The 49ers had Brock Purdy on the inactive list again on Sunday, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said it was a closer decision than it has been in previous weeks. "He could have gone, definitely," Shanahan said. "I just decided to hold him, not put him in that situation . . . I do believe he's closer and further along than he was at that time, so hopefully, he'll have a chance this week."
| Footballguys view: Purdy has been out since Week 4 with a toe injury, and the team is clearly being cautious with his return. Purdy was initially injured in Week 1, and he aggravated the issue in his Week 4 return. Mac Jones had three touchdown passes in Sunday's loss to the Rams and has generally played well while Purdy's been out of action. Still, Shanahan said that Purdy's health is the only factor in the team's thoughts about their starting quarterback. If Purdy gets the green light on that front, he'll make his return in Arizona next Sunday. |

Los Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey ended up with four receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown on six targets in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
| Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Kris Rhim suggested, McConkey's role in this offense had diminished as receivers Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston were more productive through the opening weeks of the season. But that has changed in recent weeks. McConkey appears back to being the Chargers' top receiving threat and finished Sunday night with four catches for 107 yards and a touchdown. He leads the Chargers in receiving yards and is second in receptions. The Chargers play the Jaguars in Week 11. |

Los Angeles Chargers TE Oronde Gadsden II (knee) left the Week 10 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a knee injury in the second half. He went to the locker room in the fourth quarter, and he did not return.
| Footballguys view: Before his exit, Gadsden had caught three of his six targets for 13 yards on a night Ladd McConkey handled the bulk of the receiving work with four catches for 107 yards and a score. Even so, Gadsden's loss is significant. He had been a revelation as the top target at tight end for Justin Herbert, really only getting run over the last few games and catching 32 passes with two scores while averaging 14.2 yards per catch. The Chargers play the Jaguars in Week 11. We'll be watching for more. |

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen had two receptions for just 19 yards on five targets in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he was able to move past former TE Antonio Gates for the all-time franchise record in receptions (956).
| Footballguys view: It appeared as if Allen wouldn't get the record after having only one catch late in the fourth quarter. But on the Chargers' final drive, the team ran a shovel pass to Allen to get him over the hump. After the game, Allen told NBC that he drew up the toss play. Allen played his first 11 seasons with the Chargers, emerging as one of the great receivers in team history. After spending a season in Chicago, Allen re-signed with the Chargers in August and has continued solidifying his place as one of the best players in team history. |
