Broncos | Alex Singleton expected to start Mon May 19, 07:18 PM
Denver Broncos LB Alex Singleton (knee) likely will be one of the starting inside linebackers this upcoming season if he is healthy, in the opinion of BroncosWire's Jon Heath.

Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft choice OG Wyatt Milum recently signed a four-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars worth $6.277 million.
Link to storyJacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has been impressive with his ability to pick up the new offensive scheme, according to head coach Liam Coen.
Footballguys view: "He's done a phenomenal job," said Coen about Lawrence learning the new scheme. Coen noted the work Lawrence has put in on his own time, and handling the workload and play calls. "I've been very impressed." Meanwhile, Lawrence feels stronger as he works his way back from shoulder surgery. He suffered the injury in Week 9 last season and missed Weeks 10 and 11. However, once he was placed on IR due to a concussion, he and the team thought it was best to get the shoulder surgery at that time rather than putting it off until the end of the season. When the Jaguars reconvened for Phase I of offseason programs in April, Coen said that Lawrence would be on a "pitch count." However, roughly five weeks later, Lawrence went through the team drills during Monday's practice. Regarding the new offensive system, Lawrence likes what he sees. "It's great," the QB said. "It puts a lot on the players; you have to know your stuff, but it gives you all the answers. Without going into too much detail, there are a lot of things I like about it." We'll be following along as Lawrence and the Jaguars work their way up to speed with Coen at the helm. |

Cleveland Browns QBs Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are all possible candidates for the starting quarterback job this upcoming season, and the Browns want to have a fair and efficient competition for the job, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Footballguys view: As previously noted, Cabot has characterized Pickett as her favorite to win the job. But it won't be handed to him. The plan will involve effectively splitting the offense into two during organized team activities, mandatory minicamp, and possibly training camp, with two quarterbacks with each unit. The Browns will likely try to pair up one veteran and one rookie, so in a typical practice, Pickett and Gabriel might be alternating throwing to one group of receivers while Flacco and Sanders alternate throwing to another group of receivers. The Browns currently have 12 wide receivers and five tight ends on the 90-player roster and want to ensure pass catchers are available to let all four quarterbacks get plenty of reps in offseason work. Stay tuned. |

Green Bay Packers first-round draft choice WR Matthew Golden signed a four-year contract with the Packers Monday, May 19. The deal includes a fifth-year option, but financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Golden was the No. 23 overall selection by Green Bay in last month's draft. It marked the first time the Packers had selected a receiver in the first round since 2002 (Javon Walker). Golden had 58 catches for 987 yards and nine touchdowns during his only year with Texas this past season. He went on to post the fastest 40-yard-dash time at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February. He'll look to contend for Green Bay's WR1 role as a rookie. With Christian Watson coming off a torn ACL suffered the first week of January, Golden will have every opportunity to earn that alpha role. |
San Francisco 49ers DE Alex Barrett was released Monday, May 19.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Kristian Wilkerson (Raiders) agreed to terms with the Buffalo Bills Monday, May 19, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with the 49ers Monday, May 19, worth $63 million. The deal includes $56.7 million in guaranteed money.
Footballguys view: After completing lucrative contract extensions with quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle in recent weeks, the 49ers had one more key player to take care of to wrap up their most pressing offseason business. While Purdy's deal represented the largest deal in team history (five years for $265 million, including $181 million in overall guaranteed money) and the biggest raise the Niners have ever handed out, Warner's extension always figured to be a bit easier because he had two years remaining on the five-year, $95 million deal he signed in 2021. With Warner, 28, Purdy, and Kittle signed before the on-field portion of organized team activities begin, the 49ers can rest easy from a business standpoint as they head toward training camp. |

Cleveland Browns fifth-round draft choice Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) signed a four-year contract with a reported $4.6 million on Monday, May 19.
Footballguys view: The Browns are reportedly planning to have a unique quarterback competition, with Sanders, third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, Kenny Pickett, and Joe Flacco all having a chance to earn the club's starting role. One local observer, Cleveland Plain Dealer staffer Mary Kay Cabot, expects Pickett to win the job. Others see Flacco as the likely starter. Either way, the veterans seem to hold the early lead. |
Kansas City Chiefs seventh-round draft choice Brashard Smith (Southern Methodist) is 'an Alvin Kamara clone with 4.3 speed,' according to ESPN's Louis Riddick.
Footballguys view: In case you missed it, Kamara was named the NFL Rookie of the Year, a Pro Bowler in his first five NFL seasons, and a two-time second-team All-Pro. He became the Saints' All-Time leading rusher. Meanwhile, as suggested in the Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide Version 3.0, a seventh-round pick will not merit much attention in usual circumstances. But the Chiefs already hit gold on Isiah Pacheco in a similar situation. Beyond that, Smith landed in the perfect situation to make an impact, considering he will play with Patrick Mahomes and be coached by Andy Reid, one of the greatest offensive innovators ever. We shouldn't get carried away in redraft leagues, but Smith is a reasonably-priced investment in Dynasty leagues and a free-square play in best-ball formats. |
Detroit Lions QB Hendon Hooker 'has a lot of room to grow' but is 'throwing the ball better, his footwork is better, and he understands our concepts (better),' according to quarterbacks coach Mark Brunell.
Footballguys view: Hooker, 27, is entering the third year of his NFL career. He was sidelined for most of his first, as he rehabbed a torn ACL suffered in college. The Tennessee product was granted his first taste of NFL action last year, playing in all three preseason games and making three regular-season appearances in mop-up duty. Given that he missed his entire rookie offseason and got his first opportunity to go through training camp last year, he still stands to benefit greatly from the chances to compete that the offseason provides. But Hooker remains a developmental project as an NFL player. His fantasy relevance is limited to deep dynasty leagues at this point. |

Los Angeles Chargers first-round draft choice Omarion Hampton (North Carolina) reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract with $17.77 million - including a $9.56 million signing bonus - on Monday, May 19.
Footballguys view: As Bleacher Report noted, the Chargers were high on Hampton heading into the draft, as head coach Jim Harbaugh said the team rejected multiple trade offers to keep their No. 22 selection. With Hampton on board, the Chargers have a talented duo in the backfield after signing free agent running back Najee Harris in March. Harris, gearing up for his fifth season, has rushed for more than 1,000 yards every year of his career thus far. Hampton and Harris should help a Los Angeles rushing attack that averaged just 110.7 rushing yards per game in 2024. Hampton is RB21 on the Footballguys Draft Projections for our purposes, while Harris is RB35. |
The Eagles have agreed to a multiyear extension with head coach Nick Sirianni, the team announced Monday. Terms of the extension were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Sirianni, 43, is 48-20 with the Eagles, and his winning percentage (.706) is the third-highest in the Super Bowl era. He is 6-3 in the postseason and has guided the team to two Super Bowl appearances, including a decisive win this past February against the Kansas City Chiefs. Before the extension, Sirianni had been set to enter the final year of the five-year contract he signed when he was hired by the Eagles in 2021. The Eagles suffered a 1-6 collapse down the stretch in 2023 and got off to a 2-2 start this past season, seemingly putting Sirianni on shaky ground. But the team responded by going 16-1 down the stretch, including the postseason, to deliver Philadelphia its second Lombardi Trophy. |
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore told reporters on Monday, May 19, that we will 'give these guys (quarterbacks Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, Tyler Shough and Hunter Dekkers) a bunch of opportunities' before adding help via trade or free agency.'Certainly, there (are) times where if the opportunity presents itself, you feel like it's a really good fit, you'd love to do it. We feel like we have some good guys here that can certainly mentor each other at the same time going through this process. . . . We'll see how this whole thing progresses. The roster is a moving dynamic thing throughout the offseason process,' Moore said.
Footballguys view: It's worth noting that for more of his own time as a coach in the NFL, Moore has worked with younger quarterbacks (one small exception being Andy Dalton's nine-game stint as the starter in 2020 after Dal Prescott suffered a season-ending injury). Whether it's a rookie like Shough or a second- or third-year pro like Rattler or Haener starting this season, it's nothing new for him. And as Moore himself pointed out, having former pro quarterbacks on his coaching staff like Doug Nussmeier and Scott Tolzien goes a long way towards bridging the gap. While the draft capital invested in Shough (the 40th pick overall last month) suggests he's the early favorite, fantasy investors shouldn't get too far in front of this one. Shough is currently QB32 on the Footballguys Projections. |

Free-agent DT Montravius Adams (Steelers) is visiting the Cincinnati Bengals Monday, May 19.

Former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles in a senior scouting role Monday, May 19.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy received a no-trade clause for the duration of his five-year deal.
Footballguys view: The reported five-year, $265 million contract means Purdy gets financial security and control over his future. More immediately, Purdy, who finished as QB13 last year, sits at QB14 on the 2025 Footballguys Projections. While his numbers took a hit during the 2024 season, it's important to note the absence of a handful of key offensive weapons as San Francisco had brutal injury luck with a few of its star players as the 49ers stumbled toward a 6-11 record. Despite the down season, Purdy, who finished as QB6 in 2023, will play a significant role in getting what the team hopes will be a healthier offense back on track. If that's the case, fantasy investors could easily end up with QB1 production at a QB2 price. |
Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson (knee) probably will start the 2025 regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of PackersWire's Mark Oldacres.
Footballguys view: Watson suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the 2024 regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears. The timing of the injury means that Watson isn't a lock to play in 2025. The Packers added Matthew Golden in the first round of April's NFL Draft and Savion Williams in the third round, bolstering their depth at the position. Given the first-round capital invested in Golden, Watson's future in Green Bay beyond 2025 -- the final year of his rookie deal -- might also become uncertain. |
New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (personal) has been absent from recent voluntary offseason workouts while he deals with personal matters.
Footballguys view: Stevenson's father, Robert, passed away in March at age 54. Stevenson also lost his childhood friend, Brandan Harley, last season. Understanding that Stevenson has experienced sudden and heartbreaking losses in a short period of time, teammates privately say they hope to provide him with as much support as possible once he starts spending more time at the facility. Meanwhile, his recent absences during the voluntary offseason program might explain why the team signed veteran Trayveon Williams to a one-year deal on Wednesday, adding another layer of depth to better evenly distribute some of the work. |

Cleveland Browns OT Dawand Jones (leg) has been participating in offseason workouts.
Link to storyCleveland Browns DT Michael Hall Jr. (knee) is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery but is not expected to participate in offseason workouts. The team hopes he will be ready to practice when training camp begins.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan has been impressive during offseason workouts and has shown a very good work ethic, according to wide receivers coach Rob Moore. 'He works on his ability to finish, and try and be detailed. It's one of the hardest things for young players to really dial in on the details of every play. He was really dialed in,' Moore said.
Footballguys view: McMillan was arguably the best wide receiver in this draft class, and there's shades of Mike Evans to his game. His size/speed combination is going to help move the chains, and McMillan's consistency should make him a favorite target for QB Bryce Young early and often in 2025. |
Free-agent QB Aaron Rodgers (Jets) has not been considered as a possible option for the New Orleans Saint after QB Derek Carr's retirement.
Footballguys view: When Carr retired, the news machine quickly went to the unsigned Rodgers as an option. That always seemed like media hype more than reality. The Saints seem comfortable with a quarterback group including Spencer Rattler, rookie Tyler Shough, and Jake Haener as starting options. The starting job will be hammered out in training camp and the preseason. |

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford said he has been working out with WR Davante Adams this offseason and that Adams fits right in with the team.
Footballguys view: Adams is a special player, and he can still be a big threat in his age-32 season. Stafford and Adams should be a fantasy force, so Adams still should post WR2 numbers for Fantasy GMs out there. |
Davante Adams player page
Detroit Lions CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr. is expected to focus on playing outside cornerback this offseason, according to defensive backs coach Deshea Townsend.
Footballguys view: Rakestraw was a second-round pick of the Lions in the 2024 NFL Draft, and coming out of Missouri he was known as a player who was always around the ball. His rookie season was cut short by a hamstring injury, and he only played 46 snaps on defense in eight games. We'll see if he can stay healthy and impress during the offseason and into the preseason. He's likely to be the backup to DJ Reed at the RCB position. |
Detroit Lions DB Avonte Maddox is expected to be used as a backup at slot cornerback and safety, according to safeties coach Jim O'Neil.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Maddox was drafted by the Eagles (fourth round, 2018), and he's been a solid reserve player for them for years. During his time in the NFL, Maddox has started 41-of-81 games and outside of an injury-shortened 2023 he's been a consistent performer. |
Tennnessee Titans S Kevin Winston Jr. (knee) is expected to receive medical clearance in order to participate in training camp, according to head coach Brian Callahan.
Footballguys view: The Titans selected Winston in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He's a naturally instinctive player who arrives at the ball-carrier with bad intentions. His tackling ability and diagnostic ability are NFL caliber, but he'll need to improve his coverage concepts to be a reliable pro. Winston is recovering from knee surgery to repair a partially-torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered last year with Penn State. |
The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to make any further moves at running back this offseason, after signing RBs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency and drafting RBs Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah.
Footballguys view: Many thought the Cowboys would do more, but all offseason they've insisted they're happy with this group. Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer expressed support for Williams at the owner's meetings (and coaches breakfast) earlier this year. Williams is the season veteran who is sound as a runner, receiver, and in pass protection. However, he's not been the same since injuring his knee with the Broncos a few years ago. Let's see if Williams can win this job in camp, but expect the team to use multiple backs in an RBBC that Fantasy GMs may avoid. |

Jacksonville Jaguars LBs Devin Lloyd and Jalen McLeod are expected to compete for the buck linebacker position, according to general manager James Gladstone.
Footballguys view: Lloyd was a first-round pick of the Jaguars in the 2022 NFL Draft, while McLeod was a sixth-round pick for the team in the 2025 NFL Draft. McLeod is an interesting prospect coming out of Auburn, and he plays all over the field with a high level of versatility and violence. The Jaguars did not pick up the fifth-year option for Lloyd, arguably their best linebacker over the past two seasons, so he's set to be a free agent in 2026. This battle will take place in training camp with Lloyd the favorite to land the job. |
Pittsburgh Steelers CBs Beanie Bishop Jr. and Sebastian Castro are expected to battle for the starting slot cornerback role, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
Footballguys view: The Steelers signed Castro as a priority free agent after the draft. He brings versatility to the field as he's a hybrid slot CB/safety. Bishop won the starting job at the beginning of the 2024 season but eventually lost playing time to CB Cameron Sutton, who is now a free agent. We'll see this battle shake out in training camp. |
Buffalo Bills WR Elijah Moore said he is excited to play with QB Josh Allen because he has not played with a stable quarterback for most of his career.
Footballguys view: A second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft for the Jets, Moore was traded to the Browns in 2023. During his four pro seasons with those two teams, Moore has played with 10 different starting quarterbacks - so it's a huge chance for him to impress with one of the league's best now that he's with the Bills. Moore has stated he would be interested in returning kicks this year too as he tries to win a spot on the 53-man roster in Buffalo. He's competing for the no.3 spot on the depth chart behind Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. |
Elijah Moore player page
Matt Connolly, from PennLive.com, reports Cleveland Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said rookie QB Shedeur Sanders is "willing to put in the work" this offseason.
Footballguys view: Sanders' work ethic has never been in question...or at least it should not have been part of the conversation before the draft. He's an incredibly accurate passer with pro level pass placement right now. Sanders holds onto the ball a bit too long, and he needs to get it out of his hands faster to avoid the rush. We'll see how Sanders stacks up in training camp battling with guys like Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. |

Miami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II is 'probably still a long shot for real production' as a rookie, according to Mike Clay of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Gordon is a talented rookie the Dolphins were able to add out of Oklahoma State in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He's got power to his game, and he's an efficient runner who wastes little motion between the tackles. Gordon is competing for the no.3 spot on the depth chart (behind De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright) with Alexander Mattison. We like stashing Gordon in deep dynasty, but his path to redraft value in 2025 seems cluttered. |
Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens could 'max out' as an early-down backup to RB Jonathan Taylor, according to Mike Clay of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: Giddens has talent, and the Kansas State rusher is a slashing back who can knife through lanes while eating up yards quickly. He was a productive player for the Wildcats, and his consistency was a hallmark to his game. Giddens looks like the no.3 back for the Colts this year behind Taylor and Khalil Herbert. There's a chance Giddens pushes Herbert for the primary backup job. |
Kansas City Chiefs director of player personnel Ryne Nutt said that the organization views rookie WR Jalen Royals fulfilling a similar role in 2025 to the one filled by WR Rashee Rice (knee) last season. Nutt said that his run-after-catch ability is one of his strong suits but added that his route running is an area where he needs to continue developing.
Footballguys view: Royals was a fourth-round pick of the Chiefs coming out of Utah State in this year's draft. He's capable of taking short passes and turning them into long gains. Royals should be able to help move the chains, especially with QB Patrick Mahomes finding him on time and on target. The rookie has talent, but he's buried on the depth chart and likely competing for the no.4 spot with JuJu Smith-Schuster. |
Rashee Rice player page
New York Giants offensive assistant Angela Baker has left the organization to pursue other opportunities, according to ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane said he believes he was not as productive as he could have been in 2024 and hopes to rush for at least 1,000 yards this upcoming season.
Footballguys view: Achane rushed for 907 yards last year, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Those totals were significantly boosted by a pair of monster runs at the end of the season when he gained 50 yards on a second-half run in a win over the San Francisco 49ers and 61 yards on one run in Miami's season-closing loss to the New York Jets. Before those big gains, Achane averaged less than 3.3 yards per carry in eight regular-season games. Miami's offensive line struggled so much in 2024 that the coaching staff equated short passes to Achane as substitutions for running plays, and that's why he caught a career-high 78 passes and turned them into 592 yards and six receiving touchdowns, which brought his 2024 total to 12. This year, Miami upgraded their guard spots by signing James Daniels as a free agent and drafting Jonah Savaiinaea in the second round. For fantasy investors, there will be no discounts. Achane, who finished as RB6 last year, is going as RB7 with the 18th pick overall in early best balls. |
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension with the 49ers Friday, May 16, worth $265 million. The deal includes $181 million in guaranteed money, and Purdy will receive $165.05 million in the first three years of the extension.
Footballguys view: For Purdy, "Mr. Irrelevant" as the last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the new contract will go down as one of the biggest raises in NFL history. Under the terms of his rookie deal, he was set to count just $5.365 million against the cap in 2025. The new deal should come as no surprise. Since he took over as the starter for an injured Garoppolo in Week 13 of 2022, including playoffs, the Niners are 27-15 in games Purday started. In that time, he ranks third in the NFL in passing yards (9,452), first in yards per attempt (8.9) and seventh in touchdown passes (64). In 2024, playing missing key members of his supporting cast, including Christian McCaffrey (Achilles, knee), Brandon Aiyuk (knee), Trent Williams (ankle), tight end George Kittle (hamstring), and receiver Deebo Samuel (calf, illness, ribs) for varying amounts of time, Purdy finished as fantasy's QB13. He sits at QB14 on the 2025 Footballguys Projections. Investors could do worse for their QB2 this year. |

Detroit Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson (leg) looked 'really good' in his return to the practice field this week, according to defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers. Hutchinson was lost for the season in mid-October after suffering a broken tibia and fibula.
Footballguys view: Hutchinson's fifth-year option was picked up earlier this year, and reporters around the team believe an extension is happening sooner rather than later. He's a star on the field when healthy, but Hutchinson's season was cut short last year in Week 6 with a fractured fibula. It sounds like he's doing good in his recovery, and we'll learn more about his status for the start of the regular season in training camp. |
Undrafted free-agent C Michael Gonzalez (Louisville) signed an undisclosed contract with the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, May 16.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks has 'matured so much' over the last few months, according to passing game coordinator Jason Vrable.'I think early in (2024), he wanted the results so bad. He wanted to catch the ball and score. He was getting open, and then he would have a bad drop and everybody would be so upset over him and he'd be down on himself. I think he really learned to just handle one play at a time. It just happens to some guys. ... I think he's matured so much. And you saw at the end of the year when the ball was coming his way there was a real confidence toward the end to get open and make the play. And just do one play at a time. If you watched our practices, the speed that he's playing at, (offensive coordinator Luke) Getsy just came back here and was like, 'Man, this guy is so fast. And he's practicing so hard.' And you can see it. He's in Year 3, and he knows the system, he's playing with confidence and the energy's been awesome right now,' Vrable told the team's website earlier this week.
Footballguys view: We'll see what Wicks can do this season. The physical talent is there, but the Packers added another receiver in first-round pick Matthew Golden. When Christian Watson is healthy, the targets for Wicks will be even more limited. If you believe in the 2023 fifth-round pick, Wicks is cheap to pick up in dynasty formats. |

New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave appears unlikely to be traded this offseason, but the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly have made their interest known to the Saints in recent days, according to a source. Per Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com, the Saints do not seem interested in trading Olave.
Footballguys view: The Steelers are just checking in here. With their trade of George Pickens to the Cowboys earlier this month, they have DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, and Calvin Austin as their top three wide receivers. The Saints have picked up the fifth-year option of Olave, and there might be a contract extension with him in the future. |
New York Jets PK Greg Zuerlein was released on Friday, May 16. Undrafted free-agent Michael Fletcher (Appalachian State) was signed to replace him on the roster.
