49ers | Marquez Valdes-Scantling signs with Niners Wed Aug 27, 12:11 PM
Free-agent WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Seahawks) signed an undisclosed deal with the San Francisco 49ers Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Footballguys view: Valdes-Scantling did not impress enough to win the no.3 job with the Seahawks, and now he finds his way to the 49ers. They have injuries and depth concerns at the position, so this signing makes sense. |

Baltimore Ravens S Kyle Hamilton signed a four-year contract extension with the Ravens Wednesday, Aug. 27, worth $100.4 million.
Footballguys view: Hamilton is now the highest paid safety in NFL history. The deal includes $82 million in guaranteed money. The Ravens had exercised Hamilton's fifth-year option, and he's become one of the best safeties in the league. With this extension, Hamilton is on the books with the Ravens through the 2030 season. |
Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (foot) will be evaluated after he sits out the first four games of the season, but general manager Nick Caserio indicated there is no guarantee that Mixon will be ready to play at that point.
Footballguys view: There's no telling if Mixon will be ready to go after four weeks. Fantasy GMs have taken Mixon off draft boards for good reason. Nick Chubb begins the year as the starter with Dameon Pierce working as the primary backup. Chubb has a current ADP of RB46, which is a level he should be able to outplay so long as he's healthy. We see Chubb as a deep flex play while he fills in for Mixon. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice could be facing a six-game suspension, which would start at the beginning of the season, according to sources.

Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (calf) will be ready for Week 1, according to general manager Chris Grier.
Footballguys view: Achane should be out there in Week 1 against the Colts, and that means he's going to be practicing next week. The Dolphins have expressed full confidence in Achane's availability, but we'll see what his practice status is like in about a week. Fantasy GMs are taking Achane off the board at RB7, going at some point in the second round. |
Carolina Panthers WR Adam Thielen was acquired by the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, Aug. 27, in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-rounder. Minnesota also receives a 2026 conditional seventh-rounder and 2027 fifth-round pick.
Footballguys view: Thielen is back where he began his career, and Vikings fans have to love this move. With Jordan Addison suspended the first three games, Thielen gives the team a veteran who can help move the chains. |

Updating a previous report, Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin received a three-year, $87 million deal with $44 million fully guaranteed. That converts to $50 million in April 2027. The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus and reachable incentives based on yards, catches, touchdowns, Pro Bowls and playoff berths.

Free-agent S Jordan Poyer (Dolphins) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Detroit Lions WR Tim Patrick was shipped to the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, Aug. 27, in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2026.
Footballguys view: Patrick was acquired last year from the Broncos, and he had 394 yards and three touchdowns. The Lions feel good about their WR room behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Rookie Isaac Teslaa has an opportunity to take over as the no.3 receiver, and we love his upside and potential red zone presence. In deeper leagues, Teslaa should pay off like a 'what the heck' flex. |

Detroit Lions WR Tim Patrick was acquired by the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, Aug. 27, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars wanted size and blocking ability in their WR room behind Brian Thomas and Travis Hunter, and Patrick will provide just that. He's a seasoned veteran who has produced - when healthy - with the Lions last year and the Broncos before that. Fantasy wise, there's not a ton here for Patrick but he will provide QB Trevor Lawrence with another trusted target. |
