Jaguars | Jace Amaro meeting with Jacksonville Mon Sep 10, 01:57 PM
Free-agent TE Jace Amaro (Chiefs) is working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, Sept. 10.
Footballguys view: Amaro has never done much through his stops in the NFL. He's not much of a blocker but some team might want to take a chance on him due to his ability as a receiver.

Free-agent TE Jace Amaro (Titans) was signed to a Reserve/Future contract by the Kansas City Chiefs Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Footballguys view: A second-round pick of the Jets in 2014, Amaro was supposed to be a mismatch 'move' tight end coming out of Texas Tech. Instead of taking the league by storm, Amaro's career has fell incredibly short of his potential. Amaro was with the Titans in 2016 and was waived at final cuts in 2017. He's a longshot to make the 53-man roster for the Chiefs.

Free-agent TEs Jace Amaro (Titans), Devon Cajuste (Packers) and Gavin Escobar (Ravens) recently worked out for the Chicago Bears, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Bears are just updating their emergency list here. In a few weeks, NFL teams will be signing players to futures contracts. Perhaps one of these TEs could be one of those players for the Bears.

Tennessee Titans TE Jace Amaro, TE Jerome Cunningham, QB Tyler Ferguson, WR Darius Jennings, WR Jonathan Krause, WR KeVonn Mabon, WR Tre McBride, RB Khalfani Muhammad, WR Giovanni Pascascio, RB Brandon Radcliff, TE Tim Semisch and WR Eric Weems Saturday, Sept. 2. The team also waived/injured FB Joe Bacci (undisclosed) and RB Akeem Judd (undisclosed).
Footballguys view: A second-round pick (2014) by the Jets, Amaro has been held back as a pro due to injury and inconsistency. He's a name player who could find a home, but we're not expecting much no matter where he lands.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans Sunday, Sept. 4, according to a source.
Footballguys view: It's an interesting landing spot for the athletic tight end. Amaro could play as a move TE behind Delanie Walker. Like Walker, Amaro could line up outside the hashmark as a receiver. In order to stick in the NFL, Amaro will have to show the ability to stay healthy and improve his concentration as a pass-catcher.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was released Saturday, Sept. 3, according to sources.
Footballguys view: A second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Amaro did not impress as a rookie. He missed all of last season due to a shoulder injury. The Jets don't have a great group of TEs, but they'd seen enough from Amaro this preseason. We'll see if Amaro can do something with a second chance that he'll surely get.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (groin) is on the final roster bubble, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. Costello believes TE Kellen Davis is the only player at the position who has secured a roster spot. TEs Zach Sudfeld and Brandon Bostick are also in contention.
Footballguys view: We've said this for a while. There was brief hope this summer when he came into OTAs and had worked with Brandon Marshall to improve his catching. Since then, though, he has struggled to hold onto the ball. The front office which drafted him is gone, so this GM and coach have no reason to keep him around. We don't see the Jets as a team which produces fantasy tight ends worth rostering anyway, so no matter who is there on the roster, they shouldn't be on yours.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro's highlights during practice Friday, Aug. 5, included a deep catch down the seam in double coverage and a touchdown in the red zone.
Footballguys view: Amaro is reviving his career after his first two seasons were almost a total loss. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey should be a good fit for Amaro's receiving ability if he can stay healthy and play consistently. The Jets don't have a quality third receiving option, so Amaro could carve out a role for himself.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) missed the entire 2015 season after shoulder surgery, but he has stood out during the early days of training camp making a lot of catches while serving as a noticeable target in red-zone drills. Last season WR Quincy Enunwa emerged as a hybrid receiver/tight end, and that might be whom Amaro is fighting for reps this year.
Footballguys view: Amaro might not muster true fantasy relevance this year unless one of Brandon Marshall or Eric Decker go down, but this is good news for his dynasty stock. He was pure receiving tight end at Texas Tech - even a big slot, so his contributions will be as a receiver if he can get on the field.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro is the projected starter for the Jets after he missed all of last year with a shoulder injury. He has worked hard on his blocking and believes he's improved in that area. However, he must earn the trust of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and head coach Todd Bowles. The Jets tight ends combined for just eight catches on 23 targets in 2015.
Footballguys view: Amaro seems to be in another make-or-break year. He's physically talented, but that potential has never translated to production in the NFL. We can't imagine he gets more than 30 or so catches this year if he stays healthy. There's just not much there with Amaro.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro has put much effort into making himself a better blocker this offseason, according to tight ends coach Jimmie Johnson. 'You can see that he's put a lot of effort into trying to improve that part of his game,' Johnson said.
Footballguys view: Amaro is in a make-or-break year for the Jets...but it seems like he's in one of those every year. He's a tease for fantasy owners because he has the natural skill set to produce at a higher level than he has, but Amaro has never played up to his potential. He's at the top of the TE depth chart for the Jets, but we can't trust him as anything more than a low-end TE3 for fantasy owners.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro will have to compete for a roster spot during training camp, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said he has not seen Amaro play since he missed the entire 2015 season.
Footballguys view: That's the cold reality of the NFL. It stands for "Not For Long" for a reason. A second-round pick out of Texas Tech in 2014, Amaro had a lackluster rookie season and then missed all of his sophomore season. It's most definitely a make-or-break year for the athletic tight end.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro said he expects to be more involved in the passing game in 2016. Amaro said he believes he can be a traditional tight end, while head coach Todd Bowles said the Jets see him as an H-back.
Footballguys view: It seems like we've heard this before...because we have. Amaro is in a make-or-break season this year with the Jets. With only Kellen Davis and Zach Sudfeld behind him on the depth chart, Amaro is the lead player at the position. If he caught more than 35 passes this year, we'd be shocked.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is doing well in his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery and should be fully healthy for the 2016 season.
Footballguys view: Cool....now can he stay healthy? His rookie season in 2014 was a disappointment as Amaro struggled with drops. His second season was cut short in the preseason opener with this shoulder injury that he's still recovering from. Needless to say, 2016 is a make-or-break year for the young TE.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) has teammates that are skeptical he will be effective in the league. Amaro's rehab has gone well from surgery to repair a torn labrum, but he'll have to impress offensive coordinator Chan Gailey after he was buried on the depth chart last season.
Footballguys view: Amaro has to prove that he can stay healthy and play up to his natural potential. He's got the speed and athleticism to be a playmaker, but we haven't seen him consistently produce. You could label 2016 as a make-or-break season for the young TE.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) will have season-ending shoulder surgery and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
Footballguys view: You have to assume that this could be the end of his time with the Jets, as nobody on the coaching staff or front office have any real attachment to him and head coach Todd Bowles was vocally disappointed with his lack of improvement. Amaro should be a good move tight end, but he has struggled with focus and drops. Jeff Cumberland will get starts, but he's no more than a low-end TE3.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro may be on the hot seat, as he is listed as the third tight end on the official depth chart behind Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) is considered week to week with a shoulder sprain. Amaro had an MRI Saturday, Aug. 15, and head coach Todd Bowles thinks Amaro will be limited in the preseason.

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) was not at practice Saturday, Aug. 15. Amaro injured his shoulder in the Jets' first preseason game. It is unclear how long he will be out.
Footballguys view: Amaro has not generated much buzz entering his second year in the league. He's hard to recommend as even an upside TE2 until we hear something good about him.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury against the Detroit Lions in a preseason game Thursday, Aug.13.
Footballguys view: Amaro was ruled out of the game pretty quickly, which is not comforting. He hasn't generated the buzz we want to hear coming from the situation around highly-drafted second-year players. Amaro is only an speculative TE2 for deep or TE premium leagues, and not a viable one until this injury situation is cleared up.

Updating an earlier report, New York Jets TE Jace Amaro was placed as the third tight end on the team's depth chart, but offensive coordinator Chan Gailey said not to read much into it. Amaro will serve as the H-back, and there isn't a separate place on the depth chart for his position.
Footballguys view: Alright, alright we get it. Let's not read too much into the initial depth chart, but it does give us an idea of where Amaro is at in the pecking order.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro is listed as the third tight end on the team's first depth chart.
Footballguys view: It's just not happening for Amaro. He's got an athletic skill set, but he's not showing the toughness needed to play football. We'll see if Amaro can turn it around as camp goes on.
Jace Amaro player page
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro had no reception in team drills Thursday, July 30.
Footballguys view: Amaro is quite the athlete, and his skill set should be a nice fit in the Chan Gailey offense. He's a wait-and-see tight end for fantasy owners to consider.
