Link to storyTrey Hendrickson's contract situation is resolved. The star pass rusher will get a $14 million raise from the Cincinnati Bengals for this season, boosting his 2025 salary to $30 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. Hendrickson is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Footballguys view: Before receiving the raise, Hendrickson was set to earn $16 million this season. He had not participated in any offseason workouts, including the entirety of training camp, while seeking a new deal with the club. He has insisted that he would not play this season under the contract. Hendrickson, 30, is coming off his best season in the NFL. He had 17.5 sacks last season, which led the league. Hendrickson was also named to The Associated Press All-Pro team and reached the Pro Bowl for the fourth straight season. |

Link to storyFree-agent WR Amari Cooper (Bills) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders Monday, Aug. 25, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: The 31-year-old Cooper started his NFL career with the Raiders as the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He spent three and a half years playing for the Raiders in Oakland before he was traded to the Cowboys during the 2018 season. Last year Cooper played six games for the Browns and eight for the Bills and totaled 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns. As Profootballtalk.com suggests, the Raiders will hope Cooper can catch on quickly, develop rapport with quarterback Geno Smith, and make an impact in short order. |

Link to storyMiami Dolphins DT Kenneth Grant (undisclosed) is 'doing well and there's nothing in question for Week 1,' according to head coach Mike McDaniel on Monday, Aug. 25.
Link to storyRB Joe Mixon (foot) was placed on the non-football injury list at the start of training camp, and the team announced that he will be placed on the reserve version of the list at the cut to 53 players on Tuesday. The move will make Mixon unable to play in the first four games of the season.
Footballguys view: The Texans open the season with games against the Rams, Buccaneers, Jaguars, and Titans. Mixon injured his foot while he was away from the team ahead of camp, and there's been little discussion of when he might be able to play. Nick Chubb is in line to be the starting running back in Week 1, and a return to form early in the season could make it difficult for Mixon to get his job back if he's cleared to return. |

Miami Dolphins CB Jason Marshall Jr. might be in line for the starting nickel corner job, although head coach Mike McDaniel wouldn't commit to that Monday, Aug. 25, even after veteran CB Mike Hilton was cut.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Ollie Gordon II might be in line for a sizeable role in the offense for Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts, as head coach Mike McDaniel conceded that RB Jaylen Wright (leg) is unlikely to be ready for the regular-season opener.
Footballguys view: While Wright will likely be the No. 2 behind De'Von Achane when available, Gordon is an ideal fit for the offense. Travis Wingfield of MiamiDolphins.com has been impressed, telling us Gordon is a player fantasy investors can get late in drafts and stash for our playoff runs. "Gordon could be a huge part of the offense, especially in scoring situations," Wingfield said. Gordon is being drafted as RB61 in Round 16. |
Miami Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright (leg) is unlikely to be available for the Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Mike McDaniel said Monday, Aug. 25. He indicated a return in the near future after that is possible.
Footballguys view: With Achane sidelined, and with Alexander Mattison on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending neck injury, Miami planned to lean on Wright, who had struggled this exhibition season, averaging 1.5 yards per attempt on 13 carries. With Wright injured, the door was open for rookie Ollie Gordon II to handle the tailback workload in the final preseason game. He carried the ball eight times for a team-high 43 yards against the Jaguars on Saturday. This is a situation worth watching, especially if Wright is slow to recover. |
The Colts elected to select Daniel Jones over Anthony Richardson to be their starting quarterback in 2025, putting into question Richardson's future with the organization. Given that, head coach Shane Steichen was asked during his Monday press conference if Richardson had expressed any doubts about his place within the franchise. "Yeah, I mean, I've had conversations with him," Steichen said. "Obviously, he's our backup quarterback right now. [He's] still attacking it the right way, coming in, being a pro, getting in here early, taking care of his body, rehabbing, treatment. And in the QB room, [he's] preparing like he's the starter."
Footballguys view: As PFT's Myles Simmons suggests, while Steichen noted Jones is set to be the starter for the entire 2025 season, odds are that Richardson will get a shot to play at some point in the year. Jones has never started every game of a season, though he did help lead the Giants to the postseason in 2022 with a career-high 16 starts. We'll see if Richardson is ready for whatever opportunity he gets if and when it comes. |

Arizona Cardinals DT Walter Nolen's (calf) availability for Week 1 is still uncertain at this point, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. Nolen is currently on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.
Link to storyIndianapolis Colts WR Josh Downs (hamstring) is expected to return to practice next week, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: James Boyd, who covers the Colts for The Athletic, told us last week that he expects Downs to be the third-most targeted receiving asset in Indy behind Tyler Warren and Michael Pittman Jr. Interesting that the rookie tight end is first on this list, but that's perhaps more a reflection of the quarterback situation than anything. We'll follow up on Downs' progress next week. |

Las Vegas Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers recently asked the team to trade him after the two sides were not able to agree to a contract extension. The Raiders do not plan on moving Meyers.
Footballguys view: Rapoport added that Meyers' desire to be traded comes from the two sides' failure to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Meyers signed a three-year deal with the Raiders in 2023 and has been a consistent producer since. He had a career-best 1,027 yards in 2024, which is made more impressive because he had to overcome poor quarterback play and shared the same offense as Brock Bowers. With Tre Tucker and rookies Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech the next men up, the Raiders will wisely stand pat. Meyers is being drafted as WR38 in Round 7. |

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Will Howard (hand) is expected to be a full participant in practice in the near future, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
Link to storyNew York Jets WR Allen Lazard (shoulder) should be available for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Aaron Glenn.
Footballguys view: Lazard, who was injured in the team's first preseason game, told Brian Costello of the New York Post that he will practice on Monday and confirmed that he is on track to play in the season opener against the Steelers. Lazard joins Tyler Johnson, Josh Reynolds, and fourth-round pick Arian Smith in the mix for playing time alongside Garrett Wilson at receiver for the Jets. Wilson, currently going as WR15 in Round 3, is the only viable fantasy asset in this wide-receiving corps. |
