Patriots | Surgery for Lan Larison Mon Aug 11, 03:16 PM
New England Patriots RB Lan Larison (foot) is scheduled to undergo surgery on the foot injury he suffered during the preseason game Friday, Aug. 8, according to sources.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Jase McClellan (Falcons) agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday, Aug. 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Aaron Shampklin (Steelers) agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins Monday, Aug. 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Alexander Mattison (neck) underwent neck surgery Sunday, Aug. 10, and will miss the 2025 season, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Mattison was impressing head coach Mike McDaniel with his short yardage running and more. The team guaranteed about one million dollars of his 2025 salary, so clearly they expected him to have a role in the backfield. Jaylen Wright was thwarted on multiple goal line attempts in the preseason opener, although the line did him no favors. The Dolphins have signed RBs Mike Boone and Aaron Shampklin, who join a depth chart that also includes rookie Ollie Gordon. |

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles OG Landon Dickerson (knee) is believed to have a meniscus injury and is receiving additional opinions to determine how long he will be sidelined, according to sources.
Footballguys view: The Eagles acquired former Texans first rounder Kenyon Green for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in the offseason. They turned around the career of Mekhi Becton - a former Jets first round pick - last year, and it sounds like they'll be hoping Green is ready to repeat Becton's story this year while Dickerson is mending. This is a big loss, but the Eagles are one of the best equipped teams to deal with it. |
Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue (ankle, heel) should be able to be at least a limited participant in practice at some point this week, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Footballguys view: The bruised heel won't keep Blue out of action for long. This backfield continues to trend towards a committee with at least three players, and could even include a player not currently on the roster. Blue has the best speed and initial burst of the group, so he's probably the best late round target of the group. |
Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 11, because did not feel good enough to take part in drills, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Link to storyUpdating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Rachaad White (groin) is considered day-to-day because of his groin injury, according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: We were bracing for worse news when White had additional testing, but it sounds like this won't be something that affects White in Week 1. It does still open the door for Sean Tucker to make this more of a committee behind Bucky Irving. The Bucs really like Tucker, although White is still the best passing down back they have. |
Green Bay Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd (groin) is participating in practice Monday, Aug. 11.
Link to storyDetroit Lions OT Taylor Decker (shoulder) is expected to receive more work during practice Monday, Aug. 11.
Link to storyCleveland Browns WR Luke Floriea (hamstring) was waived/injured Monday, Aug. 11.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Kenny Pickett (hamstring) is making progress in his recovery but is still not ready for team drills at this time, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Link to storyLos Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) is not participating in practice Monday, Aug. 11. Head coach Sean McVay previously stated the plan was for Stafford to participate in individual drills Monday.
Footballguys view: This is becoming a discouraging pattern. The Rams could simply not set goals to get back Stafford back on the practice field and then him missing practice wouldn't seem so ominous. Still, they have one of the best backup quarterbacks in Jimmy Garoppolo and offensive-minded head coaches in Sean McVay, so there's no reason to panic about Rams players or push them significantly down your board. |

Free-agent RB Jamaal Williams (Saints) Is working out for the Miami Dolphins Monday, Aug. 11.
Footballguys view: Williams could take the place of Alexander Mattison, who is out for the season after suffering a back/neck injury. He could be a short-yardage back that caps the upside of Jaylen Wright as a backup to De'Von Achane. |
