Falcons | ATL will make alternative QB plans for 2026 Sun Nov 23, 09:53 AM
Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said the team will need to make alternative quarterback plans for 2026 in case QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) has not recovered by the beginning of next season. Penix will undergo surgery in Los Angeles during the upcoming week to have his anterior cruciate ligament restructured and it is estimated that he could be sidelined for nine months, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: It's unlikely that Kirk Cousins will still be with the team next season unless his play dramatically improves from the level he was at in the 34-10 loss to the Dolphins in his first start this season. The 2026 fantasy value of Drake London and Bijan Robinson could be in for a rocky start.

San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) was able to practice in full Saturday, Nov. 22, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 12 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Footballguys view: Purdy returned from a six-game absence and completed 19 of his 26 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-22 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11. He'll look to build on that against the Panthers on Monday Night Football.
San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall (knee) practiced in full on Saturday, Nov. 22, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 12 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Footballguys view: Pearsall returned from a five-game absence and finished with one catch for no gain during a 41-22 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11. He'll look to pick up the pace against the Panthers in his second game back.
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (rest) was able to practice in full for a second straight day Saturday, Nov. 22, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 12 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. McCaffrey, who racked up 121 scrimmage yards and scored three touchdowns against the Cardinals last Sunday, is ready to take on his former club in a primetime tilt against the Panthers on Monday Night Football in Week 12.

San Francisco 49ers DL Robert Beal Jr. (concussion), LB Tatum Bethune (ankle) and PK Eddy Pineiro (hamstring) did not practice Saturday, Nov. 22. Beal is doubtful for Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers, while the other two are out. LB Luke Gifford was a limited participant, and he is listed as questionable. RB Christian McCaffrey (rest), WR Ricky Pearsall (knee), QB Brock Purdy (toe), LB Curtis Robinson (elbow), OT Trent Williams (rest) and LB Dee Winters (knee) all practiced in full, and each were removed from the injury report.

Minnesota Vikings C Ryan Kelly (concussion) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 22, and he enters the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers without any designation.
Link to storyThe Seahawks placed WR Tory Horton on injured reserve, sidelining him for a minimum of four games.
Footballguys view: Horton, a fifth-round pick out of Colorado State, had given the Seahawks an explosive playmaking option at receiver and punt returner prior to sustaining a shin injury that has kept him out of the previous two games. Horton has five receiving touchdowns this season, including two in his most recent game, the Seahawks' Week 9 win over the Commanders, as well as a 95-yard punt return touchdown. With Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and recent acquisition Rashid Shaheed on hand, Sam Darnold still has ample downfield firepower.
Carolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette (hip) practiced in full Saturday, Nov. 22, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: The 2024 first-round pick injured his hip in the fourth quarter of Carolina's Week 11 overtime win over the Falcons. But now that he's off the injury report, Legette will be available against the 49ers.
Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan (ankle) practiced in full Saturday, Nov. 22, for a third consecutive day, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: McMillan is coming off a career-best 33.0-point output against the Falcons' defense. The rookie caught 8 of 12 targets for 130 yards with two touchdown grabs. McMillan, who hadn't found the end zone since Week 6, caught both of his touchdowns on red-zone throws. Now he heads into a favorable matchup on the Monday Night Football stage in San Francisco.
Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) practiced in full on Saturday, Nov. 22, and he was removed from the practice report ahead of the Week 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: Young, who threw for 448 yards last week, gets an interesting matchup in San Francisco. The 49ers have allowed 22.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over their last seven games. Fantasy investors needing an emergency start have a Monday night fallback option.

Carolina Panthers C Cade Mays (ankle), LB Christian Rozeboom (hip, hamstring) and LB Trevin Wallace (shoulder) didn't practice Saturday, Nov. 22, and each player has been ruled out for Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, Nov. 24. CB Akayleb Evans (ankle), WR Xavier Legette (hip), WR Tetairoa McMillan (ankle), S Lathan Ransom (hand), DT Tershawn Wharton (knee) and QB Bryce Young (ankle) practiced in full, and each was removed from the injury report.

The Jaguars activated TE Brenton Strange and he is expected to play against the Cardinals in Week 12.
Footballguys view: We prefer to not put players in the lineup in their first week back from an extended absence. Strange's upside isn't compelling enough to go against that with an abundance of via waiver wire right end options this season, but if you are in a roster crunch and need to drop your streamer this week to free up a spot for Strange or else you'll have to drop a valuable bench player, then go ahead and plug him in.

New Orleans Saints practice squad WR Dante Pettis was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 22, and will be available for the Week 12 game.

Arizona Cardinals practice squad TE Pharaoh Brown was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 22, and will be available for the Week 12 game.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers practice squad RB Pierre Strong was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 22, and will be available for the Week 12 game.
Footballguys view: This is not a great sign for Josh Jacobs Week 12 status. He surely wants to play, but the Packers medical staff is known to err on the side of being conservative in situations like this one. Assume that Emanuel Wilson will get the start, which will make him a suitable RB2/Flex. The Packers play at 1pm ET, so you'll know whether Jacobs is active before lineups lock.
Los Angeles Rams practice squad WR Brennan Presley was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 22, and will be available for the Week 12 game.
Link to storyCincinnati Bengals S Daijahn Anthony (hamstring) has been ruled out of the Week 12 game.
Link to storyTennessee Titans RB Kalel Mullings (ankle) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 22.
Footballguys view: Mullings has appeared in two games this season but has yet to record a carry. He sits behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears on the depth chart.
Tennessee Titans practice squad WR Xavier Restrepo was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 22, and will be available for the Week 12 game.
Footballguys view: Restrepo gets the elevation in the wake of Calvin Ridley (fibula) on IR, and rookie wideout Elic Ayomanor ruled out with a hamstring injury. Restrepo was one of Cam Ward's most trusted targets at the University of Miami. Restrepo delivered two highly productive seasons with the Hurricanes, topping 1,000 receiving yards in back-to-back years. Despite all that, Restrepo isn't a viable fantasy asset.
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Alex Highsmith (pectoral) is not expected to play in the Week 12 game.

Cincinnati Bengals practice squad RB Gary Brightwell was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 22, and will be available for the Week 12 game.

Tennessee Titans RB Kalel Mullings (ankle) is expected to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 22, according to a source.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders will be allowed to 'move the pocket a little bit more' against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 to try to take advantage of his ability to make plays off schedule, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.
Footballguys view: Good luck with that. Sanders is not a scrambler, and he tended to hold onto the ball too long in college at Colorado. However, he's a precise passer who can carve you up from the pocket. He'll need time to adjust, so expect some struggles from Sanders, but everyone is going to be paying attention to what he does in his first NFL start. Was it a mistake for Sanders to fall to the fifth round? We're fixing to find out.
New York Giants RB Eric Gray (knee) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 22, according to sources.

Los Angeles Rams OT David Quessenberry (groin) was added to the Week 12 injury report Saturday, Nov. 22, because of a groin injury and is listed as questionable for the game.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye faces the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, and the Bengals have allowed the most passing touchdowns (25) and second-most passing yards per game (257.3) this season.
Footballguys view: The Bengals don't really play defense, and the Patriots have been cruising against the weaker opponents on their schedule (and there have been many). Maye is one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the game, so he is not only a QB1 but in line to be the best fantasy quarterback almost every week.
Dallas Cowboys practice squad RB Malik Davis was signed to the 53-man roster Saturday, Nov. 22. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
