Link to storyBills offensive coordinator Joe Brady spent some time with another AFC East team a day after Buffalo's season came to an end. The Dolphins announced the completion of an interview with Brady for their head coaching vacancy on Sunday. The Ravens also interviewed Brady on Sunday.
Footballguys view: Brady took over as the offensive coordinator in Buffalo when Ken Dorsey was fired during the 2023 season. The Bills finished sixth in points scored that season and posted second- and fourth-place finishes the last two years. The Dolphins have also interviewed Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, and Kevin Stefanski. The Falcons have hired Stefanski, while Hafley is set for a second interview with Miami this week.
Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will be retained on the staff of new head coach Kevin Stefanski, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reports.
Footballguys view: Rapoport also reported that Tommy Rees, who was Stefanski's offensive coordinator with the Browns in 2025, is likely to serve in the same role in Atlanta. Bill Callahan, Cleveland's offensive line coach from 2020-2023, is also expected to return to working on Stefanski's staff. But the retention of Ulbrich is most pivotal. Owner Arthur Blank said that he would recommend Ulbrich to whoever eventually became the team's next head coach. However, he didn't want to "dictate" any coordinator choices. Nonetheless, Stefanski was on board, which maintains some consistency at the very top for a promising unit.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy had four wins in seven games against playoff teams in 2025, posting a 79.6 passer rating with 18.9 points per game (PPG) on offense, while going 4-0 with a 123.9 passer rating and 38.0 PPG against non-playoff teams.
Footballguys view: It's not fair to put all of this on Purdy. Health was an issue throughout the 49ers' 2025 season. Purdy was one of many 49ers who missed time due to injury. Purdy, George Kittle, offensive tackle Trent Williams, and wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings all got banged up during the year. Kittle, in particular, missed six regular-season contests and left San Francisco's wild-card win with a torn Achilles. The injury bug also bit the defense. The good news? The pieces are in place for a turnaround, and there's plenty of fantasy production possible with better health.
Houston Texans WR Braxton Berrios is active for the AFC Divisional Round playoff game against the New England Patriots, with WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Justin Watson (concussion) sidelined. Berrios hasn't played since Nov. 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a chest injury, and then he was simply a healthy scratch down the stretch.

Link to storyCleveland Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees will not have a second interview for the team's head-coaching vacancy, as he is expected to join the staff of Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, formerly of the Browns.
Footballguys view: Rees served as Cleveland's offensive coordinator in 2025, working closely with Stefanski for two seasons. Before joining the Browns staff in 2024, Rees was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2023, and held the same role at Notre Dame from 2020-2023. Stefanski is an experienced play-caller, and most assume he will continue to call plays in Atlanta.
Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel will have an in-person interview with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, according to a source. It will be his second interview with the team for its head-coaching vacancy.
Footballguys view: According to SI.com's Ty Kohler, the belief within the Browns organization is that McDaniel can lead an offense at a high level, and with an already strong defense, he could quickly turn the Browns around. There is already familiarity between McDaniel and the Browns organization, as he worked as a WRs coach in Cleveland during 2014, under OC Kyle Shanahan. McDaniel will have several other interviews this week, too. He will be meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders for their open head coaching position, then he'll meet with the LA Chargers to interview for the offensive coordinator position.
Houston Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair was fined $11,593 by the National Football League for a violation of the league uniform and equipment rules, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Philadelphia Eagles special teams coach Michael Clay agreed to terms on a contract extension Sunday, Jan. 18. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Link to storySan Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy completed 15 of his 27 passes for 140 yards and an interception and rushed five times for 37 yards and lost a fumble in a 41-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round. RB Christian McCaffrey (stinger) dealt with a stinger but managed 11 carries for 35 yards and caught five passes for 39 yards, and RB Jordan James added six carries for 28 yards and caught a seven-yard pass. TE Jake Tonges (foot) caught five passes for a team-high 59 yards before exiting with a foot injury, and WR Jauan Jennings had two grabs for 23 yards. WR Ricky Pearsall and WR Kendrick Bourne were both targeted twice, but neither caught a pass, and WR Demarcus Robinson gained a yard on his only catch. LB Dee Winters tied for the team lead with nine tackles, including three tackles for loss, and LB Eric Kendricks also had nine stops. S Malik Mustapha chipped in eight tackles and a sack.
Footballguys view: The 49ers offense came in shorthanded due to injuries and then lost Jake Tonges during the game and also didn't have Christian McCaffrey for part of the game. It was just too much for them to overcome against a great and balanced team like Seattle. The 49ers overachieved when you consider what they lost to injury, but the team needs to figure out what they seem to have such bad injury luck.

Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold completed 12 of his 17 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in a 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round. RB Kenneth Walker III rushed 19 times for 106 yards and three touchdowns and caught three passes for 29 yards. WR Cooper Kupp caught five passes for a team-high 60 yards, and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba had three grabs for 19 yards and a score. WR Rashid Shaheed gained 27 yards on two carries, and he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. TE AJ Barner was not targeted, but he did have a two-yard carry. LB Ernest Jones IV had six tackles and an interception, and DL Leonard Williams and DL DeMarcus Lawrence both recorded a sack.
Footballguys view: The Seahawks scored on the first play of the game when Rashid Shaheed return the kickoff for a score, and they were up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter. It just got worse from there for the 49ers. The Seahawks pass offense didn't have to break a sweat, so it wasn't a big statistical game for Sam Darnold, but Ken Walker dominated a banged up 49ers defense and Darnold didn't show ill effects from the oblique injury he suffered during the practice last week. The Seahawks will host the NFC title game next week.

Former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Stefanski was the second best name on the market with Mike Tomlin likely sitting this hiring cycle out, so after John Harbaugh signed with the Giants, the Falcons got to work. Stefanski elevated Cleveland before the Deshaun Watson trade, and he should be able to work with Michael Penix Jr. once the 2024 first round pick is healthy. This is a good development for the Falcons offense.

Denver Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham is expected to start the AFC Championship Game with QB Sam Ehlinger serving as the backup, following the season-ending ankle injury to QB Bo Nix (ankle).

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix (ankle) is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a fractured bone in his right ankle on Tuesday, Jan. 20, according to head coach Sean Payton.
Footballguys view: We'll watch the timeline for his recovery, but it's not expected that this would endanger him being ready for training camp. Nix played well enough to earn a chance to make the Super Bowl with one more win, but won't get the opportunity to play for that berth. We should be confident in his ability to rise to the occasion in the postseason going forward.
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix (ankle) suffered a broken bone in his ankle during the Divisional Round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills, and he will miss the remainder of the postseason.
Link to storyDenver Broncos C Alex Forsyth (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during the Divisional Round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.
Link to storyDenver Broncos QB Bo Nix completed 26 of his 46 passes for 279 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round. He also rushed 12 times for a team-high 29 yards. RB RJ Harvey finished with 20 rushing yards on six carries and caught five passes for 46 yards, and RB Jaleel McLaughlin gained 21 yards on four carries. WR Marvin Mims caught a touchdown while leading the team with both eight receptions and 93 receiving yards. WR Courtland Sutton finished with 53 yards on four receptions, and WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey caught two passes for 33 yards and a score. WR Pat Bryant (concussion) had three receptions for 32 yards before exiting the game, and TE Evan Engram caught one pass for seven yards. OT Frank Crum chipped in a seven-yard touchdown catch. On the defensive side of the ball, LB Alex Singleton led the way with a team-high 14 tackles, including 11 solo stops. S Talanoa Hufanga had 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, and forced a fumble. S P.J. Locke had nine tackles and an interception, and DE Malcolm Roach had five tackles, 1.5 sacks and three quarterback hits.
Footballguys view: Nix made big throws in the first half and then late in the fourth quarter, but Josh Allen was able to overcome three turnovers in regulation to send the game to overtime. Nix led the team to a game-winning field goal after Allen's fourth turnover in overtime, but broke his ankle on the next to last play of the drive and will not be able to play in the AFC Championship game. Jarrett Stidham will start in the biggest game of his life as the Broncos will look to shock the football world by winning with their unheralded backup quarterback.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen completed 25 of his 39 pass attempts for 283 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round. He added 12 carries for 66 yards and lost two fumbles, and RB James Cook rushed 24 times for 117 yards, caught two passes for 24 yards and lost a fumble. RB Ray Davis didn't log a carry, but he did catch two passes for 33 yards. TE Dalton Kincaid caught six passes for a team-high 83 yards and a score, and WR Khalil Shakir finished with 75 receiving yards on a team-high seven receptions. WR Keon Coleman caught a 10-yard touchdown, and WR Mecole Hardan hauled in a four-yard score. TE Dawson Knox added three receptions for 32 yards, and WR Brandin Cooks caught two passes for 20 yards. S Cole Bishop recorded a team-high 12 tackles, including seven solo stops and two tackles for loss, and CB Cam Lewis finished with 10 tackles and two passes defensed.
Footballguys view: A team can't expect to turn the ball over five times and win on the road in the playoffs, and yet the Bills had multiple to chance to do just that despite being down 23-10 in the second half. This one will haunt Josh Allen the most, as he hadn't committed a turnover in a long time in the postseason coming into this game. The Bills will go into another offseason wondering how to keep this from happening again.
