Dolphins | MIA adds Seth Coleman-Lyles to roster Tue Aug 18, 05:33 PM
Free-agent DE Seth Coleman-Lyles (Colts) was signed by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The Dolphins also waived DE Mason Reiger with the waived/injured designation.
Link to storyFree-agent DL Cam Rice has signed with the Miami Dolphins, according to a source on Monday, Aug. 17. The Dolphins also released S Tanner Wall.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Chris Bell (knee) was activated from the Active/Non-Football Injury list Monday, Aug. 17.
Footballguys view: Bell, wearing a red non-contact jersey, practiced for the first time on Monday. He participated in stretching and individual drills, but he sat out of 11-on-11 work. Bell tore his ACL in December. His return to full health could potentially give Miami an exciting pair of young wide receivers. Fellow rookie Caleb Douglas has been one of the standout players at training camp and started the Dolphins' preseason opener against the Commanders. We'll continue to monitor Bell's progress.
Miami Dolphins WR Jalen Reagor worked as the No. 3 receiver in the preseason opener Friday, Aug. 14, against the Washington Commanders. He was working ahead of WRs Tutu Atwell, Jalen Tolbert, and others, seeing reps alongside WRs Caleb Douglas and Malik Washington. 'He had earned the right through practices to put himself in that situation,' head coach Jeff Hafley said. 'I like the way he strained. He's catching the ball well. Run after the catch has good. He's blocking well.'

Miami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II was pulled from the preseason game Friday, Aug. 14, against the Washington Commanders after taking an unsportsmanlike penalty. 'Had a talk with him immediately and pulled him out of the game, eventually let him go back in. As far as the conversation goes, I'll keep that between us. It was a great time to teach the team a lesson and Ollie a lesson.' head coach Jeff Hafley said. 'We had an opportunity to continue a drive; post-snap penalties like that are not acceptable to me. It's disrespectful to the team. It's selfish.'
Link to storyMiami Dolphins LB Tyrel Dodson started the preseason game Friday, Aug. 14, against the Washington Commanders, and he played 23 snaps. He is trying to hold off LB Jacob Rodriguez for the starting job. Rodriguez saw 13 snaps in the preseason opener.

Miami Dolphins DT Matthew Butler and LB Keith Cooper Jr. are battling for backup jobs on the 53-man roster. Butler logged 30 snaps in the preseason opener Friday, Aug. 14, against the Washington Commanders, while Keith Cooper Jr. saw 36 snaps.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins QB Quinn Ewers (groin) suffered a groin injury in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 14, against the Washington Commanders, according to a league source. Ewers struggled with his completion percentage in the game, and it was enough of a concern that the team re-signed QB Mark Gronowski.
Footballguys view: Some thought Ewers was good enough late last season to push Malik Willis, or at least give the team an alternative if Willis struggled mightily in his first starting job. Now it's unsure if he'll be able to back up Willis up against the Raiders in Week 1.
Free-agent QB Mark Gronowski was re-signed by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Aug. 16, and the team also signed LB Cam Riley.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins OG Jamaree Salyer (undisclosed) was placed on the season-ending reserve/injured list Sunday, Aug. 16, due to an undisclosed injury. CB Ethan Robinson was also waived with an injury settlement.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Malik Washington caught all three of his targets for 15 yards in the preseason game against the Washington Commanders Friday, Aug. 14.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins QB Malik Willis completed four of his five passes for 43 yards and rushed twice for nine yards in the preseason game against the Washington Commanders Friday, Aug. 14.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane rushed seven times for 39 yards and a touchdown in the preseason game against the Washington Commanders Friday, Aug. 14.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas is listed as one of the starting wide receivers on the team's first unofficial depth chart because he has been consistent during training camp, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: Late in July, Cameron Wolfe from NFL Network suggested that Douglas might be a starter this year. It's a great sign that he's listed as one of the starters on the initial depth chart. We'll likely see the Dolphins go run-heavy on offense with Malik Willis at quarterback. However, if Douglas can be a favorite target - and maybe even a security blanket for Willis - there could be more fantasy value there than some think.
Miami Dolphins DT Zach Sieler (undisclosed) is considered week-to-week because of an undisclosed injury, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane could have games in which he touches the ball more than 40 times, HC Jeff Hafley said during an interview on the 'The Rich Eisen Show,' on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Footballguys view: Earlier this year, Achane said Dolphins OC Bobby Slowik wants to be run-heavy in 2026. That being said, 40 touches is a bit ridiculous for one game....and Achane is unlikely to get that heavy of a workload. Achane did say he wanted to lead the league in rushing this year, and if his body holds up he could be in line to do just that. He's got a current ADP of RB6 (2.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.
Free-agent CB Nick McCloud (Bears) has signed with the Miami Dolphins, according to a source on Monday, Aug. 10.
Link to storyNew England Patriots OT Caedan Wallace was acquired by the Miami Dolphins Monday, Aug. 10, in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft choice. The Dolphins will also receive a 2029 seventh-round draft choice in the trade.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins PK Zane Gonzalez (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Aug. 10.
Footballguys view: Gonzalez has been competing with Riley Patterson, who was excellent for the Dolphins last year, making 93% of his field goals - a franchise record. As Footballguy Sigmund Bloom noted this week, Gonzalez has been the more accurate kicker to date in camp, but there's no reason to believe the Dolphins won't be comfortable rolling with Patterson again this fall. Gonzales, meanwhile, will miss the entire season unless the Dolphins release him.

Miami Dolphins RB Anthony Hankerson was waived Monday, Aug. 10.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich (hand) fully participated in practice Monday, Aug. 10.
Footballguys view: Dulcich has been working in a red no-contact jersey. He's dealing with a right hand or finger injury that was reportedly heavily taped, so his return to full-contact work is encouraging. Once healthy, Dulcich is expected to operate as the top receiving tight end in a new-look Dolphins offense that lacks an established pecking order among its pass catchers.
Miami Dolphins DE Clelin Ferrell (undisclosed) will miss several weeks because of an injury.

Miami Dolphins CB Julius Brents (undisclosed) is not expected to practice this week but is unlikely to be sidelined for an extended period of time.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins PK Zane Gonzalez (undisclosed) is considered week-to-week because of an injury, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.

Miami Dolphins DB Omar Brown (undisclosed) reverted to the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Aug. 8, after being waived with an injury designation.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins OT Austin Jackson (undisclosed) returned to practice Friday, Aug. 7, after missing the previous two practices.

Miami Dolphins QB Mark Gronowski was waived Friday, Aug. 7.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day because of an undisclosed injury.
Footballguys view: The team has revealed that Dulcich's injury is to his right hand/finger and that he may miss a week or two before he returns. The tight end has a chance to lead the team in targets and receptions because the wide receiver group is inexperienced. The sooner he can take reps with new starting quarterback Malik Willis, the better.
Former New England Patriots TE Jeremiah Franklin was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, Aug. 5. The team also placed DT Rene Konga (undisclosed) on the Reserve/Injured list.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins DT Rene Konga (undisclosed injury) will miss the entire 2026 NFL season, according to HC Jeff Hafley on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 3.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich (undisclosed) was not on the field during practice Sunday, Aug. 2.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas has been stringing together solid practices during training camp and had his 'best day' thus far on Friday, July 31, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com
Footballguys view: Douglas was taken in the third round by the Dolphins even though many had him rated as a late third day pick. He is a speedy, long-framed receiver and the team believes he can do more than he was asked to do at Texas Tech. With fellow third round receiver Chris Bell still recovering ACL surgery, Douglas has a chance to seize a starting role in this almost completely unsettled WR depth chart.
Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins LB Jordyn Brooks received a three-year, $48 million base extension. He's fully guaranteed $26.5 million with $2.5 million more in March 2027. He can earn $825,000 in annual incentives.

Miami Dolphins WR Kevin Coleman Jr. and WR Caleb Douglas both 'looked explosive' after the catch during training camp Wednesday, July 29, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins OT Austin Jackson (toe) said he feels 'better than his normal self' during training camp after dealing with a toe injury last season.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (shoulder) has been fully cleared for training camp, according to head coach Jeff Hafley. Achane is expected to be a full participant in practice.
Footballguys view: Achane had cleanup surgery on his shoulder after the season, and the expectation was that he would be ready for training camp. The Dolphins signed Achane to a four-year, $64 million contract extension this month. It's unlikely they would have made that commitment if they weren't confident in his long-term health. Achane has been a high-end producer since his rookie season, but with the Dolphins starting a rebuild, 2026 will be the biggest challenge of his career. The uncertainty due to the changing circumstances has Achane falling into Round 2.
Free-agent DE Clelin Ferrell (49ers) was signed by the Miami Dolphins, according to a source on Monday, July 27. The Dolphins also waived DL Kahlil Saunders.

Miami Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas has a chance to earn a starting role this season, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.
Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Texas Tech in the 2026 NFL Draft, Douglas has a great size-speed combination. With a large wingspan and the ability to take the top off the defense, Douglas could be a big-play weapon for QB Malik Willis. However, he needs to play with more physicality at the catch point and cut down on his concentration drops to truly play up to his potential. We'll see in training camp and the preseason how the Dolphins' WR depth chart shapes up with Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, and Douglas competing for the top spots.
Miami Dolphins CB Storm Duck (knee) and CB Darrell Baker Jr. (undisclosed) were placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday, July 23.
Link to storyFree-agent QB Jack Plummer (UFL) is scheduled to work out for the Miami Dolphins at some point next week, according to a source.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins LB Jordyn Brooks signed a three-year, $51 million deal on Wednesday, July 22, with $35 million guaranteed.
Footballguys view: Brooks, 28, led the NFL in combined tackles (183) and solo tackles (99) last season en route to being named a first-team All-Pro. The rebuilding Dolphins view the linebacker, C Aaron Brewer, and RB De'Von Achane as foundational pieces to build around.

The Dolphins have placed rookie WR Chris Bell, who is recovering from a torn ACL while at Louisville last December, on the active/NFI list.
Footballguys view: Once he's ready, Bell will compete with Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell, along with fellow rookies Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman, for playing time. Bell is an eventual WR1 candidate for Miami. But with the team in rebuild mode, there's no reason to rush Bell into the fray.
Miami Dolphins LB Jordyn Brooks agreed to a three-year, $51 million deal Tuesday, July 21, with $35 million guaranteed.
Footballguys view: The rebuilding Dolphins have shed several veterans this offseason but prioritized extending their remaining leaders, with Brooks being the latest example. The Dolphins also reached extensions with running back De'Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer this offseason. Brooks, 28, led the NFL in combined tackles (183) and solo tackles (99) last season en route to being named a first-team All-Pro.

Miami Dolphins CB Storm Duck (knee) may return to the field soon, but it is not known if he will be ready for training camp.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Jalen Tolbert is emerging as the top target of QB Malik Willis heading into training camp, according to the Sun Sentinel's David Furones.
Footballguys view: Tolbert brings a specialized skill that has caught our attention in the past. Most notably, a breakout 2024 season, when he caught 49 passes for 610 yards and seven touchdowns for the Cowboys. All seven of his receiving touchdowns came in the red zone, tied for the fifth-most among wide receivers that season. As Athlon's Doug Farrar suggested, Tolbert may have been a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver on other rosters, but opportunity knocks in Miami. That's why the reported connection with Willis is worth noting. So is the fact that Tolbert is being drafted as WR99.
Miami Dolphins RB Anthony Hankerson, who played his school football in the competitive South Florida area, is a candidate for the practice squad. He is battling RBs Donovan Edwards and Carlos Washington Jr. on the depth chart behind veteran RBs De'Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Carlos Washington Jr. has some special teams experience in the NFL, but he is expected to be a practice squad candidate behind RBs De'Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright. RB Donovan Edwards is another player expected to be a practice squad guy.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Donovan Edwards was signed in January after spending most of the year in 2025 on the Washington Commanders practice squad. As long as RBs De'Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright remain healthy, Edwards is expected to be a practice squad candidate in South Florida, too.
