Broncos | More 1-on-1 coverage for Courtland Sutton? Sun Jul 12, 04:59 PM
Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton could benefit from more one-on-one matchups thanks to the addition of WR Jaylen Waddle, while TE Evan Engram also is in the mix to stretch defenses. 'Courtland is an elite playmaker, so anytime you have a playmaker on the other side of you, it just makes it easy,' Waddle said. 'It's someone that the defense has to be looking for, and vice versa.'

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) is fully healthy heading into training camp and the preseason. He was able to practice at full speed during organized team activities (OTAs) and mandatory minicamp.
Footballguys view: Bowers dealt with a nagging knee injury for most of last season after tweaking it at the end of Week 1. He played through it early in the year with disappointing results. After a four-game rest, he returned in the second half of the season looking like his old self. But when the Raiders' season was over late, the team opted to shut him down again. Still just 23, Bowers is on the upswing. He's expected to be the team's top receiver this year, garnering consideration at the end of Round 1 in fantasy drafts.
Denver Broncos DL Zach Allen said Sunday, July 12, he expects the team to break the all-time team sack record after falling short in 2025. The team had 68 sacks in 2025, four behind the Chicago Bears (1984) NFL record of 72. The Bears also accomplished the feat in 16 games. 'We've got a lot of good guys and that's going to create a lot of opportunities for people. We came close to the sack record last year and we fully expect to break it this year,' Allen said.

New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. is expected to have a sizable role in the backfield. While RB Cam Skattebo is expected to see slightly more than half of the carries, Tracy is valuable not only in the run game, but for his hands. In terms of all-purpose yardage, he has two 1,000-yard seasons in his first two NFL seasons. He is also expected to be in the mix for work on kickoff returns.
Footballguys view: Tracy was a receiver in college, and that skill set has translated well to his early NFL career. Skattebo is also a great receiver, giving this backfield some promising young depth. Skattebo is still recovering from a season-ending ankle injury, putting Tracy in line for what could be extra early-season work. He's falling into the double-digit fantasy rounds, providing a bit of stand-alone value and contingent upside in the event of an injury to Skattebo.
Miami Dolphins RB Anthony Hankerson, who played his school football in the competitive South Florida area, is a candidate for the practice squad. He is battling RBs Donovan Edwards and Carlos Washington Jr. on the depth chart behind veteran RBs De'Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Carlos Washington Jr. has some special teams experience in the NFL, but he is expected to be a practice squad candidate behind RBs De'Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright. RB Donovan Edwards is another player expected to be a practice squad guy.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Donovan Edwards was signed in January after spending most of the year in 2025 on the Washington Commanders practice squad. As long as RBs De'Von Achane, Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright remain healthy, Edwards is expected to be a practice squad candidate in South Florida, too.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills CB Maxwell Hairston (knee) missed six games due to a knee injury coming out of training camp in his rookie season in 2025. He played 11 regular-season games, rotating with CB Tre'Davious White, posting two interceptions and 18 tackles with five passes defensed. 'I can't wait to see him on the field when the fall hits and camp hits and getting into the season,' cornerbacks coach Jay Valai said. 'You talk about somebody with tremendous upside and a high level of want-to. He's very intentional with everything he does. A lot of people have intent, but he's intentional at the doing aspect of it.'
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints C Erik McCoy has missed 20 games across the past two seasons due to various injuries. 'S--- happens,' McCoy said. He has missed 10 games in each of the past two seasons, dealing with groin and elbow injuries in 2024, and a torn biceps in 2025. He played all 17 games in 2023, and he was a Pro Bowl pick. He is penciled in to start at center again in 2026, and he hopes to stay healthy to be part of one of the better offensive lines the team has had in years, according to beat writer Luke Johnson.
Link to storyDenver Broncos DT Eyioma Uwazurike has a chance to start, with DT John Franklin-Myers moving on to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. 'He's doing well, practicing well. He has his weight right where it needs to be,' head coach Sean Payton said. 'He's one of those guys [who] I think he is competing for more time.' Uwazurike is battling DTs Sai'vion Jones and Tyler Onyedim for more playing time heading into training camp and the preseason, and somebody will emerge as the starter.
Link to storyHouston Texans RB Woody Marks has been working on learning the route tree, as it is anticipated that he will have a larger role in the passing game behind RB David Montgomery. 'He's going to get lots of opportunities. Last year we brought him along slower, which was good to help him kind of learn the game. And once he learned the game, he played a lot faster,' running backs coach and assistant head coach Danny Barrett said. 'And you can see him now playing even faster. So, his role is going to pick up some third downs, special teams. He's a kickoff return guy. But, more importantly, probably in the passing game as well.'
Footballguys view: Marks was a solid receiver in college, leading all NCAA running backs in 2021 with a ludicrous 83 receptions. He saw his workload expand late last year as a rookie, as Nick Chubb's efficiency became a concern. The Texans brought in Montgomery to be the RB1 this year, but Marks could find a role on passing downs. It's worth noting that Montgomery is no slouch of a receiver, pacing for over 50 targets per season with the Bears. However, Marks could find a consistent receiving role this season, although meaingful upside would likely require Montgomery to miss some time.
Tennessee Titans RB Tyjae Spears will have an important role in the offense this season, according to head coach Robert Saleh, who added that he is a solid performer in passing-down situations.
Footballguys view: Spears' talent has been undeniable since his days at Tulane. He's explosive and bouncy, showing utility as both a rusher and receiver. The issues have been his health and availability. Spears tore his ACL twice in college, and it became public knowledge through the pre-draft process that he had no ACL in his right knee. After a promising rookie season, Spears' workload was ramped up, and injuries followed. A new coaching staff could expand his role. Spears' skill set with increased volume could quickly put him on the fantasy radar. He's worth targeting in drafts if there's a steady drumbeat throughout camp, but Spears carries an obvious injury-related red flag.

Green Bay Packers LB Isaiah McDuffie received a one-year, $4.85 million contract extension for the 2027 season. The deal includes a $1.5 million guaranteed signing bonus and a 2027 base salary of $2.9 million. If McDuffie is on the roster on the third day of the 2027 league year, he will also earn a $750,000 roster bonus. McDuffie is eligible to receive up to $600,000 in 2027 per-game roster bonuses and a $100,000 workout bonus as well.

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor announced his retirement Saturday, July 11.
Footballguys view: As far as Day 3 picks go, Taylor had a long career, getting drafted in 2017 and playing through 2024. After spotty use as a receiver to start his career, Taylor carved out a role as a special-teams player. He's been mostly uninvolved on offense since his rookie season, meaning his retirement has no impact on fantasy football.
Trent Taylor player page
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane's 5.62 yard per carry for his career is the best mark of any running back in NFL history with a minimum of 500 carries.
Footballguys view: Achane has been historically efficient since his rookie season. As his workload has grown, his efficiency has cooled off slightly, but he is still among the elite. His game-breaking quickness consistently turns minute gains into chunk plays. 2026 is set to be the biggest challenge of his career, where he will be the lone weapon with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Tua Tagovailoa all gone. The uncertainty about his outlook has him falling into Round 2, where his range of outcomes is vast.
Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry's 17 runs of 20-plus yards last season led the NFL and were four more than any other player.
Footballguys view: Henry's game has always involved wearing down defenses and breaking off big runs late. Ten of those 17 runs of 20-plus yards from last season came in the second half of games. Henry is getting up there in age, heading into his age-32 season. Still, he's shown no signs of wearing down. His advanced age is baked into his fantasy cost, where he's typically going between Rounds 2 and 3.

Cincinnati Bengals C Connor Lew (knee) expected to be ready to participate when training camp begins.
Link to storyNew England Patriots TE Hunter Henry has posted at least 40 receptions in each of his last five seasons and has played in 81 of the 85 games since joining the Patriots.
Footballguys view: Henry has been incredibly steady since joining the Patriots. While he probably doesn't possess the upside to be an elite TE1, his reliability and usage make him a decent target late in drafts. At worst, you're getting a player who can score a touchdown on any given week. At best, Henry can fill your tight end slot while you wait for this year's waiver wire surprise.
Hunter Henry player page
Washington Commanders WRs Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane and Treylon Burks are expected to be candidates for the No. 2 wide receiver job during training camp, but the team may use a committee at the position this upcoming season, in the opinion of Commanders.com's Zach Selby.
Footballguys view: Terry McLaurin is the obvious top receiver here, but the lack of a clear WR2 could make Chig Okonkwo an interesting sleeper to target at tight end. Okonkwo has elite speed and has proven capable as a receiver. He's expected to get some of the manufactured touches vacated by Deebo Samuel. And as far as the WR2 battle goes, rookie Antonio Williams is another name to watch throughout camp.
Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (Achilles) said he is 'cleared to do everything' as he rehabs from a torn Achilles. 'I think it's just about, at this point, sharpening that,' Jones said.
Footballguys view: Jones participated in 7-on-7 drills during OTAs, and all signs pointed to a return at the start of camp. Jones' rushing upside is valuable in fantasy, especially near the end zone. If he's limited at all early in the season, that would be a slight ding to his value and a boost to Jonathan Taylor's. But with Jones expected back, draft the Colts' pass catchers with confidence.

Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta led all tight ends last season with 6.9 yards after the catch per reception.
Footballguys view: LaPorta was limited by a back injury last year, which ended his season early. However, he was still extremely efficient with his opportunities. Last year, Drew Petzing aided Trey McBride to an elite season in Arizona. Petzing will now take over as the Lions' offensive coordinator, potentially signaling an increased role for the young tight end.

Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers is the league's top tight end when it comes to receiving skills, according to an NFL coordinator. 'As far as route running, separation, zone instincts, yards-after-catch ability combination, he's better than the field in those areas,' the coordinator said.
Footballguys view: Bowers proved elite in his rookie season, but an injury in Year 2 led to a decline in production. On a Raiders' offense without any standout WR1, Bowers is set to lead the team in targets. He's being drafted in the middle of Round 2, but our projections give him a significant edge over all other tight ends, making him worth reaching for a bit earlier.
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle is one of three players with at least six touchdown catches in each of the past five seasons.
Footballguys view: Whether by contested catches in the end zone or plays after the catch, Kittle has long shown a nose for the end zone. He'll have an uphill battle in 2026, his age-33 season, as he returns from a ruptured Achilles. Even if he isn't 100 percent to start the year, Kittle's upside late in the season could make him one of this year's better tight end values.
George Kittle player page
Chicago Bears WR Kalif Raymond has a chance to have a solid role in the passing game if he can build a connection with QB Caleb Williams and if either WR Rome Odunze or WR Luther Burden III struggle during training camp, in the opinion of BearsWire's Mike Pendleton. Raymond is familiar with head coach Ben Johnson's offensive system since they worked together with the Detroit Lions.
Footballguys view: If Odunze or Burden struggle in camp, the Bears have much bigger problems that Raymond probably can't fix. However, Raymond spent years working with Ben Johnson in Detroit, and the familiarity there could help him see the field. Still, with a young nucleus of Odunze, Burden, and Colston Loveland, the Bears probably aren't prioritizing Raymond as much more than a rotational receiver and special-teams player.
Kalif Raymond player page
Miami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II and RB Jaylen Wright will compete for the No. 2 running back job during training camp.
Footballguys view: Achane is the clear top dog here, and there might not be much left over in what projects to be a low-scoring Dolphins' offense. We'll keep an eye on this battle throughout training camp, but both running backs would be an injury away from a meaningful workload.
Tennessee Titans LB Oluwafemi Oladejo (hamstring) missed some offseason workouts because of a hamstring injury but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Link to storyFree-agent CB Terrion Arnold (Lions) has received interest from the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans, according to agent Nicole Lynn.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR George Pickens is working out with QB Dak Prescott and other offensive teammates in Utah, according to DLLS Sports' Clarence Hill Jr.
Footballguys view: There was some early offseason concern about Pickens not playing on his franchise tag, but that doesn't appear to be an issue anymore. He was at OTAs and is practicing with teammates before training camp. Entering his age-25 season, another strong campaign could set him up for a monstrous contract in 2026. Pickens was a steady WR1 with Dallas last year, and could hopefully pick up where he left off. He's being drafted at the 2/3 turn in fantasy drafts, a fair cost given his upside.
Chicago Bears third-round draft choice TE Sam Roush signed a four-year contract with the Bears Friday, July 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Rousch is cut from the same cloth as Cole Kmet, an in-line tight end with the versatility and length to be an above-average receiver. While Colston Loveland is the top tight end here, Roush is set to be Kmet's heir apparent. Ben Johnson showed a penchant for multiple-tight-end sets in both Detroit and Chicago, and he's setting himself up to have that flexibility for years to come with the Bears. Roush is off the fantasy radar for now, but he's a name to know in dynasty leagues.
Free agent CB Terrion Arnold (Lions) will not be required to wear a GPS tracking device as a condition of his release, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints QB Tyler Shough was labeled as an x-factor for the 2026 season by ESPN's Seth Walder.
Footballguys view: Rookie quarterbacks can often surprise before the league gets an offseason to analyze and reset. Shough certainly surprised in Year 1. And the Saints trusted him enough to sign Travis Etienne and draft Jordyn Tyson and Oscar Delp. They are surrounding him with playmakers to see how he develops. The Saints' success will hinge on his ability to adapt to new coverages in Year 2, making him the most important factor going into the season.
New York Giants TE Isaiah Likely is projected to be an x-factor for the team with increased targets if WR Malik Nabers misses time to start the season, according to ESPN's Seth Walder.
Footballguys view: John Harbaugh might not be the Giants' playcaller, but his hand is heavily involved in the team's identity. Moves for Likely and Patrick Ricard signal a desire to implement a similar offense to what Harbaugh installed with the Ravens: run-heavy game plans and jumbo sets. Likely has familiarity with this offense, and could benefit early from spending four years with Harbaugh in Baltimore. Entering his age-26 season, Likely is poised for a career year. While he's never amounted to much more than a back-end TE2, his upside as a pure receiving threat makes him an intriguing target in fantasy drafts.
Tennessee Titans DT Jeffery Simmons will have his snaps reduced to keep him fresh for pivotal moments in the game, according to head coach Robert Saleh.

Former New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr said it would take a special situation for him to come out of retirement.
Footballguys view: On Carr's GMFB appearance, he also stated that multiple teams have reached out to him. He walked away from football in 2024 after persistent shoulder issues, forfeiting $30M of the remaining money on his guaranteed contract. While some players desperately hang on to their active careers as long as possible, Carr appears at ease in retirement. If a contender were to lose a quarterback and call him, he might return à la Philip Rivers. But the 35-year-old has most likely played his last snap.

Free-agent CB Terrion Arnold (Lions) took a physical with the Houston Texans Thursday, July 9.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on The Twins Take Podcast on YouTube that he had an agreement that would keep him with the Cowboys even if they didn't hire him as head coach.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers LB Trevin Wallace (shoulder) participated in offseason workouts while wearing a non-contact jersey, but head coach Dave Canales said Wallace has been medically cleared for contact during practices.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers OT Ikem Ekwonu (knee) has a chance to miss the entire 2026 season because of his ruptured patellar tendon, in the opinion of The Charlotte Observer's Mike Kaye.
Link to storyNew York Giants CB Rico Payton (undisclosed) was moved to the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, July 8, after clearing waivers.
Link to storyWashington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels has recently been working out with some of his pass catchers leading up to training camp.
Footballguys view: Daniels' elbow injury appears to be completely behind him, and he's working hard to regain the magic from his rookie season. He's the leader of this team and has some new weapons going into 2026. It's a good sign that he's taking the initiative to get some extra work in before training camp opens. Daniels is getting drafted as a middling QB1 and has the upside to finish as a top-three quarterback.
Free-agent WR Brandin Cooks (Bills) said he wants to re-sign with the Buffalo Bills.
Footballguys view: Cooks was largely a non-factor last year with Buffalo, and his lack of involvement was probably a motivator to trade for DJ Moore. He understandably wants to return. But going into what would be his age-33 season, Cooks' days as an NFL receiver may be behind him.
Brandin Cooks player page
Washington Commanders WR Dyami Brown could emerge as a reliable deep-threat for the team in their offense after joining them this offseason, according to ESPN's Aaron Schatz.
Footballguys view: After a year in Jacksonville, Brown will return to the team that drafted him. He and Treylon Brooks should compete for the role of field stretcher, with Terry McLaurin serving as the X and Chig Okonkwo as the primary underneath target. If the Commanders' offense can return to its 2024 form with a healthy Jayden Daniels, there's theoretical upside for Brown. But he'd likely need a strong camp to get on the fantasy radar.
Dyami Brown player page
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams is being labeled as an x-factor for his team for the 2026 season, according to ESPN's Seth Walder. He points to Williams' QBR being below league average, and if he can raise it, his production would skyrocket.
Footballguys view: Williams had great highlights last year, his first with Ben Johnson. But the consistency, especially in the short and intermediate areas of the field, was lacking. Johnson has talked about the focus on accuracy and completion percentage this season, stating that "You get what you emphasize... Completion percentage is something that we're going to emphasize." An uptick in efficiency and consistency from Williams could help this be one of the best offenses in the league.
Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders is 'closing the gap' on QB Deshaun Watson for the starting quarterback role.
Footballguys view: A couple of months ago, all indications were that Watson had the inside track to the starting job. Considering we're a few weeks out of OTAs, it's hard to see what Sanders could be doing to close the gap. Todd Monken has refused to name a starter, but we should get some clarity in training camp. Until then, drafters in deep best ball leagues can take final-round shots on either quarterback. It would be a surprise if either quarterback earns and holds the starting job for the entire season.
San Francisco 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling was labeled as a non-starter to know by ESPN's Aaron Schatz. He credited Stribling's yards after the catch potential in Kyle Shanahan's offense.
Footballguys view: Stribling will have a chance to earn a starting role with Jauan Jennings now in Minnesota. Stribling is a fantastic blocker, and that alone could lead to snaps. Mike Evans and Ricky Pearsall are likely atop the depth chart to start the season, but Stribling was selected with the 33rd overall pick, clearly signaling plans for him. And Evans and Pearsall have struggled to stay healthy. Stribling is falling deep into drafts this year and has enough injury-away contingent upside to make him an alluring target.
Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett hosted a private workout with skill-position players including WR Marvin Harrison Jr. and TE Trey McBride. Brissett missed organized team activities due to a contract dispute.
Footballguys view: Brissett and the Cardinals are still at a standstill over an extension, but the players clearly view him as the starting quarterback. The Cardinals' quarterback room could remain fluid this year, with Carson Beck and Gardner Minshew both vying for starts. However, Brissett took this offense to new heights last year, and fantasy managers should hope he ends up as the Week 1 starter.

San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey can be an elite running back 'for at least one more year,' according to an NFC executive. 'But he's such an elite overall player with versatility who takes care of himself,' the executive said.
Footballguys view: McCaffrey is coming off another superb year as he heads into his age-30 season. Ricky Pearsall is expected back and healthy. The team drafted De'Zhaun Stribling. The signed Mike Evans and Christian Kirk. There are more mouths to feed than last year, but McCaffrey is clearly the engine powering the offense. He's being valued as a consensus top-six pick, and if healthy, he can finish as fantasy's top-scoring player again.
Christian McCaffrey player page
Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley had four runs of 20-plus yards last season after recording 17 such runs the previous year.
Footballguys view: Barkley's 2024 season was highlighted by breakaway runs through the second level, but he was regularly tripped up there in 2025. With Kevin Patullo out of the picture, there's hope that Sean Mannion can get this offense back on track. A lack of a deep postseason run and minimized usage could lead to fresher legs for Barkley. He's settling into Round 2 of fantasy drafts, where both his upside and downside are being recognized.
Saquon Barkley player page
Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter (knee) will be a 'full go' for training camp, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.
Footballguys view: Hunter was limited through OTAs while returning from last year's torn LCL, so this is great news. The big question for fantasy managers has been regarding his deployment on both sides of the ball. NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe stated yesterday that he expects Hunter to be a full-time defensive player, and the Jaguars' offseason moves signal as much. Hunter has contingent upside as a late-round target in fantasy drafts, and we'll hope for more information on his role throughout training camp.
Free-agent OT Brady Christensen (Achilles) said he has been medically cleared for contact.
