Saints | NO releasing Josh Adams Wed May 11, 01:10 PM
New Orleans Saints RB Josh Adams is set to be released, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Wednesday, May 11.
Footballguys view: With the addition of Abram Smith (Baylor) as a priority free agent after the draft, the Saints could comfortably move on from Adams. The big-bodied veteran could find a new landing spot with a team in need of a power back. He flashed a bit years ago with the Eagles (2018) but has bounced around to a few teams since then. |

The New Orleans Saints signed RB Josh Adams and WR Kirk Merritt to Reserve/Future contracts Monday, Jan. 24. Terms of the deals were undisclosed.
Footballguys view: In crazy deep dynasty formats we will still watch Adams. He's a big back who can grind down a defense. Adams plays a little bit like Gus Edwards (Ravens), so you know some fantasy value is there. He's a long shot to be sure, but we'll stubbornly keep watching Adams as he continues to bounce around the league. |

Free-agent RB Josh Adams (Jets) was signed to the New Orleans Saints' practice squad Wednesday, Nov. 10.
Footballguys view: Adams is a big-bodied back who can live between the tackles. With Alvin Kamara (knee) banged up, the Saints are adding another back to the room behind Mark Ingram. |

The New York Jets have declared RB La'Mical Perine, CB Jason Pinnock, DT Jonathan Marshall, RB Josh Adams, LB Quincy Williams and WR Keelan Cole inactive for Week 1.
Footballguys view: Denzel Mims should get on the field in three wide sets with Cole and Jamison Crowder out. Ty Johnson, Tevin Coleman, and Michael Carter are the three active running backs. |

New York Jets RB Josh Adams was released Tuesday, Aug. 31.
Footballguys view: Adams is a poor man's version of Gus Edwards, and the Jets decided they didn't need that on the final roster. The Jets have a backfield that contains Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson, Michael Carter, and La'Mical Perine so it was tough for Adams to break through. Carter is the player that excites us the most from that group because of his big-play ability. |

New York Jets RB Josh Adams is expected to be a candidate for the starting running back job during training camp and likely will have a solid role in the offense even if he does not win the starting job.
Footballguys view: Adams has some Gus Edwards to his game. He's not going to get the opportunity like Edwards will/does with the Ravens, but Adams has more talent than some think. He's a powerful back who can win at the point of contact and could be a power option for the Jets backfield. They don't have a set starter or lead back, but guys like veterans Tevin Coleman/Ty Johnson and rookie Michael Carter should get most of the work. Adams could get on the field near pay dirt because of his size and intent. |

Impending free-agent RB Josh Adams (Jets) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract to return to the New York Jets on Monday, March 15. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: Adams is a big-bodied power back who can grind between the tackles. Expect the Jets to add a running back in the draft, but Adams will be in the mix for their RBBC in 2021. |

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold completed 23-of-34 passes for 266 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 17 against the New England Patriots. RB Josh Adams led the way with 11 runs for 47 yards and a score, while RB Ty Johnson ran 11 times for 45 yards. WR Breshad Perriman led the way with 84 yards on three receptions, while WR Jamison Crowder ended up with four receptions for 31 yards on his four targets. WR Braxton Berrios rushed twice for 16 yards and had three catches for 20 yards. WR Denzel Mims had just one grab for 15 yards on two targets. S Marcus Maye ended his season with 10 tackles, including one for loss.
Footballguys view: The Jets will be in the market for a new head coach, and maybe a new quarterback since they have the #2 pick. Sam Darnold's fate will be one of the most compelling stories of the offseason. |

New York Jets S Ashtyn Davis (foot), S Bennett Jackson (hamstring), LB Jordan Jenkins (shoulder), WR Denzel Mims (non-injury) and OG Greg Van Roten (toe) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. WR Jamison Crowder (calf) did not practice Friday, Dec. 11, while OL Pat Elflein (shoulder, ankle) was limited in practice all week; both players are listed as questionable. RB Frank Gore (concussion, non-injury) was upgraded to a full practice but is also listed as questionable. RB Ty Johnson (knee) was added to the injury report but practiced in full Friday; he is expected to play. WR Breshad Perriman (shoulder), RB Josh Adams (calf), OL George Fant (knee), P Braden Mann (foot), S Marcus Maye (rib) and OG Connor McGovern (back, hamstring) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
Footballguys view: Crowder will be a game time decision, but he has a late afternoon start and didn't practice after suffering a calf injury in practice yesterday. He's probably not worth waiting for. If he can't go, Braxton Berrios will have some desperation play value in the slot and Breshad Perriman will have a chance to be a target hog. We should know more about Crowder and Gore when the Jets fly to Seattle tomorrow. |

New York Jets RB Josh Adams was signed off the practice squad Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Footballguys view: Adams has playing experience from his time with the Eagles and he's your standard power back who makes a living between the tackles. With LaMical Perine down with a high-ankle sprain, the Jets needed more depth on the roster. Adams is the no.3 running back behind Frank Gore and Ty Johnson. |

New York Jets RB Josh Adams (hamstring) and LB Patrick Onwuasor left practice early Saturday, Aug. 22, because of injuries.
Footballguys view: Onwuasor is one of many bidding for snaps at inside linebacker. Adams saw his prospects for playing time dim when the Jets signed Frank Gore, but he is still a practice squad or end of the roster candidate. |

The New York Jets added free-agents RB Josh Adams (Eagles), OL Calvin Anderson, OG Benjamin Braden, CB Kyron Brown, QB Luke Falk, LB Jamey Mosley, WR Jeff Smith and RB Valentine Holmes to their practice squad Sunday, Sept. 1.
Footballguys view: The Jets have a jam-packed RB corps but we'll still monitor Josh Adams in super deep dynasty formats. Adams is your classic banger and can grind down opponents as the game goes on. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams was waived Saturday, Aug. 31.
Footballguys view: The Eagles have a cramped backfield with Jordan Howard as the lead back and rookie Miles Sanders in the mix. Adams had 511 yards last year as an undrafted rookie and might latch on with a new team in search of a power back. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams (shoulder) was part of the running back rotation during practice Thursday, July 25.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams won't be asked to change his running style, according to assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley. 'Hell no. Nah, Josh is who he is. I like him, too. Once again, competitive runner, another good running back that's in our room. You go back and you watch some of the film last year, Josh was out there, he really picked it up,' Staley said. 'He was able to step right in and be starter.'
Footballguys view: Adams was the team's leading rusher in 2018 as an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame. He is a big back with a swift running style who makes a living between the tackles. Adams does not stand out as a pass-catcher and may struggle to earn a spot on the 53-man roster this season. |
Josh Adams player page
Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams could very well be on the outside looking in when final cuts are announced given his overall lack of versatility, in the opinion of NBC Sports Philadelphia's Reuben Frank.
Footballguys view: Adams is a between the tackles pounder, but his lack of other uses will make it hard for him to make the team. He has a future in the NFL and looked like he belonged last year, so if he can't make the cut, we shouldn't forget about him wherever he ends up landing. The addition of Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders probably cost him his spot. |

Philadelphia Eagles RBs Wendell Smallwood, Josh Adams, Boston Scott and Donnel Pumphrey are likely competing for the team's fourth and final backfield spot, in the opinion of NJ.com's Mike Kaye. The three likely locks are RBs Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders and Corey Clement.
Footballguys view: The Eagles have an interesting mix of the four backs likely competing for one spot. Adams is your classic banger who got some work for them last year down the stretch. Smallwood has the experience edge and is an all-purpose back who can be used as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. We'll see how this competition shakes out in training camp. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams (shoulder) will miss the start of offseason workouts due to recovery from shoulder surgery.
Footballguys view: He underwent surgery on his labrum in January and has a six-month timetable. Adams has a jam-packed depth chart to work his way through when healthy. The Eagles traded for Jordan Howard this offseason and may take another running back in the 2019 NFL draft. |

Philadelphia Eagles RB Josh Adams lack of involvement during the postseason is a sign that he has 'fallen out of favor' with the coaching staff, according to Andrew Kulp of CSNPhilly.com, and Kulp expects the Eagles to part ways with Adams this offseason.
Footballguys view: Adams had some moments in his short stint atop the depth chart and looked like no mere UDFA. He should catch on another roster if he let go, but his fantasy upside is limited by his lack of involvement in the passing game. |
