Patriots | No Word On Whether Stefon Diggs Has Passed Important Physical    Tue Jun 3, 03:52 PM

Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs showed up for Monday's OTA session. His presence raises an obvious question. Has he passed the all-important physical mentioned in several portions of his contract? The Patriots have declined to answer whether the physical has been passed.

Footballguys view: Diggs was on hand for Monday's OTA session; he was limited to individual drills. The physical, if passed, will clear Diggs to fully practice and play. In addition, Diggs' $12 million signing bonus is expressly tied to passing that physical. Until Diggs passes the physical, the Patriots (who have "no plans" to release him) have a potential escape hatch from his contract. Stay tuned. This story will continue to draw headlines until it's resolved.

Patriots | Jahlani Tavai likely done until training camp    Tue Jun 3, 03:14 PM

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots LB Jahlani Tavai (calf) suffered a calf injury on Monday, June 2, that is expected to keep him sidelined until training camp, according to sources.

Footballguys view: When Tavai had to exit practice on Monday, reporters noted that it looked like a potentially significant injury. So this latest report is good news. As pointed out by Mike Reiss of ESPN, Tavai had been in the mix at inside linebacker during the offseason program, though free-agent signee Robert Spillane has been leading the charge.

Ravens | Zay Flowers feeling fine    Tue Jun 3, 02:52 PM

Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers (knee) told reporters on Tuesday, June 3, that his knee feels great and he is not being limited during spring practices.

Footballguys view: In case you missed it, Flowers posted a video on social media last month that showed him catching passes from QB Lamar Jackson. Adding to the positive vibes, head coach John Harbaugh confirmed the knee injury Flowers suffered last season did not require surgery. He will be the team's no.1 wide receiver again. Flowers is coming off back-to-back 100-target seasons (and his first 1,000-yard season in 2024). He's WR21 on the Footballguys 2025 Draft Projections.

Falcons | Kyle Pitts injury update    Tue Jun 3, 02:40 PM

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts (foot) is not practicing during organized team activities this spring due to a strained muscle in his foot, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Nothing new here. Instead, we get further confirmation of what's been widely reported for more than a week now. Ensuring Pitts is healthy heading into the season is important for the team for a player heading into a make-or-break season. Remember, Pitts finished the 2024 season as TE15, but he was TE23 on a points-per-game basis (with 7.7 points a week). He's being drafted in that same range in early best balls, so gambling on a rebound isn't cost-prohibitive.

Texans | Houston being cautious with C.J. Stroud    Tue Jun 3, 02:17 PM

Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud (shoulder) has taken limited reps during the team's offseason practices, but head coach DeMeco Ryans noted on Tuesday, June 3, that Stroud is just experiencing 'general soreness' in his shoulder and the team is taking 'extra precaution' with him.

Footballguys view: Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, a well-connected Houston beat writer, recently confirmed the issue was a tight pectoral muscle that is considered "relatively minor." Meanwhile, we'll remind you that few quarterbacks fell further from meeting expectations than Stroud, who was drafted as QB6 last summer before finishing the regular season as QB18. This year, Stroud is going as QB16 in Round 10 in early best ball drafts. That's a bit off his QB20 Footballguys Projection, but it's a reasonable price for bargain hunters willing to bet minimal draft capital on a QB2 who delivered QB1 numbers just two years ago.

Titans | Cam Ward progressing    Tue Jun 3, 11:51 AM

Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward has progressed already in camp, according to head coach Brian Callahan, who said he's pleased with Ward's progress. Ward has progressed in understanding throws he made in college won't necessarily be available to make in the NFL, and Callahan said he's picking up the mental part quickly.

Footballguys view: This isn't a surprise after a report by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Monday indicated coaches have been impressed with Ward's work ethic. Fowler added that while Ward has been sharing snaps with QB Will Levis, the rookie will start receiving more work with the first-team offense in advance of training camp. While there's something to be said for players with locked-in roles, Ward, who opens as QB26 on the Footballguys redraft projections, has much to prove at a position with loads of quality depth.

Steelers | PIT asked about Jonnu Smith    Tue Jun 3, 10:28 AM

Miami Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith was the subject of conversations with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they're not expected to trade for him.

Footballguys view: Smith, who was not present for Miami's voluntary OTA practices last week, expressed interest in the team reworking the two-year deal he signed last offseason. But Drew Rosenhaus, Smith's agent, said Sunday night that his client's "first choice" is to remain with the Dolphins after he set a franchise record for receptions (88) and receiving yards (884) by a tight end last season. Smith led all Dolphins players in receptions and finished behind only Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, and George Kittle leaguewide in receiving yards by a tight end. Smith is going as TE7 in early best-ball drafts.

Steelers | Gabe Davis to visit Steelers    Tue Jun 3, 10:25 AM

Free-agent WR Gabe Davis (Jaguars) is expected to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, June 5.

Footballguys view: Davis spent last season with the Jaguars, appearing in 10 games. He caught 20 passes for 239 yards with a pair of touchdowns before suffering a torn meniscus and missing the rest of the year. The Jags released Davis last month. This will be Davis' third reported visit with a team since he became a free agent earlier this offseason. Davis has also visited with San Francisco and the New York Giants.

Vikings | Jordan Mason was in elite company in 2024    Tue Jun 3, 12:45 AM

Minnesota Vikings RB Jordan Mason finished third in the NFL behind only Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry and Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley in a Next Gen Stats metric designed to 'assess the degree to which running backs generate more yards than expected,' per The Athletic's Alec Lewis.

Footballguys view: The Vikings traded for Mason, who ran for 100 yards on 20 carries against them in Minnesota last season, in March. They made the deal a week after signing Aaron Jones to a lucrative, two-year $20 million extension with $13 million guaranteed. While it's safe to assume the Vikings still see Jones as their lead back after a strong 2024 season, fantasy drafters in early best balls don't see much of a gap between the two. Jones is being drafted as RB28 in Round 7; Mason is going as RB32 in Round 9.

Ravens | Keaton Mitchell feeling good    Mon Jun 2, 08:47 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell said his knee is feeling as good as it did before he suffered his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: Mitchell, who averaged 8.4 yards per carry on 47 runs in his rookie year, has been impressive in early workouts. With Derrick Henry leading the way and Justice Hill coming off a career year, there aren't too many more offensive snaps for other running backs in Baltimore. But Mitchell has proven he doesn't need too many snaps to make a significant impact with his big-play ability. He could have an immediate impact in the return game, as he averaged 31.2 yards on his five returns last season.

Titans | Cam Ward to see more work with starters    Mon Jun 2, 07:41 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward has been sharing snaps with QB Will Levis but will start receiving more work with the first-team offense as the offseason practices go on, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Footballguys view: "The Titans coaches have been really impressed with his work ethic so far." Fowler said of Ward, "They knew he was a hard worker coming in, but I was told they had to kick him out of the offices at times." It makes sense. As USA Today suggested, "Ward didn't go from zero-star recruit to the first overall pick in the NFL draft by resting on his laurels." It's encouraging. But it doesn't change the fact that Ward's fantasy value is limited in redraft formats.

Patriots | Stefon Diggs staying with team    Mon Jun 2, 07:15 PM

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs is not in danger of being released this offseason.

Footballguys view: Former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak, now a member of the local media, said last week that Diggs' release was "on the table." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the Patriots have no plans to release the veteran wideout. Welcome to the NFL news cycle in June. The uncertainty began last week when a viral video showed Diggs providing a baggie of pink powder to women on a boat. On Monday, Diggs was present for the Patriots' organized team activities, working on a limited basis. Stay tuned. We're sure to hear more on Diggs before all is said and done.

Jets | Mason Taylor in line to start?    Mon Jun 2, 07:08 PM

New York Jets TE Mason Taylor seems to be the leading candidate for the tight end job entering training camp, in the opinion of JetsWire's Craig Moffett.

Footballguys view: Taylor opening the season as the starter would not be a massive suprise. Veteran Jeremy Ruckert has been disappointing, although he hasn't gotten many opportunities to shine as a receiving threat. Stone Smartt is an interesting dart throw and could push Ruckert for the backup spot behind Taylor, who will be a capable security blanket for Justin Fields in the passing game.

Dolphins | Jonnu Smith wants to stay with Miami     Mon Jun 2, 06:15 PM

Miami Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith would prefer to remain with the Dolphins, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Smith is looking for a pay raise after a productive 2024 season.

Footballguys view: Smith generated 88 catches for 884 yards with eight touchdowns in his first season in Mike McDaniel's system, finishing first on the team in catches and touchdown grabs and second in receiving yards. As NFL.com suggests, the Dolphins surely don't want to lose a key playmaker in the offense, particularly at a position with no proven backup on board. We'll continue to watch for more.

Jets | Braelon Allen to be more involved in 2025?    Mon Jun 2, 03:18 PM

New York Jets RB Braelon Allen could have a 'pretty significant' role in the offense this season, according to SI.com's Albert Breer.

Footballguys view: Breece Hall heads into training camp as the clear-cut RB1. But after a breakout 2023 season, Hall's numbers started to decline in 2024, and head coach Aaron Glenn made it clear that Allen and Isaiah Davis will be factors this year. Glenn and OC Tanner Engstrand come from a Detroit team that found plenty of opportunities for two running backs to succeed (Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery). The team is also transitioning to quarterback Justin Fields under center, which adds another threat to the running game that will take defensive attention away from Allen.

Browns | Dillon Gabriel failing to impress?    Mon Jun 2, 02:22 PM

Cleveland Browns third-round draft choice QB Dillon Gabriel 'does not look like an NFL quarterback,' according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson.'Dillon Gabriel does not look like an NFL quarterback to me. Like zero percent. ... I just don't think any other team was taking him in the top-100 or even the top-150. If I am wrong and the Cleveland Browns have their quarterback, that would be great. One of these years, I would love to cover a normal franchise and a rookie quarterback that sticks around for more than 6-to-18 months. But if it's Dillon Gabriel, I will be beyond shocked,' Jackson told Zach Gelb of the Infinity Sports Network.

Footballguys view: As Footballguy Alfredo Brown wrote in the Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide 3.0, "Gabriel landing at the tail end of Day 2 was one of the biggest surprises of the draft." Brown added it's even more shocking considering the selection of Shedeur Sanders less than 50 picks later. At this point, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett are the early favorites to win the Week 1 starting job.

Jaguars | Jacksonville not looking to move on from Travis Etienne    Mon Jun 2, 01:40 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne 'has done everything we have asked him to do and more,' according to head coach Liam Coen on Monday, June 2.

Footballguys view: Etienne missed his rookie season with a Lisfranc injury but had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons before rushing 150 times for 558 yards and two touchdowns last season. The Jaguars also have Tank Bigsby back along with fourth-rounder Bhayshul Tuten and seventh-rounder LeQuint Allen. Etienne, projected to finish as RB35, is our top fantasy prospect in this backfield.

Falcons | Kyle Pitts sitting out with a minor injury    Mon Jun 2, 01:22 PM

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts (foot) has been at every offseason meeting but has not participated during organized team activities due to a foot injury, according to head coach Raheem Morris.'Extremely cautious with Kyle right now and what he's got going on. Obviously, don't talk about injuries this time of year, but (we are) definitely being cautious with him, so you won't see him. He's been here, he's done such a great job. ... He's been in every single thing that we've done other than the field, and he's been absolutely outstanding to be around,' Morris said.

Footballguys view: Pitts, who had 47 receptions for 602 yards with four touchdown catches last season, has been unable to come close to his rookie numbers in 2021 when he had 68 catches for 1,026 yards and a touchdown grab. Since then, though, he has struggled with leg injuries and inconsistency. The Falcons picked up Pitts' fifth-year rookie contract option last offseason, so 2025 will be pivotal in determining what he's able to garner in free agency, either in Atlanta or elsewhere.

Lions | Frank Ragnow calling it a career    Mon Jun 2, 01:07 PM

Detroit Lions C Frank Ragnow announces his retirement on social media on Monday, June 2.

Footballguys view: Ragnow, who turned 29 in May, spent his entire career with the Lions. A first-round pick in 2018, he started all 96 games he played. While Ragnow has battled through several injuries, he was also a three-time, second-team All-Pro selection, a four-time Pro Bowler, and an integral part of a unit that ranked No. 2 on Footballguy Matt Bitonti's 2025 Offensive Line Rankings. Multiple reporters on the Lions beat note second-round pick Tate Ratledge had been taking snaps at center during the team's offseason program.

Patriots | Stefon Diggs in the building    Mon Jun 2, 11:04 AM

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs (knee) reported to organized team activities Monday, June 2.

Footballguys view: Diggs' off-field drama has drawn headlines in recent days. Most recently, local observer Scott Zolak suggested Diggs is in danger of being released. So, with all the noise, it's great that Diggs reported for voluntary sessions. It's also great that Diggs, who has finished as a WR2 or better (including five WR1 finishes) every season from 2017 through 2023, is currently being drafted as WR45 in Round 7. Even if he opens the season at less-than-full speed, coming off a torn ACL suffered last October, he could be very productive in this offense once he hits stride.

Titans | Tyrion Davis-Price signs with Titans    Mon Jun 2, 11:01 AM

Free-agent RB Tyrion Davis-Price (Eagles) signed a two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans Monday, June 2. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: While this signing seems inconsequential on the surface, it comes shortly after head coach Brian Callahan talked about using more of an "even split" with Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, and a third back in 2025. Veteran Julius Chestnut and rookie Kalel Mullings, a sixth-round pick in last month's NFL Draft, are also on the roster. Davis-Price, a 2022 third-round pick by the 49ers, will join the competition to be that third back.

Steelers | Aaron Rodgers hasn't committed to PIT    Mon Jun 2, 10:37 AM

Free-agent QB Aaron Rodgers (Jets) hasn't committed to the Pittsburgh Steelers, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero said on The Rich Eisen Show. 'I have been told that he has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he's coming. Certainly, all indications -- if you just look at it logically -- are that he's coming, based on his comments about, 'Hey, there's a team that plays in Chicago I might play for; I'm not playing in New Orleans,'' Pelissero remarked. 'He took one visit [with the Steelers]. He's been throwing with DK Metcalf. He talks all the time with Mike Tomlin. I know he's talked with Arthur Smith. So, there are all these signs that he's coming, but he has not affirmatively said, 'Hey, June 9 -- book me a ticket, I'm coming in and I'm going to join this team.''

Footballguys view: Late last month, Steelers owner Art Rooney II said the team would wait "a little while longer." Pittsburgh's OTAs run through June 5. A three-day mandatory minicamp on June 10 follows that and ends the team's offseason sessions. So, Rooney and the Steelers can't wait much longer if they want to see Rodgers work with the team ahead of training camp. Rodgers being the team's quarterback this fall is still the most likely outcome. But the window for resolution is closing. Without Rodgers, the quarterbacks will be Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and rookie Will Howard.

Chiefs | Isiah Pacheco bulked up    Mon Jun 2, 12:48 AM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco said he added muscle this offseason and is back up to 216 pounds.

Footballguys view: Pacheco started last season with 15 carries in Week 1 and 19 carries in Week 2 before suffering a broken leg. Upon his return, he never eclipsed 14 rushing attempts, and he amassed just 175 yards with no scores over his final five regular-season games. Pacheco's explosiveness and efficiency were stunted, and the Chiefs noticed. The team didn't hand off to him more than five times in any of its three playoff games. If a bulked-up Pacheco can regain past momentum, his current RB29 ADP will be a great value.

Eagles | Dallas Goedert did not request trade    Mon Jun 2, 12:41 AM

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert did not request a trade earlier this offseason or ask to be released after it had been reported that he would have to take a pay cut for 2025 in order to remain on the team, according to PHLY's Zach Berman. He eventually agreed to terms on a one-year, $10 million restructured deal, with an opportunity to earn an additional $1 million in incentives, after previously having been scheduled to make $14.25 million in 2025.

Footballguys view: While availability has been an issue, Goedert has played the 24th-most games by a tight end since 2019; he still has the fifth-most games with 50 or more yards. He's had 50 or more yards in 44 percent of his games during those six years, and only Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Mark Andrews, T.J. Hockenson, and Darren Waller have reached 50 yards more frequently among tight ends who've played at least 50 games since 2019. Goedert, who can clearly be a factor when healthy, is being drafted as TE17 in early best balls.

Buccaneers | Jalen McMillan looking to improve    Mon Jun 2, 12:40 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Jalen McMillan said he was focused on improving small details over the offseason. 'Just be where my feet are, have intent with all my actions,' McMillan said. 'Definitely to get stronger, get faster, get smarter, just keep my circle tight.'

Footballguys view: McMillan pulled in 37 receptions for 461 yards and eight touchdowns across his entire rookie campaign, but most of those numbers came between Weeks 14-18 when he went on a five-game TD streak with seven scores and 316 yards on 24 catches. Nonetheless, with Mike Evans and a healthy Chris Godwin sitting atop the depth chart, McMillan will have to compete with veteran Sterling Shepard and first-round pick Emeka Egbuka for the WR3 spot. McMillan's attitude is great, but his Footballguys projection -- WR75 -- reflects the uncertainty of his role.

Packers | Jayden Reed looking to reduce drops    Sun Jun 1, 06:31 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jayden Reed said he has been working with the JUGS machine every day this offseason in hopes of reducing his dropped passes this upcoming season, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.

Footballguys view: Reed is a talented and versatile weapon, but he dropped 10 of his 79 targets and had at least one drop in nine games during the 2024 season, according to Pro Football Focus. His 10 drops ranked second among wide receivers, while his drop percentage of 15.4 percent ranked as the third highest among receivers with at least 40 targets. Not all the catching numbers were poor -- Reed did complete 8-of-12 contested catches in 2024. Whatever the case, more consistent production would benefit the Packers and fantasy investors alike.

Lions | Isaac TeSlaa sits out practice    Sun Jun 1, 06:04 PM

Detroit Lions WR Isaac TeSlaa (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Friday, May 30.

Footballguys view: Head coach Dan Campbell indicated in his pre-practice press conference that the Lions were operating with an abundance of caution on the injury front, which is understandable after the dreadful rash of injuries derailed the playoff push in 2024. So, we shouldn't read much into Teslaa's absence until we learn more.

Commanders | OC impressed with Brian Robinson    Sun Jun 1, 05:41 PM

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. has been very focused during offseason workouts, according to offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

Footballguys view: It is a contract year for Robinson, taken in the third round by Washington in the 2022 draft, and Commanders GM Adam Peters drafted a running back (Jacory Croskey-Merritt) to compete for a roster spot. Kingsbury might also want to offer some runs to rookie Jaylin Lane or Deebo Samuel, both primarily receivers, but they've proven they can run the ball. The questions surrounding Robinson's fade last year and how much of it was injury will no doubt have Kingsbury looking very closely at his running backs room in 2025. He loves the acquisition of Samuel and the diversity he can bring to the offense.

Bengals | Mike Gesicki more comfortable    Sun Jun 1, 04:26 PM

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mike Gesicki said he is becoming more comfortable in the offseason entering his second season with the team and has a better understanding of what QB Joe Burrow does. 'I think the biggest thing is now that I'm in the same system, I'm not worrying about myself as much,' Gesicki said. 'I can concentrate on the defense more, and knowing Joe, I know I'm going to get that freedom out there.'

Footballguys view: Gesicki's connection with Burrow helped him record 65 receptions in 2024, more than his previous two seasons combined, making him a viable element in the Bengals' powerhouse passing offense. Those 65 catches and 665 yards trailed only his 2021 season with the Miami Dolphins (73 receptions, 780 yards). Gesicki also had two touchdowns and had 38 catches that were first downs. Gesicki finished last season as TE13, but his 8.4 points per game ranked 19th. Still, Gesicki, going as TE23, offers value as the third option in the NFL's pass-heaviest offense.

49ers | George Kittle not a full participant    Sun Jun 1, 03:44 PM

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle participated in individual drills and some team drills during practice Thursday, May 29.

Footballguys view: This doesn't sound especially worrisome. Kittle, RB Christian McCaffrey, and DE Nick Bosa all had a bit of a reduced workload but also participated in individual drills and some of the no-helmet 11 versus 11. We'll watch for more, but going easy on proven veterans in OTAs makes a lot of sense.

Falcons | Darnell Mooney may be more involved    Sun Jun 1, 03:25 PM

Atlanta Falcons WR Darnell Mooney is expected to be more involved in the passing game this upcoming season, according to wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard.

Footballguys view: Mooney had 64 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with the Falcons. His 15.5 yards-per-catch average ranked third among players with at least 60 receptions. The vast majority of Mooney's production last year came with quarterback Kirk Cousins. This year, Michael Penix Jr. is the Falcons' starter. So, Penix and Mooney will have to build upon the bond they began forming when Penix took over the role in Week 16. Mooney is being drafted as WR47 in early best balls, just ahead of his WR45 Footballguys Projection.

Patriots | Stefon Diggs could be released    Sun Jun 1, 11:37 AM

The New England Patriots are considering releasing WR Stefon Diggs, according to Scott Zolak of 98.5 The Sports Hub. On Wednesday, May 28, a video surfaced of Diggs partying on a yacht during Memorial Day weekend with an unidentified pink substance in his possession while surrounded by three women. Zolak claims that the viral video is not the only reason why the organization is considering cutting ties with him, although he did not elaborate on other possible reasons.

Footballguys view: While Zolak believes Diggs could be cut, he contends the wideout should be retained. "I say he shouldn't be cut because I think he would help Drake Maye and this offense and Josh McDaniels because you would have a true viable guy that would set coverage. Right now, you still don't have a guy who sets coverage. I'm sorry." If healthy, Diggs will significantly upgrade a Patriots' wide receiver room that also includes DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk, and Javon Baker.
