Denver Broncos TE Lucas Krull (foot) hopes to be cleared to return to the field in one to two weeks, according to a source.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills LB Terrel Bernard (calf) will not play in the Week 18 game, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert (hand) will not start the Week 18 game, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Footballguys view: With the Chargers locked into a playoff spot and playing for nothing but seeding in their regular-season finale against the Broncos, Herbert will not take the field. His surgically-repaired left hand hasn't been a huge issue, but it's wise to give the QB a week off heading into the postseason. Trey Lance will get the start. It's also worth noting that Harbaugh said other starters with "the most bruises" and need "the most healing" won't play. We'll be watching for more on that, while reminding you that RB Kimani Vidal sat out last week with a neck injury.

Houston Texans WR Justin Watson (calf) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 29.
Footballguys view: Watson went on injured reserve Sept. 17 after injuring a calf muscle/Achilles' tendon in the Week 2 loss to the Buccaneers. He returned to practice Dec. 10. Watson, a former fifth-round pick of the Bucs, has three catches for 30 yards on four targets in two games.

Minnesota Vikings DT Elijah Williams (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 29.
Link to storyWashington Commanders OT Laremy Tunsil (oblique) is still unable to do some things because of his oblique injury, so his availability for Week 18 is uncertain, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Link to storyAtlanta Falcons practice squad WR Chris Blair was elevated to the active roster Monday, Dec. 29, and will be available for the Week 17 game.
Link to storyWashington Commanders C Tyler Biadasz (ankle, knee) is unlikely to play in Week 18 because of his ankle and knee injuries, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Biadasz will not need surgery on either injury.
Link to storyWashington Commanders QB Marcus Mariota (hand, quadriceps) seems like a long shot to play in Week 18 but has not been ruled out at this point, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Footballguys view: Josh Johnson, who started against the Cowboys, is likely to make another start against the Eagles this week. It's a tough matchup under normal circumstances, but the Eagles have yet to decide their approach with a playoff bye and homefield advantage no longer possible for them. The Eagles will be either the No. 2 seed or the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs. Their approach could make a difference for the Commanders' outlook in this one. We'll follow up on that -- and on Mariota -- as needed.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Josh Williams was waived Monday, Dec. 29.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson (calf) has not been ruled out of the Week 18 game at this time, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Footballguys view: To be clear, Schottenheimer said if players are healthy, they will play Sunday. It remains to be seen if Ferguson will be healthy enough to hit the field against the Giants. Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford are next men up at the position if Ferguson isn't available. We'll monitor this one throughout the week.
Dallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams (shoulder) has not been ruled out of the Week 18 game at this time, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Footballguys view: Williams was able to max out all of his contract incentives for the year in Week 17, but he couldn't finish the game due to his nagging shoulder injury. By keeping him sidelined for the Week 18 finale against the Giants, Williams will be a free agent after the season, so getting a longer look at Malik Davis, who recorded 103 yards on Christmas Day, might be wise, especially after rookies Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah failed to make an impact. We'll be watching for more.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will play in the Week 18 game, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Footballguys view: The Cowboys enter Week 18 with nothing to play for but pride and NFL draft position. Still, Prescott has been adamant that he wants to finish out the season on the field. On Monday, Schottenheimer made it clear that the plan for Prescott is unchanged. Although the coach did not completely close the door on backup quarterback Joe Milton III suiting up against the Giants, Prescott will get the start. Entering the finale, Prescott leads the league in passing and has an opportunity to finish as the league's passing yards leader for the first time in his professional career.

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson's (back) availability for Week 18 is uncertain at this point, but head coach John Harbaugh said the team will know more about his status in a few days.
Footballguys view: Jackson missed Saturday's game against the Packers, but Harbaugh said there were some signs last week that Jackson was starting to get better. FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer reported the same Sunday, suggesting the tightness in Jackson's bruised back loosened up over the weekend. Whatever the case, Harbaugh said that whether Jackson is ready to go will ultimately be decided not by him but by the team's medical staff. Stay tuned. The Ravens-Steelers winner on Sunday night will capture the AFC North title and secure a No. 4 seed in the playoffs. The loser heads home for the season.

Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) is considered day-to-day because of his knee injury, according to head coach Dan Campbell.
Footballguys view: Campbell said the knee injury is only part of what St. Brown is dealing with, although it's not a long-term problem. If St. Brown can't play this week, it would be only the third game he's missed in his five seasons and the first since Week 5 of the 2023 season. But if he's healthy, Campbell's comments suggest he'll be on the field Sunday against Chicago, since the best players will play. Having St. Brown play gives Detroit its best chance to finish the season on a positive note, with four straight winning seasons, even though they missed the playoffs.

Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy's status for Week 18 remains up in the air.
Footballguys view: McCarthy missed the team's Christmas win over the Lions with a hairline fracture to his left, non-throwing hand. Coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters Monday that McCarthy is "progressing" and that there's less swelling in the hand than there was leading into last Thursday's game. O'Connell said that McCarthy's grip strength will be the determining factor in his ability to play against the Packers this week and that the team will have a better idea where he's at on that front later in the week. Max Brosmer will get another start if McCarthy can't go.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith (ankle) may have a hard time to recover from his injury before the Week 18 game, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
Footballguys view: Carroll characterized the injury as a high-ankle sprain in his post-game press conference. That puts Kenny Pickett in line to start against the Chiefs, with the Raiders' first overall pick on the line, with Aidan O'Connell or rookie Cam Miller standing by behind him. Bigger picture, Smith, who has a $26.5 million cap hit in 2026, may have played his last snap in Vegas. Remember, the team can release him to save $8 million with an $18.5 million dead cap hit. Regardless, we'll be watching for more on that.

Los Angeles Rams CB Roger McCreary (hip) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 29.
Link to storyAndy Reid isn't planning on riding off into the sunset after Week 18. Reid is wrapping up his 13th season as the head coach of the Chiefs, and he said on Monday that he's looking forward to No. 14. "I think I'm coming back, right?" Reid said, via Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com. "If they'll have me back, I'll come back. You never know in this business; that's a tough one. But I plan on it, yeah."
Footballguys view: The Chiefs made the playoffs for 10 straight seasons before falling short of the postseason this year. That run included five trips to the Super Bowl in the last six years, so it's hard to imagine the Chiefs are going to be clamoring to push Reid out the door because of one unsuccessful season. As PFT's Josh Alper noted, the team may be saying farewell to tight end Travis Kelce and other players who had a hand in that long run of success. Still, the return of Reid to the sidelines and a return to health for quarterback Patrick Mahomes provide reason to think that the team can find its way back to the postseason.
New England Patriots OT Will Campbell (knee) may have his 21-day practice window opened this week, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: Campbell has been sidelined by a knee injury. A return to practice will open a 21-day window to activate Campbell, so he would be able to return for the playoffs even if the Patriots don't take him off of injured reserve ahead of their Week 18 game against the Dolphins.
Free-agent QB Seth Henigan (Jaguars) was signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad Monday, Dec. 29.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers DE Micah Parsons (knee) is scheduled to undergo surgery Monday, Dec. 29, to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Footballguys view: Parsons posted a snapshot of himself in a hospital gown to his Instagram story on Monday morning with the caption "see y'all soon, love y'all." He tore his ACL in the team's Week 15 loss to the Broncos. As Profootballtalk.com noted, surgery is a significant first step, but that rehab process is expected to run into the summer, and it will be some time before there's a concrete timeline for Parsons' return to full football activities.

Chicago Bears LB Noah Sewell (Achilles') is believed to have suffered a torn Achilles' in Week 17. He'll undergo testing Monday, Dec. 29, to confirm.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow will start in the Week 18 season finale against the Cleveland Browns.
Footballguys view: Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed the news, telling reporters that Burrow gives the team the best chance to win. Burrow missed most of this season with a toe injury before returning to lead the team to a win on Thanksgiving. He played one of the worst games of his career two weeks later, but has rebounded with 614 yards and six touchdowns in back-to-back wins in the last two games to give the Bengals a chance to finish the season with a three-game win streak. It's not much, but it's a positive note to build on.

New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart is no doubt a franchise quarterback, according to interim head coach Mike Kafka.
Footballguys view: After the Giants defeated the Raiders 34-10 on Sunday, Dart was asked about a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that said the Giants would have been open to selecting a quarterback, most likely Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, if they lost to the Raiders and secured the first pick in the draft. Dart, who has completed 194 of 307 passes (63.2%) for 2,042 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions (he's also run for nine touchdowns), exceeded expectations. But it remains to be seen who'll be running the Giants in 2026 -- and how they view Dart.
Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III (quadriceps) will undergo testing Monday, Dec. 29, but his quadriceps injury is not believed to be serious.
Footballguys view: Burden will undergo additional testing today. But even assuming he has avoided a serious injury, the expectation is that the Bears will rest the rookie for their regular-season finale against the Lions, with the hopes of him returning in the wild-card round of the playoffs. The belief is that top wideout Rome Odunze, who's missed the last few games due to a foot injury, will also be ready in time for the postseason.
Chicago Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds had nine tackles, including a team-high seven solo, in a Week 17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Buffalo Bills LB Matt Milano had a team-high seven tackles (four solo) and a half sack in a Week 17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr. recorded a team-high seven tackles (two solo) versus the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Tez Johnson caught two passes (on two targets) for 19 yards in a Week 17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Link to storyChicago Bears QB Caleb Williams completed 25 of his 42 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 18 yards on five carries in a 42-38 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17.
Footballguys view: As NFL.com suggested, the Bears were able to compete in a shootout because Williams delivered repeated big plays. He connected on massive throws from the pocket (Luther Burden III's 35-yard first-quarter TD), waited patiently to strike a deep-ball touchdown to Colston Loveland on a free play, and had the Bears in position to pull off another late-game comeback before his final pass fell short. Williams delivered a career high with four completions on passes thrown 20 or more yards downfield. His 23 fantasy points in this made him QB7 through Sunday's games.
Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift rushed nine times for 54 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 24 yards in a 42-38 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com notes, Swift made the most of his opportunities against the 49ers on Sunday Night Football. He averaged 6.0 yards per carry while scoring multiple rushing touchdowns for the second time over his last three starts. Swift became the first Bear with 1,000 rushing yards in a season since David Montgomery in 2020 -- Swift's rookie season with Detroit, where Montgomery now plays. For the record, Swift continued to share backfield duties with Kyle Monangai (11 touches for 47 yards). Both are viable fantasy options against the Lions in Week 18.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 23 times for 140 yards and a touchdown in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears, while adding four receptions for 41 yards on six targets.
Footballguys view: McCaffrey continues to put together a season to remember as his 181 scrimmage yards and one TD Sunday pushed him into elite company. McCaffrey joined Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson as the only players in NFL history to have three seasons with at least 2,000 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns. McCaffrey's 28.1 fantasy points made him RB3 through the Sunday night game.
Christian McCaffrey player page
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy completed 24-of-33 passes for 303 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears, while running six times for 28 yards and a pair of scores.
Footballguys view: Purdy followed his career-high five TD-pass performance last week against Indianapolis by throwing for three scores and running for two to become the sixth player since the AFL-NFL merger with back-to-back games with at least five touchdowns. His 36.9 fantasy points made him QB1 on the week through Sunday. Purdy has averaged 33.9 points per game over the last two outings.
Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III (hamstring) was carted off after suffering a left hamstring injury on the final play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17. Burden had eight catches for 138 yards and a touchdown in the 42-38 loss.
Footballguys view: Burden tried to walk off the field but fell to the ground. After attempting to walk off the field with trainers, Burden was carted to the locker room. According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, Burden was seen grabbing his left hamstring, making his way in for an X-ray after the game at Levi's Stadium. We'll be watching for more.
Cleveland Browns S Grant Delpit had eight tackles, including a team-high seven solo, and a sack in a Week 17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
