Seahawks | Olu Oluwatimi back at practice Sun Aug 17, 03:59 PM
Seattle Seahawks C Olu Oluwatimi (back) returned to practice on Sunday, Aug. 17.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III (foot) returned to practice Sunday, Aug. 17.
Footballguys view: This is reassuring if you are targeting Walker near his Footballguys consensus ADP of RB16 and 43 overall. He has the ability to produce more like a second round pick if he can say on the field, but last year he played in a career low 11 games. Zach Charbonnet's ADP is rising, and it's getting more expensive to hedge Walker's injury risk. Both backs have the potential to lift fantasy teams that invest in them. |
Seattle Seahawks WR Tory Horton (ankle) did not practice Sunday, Aug. 17. He left the preseason game Friday, Aug. 15 due to a minor ankle injury.
Link to storyThe Houston Texans acquired TE Harrison Bryant and a fifth-round draft pick from the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Aug. 17, in exchange for WR John Metchie and a sixth-round draft pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles acquired WR John Metchie and a sixth-round draft pick from the Houston Texans on Sunday, Aug. 17, for TE Harrison Bryant and a fifth-round pick.
Footballguys view: The Texans were willing to give up draft capital for an experienced tight end after Brevin Jordan went down in camp. They have Dalton Schultz and 2024 fourth round pick Cade Stover, who is having a great camp at tight end, so Houston might be signaling that they will have a lot of sets with two tight ends. The Eagles have a glut of tight ends and always are looking for an upgrade to their bench wide receiver spots, and Metchie might be that. |
Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson wants a long-term deal with the team, but the two sides are believed to be far apart. The Bengals are believed to be entertaining trade offers, and the Cleveland Browns have inquired about his availability.
Footballguys view: Surely the Browns aren't the only team that would be interested in trading for the 2024 sack leader. The Bengals have probably softened their trade terms now that it appears nothing is going to happen with Hendrickson, so we should be open to Hendrickson getting moved soon. Hendrickson might even be open to playing under the last year of his deal if he goes to a contender and gets a raise. |

Updating a previous report, former University of Texas WR Isaiah Bond arrived in Northeast Ohio on Saturday, Aug. 16, and he was expected to sign a three-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. As of Sunday, Aug. 17, no deal had been signed. If he does sign, he might practice as soon as Monday, Aug. 18.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Kenny Pickett (hamstring) will hopefully be able to play in the team's preseason finale. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday, Aug. 17, that he is 'hopeful' Pickett will increase practice participation this week, but the quarterback is considered 'day to day'.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders (oblique) might be able to increase his participation in practice this week. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sunday, Aug. 17, that he is 'hopeful' the rookie quarterback can ramp things up, but for now, he is 'day to day'.
Footballguys view: Sanders had built some momentum before the injury. Joe Flacco is likely going to start Week 1 with Kenny Pickett also nursing an injury after he had a good start to camp, but where it goes from there is anyone's guess. Flacco took the Browns to the playoffs in 2023 and created fantasy champions along the way, but he wasn't the same quarterback last year with the Colts and might not last long as the starter, so Sanders should be waiting in the wings for his opportunity. |
Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter (upper body) will not play in the preseason game versus the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Aug. 18. He had been held out of practice due to an upper body injury Friday, Aug. 15, as a precautionary measure, according to head coach Liam Coen.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (concussion) sustained a concussion on a big hit during the third play of the preseason game versus the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 16. According to head coach Jim Harbaugh, Johnston remembered the play and was able to stand under his own power before walking over to the cart that removed him from the field. He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Detroit Lions QB Kyle Allen has a slight lead over QB Hendon Hooker in the competition to serve as the team's No. 2 quarterback because Allen has played better in the team's last two preseason games, according to head coach Dan Campbell.
Footballguys view: This a terrible sign for Hooker's development heading into the third year of his career. He entered the league recovering from ACL surgery, but hasn't improved enough to two years to be better than a journeyman. His athleticism and ability to add value as a runner created some intrigue in superflex dynasty leagues, but that is waning now. He's not an essential hold. |

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Corey Kiner (ankle) will be sidelined for several weeks because of a high ankle sprain sustained in the preseason game versus the Las Vegas Raiders Saturday, Aug. 16, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Kiner was having a good summer and perhaps on track to make the team after two of the backs ahead of him went down with injuries. Last night, the 49ers lost him and Patrick Taylor. The only healthy backups on the roster now are Jeff Wilson and Ke'Shawn Vaughn, who were both recently signed. |
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Nate Herbig (hamstring) left the preseason game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first quarter Saturday, Aug. 16, due to a hamstring injury.

Link to storyBaltimore Ravens PK Tyler Loop has been named the team's official placekicker, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
Link to storyBaltimore Ravens LB Adisa Isaac (elbow) will be sidelined for several weeks after suffering a dislocated elbow in the preseason game versus the Dallas Cowboys Saturday, Aug. 16, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
Link to storyNew York Giants QB Jaxson Dart completed 14 of his 16 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score during the preseason game against the New York Jets Saturday, Aug. 16.
Footballguys view: Dart is going to start sooner than later for the Giants. He has had a strong summer, including projecting leadership in camp, and now he has carried that confidence onto the field. This isn't necessarily bad for Malik Nabers and the offense in general, because if Dart is good enough to give Russell Wilson a smaller margin of error as the early season starter and motivate the coaches to get him on the field early in his career, he might be better than we expect as a rookie. Dart should also be moving up your board in superflex leagues with the inevitability that he will start a significant number of games this season. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan (neck) was carted to the locker room after landing on his neck while attempting a catch during the preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday, Aug. 16.
Footballguys view: McMillan is set to be the #3 receiver for the Bucs to open the season with Chris Godwin likely to be on the PUP list for at least the first four games. While the team could be less aggressive passing downfield early in the season because left tackle Tristan Wirfs is going to miss time, McMillan showed a knack for the splash play last year and was at least draftable before suffering this injury. Seventh round rookie Tez Johnson has had a great spring and summer could get in with the first team in practice while McMillan is on the mend. |
Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston (neck) was down on the field for several minutes after taking a big hit during the preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 16. Johnston was eventually able to stand before being carted off.
Footballguys view: Johnston was on the field ahead of rookies Tre Harris and Keandre Lambert-Smith, and was the #2 receiver, with Keenan Allen operating as the #3. This was reported later as a concussion. We'll be monitoring for updates, but know that if healthy, Johnston is still in a big role in this passing game. |

Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring) will hopefully be able to do more things this upcoming week, but his practice participation is uncertain at this time, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Footballguys view: We continue to expect Jefferson to not practice in full until the week leading up to the season opener at Chicago. You'll have to draft him on faith that this isn't a more severe injury than the team is letting on, and that Jefferson won't suffer a setback as he reconditions to prepare for the season. His upside is more than worth it in the first, but it's reasonable to take a top three running back and CeeDee Lamb over Jefferson because of this injury. |

New England Patriots WR Efton Chism III caught six passes for 71 yards and one touchdown during the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings Saturday, Aug. 16.
Footballguys view: The undrafted rookie has produced a steady drumbeat and appears to be well on his way to making the final roster, probably at the expense of Ja'Lynn Polk or Javon Baker, who were the team's 2024 second and fourth round picks, respectively. Chism should be the backup to Demario Douglas in the slot to open the season. |
Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (hamstring) has been bothered by recent hamstring soreness, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Arizona Cardinals OG Hayden Conner (knee) sustained a knee injury in the preseason game versus the Denver Broncos Saturday, Aug. 16, and did not return to action.
Link to storyNew England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson rushed for 20 yards and one touchdown on four carries during the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings Saturday, Aug. 16.
Footballguys view: Henderson had an impressive run that showed off his burst once again, although he was running back Antonio Gibson, with Rhamondre Stevenson sitting for the second preseason game with an undisclosed injury. Henderson will have weekly upside via big plays, but he might not be a consistent presence in the box score at first with sporadic usage on early downs. Henderson is being drafted as everyweek contributor in the fifth round, but he might not be ready for that in September. |
Houston Texans WR Jayden Higgins caught one pass for 14 yards during the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Saturday, Aug. 16. He was targeted three times during the game.
Footballguys view: It looks like Higgins is the backup to Nico Collins at the X receiver position as opposed to the starting Z, as he was listed on the unofficial team depth chart. Higgins has been going off of the board as a priority bench upside stash, but this isn't a good sign for his early season value. Xavier Hutchinson was the starting Z in the second preseason game, with Christian Kirk in the slot in three wide receiver sets. |
Houston Texans RB Nick Chubb rushed for 25 yards on five carries during the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Saturday, Aug. 16. He also caught one pass for four yards during the game.
Footballguys view: Chubb looked much better than the reports from training camp that portrayed him as over the hill. Dameon Pierce returned to practice this week and split carries with Chubb, but didn't suit up for this one. Joe Mixon (foot) continues to be a complete question mark for Week 1 and beyond. It looks like Chubb is the back to target in the late rounds, with rookie fourth round pick Woody Marks also having a good game and asserting his bid to have a role, perhaps even when Mixon is healthy enough to play. |
Nick Chubb player page
Carolina Panthers RB Rico Dowdle caught one pass for 15 yards during the preseason game against the Houston Texans Saturday, Aug. 16. He also rushed for two yards on two carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Dowdle has been the third down back with the starters, which could cut into Chuba Hubbard's ceiling and also indicates that Dowdle has a chance to be a true everydown back if Hubbard misses time. The team likes Dowdle and he should be on your injury upside late round running back list. |

Indianapolis Colts OT Braden Smith (groin) suffered a groin injury during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 16, and has been ruled out.
Footballguys view: Smith is a good right tackle, but he has missed at least five games in three of the last four years. The Colts also lost Blake Freeland, a 2023 fourth round pick who was competing for the swing tackle job. The offensive line could be thin for the season opener against Miami, who will be starting an 100% new secondary in Week 1. |
Indianapolis Colts RB Tyler Goodson (elbow) suffered an elbow injury during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 16, and has been ruled out.
Footballguys view: This could be the last domino leading to fifth round rookie DJ Giddens winning the backup running back job. Giddens has had a good summer and already has appeared to pass Khalil Herbert on the depth chart. If Jonathan Taylor misses time, Giddens will have fantasy value. |
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts OT Blake Freeland (leg) suffered a fractured leg during the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers Saturday, Aug. 16, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers LB Nic Scourton (lung) suffered a collapsed lung during practice Thursday, Aug. 14, and is considered week to week, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan failed to catch either of his targets during the preseason game against the Houston Texans Saturday, Aug. 16.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson and QB Daniel Jones have been competing for the starting quarterback job during training camp, and head coach Shane Steichen said hopes to make a decision shortly.
Footballguys view: Jones started Saturday's preseason game vs. the Packers, playing 15 snaps over two drives and completing 7-of-11 passes for 101 yards. Richardson followed, playing 24 snaps and going 6-of-11 for 73 yards, with a 38-yard strike wiped out by a penalty. Steichen emphasized that evaluations go beyond the stats to include huddle communication, checks, and operational consistency as key factors in the Colts' decision-making process. We still expect Richardson to get the nod, but we'll be watching for the final call and will pass it along when the announcement is made. |
