Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams completed six of his 10 pass attempts for 107 yards and a touchdown in the preseason game against the Buffalo Bulls Sunday, Aug. 17.
| Footballguys view: As NFL.com's Christian Gonzales suggested, we got a preview of how the Bears' offense could look with new head coach Ben Johnson and Williams. The second-year QB had an impressive first drive, connecting with TEs Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet on back-to-back plays. Williams found Loveland again for an 18-yard gain. Facing a third-and-5, Williams threw a dart at Olamide Zaccheaus, who used his speed to get past two Buffalo defenders for a 36-yard touchdown. Williams looked confident in Johnson's play-calling, and we all got a taste of what the pairing of Johnson and Williams might do for us. |

New Orleans Saints RB Kendre Miller rushed six times for 21 yards during the preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, Aug. 17, and Bobby Kownack of NFL.com believes Miller is the frontrunner to serve as RB Alvin Kamara's backup.
| Footballguys view: Miller has looked flashy this preseason. As Kownack noted, the second-year back's offensive line did him no favors against Jacksonville. Nonetheless, Miller kept his legs pumping and fell forward on almost every occasion. He also looked reminiscent of vintage Kamara on a 13-yard pickup that required him to dance through and around traffic. Health -- not talent -- has always been Miller's primary obstacle. The Saints desperately need an RB2 to spell Kamara after failing to establish one last year. If he stays on the field, Miller could be just that. |

| Footballguys view: Austin Ekeler and rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt are behind Robinson on the depth chart. Robinson, a third-round pick in 2022, started 13 of the 14 games he played last season. He had 187 carries for a career-best 799 yards and a career-best eight touchdowns. In three seasons, Robinson has 635 touches for 2,916 yards and 20 touchdowns. But the reporting on Croskey-Merritt has been positive since camp opened, and long-time Commanders observer Ben Standig suggested last week there might not be room on the roster for both Robinson and the seventh-round rookie. We'll continue to monitor. |

The Eagles have a glut of tight ends and always are looking for an upgrade to their bench wide receiver spots, and Metchie might be that. |

| Footballguys view: Surely the Browns aren't the only team that would be interested in trading for the 2024 sack leader. The Bengals have probably softened their trade terms now that it appears nothing is going to happen with Hendrickson, so we should be open to Hendrickson getting moved soon. Hendrickson might even be open to playing under the last year of his deal if he goes to a contender and gets a raise. |

Joe Flacco is likely going to start Week 1 with Kenny Pickett also nursing an injury after he had a good start to camp, but where it goes from there is anyone's guess. Flacco took the Browns to the playoffs in 2023 and created fantasy champions along the way, but he wasn't the same quarterback last year with the Colts and might not last long as the starter, so Sanders should be waiting in the wings for his opportunity. |
