Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer has been one of the 'offensive standouts' in training camp, in the opinion of ESPN's Ryan McFadden, who writes that offensive coordinator Chip Kelly has 'big plans' for Mayer this season, and that has been noticeable thus far.
Footballguys view: Mayer is a talented "Y" tight end who can thrive as a blocker and receiver. The Raiders have Brock Bowers, arguably the best tight end in football and fantasy football, so that limits what Mayer can do. Mayer can help the football team more than he can help Fantasy GMs. |

Las Vegas Raiders CBs Darien Porter and Eric Stokes are making strong cases to start at outside cornerback. Each player reportedly fits the profile of what head coach Pete Carroll likes on defense.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith and the rest of the starters are expected to play in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 7 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Las Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. has been 'one of the shining stars of camp,' in the opinion of ESPN's Ryan McFadden, who writes that Thornton has the 'size and speed to be a vertical threat.' McFadden adds that Thornton, who scored a TD on the first play of red zone period on Monday, Aug. 4, could fill a 'significant role' in Las Vegas' offense.
Footballguys view: Thornton, a fourth-round pick, has been learning to adjust to the speed of the professional level while expanding his route tree. Thornton can get off press, runs past defensive backs, and tracks the ball well. He's a big target and catches passes away from his frame. But due to his unique physical traits, the 6-5, 205-pound Thornton could be positioned to leverage his size and speed to fill a void the other receivers on the roster can't. |
Philadelphia Eagles DT Thomas Booker was acquired by the Las Vegas Raiders Monday, Aug. 4, in exchange for CB Jakorian Bennett, according to sources.

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 1, but was in attendance for practice.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders OT Kolton Miller agreed to a three-year, $66 million extension Thursday, July 31. The deal includes $42.5 million guaranteed.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders DT Christian Wilkins was released with the designation of terminated vested veteran Thursday, July 24, according to sources.
Footballguys view: The Raiders are voiding $35.2 million of guaranteed money because of his "failure to maintain his physical condition to play". He was recovering from a Jones fracture surgery after he suffered the injury in October. ESPN reported that the team believed he needed another surgery, but Wilkins "balked" at the suggestion. The NFLPA has filed a grievance, but no matter how you slice it, this signing has been a massive bust for the team. The Raiders defense didn't have many impact players to begin with, so this is a big blow. |

Las Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. received some work with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, July 23.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Phillip Dorsett (Falcons) and WR Seth Williams (Cowboys) signed with the Las Vegas Raiders Tuesday, July 22. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. The team also waived WR Zakhari Franklin and WR Key'Shawn Smith.
Footballguys view: Dorsett is a veteran with a ton of speed, which sounds like a player who could fit on the Raiders roster (a long shot, but the Raiders have always loved speedy receivers). Williams has a large frame and can win in tight spaces, but he's mainly a practice squad guy if the Raiders decide to keep him around. |

Las Vegas Raiders WR Jack Bech agreed to terms on his rookie contract Thursday, July 17, according to sources.
Footballguys view: More dominoes continue to fall as second-rounders sign contracts. Bech has an overlapping skill set with Jakobi Meyers, potentially capping his rookie-season usage. But he's a talented player worth stashing in dynasty, and could be an injury away from a bigger-than-expected role this year. |
Las Vegas Raiders QB Carter Bradley was waived Monday, July 14.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders WR Jack Bech and WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. likely will have roles in the passing game during their rookie seasons since the Raiders did not make any big moves at the position during the offseason, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Ryan McFadden.
Footballguys view: Thornton appears to be ahead of Bech because of his impressive OTA performance that highlighted his rare size/speed combination. Tre Tucker will battle Thornton for a starting role on the outside, while Bech is better suited in the slot. Jakobi Meyers can play both inside and outside and Brock Bowers will line up at wide receiver at times, so there's a lot to sort out here. In any event, the draft picks will improve the passing game and the running game, as both are spirited downfield blockers. |
Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer isn't a player the team is interested in trading.
Footballguys view: While reports suggested the Dolphins might be interested in acquiring Mayer after shipping Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh, Miami instead went with a former Raider, Darren Waller, who will come out of retirement to play for the Dolphins. For now, we'll assume Mayer remains the No. 2 TE in Las Vegas -- behind Brock Bowers -- until further notice. |

Las Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. has 'already become a top target' for QB Geno Smith, according to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com.
Footballguys view: Thornton can flat-out fly, and his speed allows him to take the top off the defense in a hurry. His connection with Smith is something to monitor as training camp opens up in late July. With good size as well, Thornton can be a threat to attack a defense in the red zone in addition to downfield targets. Earlier reports have suggested that Thornton is "further along than expected." |
Las Vegas Raiders RB Raheem Mostert will be the RB2 for the team that will spell RB Ashton Jeanty, in the opinion of SI.com's Hondo Carpenter.
Footballguys view: The incumbent running backs, Sincere McCormick and Zamir White, didn't do much last year. Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly were quick to address the positional weakness by signing Mostert in free agency. And they made an even bigger splash by drafting Jeanty sixth overall. It was expected that Mostert would be the team's RB2, even before this official report. But the staff's history of leaning on one back, coupled with Jeanty's flawless profile, likely means that Mostert would need an injury ahead of him to see meaningful snaps. |

Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer has been 'outstanding,' according to offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.
Footballguys view: In two seasons, Mayer, a second-round pick in 2023, has totaled 460 yards and two touchdowns on 48 catches. He had just 21 catches for 156 yards as he was absent seven weeks last year for personal reasons. While it's true the offense opens up even more if Mayer is productive and the team can play more two-tight end sets, it hardly guarantees fantasy relevance. As long as Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers are healthy, Mayer will be battling for targets in a group that Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, Ashton Jeanty, and Raheem Mostert. |

Las Vegas Raiders WR Tre Tucker was a standout performer during the mandatory minicamp last week, in the opinion of Levi Damien.
Footballguys view: Tucker possesses the elite speed needed to stretch the field and score quickly. As AtoZSports.com's Justin Churchill recently noted, Tucker has consistently been the only guy on the offense the last two years who has been able to create problems downfield for opposing defenses. Worth noting, the 5-9 Tucker bulked up this offseason after coming into the league at 182 pounds. With a new quarterback, Geno Smith, capable of getting the ball downfield, it will be interesting to see if Tucker can keep improving in year three with the Raiders. |

Las Vegas Raiders TE Michael Mayer enjoyed a 'great offseason,' according to head coach Pete Carroll.'We started out going heart to heart with him to understand what we're all about. And he embraced it and took it as well as anybody could take the challenge of bringing it day in and day out. He had a great camp,' Carroll told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Footballguys view: Mayer has a second round pedigree and could still matter in fantasy leagues, but won't this year without an injury to Brock Bowers. There's a remote possibility that he is traded before the season, but he could be very useful to Chip Kelly and the new regime in two tight end sets and gives the Raiders more personnel set versatility. He's only a dynasty stash in deep and tight end premium leagues. |

Las Vegas Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty won't be the only running back the team relies on, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'I love having multiple guys play,' Carroll said. 'I'm not relying on one guy, you know.' Asked how the carries would be divvied up, Carroll said the RBs would make the decision with their play.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton Jr. received snaps with the first-team offense during practice Tuesday, June 10.
Footballguys view: Keep an eye on Thornton in dynasty formats. The fourth-round pick out of Tennessee (Oregon transfer) has a fine size/speed combination. If the depth chart were released today, the rookie would likely be no.4 behind Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, and fellow rookie Jack Bech. At this time, Thornton is a field-stretcher with a limited route tree. |
Free-agent LB Germaine Pratt (Bengals) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders Wednesday, June 11, worth $4.25 million, according to a source. Pratt can make another $500,000 with playtime incentives.

Las Vegas Raiders WR Dont'e Thornton is a player who has 'some real receiver capabilities to him' and 'not just a guy that can run fast,' according to fellow receiver Jakobi Meyers.'Dont'e is unique in terms of he's just a hair under 6-5 and he ran 4.3. There's not a lot of humans on this planet that do that. And I think if you had to draw up an outside receiver, you would pick that type of body type, someone that's got length, someone that's got a huge catch radius, but also has speed. Sometimes you can get a big guy like that, but he can't really run, so they can stay with him. So, you add that speed element to him, his ability to sink his hips, his ability to get in and out of cuts,' offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said.
Footballguys view: Thornton can make plays down the field as evidenced by his last year at Tennessee when he led the FBS with 25.4 yards per reception. Right now, Thornton is a speed merchant who can take the top off the defense. Thornton is competing with fellow rookie Jack Bech for spots behind Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker. |

Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby told reporters on Friday, May 23, that he is playing at '100 percent and (with) no hesitation' after undergoing ankle surgery this offseason.
Footballguys view: The Raiders are happy with this update. Crosby totaled 7.5 sacks for the Raiders in 12 games last season before suffering an ankle injury that required surgery. Earlier this offseason, the Raiders signed Crosby to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension. Having him at full strength is a huge boost for the Raiders defense in 2025 playing in a division with great quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Bo Nix. |
