if he decides to return, according to Bleacher Report's James Palmer.

Footballguys view: The possibility of the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year playing again emerged after the Rams' blockbuster trade for Browns superstar Myles Garrett. If Donald does decide to play again, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport contends we shouldn't expect the 35-year-old to handle an every-down role: "If he does show up, it would probably even be toward the end of training camp and could even be into the season because he's not going to be playing 50 or 60 plays on defense." Even in a limited capacity, Donald being in the mix would be a nightmare for opposing offenses.

Ravens | Rehab going well for Nnamdi Madubuike    Thu Jul 16, 03:52 PM

Baltimore Ravens DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) is still making progress in his recovery, and the team will have more information about his injury in the next two weeks, according to general manager Eric DeCosta.

Footballguys view: A two-time Pro Bowler, Madubuike's absence had a ripple effect on Baltimore's defense last season. Only two teams had fewer sacks than the Ravens' 30. Madubuike's 13 sacks in 2023 were the most among all defensive tackles. As the team's official website suggested, his return would give Baltimore a fearsome defensive trio with Travis Jones returning and Calais Campbell coming back to Baltimore.
