Kansas City Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown (ankle) was carted off the field during the team's training camp practice on Tuesday, July 29.
Footballguys view: Teams have been pretty liberal with their usage of carts this offseason. However, reports are that Brown avoided serious injury. He hopes to get back on the field soon after losing almost all of last year to a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. |

The Kansas City Chiefs topped the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game, advancing to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. QB Patrick Mahomes completed 18-of-26 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, while running 11 times for 43 yards and two scores and a lost fumble. RB Kareem Hunt had 17 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown, while RB Isiah Pacheco ran five times for 12 yards with two receptions for 12 yards. WR Xavier Worthy added six receptions for a game-high 85 yards and a touchdown, while rushing twice for 16 yards. WR JuJu Smith-Schuster was good for two receptions and 60 yards, while WR Marquise Brown had three snags for 35 yards on five targets. TE Travis Kelce was fairly quiet with just two catches and 19 yards on four targets, while WR DeAndre Hopkins had a single 11-yard grab on two targets. CB Chamarri Conner and LB Drue Tranquill each had nine total tackles.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com noted, Mahomes had one of his better games of the season. He mostly threw quick passes and was much sharper with them than in the Divisional Round victory over the Texans. The Bills were effective in eliminating Mahomes as a runner when the teams met in the regular season in Week 11, holding him without a carry. But Mahomes' running was a significant factor in this game. He not only scored twice but converted on a run on fourth down in the second quarter, which kept a drive alive for the Chiefs that turned into their second touchdown. Meanwhile, a week after his big divisional game against the Texans, Kelce was quiet. Fortunately, the wideouts showed p. Now the Chiefs will have two weeks to prepare to take on the Eagles and attempt to deliver a "Three-Peat" in New Orleans. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown finished with four receptions on 46 yards at the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 on Wednesday, Dec. 25. He was targeted seven times.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs are acclimating Brown to the lineup over the last couple of weeks. They have wrapped up the AFC's no.1 seed, so the Chiefs may rest their starters for a half (maybe more?) in Week 18 against the Broncos. |

With Week 16's game against the Houston Texans on the horizon, the Kansas City Chiefs are making a much-anticipated move to bring back a key piece of their offense. After an extended absence stemming from a sternoclavicular injury suffered in the preseason, wide receiver Marquise Brown is back from the injured reserve list, per an announcement from the team.
Footballguys view: On Thursday morning, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that Kansas City planned to activate Brown if the day's practice went well and there were no setbacks. Brown now takes the roster spot of running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who was waived earlier in the week and has since signed with the New Orleans Saints. Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, head coach Andy Reid acknowledged that there was a "good chance" Brown would play this weekend. That he will play for the Chiefs doesn't necessarily mean fantasy managers should be forcing him into lineups. A wait-and-see approach would be best. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) was a full participant in practice all week and no longer appears on the injury report for Week 16 against the Houston Texans.
Footballguys view: As expected, Brown will be out there against the Texans in Week 16. It's his first game of the season, so we'll take a wait-and-see approach with Brown. When he's up to speed, Brown could inject a lot of much-needed energy into the Chiefs passing game. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (chest) has 'a chance' to play in Week 16 against the Houston Texans, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Footballguys view: Reid said at his Tuesday press conference that Brown "felt good" and "moved around well" during his first practice session. Of course, the biggest question in Kansas City is whether QB Patrick Mahomes can play through a mild high-ankle sprain or if Carson Wentz will get the start. Either way, Brown seems like a risky start if he plays this week. Tha said, he could be a limiting factor for the pieces we're more interested in, like DeAndre Hopkins and Xavier Worthy. We'll follow up as needed, right up through Saturday's kickoff if necessary. |

Ian Rapoport, from NFL Network, reports Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) is expected to return for the playoffs. Brown is 'likely to play in the regular season at some point' per the report.
Footballguys view: Hollywood Brown is expected to get worked into the mix near the end of the regular season. Reports indicate that his shoulder has responded well to surgery, and he could be a not-so-secret weapon for the Chiefs offense as they look to win three Super Bowls in a row. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) was designated to return from the Reserve/Injured list, according to sources Friday, Dec. 13.
Footballguys view: Brown isn't worth a pickup, but he could enhance Patrick Mahomes value by Week 17 as the Chiefs try to hold onto the #1 seed in the AFC. Keep Brown's return in mind when putting together playoff best ball and playoff rankings. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) is making good progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery, head coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Footballguys view: Brown was not expected to play for the rest of 2024 as he recovered from this shoulder injury. After surgery, Brown was expected to be back in January. That means he could be available for the Chiefs as they get ready for another deep postseason run. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) is not expected to play for the remainder of the 2024 season, per sources on Saturday, Sept. 14.
Footballguys view: This isn't a surprising development, given the nature of the injury. With Brown essentially done for the year, Xavier Worthy's opportunities will increase. With the rookie wideout coming off a two-touchdown NFL debut, more playing time will be precisely what his investors want. |

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (chest) will need 'months not weeks' to recover from his upcoming surgery to repair a dislocated sternoclavicular joint, according to head coach Andy Reid on Friday, Sept. 13.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) will undergo surgery to repair his dislocated SC joint and is expected to go on the Reserve/Injured list, according to sources Friday, Sept. 13.
Footballguys view: Brown is unlikely to play this year and can be dropped in redraft leagues. This helps boost the value of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Travis Kelce should get more targets in theory, but his Week 1 was underwhelming. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) is not practicing Thursday, Sept. 12.
Footballguys view: Friday is the big day to check Brown's status, but it looks like he'll be missing another week for the Chiefs. Without Brown (again), the Chiefs will look to Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy at the wide receiver position. We'll see if there are some more looks for WR Justin Watson as well. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Footballguys view: Brown didn't play in Week 1, and this week is not off to a great start. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy should do most of the heavy lifting (at the wide receiver position) against the Bengals. |

Andy Reid on Hollywood Brown's chances of playing on Sunday against the Bengals: "He's getting close. I know he's feeling better."
Footballguys view: Brown did not practice at all last week before sitting out the opener against Baltimore. Three wide receivers caught passes with Brown sitting out the opener. Rashee Rice led Chiefs wideouts with seven catches for 103 yards, rookie Xavier Worthy caught two passes, including a touchdown, and Justin Watson had one catch. But it appears Brown's recovery from the shoulder injury he suffered in the team's first preseason game has progressed to the point where he has a chance to return. We'll continue to watch for more. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) is expected to return to practice next week and may be available for the Week 2 game.
Footballguys view: Rashee Rice might not get quite the same target share and Xavier Worthy will have more competition for downfield targets, but this whole offense could take on another downfield passing dimension with Brown and make the whole passing pie bigger against the Bengals if Brown can return. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) did not practice once again on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and has officially been ruled out for Week 1.
Footballguys view: Without Brown in the lineup, the Chiefs will look elsewhere for a downfield target. That could be rookie WR Xavier Worthy, and we like the speedster as a flex play with upside in Week 1. |

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) could return in Week 2.
Footballguys view: Brown suffered a sternoclavicular dislocation -- an injury more commonly associated with vehicular accidents than football -- during Kansas City's preseason opener against Jacksonville, requiring a trip to the hospital for further evaluation. The short week leading up to Thursday's game will give Brown a few extra days between the first two games. We'll see if that is enough to get him back onto the field. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) is not expected to play in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Footballguys view: Rashee Rice is a strong WR2 with Brown sitting and Xavier Worthy is a more tempting WR3/Flex with upside. The Baltimore defense is no slouch, so the Chiefs could have used their free agent acquisition, but he won't be available in Week 1. The good news is that since this is not a soft tissue injury, Brown should be at full speed when he does return, which could be Week 2 vs. Cincinnati. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (chest) is expected to miss four to six weeks with the sternoclavicular injury he suffered in the preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 10.
Footballguys view: Assuming he'll miss a significant amount of time, the question is how the Chiefs replace Brown. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said the team wants the veteran speedster back as soon as possible but expressed confidence that "we've got the guys to do it" until Brown is ready to play. The first guy who will be getting a chance to play more is Justin Watson and Nagy said that the team doesn't feel a need to change much due to the injury. Watson had 42 catches for 775 yards and five touchdowns in 33 regular season games for the Chiefs the last two years. He added nine catches for 120 yards in the postseason. |

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (shoulder) was hospitalized after sustaining a sternoclavicular joint dislocation in the preseason game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, Aug. 10. Head coach Andy Reid said the injury was similar to one suffered by former Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill in the 2019 regular-season opener, which caused Hill to be sidelined for four games.

Receiver Hollywood Brown was taken to a local hospital for further examination after his shoulder injury Saturday night, coach Andy Reid said via Jordan Foote of SI.com. Brown was diagnosed with a sternoclavicular joint dislocation, the same injury Tyreek Hill had in 2019. Hill also went to the hospital after being injured in the opener that season and returned in Week 6.
Footballguys view: At the very least, Brown's availability for the season opener is in jeopardy. Footballguy injury analyst Adam Hutchison wouldn't be surprised if Brown ends up on IR to start the year. We'll follow up on this as needed. For now, it would appear to open the door to a greater role for rookie speedster Xavier Worthy. |
