Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua said that he 'hasn't really thought' about an extension with the club, even though he is eligible to receive one. He is entering the final season of his rookie contract and could command a deal similar to the four-year, $168.6 million extension given to Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba in March, which made him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.'s chemistry with QB Trevor Lawrence in the deep passing game has been a focus this offseason, according to head coach Liam Coen. 'Our average depth of target went up towards the second half of the season, but we've got to keep pushing that envelope a little bit - especially with him and BT, that connection,' Coen said.

Green Bay Packers RB Christopher Brooks took first-team reps during 11-on-11 drills at OTAs on Wednesday, May 27.
Footballguys view: Brooks' strength is his passing down skills, but with Emanuel Wilson gone to Seattle in free agency and MarShawn Lloyd once again "working off to the side", Brooks is the primary backup to Josh Jacobs, who was in the news because of domestic violence allegations earlier this week. We should know if the Packers expect Jacobs to miss time due to a suspension by whether they decide to improve their running back bench.
San Francisco 49ers RB Isaac Guerendo (pectoral) suffered a torn pectoral this offseason and is expected to be sidelined until around the end of training camp, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Guerendo was already viewed as behind third round pick Kaelon Black and last year's fifth round pick Jordan James on the depth chart. It's possible that Guerendo ends up on the NFI or PUP list to start the season. This news almost insures that the 2024 fourth round pick will be a non-factor in the 49ers backfield this season.
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told the media on Thursday, May 29, that the team is having an open competition for the backup quarterback spot between Cade Klubnik, Bailey Zappe, and Brady Cook.
Footballguys view: The fourth round pick Klubnik has a good chance to beat out Zappe, who has leveled out as a QB3 on the fringe of rosters after getting a cup of coffee with the Patriots earlier in his career, and Cook, who looked overwhelmed when he got on the field as an undrafted free agent last year.
Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson said he doesn't want to discuss contract negotiations but 'absolutely' wants to remain with the Ravens.
Footballguys view: The team has said they intend to sign Jackson to a long extension, but there could be differences of opinion about the amount of money, length of the contract, and amount of guaranteed money. If the Ravens and Jackson can't get something worked out before this year, he'll be going into the last year of his contract in 2027.

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson and QB Shedeur Sanders are the main candidates for the starting quarterback job, but offensive coordinator Travis Switzer said there is no favorite for the job at this point. Switzer said the team is happy with the progress of both quarterbacks.
Footballguys view: This is a different tone from long time Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot's report making it sound like Watson was the likely Week 1 starter earlier in the offseason and a recent report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that Watson had a "leg up" in the competition. We'll put more weight on what the coaches say for now, but know that the veteran does have an advantage because the team is installing a new offense. No matter who wins the job, the Browns are probably going to be in the market for a new starting quarterback next year.

Tennessee Titans first-round draft choice DE Keldric Faulk signed a four-year contract with the Titans Wednesday, May 27. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: The Titans were high enough on Faulk to trade back into the first round to land him. Faulk has a very high ceiling because of his size, strength, and athleticism. He can play inside and outside on the defensive line and Robert Saleh's staff be able to develop him in multiple roles, which could be anywhere from putting his hand on the ground and lining head up on a guard to standing up at outside linebacker.
New York Giants first-round draft choice LB Arvell Reese signed a four-year contract with the Giants Friday, May 29. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers told the media on Friday, May 29, he expects to be 'the standard' in the team's new offense and to do that, he needs to stay healthy in 2026.
Link to storyDetroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) is working his way back but will not be practicing in the team's OTAs, according to head coach Dan Campbell.
Footballguys view: LaPorta's surgery was for a herniated disc in his back, which on the less worrisome side of the range of reasons a player has to have back surgery. We'll be watching his recovery in camp. If LaPorta isn't 100% to begin the season, Jameson Williams could have a big September.

New York Giants WR Gunner Olszewski is undergoing testing for a torn Achilles that he may have suffered on Friday, May 29.

New York Giants WR Gunner Olszewski went down with a non-contact injury at the team's OTA session on Friday, May 29. No details of his injury were immediately made available.

New York Giants first-round draft choice OT Francis Mauigoa signed a four-year contract with the Giants Wednesday, May 27. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal does include a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: Mauigoa should start out at guard and help the Giants offensive line right away with his natural power and footwork. He has a high ceiling whether he ends up moving back to his college position of tackle or stays at guard, and the Giants reportedly had the #10 overall pick in their top four.
Pittsburgh Steelers senior special teams coach Derius Swinton was let go Friday, May 29, after a violation of club policies, according to sources.
Link to storyNew England Patriots OG Michael Onwenu, who had no guaranteed money remaining in the final year of his three-year, $57 million pact, has signed a revised deal for 2026. His cap charge is reduced by $7.5 million, and he receives $10 million in guarantees and bonuses.
Footballguys view: This could be a move in preparation for the Patriots to take on AJ Brown's contract and any extensions the two sides could agree upon when he gets traded to the Patriots. Stay tuned.
Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue will compete with RB Malik Davis and RB Phil Mafah for the No. 2 running back job.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd (undisclosed) was limited to individual drills at OTAs Wednesday, May 27.
Link to storySan Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey did not practice Thursday, and the team plans to take a 'cautious' approach with McCaffrey throughout the offseason program and training camp.
Footballguys view: McCaffrey soon will turn 30. That raises questions about managing his workload moving forward. "I think the workload in our sport is really monitored in practice, not in games," he said. So for McCaffrey, workload management happens in the days between the games. After an Achilles injury followed by a knee injury limited McCaffrey to four games in 2024, he started every game in 2025 and finished with more than 400 touches. Even if it makes sense to lighten his load, the Niners have rarely done that in games. We don't expect them to start this season.

San Francisco 49ers RB Isaac Guerendo (pectoral) has undergone surgery to repair a torn pectoral.
Footballguys view: It was already expected to be a competitive battle for touches in the 49ers' running back room in 2026. Now, Guerendo faces another obstacle. "It's not a season-ender," Shanahan said. "But it's right around the end of training camp." With second-year man Jordan James and 2026 third-round pick Kaelon Black competing for reps behind Christian McCaffrey, an absence isn't great news for Guerendo. We'll watch for more.
Chicago Bears CB Cam Lewis (undisclosed) left the voluntary workout early Thursday, May 28, because of an undisclosed issue.

New Orleans Saints WR Jordyn Tyson did not participate in seven-on-seven drills during the voluntary workout Thursday, May 28. The Saints plan to have him more involved in upcoming workouts with the hope that he is a full participant when training camp begins.
Footballguys view: As USA Today noted, injury concerns were the biggest red flag on Tyson's college scouting report; he played through a hamstring issue last season that lingered into the pre-draft process, and the Saints are managing him carefully. Taking it slowly and not rushing him into full reps before his body is ready for it in May just makes sense. We'll monitor and report back as needed.
New Orleans Saints WR Trey Palmer (hamstring) and WR Mason Tipton (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Thursday, May 28.

New Orleans Saints RB Kendre Miller (knee) is still recovering from the knee injury he suffered during the 2025 season and is unlikely to do much during offseason workouts, according to head coach Kellen Moore.
Footballguys view: Miller hasn't played more than eight games in a season throughout his three-year NFL career. The focus right now is simply on getting healthy, staying healthy, and staying on track to return to the field. Miller has certainly shown upside when available, showcasing a burst and physicality that made him an intriguing Day 2 draft pick. However, availability is the best ability, as some say, and that's been the biggest obstacle for him early in his career. The Saints landed former Jacksonville Jaguar Travis Etienne Jr. on a four-year deal. He's expected to be the lead back this year.

San Francisco 49ers QB Mac Jones (shoulder) did not throw at the voluntary workout Thursday, May 28, because of a sore shoulder.
Footballguys view: Jones received a pay raise from the 49ers, and many expected to see Brock Purdy's primary backup participate during Thursday's practice. According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, the decision was precautionary. "His shoulder was a little sore today," Shanahan explained. "He said he could have gone through it, but it was unnecessary, and it gave a chance for other guys to get more reps." We'll follow up as needed.

Green Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd has looked good so far this offseason, but head coach Matt LaFleur said Lloyd will have to show consistency during offseason workouts and training camp in order to have a role in the offense.
Footballguys view: The Packers let running back Emanuel Wilson depart in free agency and did not replace him with a pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. That's viewed as a signal of the team's remaining confidence in 2024 Lloyd, who has been limited by injuries to just one appearance since his arrival. The Packers also have Chris Brooks, Pierre Strong Jr., and Damien Martinez behind Josh Jacobs, who is now dealing with off-field issues. One concern: Lloyd is not working fully at this point -- something all involved need to see when training camp opens.
San Francisco 49ers RB Sincere McCormick was waived Thursday, May 28.

Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (knee) worked on a side field during the voluntary workout Thursday, May 28.
Footballguys view: Dell dislocated his knee cap and tore his ACL, MCL, and LCL while catching a touchdown pass against the Kansas City Chiefs two seasons ago. Dell underwent a pair of surgeries and has made significant progress, but he's still not ready to practice. The Texans are taking a patient, big-picture approach with Dell. He has been running routes and cutting for months, but not at full speed. The hope is that he can ramp up his participation by training camp and regain his old dynamic form. There are no guarantees, but it's great to see him making progress.
