Free agent wide receivers Jared Wayne (Houston) and Josh Kelly (Houston) signed future/reserve contracts on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Tennessee Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan was hired in the same capacity by the Atlanta Falcons Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Footballguys view: Callahan comes to the Falcons with a coaching resume that spans four decades through the college and professional ranks. Callahan joined the league in 1995 as offensive line coach for the Eagles. From there, he spent time with the then-Oakland Raiders and worked his way up from offensive line coach to offensive coordinator to head coach by 2002. When newly-hired Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski created his Cleveland Browns staff in 2020, Callahan joined as offensive line coach. He quickly became a vital cog and someone Stefanski leaned on. Now, he'll reprise that role in Atlanta.
Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching vacancy Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Footballguys view: Brady has been a popular candidate in this coaching cycle, as he has also talked with the Falcons, Raiders, and Ravens. He is set to have a second interview with Baltimore. We'll continue monitoring.
Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison will not face charges and now will prepare for the filing of a civil claim arising from the alleged wrongful arrest.
Footballguys view: Addison, 23, was arrested on a misdemeanor trespassing charge last Monday at 3:46 a.m. He was later released on bond. A positive outcome is great, as this remains an important offseason for Addison. The Vikings will have to decide whether or not to pick up the former first-round pick's fifth-year option. Addison is emerging from a down season, in which he caught a career-low 42 passes for 610 yards (he also had six drops). We'll be watching for more.

Former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott highlighted roster weaknesses in a meeting with general manager Brandon Beane and team owner Terry Pegula five weeks ago, but sources said neither Beane nor Pegula was pleased with McDermott's assessment. There are unnamed players that held McDermott in high regard that are skeptical of the decision to fire McDermott.
Footballguys view: Despite the common outside view that Josh Allen's supporting cast was what has mainly held the Bills back in their Super Bowl quest, WGRZ's Vic Carucci contends Beane managed to convince Pegula that coaching was the primary culprit. Carucci went on to suggest that how he pulled that off is hard to understand, considering McDermott might very well have done the best work of his career in leading the Bills to a 12-5 record with glaring weaknesses at wide receiver and on the defensive line. Whatever the case, the search for McDermott's replacement is on.
Minnesota Vikings passing game coordinator/DBs coach Daronte Jones has been requested for an interview for the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator opening.
Footballguys view: Jeff Hafley was the team's coordinator, but he agreed to become the Dolphins' next head coach on Monday. Jones has been the Vikings' defensive backs coach/pass game coordinator since 2023. Jones has already interviewed with the Cowboys and Jets this month. The Giants also requested an interview with him. As Profootballtalk.com suggests, a move up the ladder in Minnesota isn't out of the question as Brian Flores remains in the mix for head coaching jobs, and all of the interest in Jones suggests that there's a good chance he'll be running a defense somewhere next season.
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (knee) is likely to be released and designated a post-June 1 cut, according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques, who writes it remains 'unclear' when he'll be able to return after dislocating his knee. Louis-Jacques adds that this would be the 'most fiscally reasonable solution.'
Footballguys view: New GM Jon-Eric Sullivan will have to decide on the futures of several players, including Hill. With Sullivan stressing the importance of team culture, it's hard to imagine a scenario in which Hill is part of this franchise going forward. The real question is what teams might be interested in the veteran speedster. We'll be watching for more.

San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings is a free-agent-to-be, and he deferred to his agent when questioned about whether he would play under the projected franchise tag of $28 million for 2026.
Footballguys view: According to USA Today's Kyle Madson, the 49ers aren't sure to tag Jennings given the inflated one-year valuation, so he's likely to test the unrestricted free agent market for the first time in his career. With 1,618 yards and 15 touchdowns on 122 receptions over the last two years, it's understandable Jennings may want to look elsewhere to see if there's a sizable payday for him. However, ESPN's Nick Wagoner also noted Jennings "got a bit emotional" while discussing his time with the 49ers, so it's tough to rule out a return if the market isn't to his liking.

The Titans are expected to hire San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as the team's head coach, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo reported late Monday night, per sources.
Footballguys view: Saleh, 46, is back at the helm after his second stint as the 49ers' defensive coordinator. He previously spent three-plus seasons as the New York Jets head coach (2021-24). Saleh's coaching record as a head coach was 20-36. Before taking the head coaching job in New York, Saleh spent four seasons as the 49ers' DC from 2017 to 2020. Saleh's return in the Bay Area saw season-ending injuries to Nick Bosa (torn ACL) and Fred Warner (ankle), but he still guided San Francisco to the 13th-ranked scoring defense this past campaign.
Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is not expected to return on his 'current deal,' in the opinion of ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques, who writes that trading Tagovailoa 'will be tricky' based on his level of play and money remaining on his contract. Louis-Jacques adds that the Dolphins could 'sweeten' any trade package for their quarterback by 'including a draft pick.'
Footballguys view: Louis-Jacques explained that cutting Tagovailoa would result in a $99 million dead cap hit, whether it's all at once this season or spread across the next two seasons; trading him will be tricky considering his play over the past two seasons and the money he's owed. After an injury-shortened 2024 season, Tagovailoa led the NFL in interceptions at the time of his benching this season with a career-high 15, while sporting a career-low 37.4 QBR. This is a situation fantasy investors will want to monitor.

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams was hurried a league-leading 94 times during the 2025 regular season and also led the league by being blitzed 174 times during the season.
Footballguys view: The Bears experienced a significant turnaround in Ben Johnson's first season as coach. They went from five wins in 2024 to 11 in 2025 en route to the NFC North title. The Bears won their first playoff game in 15 seasons when they beat the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round on Jan. 10. Williams was a big part of it, but there are areas in which both the QB and his team must improve. In particular, Williams said he plans to address his accuracy and footwork during the offseason. We'll be following his progress all offseason.
Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams recorded a league-high 12 drops during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Yes, this was an issue, and Williams has room for improvement. As previously noted, there was still plenty to like here. Williams ranked third in the NFL with 23 receptions of 20-plus yards in 2025, and his 17.2 yards per reception ranked third among players who appeared in at least 10 games. He also posted career bests of 65 catches and 1,117 receiving yards en route to a WR21 finish. Williams will work on improving his strength this offseason. He'll likely work on his receiving as well.
Updating a previous report. Denver Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins (foot) had his 21-day practice window opened Monday, Jan. 19.
Footballguys view: Dobbins needs to be activated off the injured reserve to play this week and there is no guarantee that he will be ready for Sunday. Stay tuned.
J.K. Dobbins player page
Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley officially agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins Monday, Jan. 19, to become their new head coach.
Footballguys view: Hafley comes to a Miami team in dire need of an identity shift, with plenty of questions to answer after two consecutive losing seasons. The Dolphins in recent years developed a reputation for soft play, featuring speed over enforcers, and that showed in the team's 24th-ranked scoring defense. Considering that's Hafley's specialty, he'll be counted on to transform the culture into something more hard-nosed, and a decision at QB will be the focal point in Miami.
Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) will be day-to-day this week, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. 'Balancing making sure we get enough reps at the proper tempo, with the proper looks, you know, and getting Sam the reps he needs,' Macdonald said Monday, Jan. 19.
Footballguys view: Darnold, who played through an oblique injury suffered in last Thursday's practice, Macdonald said there were no setbacks. "To my knowledge, he's good," Macdonald said. "He didn't make it worse or anything, but I'm sure he's sore. This is something that we're going to have to navigate the rest of the week." Macdonald said there was almost no doubt that Darnold would play, even on the day the injury happened, both because of the way he responded to the setback and because of the toughness he has shown the team this season. We'll be monitoring Darnold's progress all week. Stay tuned.

Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III matched a franchise record with three rushing touchdowns, 116 rushing yards and 19 carries in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: That was the Walker that fantasy investors who landed him last summer expected all season. With Zach Charbonnet suffering a torn ACL against the 49ers, Walker will have ample opportunity against the Rams this week. Walker is currently the only healthy running back on the 53-man roster, but the Seahawks also have veteran backs Velus Jones Jr and Cam Akers on the practice squad. Additionally, George Holani, who has been on injured reserve since late November due to a hamstring injury, could be a candidate to return. However, he has not yet be designated to return to practice.
Seattle Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed had a 95-yard kickoff return for touchdown to open the NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers to open the game.
Footballguys view: It was just the third postseason kickoff return for touchdown in franchise history, and only the 28th kickoff return for touchdown in a playoff game in NFL history.
San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner (ankle) had healed up so well that he planned to suit up for the NFC Championship Game, had his team advanced past the NFC Divisional Round against the Seattle Seahawks.

Denver Broncos LB Drew Sanders (ankle) has returned to practice, and head coach Sean Payton said Monday, Jan. 19, that the team still hopes to get Sanders back later in the year. 'It won't be soon,' Payton said. With just the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots, and the Super Bowl remaining, time is ticking.

Seattle Seahawks RBs Cam Akers and/or Velus Jones Jr. could be options to fill in behind RB Kenneth Walker III, according to head coach Mike Macdonald on Monday, Jan. 19, now that RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) is out for the rest of the playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks RB George Holani (hamstring) is an option to return from the Reserve/Injured list, head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday, Jan. 19. Holani was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Nov. 29 due to a hamstring injury. 'I think we'll just let this play out this week,' Macdonald said, as the team scrambles to find a replacement for RB Zach Charbonnet (knee).
Link to storySeattle Seahawks OT Joshua Jones (knee) could possibly return to practice this week, head coach Mike Macdonald indicated Monday, Jan. 19.
Link to storyLos Angeles Rams LB Byron Young (knee) has been dealing with some knee soreness but should be available for the NFC Championship game, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Link to storyThe Dolphins have zeroed in on Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their new head coach, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: The two sides need to do a deal, and they are motivated to do so. One of the most coveted candidates, Hafley, 46, impressed as the Packers' defensive coordinator the past two seasons after a stint as Boston College HC. Now he reunites with GM Jon-Eric Sullivan in Miami.
San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (Achilles) said be believes he will return to the lineup before November and hopes to be able play closer to the start of the 2026 regular season.
Footballguys view: Kittle's optimism comes after he had surgery performed last week in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the team physician for the Rams and Dodgers. Kittle said ElAttrache termed it a "best-case scenario" because he suffered a "clean tear" near his soleus, higher on his Achilles tendon. Asked about his timeline, Kittle told reporters that he'd keep it a "surprise." However, he later said privately that he expected to be playing again well before November. We'll continue to monitor.

The Detroit Lions are hiring former Arizona Cardinals OC Drew Petzing as their offensive coordinator, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Monday, per sources informed of the situation.
Footballguys view: Petzing had been the Cardinals' offensive coordinator the past three seasons under Jonathan Gannon, who was fired by the team after the season. The expectation during the interviews was that head coach Dan Campbell would relinquish playcalling for whoever was hired. Detroit was still among the league leaders in total points per game (28.3) but struggled to find an offensive identity outside of home run plays this season despite having Pro Bowl selections Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs, among other playmakers. Under Ben Johnson, the Lions led the NFL with 33.2 points per game in 2024.
San Francisco 49ers LB Mykel Williams (knee) said he believes he will be ready to return to the field around training camp.
Link to storyCleveland Browns wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea is being hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as their new wide receivers coach, according to a source.
Footballguys view: O'Shea got into the NFL as a volunteer assistant with Kansas City in 2003. Over two decades later, he's back as Andy Reid remodels his offensive staff. Before his time in Cleveland, O'Shea spent a decade with the New England Patriots, coaching wide receivers from 2009 to 2018. He was part of three Super Bowl championship teams during that span.
Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (knee) tried to be medically cleared to play before the end of the 2025 season but was not able to return in time, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans.
Footballguys view: Ryans added that he's excited to see Dell back on the field next season. The speedy Dell dislocated his left kneecap and tore ligaments in that knee in December of last season. Through 25 NFL games, Dell has 98 catches for 1,376 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Tank Dell player page
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) said he will not need surgery on the toe injury he dealt with during the season.
Footballguys view: Purdy suffered a turf toe and AC joint sprain in his left shoulder in Week 1 that sidelined him for two games. He aggravated the toe injury in his Week 4 return and missed six more games. Purdy played well when healthy, completing 230 of 342 attempts for 2,569 yards, 22 touchdowns, and three INTs. He also ran the ball 47 times for 208 yards and three scores. Despite injuries to him and being shorthanded, Purdy's 19.9 points per game over nine games ranked sixth among all QBs.
Denver Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins (foot) will have his 21-day practice window opened this week and has a chance to be available for the AFC Championship game, according to sources.
Footballguys view: The Broncos have struggled to move the ball consistently on the ground ever since Dobbins went down with a Lisfranc sprain in Week 10. Now, with Bo Nix out due to injury, Jarrett Stidham will be making his first start since the finale of the 2023 season. Having a run game to lean on will make life easier for him. But Dobbins needs to be activated off the injured reserve first. There is no guarantee that he will be ready for Sunday. We'll continue monitoring.

Free-agent WR Josh Kelly (Texans) agreed to terms on a Reserve/Future contract with the Houston Texans Monday, Jan. 19, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills RB James Cook had a league-leading 935 rushing yards before contact during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Cook finished 2025 with 1,621 yards rushing, topping all NFL RBs. He was also second among running backs in yards per carry (minimum five games played), with a rate of 5.2 yards per attempt during the regular season. Cook, who finished the season as RB6 with 18.1 points per game, ended up with 12 games with 100-plus scrimmage yards (tied for most in the NFL), and the Bills were 11-1 in those games. They were 1-4 when he had fewer than 100 yards, further proving his worth to that offense. He'll be drafted as an RB1 in 2026.
Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor recorded a league-leading 787 rushing yards after contact this season.
Footballguys view: Taylor also led the NFL in total touchdowns during the 2025 NFL season with 20 (18 rushing). Beyond that, his 1,595 rushing yards were the second-most in football. Taylor also ranked ninth in yards per rush attempt, and he tied for third in rushes of at least 10 yards. All of that production came without Taylor producing a 100-yard rushing performance during the second half of the season. Big picture, Taylor, who finished 2025 as RB4, with 21.3 points per game, has now rushed for over 1,400 yards in each of the last two seasons.

Free-agent WR Jared Wayne (Texans) agreed to terms on a Reserve/Future contract with the Houston Texans Monday, Jan. 19, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

New England Patriots WR Mack Hollins' (abdomen) availability for the AFC Championship game is uncertain at this point, according to head coach Mike Vrabel. Hollins is currently on the Reserve/Injured list.
Footballguys view: Hollins is eligible to come off injured reserve this week after being placed on the list in late December. Hollins was a key offensive factor for New England in 2025, catching 46 passes for 550 yards with two touchdowns in 15 games. He was third on the team in receptions behind Stefon Diggs and Hunter Henry and fourth in receiving yards behind Diggs, Henry, and Kayshon Boutte. New England's first injury report of the week will be released on Wednesday.

Seattle Seahawks OT Charles Cross (foot) is considered day-to-day because of a foot injury, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) suffered a significant knee injury during the Divisional Round playoff game and will need to undergo surgery, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Footballguys view: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the injury is a torn ACL. That makes sense. While Macdonald didn't reveal the exact nature of the injury, he said Charbonnet would face "a long road back," potentially hinting at the running back missing time next season. Throughout the regular season, Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker combined to give the Seahawks a fearsome rushing attack. The team ranked 10th in the NFL with 2,096 rushing yards in 2025. Walker led the way with 1,027 yards, but Charbonnet was the hammer, scoring 12 of the team's 19 rushing scores.

Chicago Bears TE Colston Loveland (concussion) left the game Sunday, Jan. 18, with a concussion and did not return.
Footballguys view: Concussion aside, Loveland's rookie season was a success. After not surpassing 40 yards in the first six games, Loveland had 40 or more yards in 9-of-12 games the rest of the way. That included 118 yards and a winning touchdown in a wild win over the Bengals, then 94 and 91 yards in the last two games of the regular season. In addition, no rookie tight end had ever had more receiving yards in a single postseason than Loveland's 193 -- and that's in just two games. He'll be one of Caleb Williams' favorite targets for years to come.
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tanner Hudson received a one-year extension Monday, Jan. 19. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: As local observer Mike Petraglia noted, Hudson, who will be a seventh-year player in 2026, has played in 38 games with two starts for Cincinnati since joining the team in '22. He has caught 77 passes for 674 yards and four TDs for the Bengals, including 19 catches for 168 yards and two TDs in the 2025 campaign.

Chicago Bears running backs coach Eric Bieniemy has been requested for an interview for the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator post.
Footballguys view: Bieniemy was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City from 2018-2022. Matt Nagy closed out the 2025 season as the offensive coordinator with the Chiefs, but he has an expiring contract and is seen as a top candidate to land the head coaching job in Tennessee. Either way, it seems likely Nagy's time as OC in Kansas City is coming to an end.
Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard is interviewing with the Miami Dolphins Monday, Jan. 19, for their head coaching vacancy.
Footballguys view: Much of the focus on the Dolphins' head coaching search in recent days has been on their second meeting with Packers DC Jeff Hafley, but he's not the only candidate meeting with the team on Monday. Raiders DC Patrick Graham and Shepherd are both getting interviews today. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald notes that the two interviews will satisfy the Dolphins' Rooney Rule requirements, which means they'll be free to move forward with hiring Hafley or any other candidate they select. Hafley has interviews scheduled with the Titans and Raiders, but Miami is the frontrunner.

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich received a three-year extension Monday, Jan. 19. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Footballguys view: Although the Falcons finished an uninspiring 19th in points allowed and 15th in yards surrendered, the defense is chock full of talent, with a good mix of young up-and-comers and veterans. There were certainly growing pains and inconsistencies in Ulbrich's first season as DC, but the defense was one of the league's best against the pass for much of the first half of the season, and it put on a few prime-time showcases during Monday night wins over the Bills and Rams.

Buffalo BIlls general manager Brandon Beane was promoted to president of football operations Monday, Jan. 19.
Footballguys view: With Buffalo showing long-term confidence in Beane, he not only has received more responsibilities, but the move also illustrates owner Terry Pegula's trust in Beane's abilities and view of the organization. What the promotion will also do is put a spotlight on the work he is doing if the team falls short again. Beane, 49, now has full control of the football side of the team, which is a sign he will have more time with the new coach -- after he hires one -- to put in place whatever changes he sees fit.
The Buffalo Bills fired head coach Sean McDermott following nine years helming the team. McDermott's firing comes after the Buffalo Bills fell in the Divisional Round against the Denver Broncos in overtime on Saturday.
Footballguys view: McDermott won 106 games over nine years in Buffalo, including playoffs. But another disappointing playoff exit has change coming to Buffalo. The Bills are retaining GM Brandon Beane, who will help lead the team's first coaching search since 2017. The Bills' firing of McDermott makes it 10 total head-coaching openings, with the Giants' hiring of John Harbaugh and the Falcons' hiring of Kevin Stefanski filling two so far. As NFL Network's Mike Garafolo suggested, this is as wild a firing and hiring cycle as we've seen in quite some time, if ever.
Chicago Bears TE Colston Loveland (concussion) was evaluated for a concussion during the team's Divisional Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He did not return.
Link to storyHouston Texans RB Joe Mixon (foot) might not play in the NFL again, according to ESPN's Aaron Schatz, who writes that Mixon's 'career might be over' after the veteran missed all of the 2025 season dealing with a foot injury.
Footballguys view: Assuming that's the case, fantasy investors can expect the Texans to add more firepower in the backfield this offseason. Houston wasn't anticipating that Mixon would miss the season, so it made sense not to overly invest in the position in the 2025 offseason. The Texans drafted only Woody Marks in the fourth and signed Nick Chubb. Marks was second on the team in scrimmage yards (911), but ESPN.com's DJ Bien-Aime believes adding there could elevate the offseason in 2026.

Chicago Bears S Jaquan Brisker is expected to have an 'outside market' that 'prices him out of Chicago,' in the opinion of Dan Graziano.
Link to storyChicago Bears WR DJ Moore is likely to be traded during the offseason, in the opinion of ESPN's Ben Solak, who notes that Moore has little bonus money left, allowing the team to move on from him even though he still has four years remaining on his deal. Solak adds that the team is set at the position with WRs Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III, and that Moore will have a market.
Footballguys view: As SI.com's Khari Thompson suggested, Moore hasn't consistently been the difference-maker he's being paid to be. And if he's going to give the ball away in important moments -- and many observers contend Moore stopped running on a route that allowed Kam Curl to make an easy pick that led to the Rams' OT win in last night's Divisional Playoff loss, he might have to go. Trading him feels like a distinct possibility this offseason.
