Jacory Croskey-Merritt is everyone's preseason darling. Well, except for on the Washington Commanders' official Week 1 RB depth chart. The Commanders put their unofficial list on Tuesday afternoon, and JCM was listed fourth. Ahead of him: Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez.
| Footballguys view: That's not what was expected at all. Ekeler and Croskey-Merritt sat out the final preseason game while the other two played, suggesting they were set to lead a committee for the Commanders. Of course, these depth charts aren't always definitive. They're sometimes just a nod to veteran status, or a way to retain some competitive advantage. Remember, the Commanders traded away RB1 Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers. Is that something they'd do to clear the way for Ekeler to be their featured back? We'll be watching for more on this as the week plays out. |
