Link to storyRams quarterback Matthew Stafford practiced for the first time during training camp on Monday, with the team noting that he was a full participant in an hour-long practice. Head coach Sean McVay told reporters that Stafford looked good practicing, but added that he doesn't have any further updates. "It was good to be able to have Matthew out there. He did a good job today," McVay said. "I think there was a lot of intended information, but there are no updates. We're going to keep it a day, and really, a week at a time."
Footballguys view: McVay did not share what the rest of the week would be like when it comes to Stafford's practice schedule. McVay also would not go into a level of confidence for Stafford being ready for the opener. "I think that would be putting the cart way before the horse," McVay said, via Gary Klein of the L.A. Times. "I thought he did a good job today." Stafford, 37, had not practiced in training camp until Monday as he's been dealing with a disc issue in his back. We'll continue to follow up as developments warrant. |

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Calvin Austin (abdomen) worked on the side during practice Monday, Aug. 18, and said he is following the team's plan for him.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins TE Darren Waller (undisclosed) is still on the Reserve/Injured list, and head coach Mike McDaniel said there is no timetable for his return.
Footballguys view: Waller, who turns 33 next month, was acquired by the Dolphins in a July trade with the New York Giants. The veteran tight end is returning from retirement after sitting out the entire 2024 NFL season. Miami placed Waller on the PUP list at the start of training camp. We'll continue to watch for more, but with Waller being drafted as TE28, he has a lot to prove before being viewed as fantasy relevant. |

Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (calf) is not expected to practice this week because of his calf injury, and head coach Mike McDaniel said the plan is to have Achane ready for Week 1.
Footballguys view: As Miami Herald Omar Kelly noted, calves are typically viewed as tricky injuries, especially for players who rely heavily on their speed, such as Achane, because it could lead to other strains. With Achane sidelined, Miami will likely lean on Jaylen Wright, who has struggled this exhibition season, averaging 1.5 yards per attempt on 13 carries, and rookie Ollie Gordon II to handle the tailback workload in the final preseason game and during the practices that lead up to the regular-season kickoff. We'll be watching this one closely as Week 1 draws nearer. |
New England Patriots WR Efton Chism III (leg) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 18.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings WR Jalen Nailor (hand) is considered week-to-week because of a hand injury. Head coach Kevin O'Connell will not say if surgery is an option for Nailor.
Footballguys view: If the injury keeps Nailor out into the regular season, the Vikings will be thin at wide receiver. While Justin Jefferson is returning to practice after missing weeks with a hamstring injury, Jordan Addison is suspended for the first three weeks of the year. Lucky Jackson, third-round pick Tai Felton, and Jeshaun Jones are next on the depth chart for the Vikings. Nailor, who had 28 catches for 414 yards and six touchdowns for the Vikings last season, would be the presumptive starter with Addison out. |
Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring) will be at least a limited participant during practice Monday, Aug. 18, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Footballguys view: Jefferson has been out since the second practice of training camp with a hamstring injury, and he was scheduled to be re-evaluated this week. It seems that assessment went well. "You'll see him take part in bits and pieces of it," O'Connell said. "It'll be kind of a ramp up." The Vikings play their first game three weeks from Monday, which gives Jefferson time to work his way up to full speed before the season opens in Chicago. Jordan Addison's three-game suspension makes having Jefferson all the more important for first-time starter J.J. McCarthy and the Minnesota offense. |

Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring) is dealing with a sore hamstring and may not be available for the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 18, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Footballguys view: McMillan, the eighth overall selection of the 2025 NFL draft, did not participate in Monday's practice. "T-Mac had a really sore hamstring," Canales told reporters. "Imaging looked fine, but he just kinda all stoved up . . . We just thought we'd shut him down for a couple of days and turn him back around." McMillan recorded two receptions for a game-high 43 yards in the preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns on Aug. 8. He was targeted twice, to no avail, during Saturday's outing in Houston. We'll continue to watch for more on this in coming days. |
Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton (elbow) has a minor elbow injury and would be available if it was the regular season, according to head coach Dave Canales.

Kansas City LB Felix Anudike-Uzomah (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury and is a candidate for the Reserve/Injured list, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Green Bay Packers WR Romeo Doubs (back) is participating in practice Monday, Aug. 18.
Footballguys view: Doubs missed nearly a week of practice after suffering an apparent back injury due to a collision last Tuesday. Getting him back on the field in at least a limited capacity is a positive, especially with Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks already dinged up in one way or another. Over his first three seasons in the NFL, Doubs has accumulated 1,700 receiving yards on 147 receptions with 15 touchdowns to his name. With a 16th-round price, Doubs offers a nice floor for those who took risks earlier in their drafts. |
Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. will not play in the preseason game Monday, Aug. 18, according to sources. There is a possibility Robinson is traded before the start of the season.
Footballguys view: In fact, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the decision to have Robinson sit out is a mutual one as the trade talks play out. Robinson is listed as the top back on the Commanders' depth chart, but surveying trade interest suggests they don't think he's a vital piece to their offensive puzzle in 2025. Austin Ekeler, Chris Rodriguez Jr., Jeremy McNichols, and seventh-round pick Jacory Croskey-Merritt are the backs behind Robinson on the depth chart. But make no mistake: Croskey-Merritt's impressive camp appears to be a driving factor here. |
Free-agent QB Bryce Perkins (Rams) signed with the Carolina Panthers Monday, Aug. 18. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also placed TE Tyler Mabry (undisclosed) on the Reserve/Injured list.

Cleveland Browns second-round draft choice RB Quinshon Judkins has not agreed to a contract at this point, and two sides may wait until after the NFL's investigation of his off-field incident in Florida to reach a deal. He will not be criminally charged for the incident.
Footballguys view: Since Judkins hasn't signed his rookie deal, he has not been allowed to participate in training camp or preseason games with the Browns. He won't be able to play on the field with the team until a deal is reached. He did previously practice with the team during minicamp before the arrest occurred. Jerome Ford and fourth-round rookie Dylan Sampson are currently the top two backs on the roster. |
Free-agent WR Gabe Davis (Jaguars) is scheduled to meet with the Pittsburgh Steelers Tuesday, Aug. 19, according to a source.

Dallas Cowboys WR Jonathan Mingo (knee) is undergoing more testing on his knee injury, but head coach Brian Schottenheimer said he does not think the injury is very serious.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Roc Taylor was waived Monday, Aug. 18.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Joe Flacco will open the season as the team's starting quarterback.
Footballguys view: Flacco, entering his 18th NFL season, will also start in the team's preseason finale against the Rams. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he would treat the game as a dress rehearsal for the regular season. The Browns entered training with a four-man competition with Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. However, injuries and a clear delineation of practice reps led Flacco to take an overwhelming majority of first-team reps. For our purposes, Flacco has proven he can fuel the fantasy fires of front-line teammates. In this case, players like Jerry Jeudy and David Njoku, will benefit. |

Free-agent LB Matt Judon (Falcons) is set to meet with the Miami Dolphins Monday, Aug. 18, and both sides are interested in a deal.

Cleveland Browns WR Isaiah Bond signed a three-year, $3.018 million deal with the Browns Monday, Aug. 18.
Footballguys view: Bond lands on a team lacking a clear No. 2 option behind Pro Bowler Jerry Jeudy. After Jeudy, the only "proven" wide receivers on the roster is former Pro Bowler Diontae Johnson, who was signed to a no-risk, non-guaranteed prove-it deal in May after a disappointing 2024 season. Cedric Tillman, the starter opposite Jeudy, has struggled to remain on the field. That said, if Jeudy, Tillman, and David Njoku are the top three options on this team, the fourth spot could still be of interest -- at least early on with Joe Flacco announced as the starter on Monday. |
Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 18.
Footballguys view: This comes after Los Angeles did not confirm if Stafford had gone through his Saturday workout over the weekend, noting head coach Sean McVay would address the situation on Monday. While it's currently unclear how much Stafford will participate, multiple reporters on the scene note Stafford is taking snaps during individual drills. Stafford, 37 and entering his 17th pro season, has been dealing with a disc issue in his back. We'll follow up as needed. |

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love (thumb) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 18.
Footballguys view: Love had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb last week. The plan is to use 7-on-7 drills to get him throwing this week. The 7-on-7 work will allow Love to get time with his teammates without causing undue risk to his recovery from the surgery. The Packers will have a joint practice with the Seahawks on Thursday. They'll play their final preseason game on Saturday. Love is not expected to take part in either of those events, but the team expects him back to full speed well ahead of their Week 1 game against the Lions. |

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs (knee) is ahead of schedule from his knee injury, according to executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf.
Footballguys view: While Diggs has been a consistent participant in practice throughout training camp, the Patriots haven't allowed him to suit up for either of the team's first two exhibition contests. Still, the fact that he avoided the PUP list when camp opened removes most of the post-ACL recovery fears, making him a good bet for top-25 value. Diggs is being drafted as WR35 in Round 7. |

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (back) has not practiced in 11 days due to what multiple sources are reporting is a minor back problem. One source called it, 'normal camp tightness.'
Footballguys view: Nabers, who has also dealt with a lingering toe issue, said earlier this month that his limited on-field work was part of a plan the Giants had to make sure he is ready to go against the Commanders in Week 1. As Profootballtalk.com suggests, there's no reason to think his availability for that game is in doubt and no reason for the Giants to stop exercising caution with a vital member of their team. The uncertainty, however, can make fantasy investors paying a first-round premium to land Nabers a bit edgy. We'll continue to monitor. |
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams completed six of his 10 pass attempts for 107 yards and a touchdown in the preseason game against the Buffalo Bulls Sunday, Aug. 17.
Footballguys view: As NFL.com's Christian Gonzales suggested, we got a preview of how the Bears' offense could look with new head coach Ben Johnson and Williams. The second-year QB had an impressive first drive, connecting with TEs Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet on back-to-back plays. Williams found Loveland again for an 18-yard gain. Facing a third-and-5, Williams threw a dart at Olamide Zaccheaus, who used his speed to get past two Buffalo defenders for a 36-yard touchdown. Williams looked confident in Johnson's play-calling, and we all got a taste of what the pairing of Johnson and Williams might do for us. |
