Chicago Bears practice squad RB Brittain Brown was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 1, and will be available for the Week 9 game.
Link to storyKansas City Chiefs practice squad RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 1, and will be available for the Week 9 game.
Footballguys view: Chiefs starting RB Isiah Pacheco (knee) has been ruled out in Week 9 against the Bills. Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith should split backfield duties in this contest. Hunt is more of a flex play, and Smith is more of a 'what the heck' flex option in Week 9. Edwards-Helaire and Elijah Mitchell are the other two available options at running back for the Chiefs.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (foot) will not start in Week 9 but could have a role in the game if active, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: Jacoby Brissett is going to start for the Cardinals in Week 9. The passing offense should be more efficient with him instead of Murray under center. Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon has insisted Murray would be the starter when fully healthy, and apparently he needed more time to recover from this foot injury. If he's not healthy enough to start, we'd be surprised if they put him in as a subpackage player (if active).

Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett will be the starting quarterback for the Week 9 game, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: No real surprise here. The Cardinals cancelled Kyler Murray's media availability earlier in the week, and Brissett has taken the first-team reps. Brissett is a more efficient passer, and the passing game should be more effective. This is a boost for guys like TE Trey McBride and WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Brissett is an option for Fantasy GMs in start-2 QB/superflex leagues.

Buffalo Bills WR Gabe Davis (knee) had inflammation in his knee following practice Thursday, Oct. 30, according to head coach Sean McDermott. 'We'll see where he goes from there,' McDermott said.

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter's (knee) initial test results revealed that his ACL is intact, and he will undergo additional testing next week to determine the extent of the injury, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Hunter is on IR, so he's out a minimum of four weeks. With his ACL intact, there's a chance he could return shortly after his mandatory absence. However, he's no guarantee to return this season. We'll have to get past the next month and then see what the talented rookie can (or can't) do in practice.
Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams faces the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9, and Williams managed a combined seven catches for 30 yards in two meetings with Minnesota last season.
Footballguys view: Williams has boom-bust upside every week. That's why we're comfortable with recommending him as a WR3/flex play in Week 9.
Washington Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt faces the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9, and Seattle's defense ranks first in the NFL in rushing yards allowed (75.7), yards per carry (3.3) and rushing touchdowns allowed (2).
Footballguys view: The Commanders get QB Jayden Daniels back this week, and that should help the entire offense. Croskey-Merrit is more of a flex play because of this matchup.
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) is planning to start Week 9's game against the Chicago Bears, barring an unforeseen development with the AC joint in his right shoulder, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: Flacco is going to warm up before the game to test out his shoulder. He's planning on playing, but make sure to check when inactives are announced just in case. Jake Browning would start if Flacco can't go.

Multiple clubs have expressed interest in Tennessee Titans RB Tony Pollard and DT T'Vondre Sweat in advance of the NFL trade deadline Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs are a team that seems to be connected to any running back available for trade. If they don't get Breece Hall (Jets) then perhaps Pollard would be an option. The Titans need draft capital to build for the future, and perhaps Pollard could get them a Day 3 pick.

Multiple teams have expressed interest in Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. in advance of the NFL trade deadline Nov. 4, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini. However, none of the offers have been substantial and it is believed that it would take a package involving a first-round draft pick to land him.
Footballguys view: Thomas is dealing with a shoulder injury, and he's not clicking in the Liam Coen offense. After a 1,200-yard rookie season, Thomas is on pace for less than 1,000 yards this year. Coen has insisted the team has no plans on trading Thomas, and it sounds like the price tag would be too rich for other teams. Anything can happen, so perhaps some team would be willing to give up a haul for Thomas.
The Buffalo Bills have reportedly expressed interest in New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave in advance of the NFL trade deadline Tuesday, Nov. 4. However, the Saints appear unlikely to move him, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Footballguys view: The Saints control Olave through the 2026 season due to his fifth-year option. It might take more than expected to get him out of New Orleans. The Saints may trade Rashid Shaheed however, and the Bills are looking for wide receiver help. They've been connected to guys like Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers too.
The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly expressed interest in trading for Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers, although their asking price is believed to be high, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Footballguys view: There are multiple rumors that the Bills and Steelers are interested in wide receiver help before the trade deadline. Meyers has missed a bit of time with a knee injury this year, but he's set to play in Week 9 against the Jaguars. The Raiders could use this contest to showcase Meyers to interested teams. It seems like the worst-kept secret in the league that the Raiders are shopping Meyers.

Multiple teams continue to have interest in trading for New York Jets RB Breece Hall prior to the NFL trade deadline Tuesday, Nov. 4. The Jets are believed to want at least a third-round pick in return for Hall, who is in the final season of his rookie contract.
Footballguys view: Hall is likely to be the best running back available before the trade deadline on Thursday. There are plenty of rumblings about teams like the Chiefs being interested in the young star. The Jets have a lot of changes coming up, and Hall may not fit their plans for the future. It's no guarantee, but it just seems likely Hall will be moved in the next few days. Hall would get a huge fantasy boost if he's on a team like the Chiefs. Stay tuned.
The New York Giants do not have any plans to move LB Kayvon Thibodeaux before the NFL trade deadline Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini. They had previously told interested teams that they would want a first-round draft pick in return.

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (ankle) is trending towards playing in Week 9's game versus the Los Angeles Rams, according to head coach Kellen Moore.
Footballguys view: Kamara should be out there, but he's clearly not 100 percent and it's rookie QB Tyler Shough's first start of his career. The Rams should be in control of this game, and things could be ugly for the Saints offense. That makes Kamara more of a flex play than an RB2 in Week 9.

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II (ankle) is considered day to day after sustaining a sprained ankle in Week 9's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Footballguys view: Gordon only had a couple of carries against the Ravens on Thursday night before leaving with this injury. Day-to-day, and with 10 days between games, the rookie back should be available in Week 10.
Confirming a previous report, Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua (ankle) will play in Week 9's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Nacua said he feels 'fantastic' earlier this week, so he's back after a one-game absence (and a bye week). Against a hapless Saints team, the Rams should roll and Nacua could end up as the top fantasy receiver of the week. Anytime he plays, Nacua is a must-start as a WR1.

Indianapolis Colts OG Matt Goncalves (personal) will play in Week 9's game, despite missing two of the team's three practice sessions this week, according to head coach Shane Steichen. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals QB Joe Flacco (shoulder) will participate in pregame warmups Sunday, Nov. 2, to determine if he will play in Week 9's game versus the Chicago Bears.
Footballguys view: It seems Flacco is a game-time decision even though he's not being classified as such. He will see how the shoulder feels in pregame warmups, and Flacco will start provided there are no setbacks. Jake Browning would start if Flacco and the team decide he's unable to play.

Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. will start in Week 9 versus the New England Patriots, after having missed Week 8's game against the Miami Dolphins due to a knee injury.
Footballguys view: Penix missed last week, and Kirk Cousins was below average as the starter for the Falcons. We should see Penix perform in the QB2 range in Week 9 against the Patriots. He'll be limited athletically with this knee injury, but the Falcons offense gets a boost as no1 WR Drake London (hip) is set to play.
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers QB Mac Jones will start Week 9's game versus the New York Giants.
Footballguys view: According to 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy could be available in Week 9 if need be. That means Purdy might be back next week. For the meantime, Jones gets another start as the 49ers look to bounce back after losing to the Texans in Week 8. Jones is a QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs out there.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) will not start Week 9's game versus the New York Giants but still has a chance to be available, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Purdy could be available if the team needs him in Week 9. That means he's close to a return, but we'd be a bit ahead of ourselves to say Purdy will be ready to start in Week 10. Mac Jones is starting against the Giants.
Free-agent P Brock Miller worked out for the San Francisco 49ers Friday, Oct. 31.
