Commanders | Noah Brown may return soon Thu Aug 21, 04:02 PM
Washington Commanders WR Noah Brown (knee) is making progress in his recovery and is close to returning to practice, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Footballguys view: Brown is big, fast, physical...and oft-injured in his pro career. Only Fantasy GMs in deep dynasty should be monitoring this situation. |

Los Angeles Chargers WR Tre Harris (undisclosed) is not expected to practice Thursday, Aug. 21, after leaving the last practice because of tightness, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (ankle) suffered an apparent ankle injury during practice on Thursday, Aug. 21, according to Fox19 sports reporter Jeremy Rauch. Higgins went to the sidelines for treatment, causing some concern, but he returned to practice a few plays later, according to Rauch.
Footballguys view: Good news for the Bengals here. The defense should struggle again in 2025, so that means Joe Burrow and offense need to do everything for a team that has designs of making a postseason run. Higgins is going to be a big part of what the team does through the air with teammate WR Ja'Marr Chase. While Chase is WR1 in current ADP, Higgins is aptly placed at WR12. |

Miami Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright (undisclosed) suffered an apparent injury during joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, Aug. 21.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins may be looking for running back help. There are rumblings they could be front-runners for Brian Robinson (Commanders). Stay tuned. |
Free-agent LB Jadeveon Clowney (Panthers) has been talking with teams and plans to sign with a team before the start of the regular season, according to a source.

Los Angeles Chargers RB Najee Harris (eye) has no timetable set for his return. When asked about a return date on Thursday, Aug. 21, head coach Jim Harbaugh said, 'When Najee's ready to play, he'll be ready to play.'
Footballguys view: Harris will be ready when he's ready...which means what? We'll just have to wait and see what his availability is during the week of practice before Week 1. Harris will split time with rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton. |

Cincinnati Bengals WR Andrei Iosivas (undisclosed) worked on a side field during practice Thursday, Aug. 21.

San Francisco 49ers WR Russell Gage Jr. (knee) is believed to have suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament, according to a report by ESPN.com's Adam Schefter on Thursday, Aug. 21. The injury is expected to sideline him 7 to 10 days, per sources.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter (undisclosed) will not play in the final preseason game. Hunter did not practice Thursday, Aug. 21, but head coach Liam Coen said Hunter probably would have been on the field if it was the regular season.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars are getting Hunter ready for the regular season. He's going to start on offense and then dabble on defense. For Fantasy GMs, we like Hunter as a WR3/flex option with a ton of upside. |
Washington Commanders QB Marcus Mariota (Achilles) said he has been dealing with Achilles tendinitis but believes he will be available for the start of the regular season.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) has been a full participant during practice this week but will not travel with the final preseason game, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Good news for Stafford and the Rams here. Back issues are troubling, and Stafford needs a bit of time to shake off the rust. He wasn't going to play in the preseason finale even if he was healthy, so that's not really a big news item. However, it is good to see a full participation level as the team gets ready for Week 1. Stafford is a QB2 for Fantasy GMs out there. |

Los Angeles Rams TE Terrance Ferguson (groin) is scheduled to play in the final preseason game.
Footballguys view: Good news for the rookie here. Ferguson returned to practice this week after missing time because of a groin injury. We love Ferguson in dynasty formats, but this year he's set to learn as the no.2 tight end for the Rams behind Tyler Higbee. |
Washington Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. is expected to be the team's short-yardage and goal-line running back, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
Footballguys view: That sounds about right. Rodriguez drew the start in Week 2 preseason against the Bengals and looked good. Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Austin Ekeler will get work in space and early downs, while Rodriguez could come onto the field in short-yardage and goal-line situations. |
Los Angles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) has been a full participant in practice this week and appears to showing no ill effects from the back issue that sidelined him recently, according to a report from Stu Jackson of Rams.com. 'There's no restrictions and he's playing at a really high level. ... He's looked like the stud we know,' according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Good news for the Rams here. Stafford has been battling back problems all summer long. It's tricky for any player, but especially for an older player like Stafford. |

New Orleans Saints WR Donovan Peoples-Jones was released Thursday, Aug. 21.
Footballguys view: The Saints traded with the Broncos for Devaughn Vele, so they had to make room for him on the roster. Peoples-Jones is a seasoned veteran with size, so perhaps some team will take a look at him later in the year. |

Cleveland Browns WR Isaiah Bond will play in the team's final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday, Aug. 23, according to a report from Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Bond practiced for a third straight day on Thursday after signing a three-year contract worth $3.018 million on Monday.
Footballguys view: The Browns just picked up Bond, and he's ready for some preseason action. Bond needs to get up to speed, so preseason playing time is a must. To begin the regular season, Bond is unlikely to be a fantasy asset. However, if he pops in the way he could on a team in need of playmakers on offense, Bond could be a 'what the heck' flex. |
New Orleans Saints QB Spencer Rattler will be the starting quarterback for the final preseason game, according to head coach Kellen Moore.
Footballguys view: The Saints are the final team in the NFL to announce their starting quarterback. With Rattler starting this preseason finale he seems to be the front-runner for the job. The Saints quarterback situation squelches our excitement for the pass-catchers in New Orleans. |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (ankle) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Thursday, Aug. 21, but he won't play until October. The plan is to have him practicing by Week 2, and the team feels he is on schedule with where he should be.
Footballguys view: He can be practicing by Week 2, but Godwin needs to get back into football shape at that time which could take a couple more weeks. With a current ADP of WR40, Godwin's draft status will drop upon this news. The fantasy stock for rookie WR Emeka Egbuka should continue to rocket up the charts. |

Cleveland Browns QB Kenny Pickett (hamstring) will not play in the final preseason game because of his hamstring injury, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Footballguys view: By missing this game, Pickett will have missed every preseason contest this year. That means the Browns won't get to see him in action and will likely have to carry four quarterbacks. In the preseason finale, rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will be under center for the Browns. If Pickett's injury carries into the regular season, then Gabriel or Sanders will be the primary backup to Joe Flacco. |
Baltimore Ravens FB Patrick Ricard (undisclosed) has not been practicing this week because of a soft tissue injury, but head coach John Harbaugh said Ricard is expected back on the field next week.
Link to storyNew England Patriots WR Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) will miss the entire 2025 season with a shoulder injury, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Polk was the no.37 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he was clearly on the roster bubble this summer. Now, he's going to miss the season and try to make a strong case for a roster spot next year. |
Buffalo Bills CB Christian Benford (undisclosed) missed some team drills during practice Thursday, Aug. 21, because of an undisclosed reason.

Miami Dolphins DT Kenneth Grant (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day because of an injury, according to head coach Mike McDaniel.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (foot) is 'good' after missing practice on Thursday, Aug. 21, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
Footballguys view: All Fantasy GMs can breathe a sigh of relief here. Jackson underwent an X-ray on his foot that came back negative. He's a set-it-and-forget-it starter each week and has the potential to finish the year as the no.1 quarterback in fantasy football. |

Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Thursday, Aug. 21.
Footballguys view: Hunter had an upper body injury earlier in camp that kept him limited, but it's unknown if this is a new injury that is causing him to miss practice. Even though he's going to dabble on defense, we like Hunter (and his freakish athletic ability) as a flex play with upside. |
Cleveland Browns LB Nathaniel Watson (biceps) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Aug. 21.
