Giants | Darius Slayton should be ready for camp Thu May 21, 05:08 PM
New York Giants WR Darius Slayton (hernia) should be ready for the start of training camp after undergoing sports hernia surgery this offseason, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Free-agent WR Keenan Allen (Chargers) is a player the Los Angeles Chargers are open to re-signing this offseason, according to general manager Joe Hortiz. Hortiz said he has talked with Allen's agent this offseason.
Footballguys view: The Chargers are watching to see what their young receivers look like this offseason. If they feel like some veteran depth is needed, adding Allen is an easy call. Last year, Allen snared 81 catches for 777 yards and four touchdowns.

New York Giants DT Roy Robertson-Harris (leg) left the voluntary workout early Thursday, May 21, after suffering an apparent lower leg injury.

Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward is not having any issues with his right shoulder during offseason workouts despite injuring the shoulder in the last game of the 2025 season, according to head coach Robert Saleh.
Footballguys view: Great news for the Titans here. Ward showed as a rookie that the game is not too big for him, and that gives us confidence about him taking the next step as a passer in 2026. Titans OC Brian Daboll said the team is installing the new system and Ward "is able to pick things up very quickly."
Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-round draft choice Josiah Trotter signed a four-year contract with the Buccaneers Thursday, May 21. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Link to storyNew York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) has a goal to be ready for the start of the season, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
Footballguys view: Nabers tore his ACL in early October last year, and he's been on the road to recovery since then. The young receiver did undergo a cleanup procedure earlier this spring, but that's not supposed to interrupt his timeline. Expect to see him out there in training camp, but it might be closer to the end of camp before Nabers gets ramped up.
Free agent DE Isaiahh Loudermilk (Steelers) signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, May 21. No details of the contract were disclosed.

Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby (knee) should be available for the start of training camp, according to head coach Klint Kubiak.
Footballguys view: It's been quite an unusual offseason for Crosby. He underwent knee surgery at the beginning of the offseason and was going to be traded to the Ravens. The deal was nixed due to concerns about his knee. Now, he's staying with the Raiders and focused on getting out there later this summer. Crosby's relationship with the Raiders seems to be better, but there are still many speculating he could be dealt around the trade deadline.

Jacksonville Jaguars second-round draft choice TE Nate Boerkircher signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars Wednesday, May 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Boerkircher is a traditional "Y" tight end. He's mainly a blocker, and he can be a devastating blocker for the Jaguars. Fantasy GMs aren't getting points for blocks, so the rookie may not have much value in our game - even in dynasty formats. Brenton Strange is the team's move tight end and best receiving weapon at the position.
Las Vegas Raiders QB Kirk Cousins took a majority of the reps with the first-team offense at practice Wednesday, May 20, and the 'expectation' is that Cousins will open the season as the starter, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Cousins is the seasoned veteran who knows the Kubiak (Shanahan) system like the back of his hand. Fernando Mendoza will take over as the starter at some point in the near future, but Cousins should be the starter for at least the first month of the season.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow said he wants to break the franchise record for touchdowns this season. Burrow is 48 passing touchdowns away from the mark.
Footballguys view: Burrow had a career-high 43 touchdowns in 2024, so he'd have to go over his personal best to pass the franchise record in 2026. If Burrow stays healthy, pushing for over 45 passing touchdowns is well within reason. However, we've currently got Burrow projected at 36 passing touchdowns in our consensus rankings.

Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin said he is happy that offensive coordinator David Blough plans to make him a focal point in the offense. Blough has said he wants to target McLaurin 10 times per game.
Footballguys view: Blough said that about McLaurin a few months ago, and the veteran receiver is fired up to make that happen. Ten targets per game is a healthy number, especially when you consider the career-high for McLaurin is 8.9 targets per game. Last year was an injury-riddled season for McLaurin where he only played in 10 games. This year if healthy, McLaurin is likely a WR2 for Fantasy GMs this season.
Terry McLaurin player page
Las Vegas Raiders QB Fernando Mendoza has been 'as advertised' during practices, according to head coach Klint Kubiak. 'He has not disappointed,' Kubiak said. 'He's working his tail off.'
Footballguys view: Mendoza is known as a coachable and competitive player, so it's not a shock to hear how Kubiak appreciated the no.1 overall pick. With Kirk Cousins on the roster, Mendoza can take the time to develop his skill set for the pro game. We expect Cousins to begin the regular season as the starter with Mendoza taking over when they're out of contention (halfway through the year?).
Philadelphia Eagles LB Nolan Smith was arrested May 15 in Georgia for speeding in excess of maximum limits and reckless driving. Smith was previously arrested in 2022 for driving on a suspended license and speeding in a construction zone.

Link to storyFree-agent WR Cedrick Wilson (Dolphins) signed with the Detroit Lions Wednesday, May 20. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: As the Detroit Free Press noted, Wilson caught five passes for 44 yards in 10 games for the Miami Dolphins last season. He also had stops with the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints in his seven-year career. The Lions return starting receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams and expect Isaac TeSlaa to emerge as their No. 3 receiver this fall. They also signed Greg Dortch in free agency to fill Kalif Raymond's role as a backup receiver and return man, and drafted Kendrick Law in the fifth round.

Free-agent CB Sam Webb (Browns) worked out for the Chicago Bears Wednesday, May 20, according to a source.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Samori Toure (Saints), WR Dee Eskridge (Dolphins), WR River Cracraft (Commanders) and WR Jha'Quan Jackson (Saints) recently worked out for the Houston Texans, according to sources. The Texans also worked out undrafted free-agent WR Demarcus Lacey (Marshall).

Cleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 20.
Footballguys view: While Fannin missed time late in his 2025 rookie season with a groin injury, he had participated in the team's voluntary minicamp last month, suggesting this absence might be precautionary or unrelated to a long-term issue. Fannin became just the ninth tight end since the merger to log at least 700 receiving yards as a rookie. He was so good that the Browns opted to cut ties with longtime veteran David Njoku at the end of the season. But his role could change with Todd Monken taking over as head coach. We'll follow up as needed.
Former Denver Broncos special teams coordinator Dwayne Stukes has been hired by the Carolina Panthers as a special teams coach and a defensive assistant.
Link to storyPittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers said that 2026 will be his final season.
Footballguys view: "Yes. This is it," Rodgers said on Wednesday when asked if this would be his final NFL season. He signed a one-year contract worth up to $25 million this week, reuniting with coach Mike McCarthy, his coach for 13 seasons with the Packers. By agreeing to his deal before OTAs, Rodgers was in the building for what McCarthy called the "most important part of the offseason program." Rodgers enters his 22nd NFL season ranked at least in the top seven in most major QB categories. Only Peyton Manning (5) has won more NFL MVP Awards than Rodgers (4).

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders has made significant progress with his progressions and operating of the offense this offseason, according to head coach Todd Monken.
Footballguys view: Sanders and Deshaun Watson split first-team reps for most of Wednesday's practice, before Watson took all the reps at the end in a simulated hurry-up drill, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green didn't get much -- if any -- first-team work, but the rotation could change from practice to practice. Monken has talked about naming a starting QB before the start of training camp, though he eased off on prior statements Wednesday, telling reporters, "We'll have it set for [Week 1 at Jacksonville]." We expect Watson to be that starter, but nothing is chiseled in stone.
Baltimore Ravens WR Rashod Bateman was not present for the voluntary workout Tuesday, May 19.
Footballguys view: With a revamped and new coaching staff, schemes, and plays, the absence is noteworthy. Bateman is coming off the worst season of his career, and the team added two big-bodied receivers in April's NFL Draft. Ja'Kobi Lane was selected out of USC in the third round, and Indiana's Elijah Sarratt was added later in the fourth. Again, these are voluntary sessions. We'll monitor this and report back as needed.

New England Patriots WR Kyle Williams said he is more familiar with the offensive scheme and expects a big leap in his production as compared to his rookie season. He said he has also added some weight this offseason to help his strength.
Footballguys view: "I would say that me from now from my rookie year is going to be night and day," Williams said. Drafted with the 69th pick in the third round, Williams finished with 10 receptions, 209 yards, and three touchdowns last season. Although he showed potential, Williams wasn't always on the same page with quarterback Drake Maye. The then-rookie caught 42.9 percent (10 of 21) of his targets. Williams did showcase some intriguing abilities as a rookie. Most notably, the 5-11 receiver had three highlight-reel touchdowns where he showed an elite burst of speed. His progress this summer is worth watching.
Buffalo Bills WR Keon Coleman said he considers the 2026 season to be a make-or-break season for him and will have to perform in order to remain with the team.
Footballguys view: The 33rd pick in the 2024 NFL draft is coming off a tough 2025 season. Coleman, 23, was disciplined by former coach Sean McDermott in November for being late to a meeting. He was then inactive for three more games during the season. Coleman was also benched for a quarter of a game during his rookie season because of off-field issues. He finished the 2025 season with only one game over 100 receiving yards (Week 1) and four regular-season touchdowns. Coleman's realistic view of where he stands is a great starting point. Hopefully, he builds on it.
Undrafted free-agent TE Heinrich Haarberg (Nebraska) signed with the Carolina Panthers Wednesday, May 20. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyFree-agent LB Kyle Van Noy (Ravens) said he has received interest from multiple teams this offseason but is taking a wait-and-see approach to his playing future.

Free-agent WR Noah Short (Buccaneers) is working out for the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, May 20, according to a source.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Carlos Washington Jr. (Falcons) is working out for the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, May 20, according to a source.
Link to storyCleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (ankle, leg) is participating in individual drills during the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 20.
Footballguys view: Judkins dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula against the Bills in Week 16 and missed the final two games of the season. According to multiple reports, Wednesday was a light practice, but Judkins was out there moving around well, and there was no noticeable sign of a brace or other support on the leg. Judkins had 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games last season. An upgraded offensive line and a new, offensive-minded head coach in Todd Monken could benefit Judkins this season. He's currently being drafted as RB22.
Denver Broncos fourth-round pick OT Kage Casey signed his rookie four-year deal Wednesday, May 20. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Link to storyDenver Broncos fourth-round pick RB Jonah Coleman signed his rookie four-year deal Wednesday, May 20. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: While he starts his career in Denver behind veteran J.K. Dobbins and second-year man RJ Harvey, Coleman is a tough, physical runner with three-down capabilities due to his ability to catch passes and pass protect. He's an interesting prospect with an RB48 ADP that puts him in the same tier with Jacksonville's Chris Rodriguez Jr., the Giants' Tyrone Tracy Jr., Tennessee's Tyjae Spears, and Detroit's Isiah Pacheco.
Cam Skattebo insists he will be "ready to go" Week 1 as he continues his rehab from a gruesome leg injury. That is good news for the Giants as the running back had 125 carries for 617 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie. Skattebo has much bigger goals for his second season. "I do not consider that successful for me," Skattebo said of his rookie season, via Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press. "I had 400 yards on 100 carries. When I play 17-plus games this year, it's going to be 300 carries for over 2,000 yards."
Footballguys view: As Profootballtalk.com points out, nine running backs have had a 2,000-yard season, the most recent coming by Saquon Barkley in 2024. Eric Dickerson owns the NFL record with his 2,105 rushing yards in 1984. Tiki Barber holds the Giants team record with 1,860 rushing yards in 2005. Skattebo's lofty goals might be over the top, but even though he only appeared in eight games last season, Skattebo was RB10 when he was hurt, despite not being a starter until Week 4. His RB20 ADP makes him an appealing play.
Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid underwent a proper offseason regimen, has added 10-to-12 pounds of muscle and his knee feels better after a torn PCL and hamstring issues, according to Nick Sabato of the Niagara Gazette on Tuesday, May 19.
Footballguys view: Kincaid has dealt with a nagging knee injury dating back to the 2024 season, which has led to nine games missed over the past two years, but he still decided to forego surgery. On Tuesday, he explained the expert advice he received that led him to continue to strengthen and rehab the injury instead of going under the knife. With Kincaid on point and new faces such as free-agent addition DJ Moore and fourth-round pick Skyler Bell in tow, the Bills' passing game appears much improved in the early going of the offseason.

Atlanta Falcons WR Zachariah Branch reportedly stood out at Falcons OTAs, with an explosive catch-and-run during offense vs. defense, and overall, standing out amongst the offensive players, in the opinion of Daniel Flick of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday, May 19.
Footballguys view: Flick wasn't alone in that assessment. According to FanSided's Garrett Klaus, "In his first days on an NFL practice field, he made A.J. Woods look helpless with a juke on an out-route, then followed it up with a catch and spin that drew immediate Bijan Robinson comparisons." For a receiver who was drafted 79th overall, the early buzz has been anything but quiet. Footballguy Sigmund Bloom believes Branch's quickness, 4.35 speed, and competitiveness could make him Tyreek Hill lite in a best-case scenario. It's enough to keep an eye on his progress this summer.
One week before being ordered to serve 30 days in jail, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice underwent a clean-up surgery on his right knee to remove loose debris that was causing inflammation and now is expected to sideline him two months, league sources told ESPN.
Footballguys view: Rice underwent the surgery last week in Dallas, sources said, but he did it before knowing that he would be sentenced after violating the terms of his probation for his role in a crash that left multiple people injured on a Dallas highway two years ago. Now Rice is in a Dallas County jail and will be unable to get the type of medical attention and rehab that could have expedited his return from his recent knee surgery. Rice still is expected to be ready for training camp later this summer, but he also is facing the uncertainty of having to recover while in jail. We'll continue to monitor.
